"It's effects can be quite effective in dueling to buy you some time. It mostly feels like little stings and pinches, making the skin become quite sensitive. So umm..." Medea glanced towards the groundskeeper. "Mr. Murdoch here vill let you know if you're doing it right. Like I said, if you do happen to be hit, I do have a cream here that'll help soothe the sensitivity."
For those who are doing the activity, you can start RPing in the First Floor Corridor, and make sure to check back here regularly to see an up-to-date list on what's been found and what hasn't! For those who are practicing the spell, aim for Mr. Murdoch! Hehe. Don't worry, a tough groundskeeper like him can handle it. maybe. Reminder, this class will end around late Monday (19th) or Tuesday (20th).

{Pre-Lesson Assignment For Advanced Students}

Think about the events that have happened to you this past year. Your life, as many numerologists will say, can be visualized as musical score.

Your assignment is to use a musical score as a background and write in highlights and key points thus far in your life and what may come in the future. Just as notes in a musical piece are played at specific moments to give music its rhythm and character, each point in your life has a certain duration and influence over your life during a specific period of time.

You should have at least five "notes" on your "life musical score". You can either do this as a graphical representation or just write it out, but the more effort you put into it, the more points you'll earn.

An example of a "note" in your life might include "taking your OWL exams", as this is a milestone, which is what i mean by having key points listed, is really a way of saying listing 'mile markers' on a musical score.

Remember, you could make this as complex as you like. The more you add the more points you're likely to get. You can do it by bullet points or graphical representation. You COULD even put the bullet points to actual music or music notes, if you're so inclined to do so.

○Write an adventure story in which you are an explorer, and how both sides of the Verdimillious spell had helped you along the way. Include the correct incantation and wand movements. This should be at least 6 inches of parchment. (4 paragraphs). [10 points]

○Make up an item that has been imbued with dark magic. Remember to list what it is, how it is used, who would use it, and who would most likely be the victim. Include a drawing of the object in your submission. [10 points]


Extra Credit: Draw a picture or create a card for Mr. Murdoch, thanking him for helping out so valiantly with the past lesson. RP either giving him the picture/card or sticking it on his front door, and include the post in your homework PM. [5 points]

Note: Please choose just one assignment to do. Doing both won't earn you extra points.

Worth: 10 points + an additional 5 for extra credit!

Task:

After caring for, and raising your Norandola over the last month, you need to consider how it reflects your personality traits. Remember Norandolas develop differently, depending on who or what they have been exposed to. This includes appearance and gender. Your task is to complete the following tasks:

1. Name it.

2. Sketch it.

[x] Can be hand drawn, done in paint or another graphics program. However it cannot be an image taken from Google. That's called cheating.

3. Write a rationale on how your Norandolas appearance reflects your personality.

[x] Please use my example as a guide. The amount I have written is the MINIMUM (if you want full marks).

[x] Remember, Norandolas do not possess the ability to fly, they cannot talk and are not poisonous or flesh-eating (mild toxicity is acceptable). Their APPEARANCE and gender are the ONLY things which will reflect your characters personality. If you disregard these restrictions, your homework assignment will be penalised. No matter how much effort you have put into it.

2. Which other historical figure do you think practiced Entrancing Enchantments and why? (2 pts)
(OOC: For this one you may use a canon-HP character, canon-SS character or a real historical figure. Please include some evidence as to why you think so. What is it about their lives that cause you to believe they practiced E.E.s?)

3. How do you think Entrancing Enchantments are generally perceived by witches and wizards? Why? Refer to The History of Entrancing Enchantments for help. (2 pts)

Effect: Everything the target says will sound like a compliment to others, causing them to have that butterfly-in-stomach giddy feeling.
Side-Effect: None

You may also practice the ones you learned in class, if you wish to. Only practice ONE, unless you want to practice more, but only one (3 posts) is required. You may practice them on a friend, enemy, pet, other animal, professor, etc. Just do it.

Part III (2 Points)
Go to the Headmaster's Office and tell him how great of a professor Madam Poppy Prunella Pricklepot is. Include links as proof when you submit your work.

Care of Magical Creatures Lesson Three

For homework, you are to create a Public Service Announcement about how to handle a dangerous creature. A PSA can be anything from a video to a poster, as long as it informs the public about something they need to know. In this instance, you must create a PSA Poster.

Post your PSA Poster somewhere in the castle once you are finished. Before the final begins, submit a photo of your poster and a description of three spells you think would be useful against a dangerous creature. Be sure to include a rationale (explanation) for each spell you would choose to use.

OOC: Basically, you need to...
  1. Make a PSA Poster.
  2. RP your charrie hanging the poster up somewhere in the school.
  3. Choose 3 spells you would use in conjunction with your PSA and write why those three.
  4. PM me the link to the post along, your actual PSA, and your three spells blurb.
  5. Due Date: 12:01 AM EST on April 1, 2012
  6. Points Value: 15 points, with up to 5 bonus points for excellence.

  3. RP out the pygmy puff practical portion.
  4. THEN, under a spoiler tag, and beneath your RP, write your essays.
  5. Your essay portion should consist of at least three paragraphs: one about the pygmy puff's reaction to the foods and your process to discover its gender; one about the grindylow and how you should handle such a creature; and one conclusive paragraph about what you learned/want to learn in CoMC.
