The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.
This day had been a rollercoaster of emotions for her, was it possible to feel both excited and nervous at the same time? Cos that's certainly how she felt.
Maya looked up the table to find a seat, and spotted one with a group of people around her age. "Hi" She said vaguely, before sitting down and looking intently at her hands, she had no idea what to say.

Just when a familiar voice echoed out of nowhere and it caught her by surprise. "Merlin!!!" Daisy had to directly talk to her of all the people sitting there. "You surprised me, Daisy," she said beaming at her. She had met her last term on the same place and she could still remember it well. Daisy's thoughts about the giant squid tap dancing amused her, "That is absolutely brilliant. I wish they'll think of making that true. Of course its only once." Tennessee Laughed at the thought. "That'll be history," she added as she chortled. Back to reality, her friend was right, the sorting's kinda taking long. but that's just like every term due to the abundance of first year. "Do you ever think the term will come when there are no first years to be sorted?" What a funny thought but when she realised it's not really funny for Hogwarts might come to an end if that ever happens.

Then a freshly sorted one joined them. Tennesse clapped and said, "Congratulations. Glad you made it to Gryffindor." She just wanted to be welcoming to the new students. the sorting continued and she wished it would now end... but not really.
Scar puffed up her chest and proudly stated, "Third year at your service!" Her ego got the best of her and her chest puffing reminded her of her grandfather's roosters in Spain.
"Cool. A third year" Jezz was excited but she had met so many older students but all she really wanted to meet some more students her age. People she could be excited with. But
SPOILER!!: Kurumi

"Ryan, good evening," Kurumi waved. "So nice to see you back." She sure hoped that Ryan would be able to fill his new second year shoes. Kurumi had high expectations for the younger lions and she was hoping that some of the events planned out in her head would help them rise to the occasion.
Kurumi smiled a bit more when yet another lion came to the table. That was more than enough of her Gryffindors here now, yes? "Ira," Kurumi called with a friendly wave. "Hope you had a good summer. Tell me all about it in the common room?" Ira had been a first year that had surprised Kurumi, participating in some of her homework based events in the common room last term despite being the youngest lion at the table. It was that sort of attitude that the house needed and she hoped that Ira would continue to put forth her best effort this term as well. Kurumi enjoyed working with her in classes and on homework assignments after all.
Kurumi was blushing a little bit now. Being a role model came with an immense amount of pressure, something that she had discussed with Selina towards the end of last term when they were working on their individual yearbook assignments actually. The pressure and expectations were almost suffocating at times, but Kurumi had found ways to deal - which had been hard since last term had her without her precious kitchen. "Well, I am certainly looking forward to seeing what all you bring to the pride," Kurumi replied with a wink. Yep, she had expectations for this little lion, and they were pretty darn high. In fact..."I actually may have a request for you...but not just yet. I'll tell you about it once I have some more details worked out." And once she had run the idea by Professor Bentley.
SPOILER!!: Selina & August
"How about this," Kurumi said, folding her arms against her chest and looking at August. "You let me call you Auggie Woggie and you can call me Prefect." Hah! Take that logic. Prefect wasn't really a bad thing to be called, but if August was willing to bear the embarrassment of that nickname, then more power to him.
Her eyes went back to Selina. The girl didn't really have that much artistic talent, if Divination's lesson where they had to draw the flight patterns of birds was any indication, so that was a blessing in disguise that Selina wasn't going to paint. Yes, the walls were red, but that didn't mean that there wasn't space for some gold lions or flames on the walls here and there.
Nope...Kurumi wasn't going to suggest that. She DID shoot August a look when he mentioned tapestries.
"Aw, why don't we just paint little Auggie Woggie's chest to advertise for Quidditch then?" Kurumi said in a baby voice as she pinched his cheeks. No need to repeat the pep rally from last term, right? That had already been awkward enough for her.
Kurumi looked up when she noticed that Headmaster Tate had made his way to the Great Hall and had found his place at the staff table. Not much longer until his speech and then the feast began, right? She ought to just wait until he was done before she got down to her cookie display. It was the polite thing to do.
It was then that she saw a frightened looking girl approach the lion table, newly sorted from the looks of her, and Kurumi pushed off from her position on the table to approach her.
"Hello," Kurumi smiled. She didn't have to bend over too much to greet this one. Finally, a good thing that came out of being short. "Welcome to Gryffindor house. I'm Kurumi Hollingberry, your female prefect." She bowed her head and they offered the girl a small round of applause.
She looked up at the staff table again and saw...Professor Scabior burp a pink bunny? She snorted and covered her mouth to try not to laugh.
Jezz was one that rarely dealt with pressure but she could finally see what it was like now. She would cope though and she wouldn't let Kurumi down. "Well anything you need of me just let me know. I'll do my best." The excitement of being in Gryffindor and having some pretty amazing friends hadn't worn of yet. She couldn't help but be excited for the term.
"So," Jezz said looking up at the staff table. "Who is our Head of House and which Professor teaches what?" She was very curious indeed to how it all broke down.

Arabella-Marie smiled and said "Yeah i do play qudditch i was actually on the gryffindor team back in my third year and i am planning to try out again this year"
"What position did you, or are you planning too, try out for?" Amelia questioned. "Personally I favour being a Beater or Chaser," she mentioned as an after thought. The conversation couldn't just be one-sided after all. She'd need to add in her own information if she was to keep the conversation going.

"Neither do I. I admire Seekers more than any other players though. If I had the talent to do what they do I'd apply for the position. As it is I'm not even sure if I'll put my name down for tryouts here. Although getting involved may lead to meeting some people that could become friends," Amelia replied, giving Arabella a slight smile. She was a bit unsure about joining groups her first year at Hogwarts since she didn't know how she'd be at keeping on top of all her lessons, let alone extracurricular activities.

"Yeah. I just don't know if I should try out just in case I made the team and then couldn't keep up with classes plus Quidditch," Amelia admitted to Arabella before lapsing into silence. She wasn't too good at keeping up conversations. With Isaac it had all come so easily, but with others she was sometimes at a loss as to what to say until she'd gotten to know them much better.

"Congratulations," Kurumi said as she clapped a little louder. "Welcome to Gryffindor, Maya. My name is Kurumi, one of your prefects."

"That is all I can ask for," Kurumi nodded. Well, at least on the outside. There was something in this one, a spark that Kurumi needed to harness and let glow bright before it was snuffed by something probably a Slytherin by the name of Sierra.
Kurumi turned around in her seat to look towards the staff table. "Right there in the middle is Headmaster Tate," Kurumi explained. "Do you see the woman there on his right with the blonde hair and flowers braided in? That is Professor Bentley, our Head of House and Herbology professor." Kurumi waved in the woman's direction, hoping to catch her eye. "She is brilliant and very easy to talk to." Come to think of it, hadn't Jezz mentioned that she liked gardening?

“We could always see if the Creatures Professor is up for the task. : Leandor told me that one term when he was here, the Creatures Professor actually spoke with the squid…he’s quite amiable.”
Daisy’s attention was drawn back to the front of the hall where a new Hufflepuff was just sorted. She found herself wondering if Daemon was sitting over at the Badger’s table. She hadn’t found him in Diagon Alley like they had arranged. She hoped he wasn’t missing.
“I hope not, because it’d be weird to not have any firsties around…” Daisy trailed off in quite thought for a moment that was interrupted by a fristie herself sitting down across from her and Tennessee.

Jezz nodded and smiled. She didn't know what to expect from this year but it proved to be interesting so far. The only thing she had to worry about that hadn't really happened yet, was meeting someone who really didn't like her. Thank Merlin. She also hoped it would never happen.
She gazed at the Headmaster and then followed Kurumi's directions and look to his right and she saw the woman she had mentioned. "Professor Bentley. Head of Gryffindor House and Herbology professor," Jezz had just found her favorite professor. "I can't wait for Herbology. I love to garden." Now all she needed to do was officially meet Professor Bentley face to face.

Maxwell took a seat at the feast and looked around for any of his friends. Mainly for Josie or Joseph whom he hadn't seen or heard from all summer, he was worried for them but more than that (and he felt horrible about it) he was hurt she hadn't contacted him. He looked for Nessie or Jordan, then he thought about it 'I haven't heard or seen much of Jordan since we left my house...I wonder where he got off to.'

Kurumi smiled and waved at Maxwell when he made his way to the table looking...well...not exactly in the brightest of moods. She sure wished that her male counterpart were around. She wasn't so sure if whatever it was on the boy's mind was something he could talk to her about or not. Still, she greeted him with a smile. "Evening, Maxwell. Welcome back."

Aha! So she did remember right. "You're lucky that you came when we had a proper Herbology professor," Kurumi said in a sort of low whisper. No need to mention that man-eating plant what was, erm, still sort of missing and perhaps wandering around the school somewhere. Kurumi momentarily shivered at the thought. "A few terms ago, Professor Vindictus, the Flying professor, taught a few lessons because the proper one went missing and it was frightening. Nearly put me off the subject entirely. Venomous Tentacula and Snargaluffs...a real messy business." She probably ought to stop. She didn't want to frighten Jezz. Time to put a positive spin on things, yes?
"When Professor Bentley came though, all that changed and now Herbology isn't all that frightening...unless pixies and toadstools are involved. It's one of my favorite subjects as well."

"Well I'm glad," Said Jezz. "Although Venomous Tentacula aren't really all that hard to take care of if you follow the basic procedure. " She gave a small smile as a slight blush spread across her cheeks. She was such a plant nerd but her grand father had given her the book with everything she needed to know about almost every plant. "But it's good that the Flying professor isn't teaching it anymore." She shuddered the think of what possibly went wrong in those classes. Flying plants?
Jezz smiled, "Well then, if I ever need any help I'll ask you about it and if not you I'll ask Professor Bentley herself." Kurumi talked about the professor with such a high regard and a kindness so she couldn't be bad. Or could she? "So, what about all the other professors? What are they like?"

Maxwell laughed. " 'Mr. Rookwood' that makes me sound like my grandfather. I'm just wondering why she hasn't contacted me? or where she is, on the up side my dad was at the platform. My real dad, it was strange but great. i guess it's just mixed emotions." Maxwell said with a nostalgic smile. "But at least you're still here, and god knows what kinda trouble we'll get into this year." Maxwell said with a smile.
Starving for food, Ariella plopped herself down at the Gryffindor table. It had been an eventful summer indeed. Nevertheless, she was thrilled to be back at Hogwarts. Back to her friends, back to her lessons, and back to Quidditch. She brushed a strand of her hair out of her face that had come loose from her ponytail and glanced around the table.
Ariella gave a wave to her friends and, glancing around the table, noticed some first years looking nervous, as usual. Trying to make conversation, she opened her mouth to say hello.

"Hello!" she said cheerily to a shy-looking first year. "I'm Ariella Adler. Third year. It's nice to meet you!" She reached out and shook the girl's hand. "Welcome to Gryffindor."
Tennessee had almost forgot the cute cat who seemed to have been surprised by her. "How cute," she said as she stroke the cat. "I might reconsider getting a pet aside from Hazzle." Hazzle is her owl bought by her father when she received her Hogwarts letter.
Not for long when the sorting started that all was in a fuss to who will go to what house. She barely knew the first years but she'd want to know more friends.
"Hazzle? Is that an owl?" Lilly asked. She loved animals- especially kittens and owls. "Come on, Smartie," she said, sending him up to the common room. "I forgot that pets weren't allowed," Lilly said, her eyes still on the little kitten's stroppy look.
Lilly looked up to where the sorting was taking place. Logan hadn't had his turn yet, but she was sure he'd be fine. Vlimia was a RAVENCLAW? Lilly had expected her to be a Gryffindor- or a Slytherin from her background. So was Lily, the girl she met on the train. She did seem like a true Ravenclaw.

Hmmm tough question. "It was alright," Gideon answered for lack of real thoughts on the matter. "Though for the first time it felt weird actually having had friends to miss over the summer. " Which was true, being the wall flower and alone made separation easier to some degree. He simply nodded at the question about being back.
Yes it certainly was great.
Alright? That always boded for some sort of bad news on the speaker's part but he was glad Gideon hadn't voiced it. He was having a great time at the Feast and sad things weren't awesome to hear when having fun. "Oh well we certainly missed you man." he grinned at the mention of friends.
August knew exactly what the older lion was talking about. He had met so many new people and had gotten to know his new friends really well and then having to go spend three months without was brutal.

"Auggie Woggie? I don't think so." he made a face as if he had just smelled something quite disgusting. "My grandmother doesn't even call me something like that." She did have an embarrassing pet name for him but he wasn't going to share with Kurumi, Selina, or anyone for that matter that his Nan called him 'Curely Q'. DARN HIS CURELY HAIR!
His eyes were back on Kurumi when she suggested painting him to bring some attention to the Gryffidor Quidditch Team try-outs. Was she crazy? "Ummm it will take some convincing for me to do that Miss. Hollingberry." Yeah he had just called her than--even though she was a year older than him. She was poking fun at him.
Just as he had said that he turned and saw Kurumi trying to hide some giggles and he followed her glance to the Staff Table which was definately a lot fuller than last term's feast. New Staff! Then he saw the pink soap bubble that had erupted from Professor Scabior's mouth. "Psst! Kurumi, you think that's funny? I have a story about Professor Scabior to tell you later." he gave her a quick wink and nodded excitedly.

But... but... but Anya was not brave. Anya was not anything except incredibly lonely. She eyed the yellow table already missing her best friend. But he was off with the crazy friend-stealer. Fate was exceptionally cruel. She had been separated from Alec... just to find out that they were attending the same school... just to be split up once again.
And she wasn't even in the same house as Asher or Ariel either!
No, she was sitting at a table full of people that we supposedly brave.
She sighed before looking up and down the table. She should probably make new friends, huh? Seeing as her other ones were across the room. That would be the brave thing, right?
As they sat there watching the new student's being sorted, August was clapping excitedly for those being added to Gryffindor and one particular little new lion joined their table looking a tad bit nervous.
Kurumi of course welcomed her but August scooted over to introduce himself and welcome her aswell. "Hey there, welcome to Gryffindor Im August Goldstein!" he looked at her again a tad bit more worried. "You're ok right?"
Kurumi squished her, to coin Lexi's term, cublet a little tighter. This must have been what Lexi had felt like, seeing Kurumi grow into her own. Sure, the two of them had had whatever that tiff was during last term, but that had been resolved and things were back to what they had been before. It felt as if, in graduating, Lexi had indeed passed the reins of student Mamma Lion onto her and Kurumi was determined not to let Lexi down even if the fifth year didn't really like the whole verb form of Gryffindor in Gryffindoring someone.
"Just a hunch," she smiled, releasing the first year from the hug. "Truth me told, I actually see a lot of me in you, back when I was a first year." Merlin, talking like this was making her feel older than her fifteen years of age.
Jezz felt pure happiness radiating through her as Kurumi hugged her tighter. She knew right then that the sorting hat had put her exactly where she was meant to be and she felt almost protected in a way. She returned the tighter squeeze and smiled even more.
As she was released from the hug she heard the older girl say that she, Jezz, reminded her of herself. "Well I hope that's a good indication of where I'll be heading in the next seven years I'll spend here." And if it was then that was great. Come on, Kurumi was a Prefect, of course it meant something good to be like her...just a little.
"Cool. Scar it is." Jezz smiled at the girl. "So what year are you in?"
Jezz was shocked to find herself talking to people on second and being spun around the next. When her feet landed right she smiled up at Logan. "We are totally Gryffindor's together! That is so awesome!" She hugged him back and couldn't help but be exited about it. "Oh my Merlin, this is going to be the best seven years of our lives." And she hugged him again enjoying they combined excitement.
Logan smiled as she hugged him, and he wasn't gonna let go. He was way too happy! "It deffinitely will!" he said smiling.
Did you just lose something? The GAME? Sorry... 'Justin Bieber, he is the man!' U mad, Felton!?

Kurumi had been in a pen pal relationship for the past few years with Vickers and she felt terrible for the poor owls. From Japan to New York over the holidays and Hogwarts to New York during the school year.
When conversation shifted to Kurumi again, she couldn't help but blush just a little. "I actually was in France for a bit, visiting Salander and Lexi," she explained. "Spent some time at Jonathan's home as well." And THAT caused her cheeks to flush just a bit more. "AndIspentsometimestudyingformyOWLs."
Rose shrugged. 'Yeah, we were close, but we've been owling, and she comes to stay with us every summer!' Yup, now that she and her sisters lived with Rupert, she could see Ronnie a LOT easier! It'd be awesome! Rose'd be able to talk again, properly talk, and not just be vague about things, she'd have someone to talk to.
Rose grinned as she saw Kurumi blush, and giggled slightly. 'Is Jonathan your boyfriend?' Then she realised she was being overly nosey, and put her hand over her mouth, shaking her head. 'Sorry, I have a tendency to be nosey...' she said sheepishy. 'Ooh, OWLs this year?' she winced, shaking her head. That'd be her in two years...
