| | |  Gobstones Preliminary Match: Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw
The time had come for the second match for Gobstones. Historically speaking, Hufflepuff didn't have the most talent when it came to Gobstones. But Fina never felt fond of History.
Entering the court area, she noted the bumps and bridges on the court, along with a few rocks scattered about, and removed the two twin bags from her tote. One bag filled with yellow marbles, the other blue.
Upon seeing a few players from each house, she nodded respectively to both houses, handing them their respective colored stones before placing the large Jack Stone carefully in the middle. "You've read the rules. Horseplay and cheating will not be tolerated. Good luck." | |

Again, Little Miss Hutchinson rolled her stone... a bit more carefully this time.... eager to hopefully get close to the Jack Stone. And she did. Only a few inches away. Alec Summers, a small first year badger rolled as well, his stone accelerating quick toward the center.... and can it do it?
The yellow marble simply PUSHED the blue one aside and moved in close to the Jack Stone... stealing the point! One more question should be the deciding factor.... for both the round ... and the match ...
ooc: spelling and grammar DO count, per the Rule Book; and since Hufflepuff had the correct spelling of "Io" ....

The Little Miss Hutchinson was determined to not let her house down. She rolled her blue stone .... and this time.... instead of veering away from the Jack Stone, the little blue stone rolled over the rock.... bounced twice and then rolled .... right on toward the center.
A difficult feat for Hufflepuffs to outdo. Can Ravenclaws hold their own for the match? AND it looks like they did! Little Hutchinson scored a point for Ravenclaw, sealing in a second round for them!!

But now it was time for a face off between the redheaded captains. Whatever the reason for this face off, wasn't entirely clear, but they both had this gleam in their eyes .... one that may have been familiar on the Quidditch Pitch. Alas, this wasn't the Quidditch Pitch and with another fervent look, they rolled their respective house colored stones onto the court.
The blue one sped off first, spinning rapidly ahead..... only to spin over a rock and then veer away from the center Jack Stone ..... the yellow, however, was slow to start, but the rock it spun over gave it just the right momentum .... as it closed in the center Jack Stone. Hufflepuff takes the point!

The battle of the captains wore on.... this time though it was the yellow stone to get tripped up and veer away from the center Jack Stone. Whereas the blue one rolled right on through and up to the center Jack Stone .... One thing was true that no matter how close Hufflepuffs got to the finish line, .... those Eagles were fighting right on through until the end.

Somewhere in between rolls .... and stones .... and gob spewing .... something got messed up .... to which caused Fina to step forward and hold her hand up in the air to stop. Enough was enough. "Now. I'm not sure what you're playing at, but please...." She picked up first the blue bag of marbles and inspected them, followed by the yellow.
"Right then. Carry on." Nothing was wrong, despite what it seemed. Despite how it seemed as if their stones may have been tampered with.
ooc: it's a draw because i forgot a slight thing called "change in currency rates". Technically in 1994, the amount was $282.59 . But in 2012, the currency rate is different ... which is why you get a variation on wizarding currency converters.

Oh good. Her worries had been for nothing; the two sixth years selected their stones and each cast their rolls....the blue one rolls faster though this time... only by a smidgen ... and ultimately, once they roll to a stop, the blue stone is just that little bit closer to the Jack Stone to give those Eagles another point.

Once more the sixth year captains took to their house colored stones.... Ellie lobbed hers with far more effort than was necessary ... but it seemed to have been effective, as her blue stone rolled right close to the Jack Stone so it was only millimeters away. Keefer took a more gentler approach.... just as effective ... rolling just outside the blue one.
Ravenclaw takes the point and the round!
