Hurrying down to the court area reserved for Gobstones matches, Josephina hastily pulled two bags of stones from her tote. One bag filled with red stones, the other, green. She knew she was slightly late in starting the first match and she only hoped that some members from each house would still show up.

Upon seeing a few, she nodded respectively at both houses, handing them each their respective colored stones before continuing with her customary beforehand speech. "You've read the rules. Any horseplay or cheating or anything poor misendeavors will not be tolerated. Good luck."

She glanced into the stands again, noticing for the first time that Cerulean was now seated amongst the students and Bentley. Funny how she hadn't noticed the woman before. Nonetheless she was grateful that she was able to come down and check out the match.

And Zabini-Riddle was back in the match, rolling her stone as if she'd never left. Apparently she wasn't willing to let her house go down without a fight. Her stone rolled right past the one rolled by Gideon, the green one rolling to a stop just centimeters from the Jack Stone. Slytherin takes the first point of the seventh round!

The sixth year prefect was literally NOT going to give up. Taking her green stone, she high-lobbed it onto the court .... ensuring a good shot near the Jack Stone. Gideon wasn't going to give up either though; his red stone was literally like RIGHT behind the green one... and if it just had that little bit of an extra oomph.....

But alas, Slytherin's take another round, adding some suspense to the end of the match. Either in one round, or two, depending on who won the next round .... the match would finish.

Not letting anything get in her way, the moment after she could, the sixth year Slytherin rolls again.... her green stone lobbing through the air once more, flying past the seemingly awe-faced pairing of second years, Minerva and Harvey, in the stands. Still soaring, gravity finally gets the best of it a moment later... pulling the green stone down.... and as if it was magnetic, it falls to a stop near the Jack Stone....

Can Gryffindor prevent an overtime match or will the first preliminary match of the term see a ninth round?

Gideon and Selena released their respective colored stones at nearly the same moment.... the bounced off the edge.... and into the middle ... their stones rolling at an adequate speed; neither too slow, nor too fast. Finally.... after what seemed like longer than it was.... they rolled to a stop....

The green one just millimeters closer to the Jack Stone than the red one, thus sealing a fourth round for those venomous Snakes.

Whistling, Hadley looked to the players, "Alright, take a break. We'll resume for a tie-breaker round in fifteen."

Whether they just wanted Gobstones done, or they were just itching to roll their stones again, Fina wasn't sure. But both Gideon and Selena jumped on her signal and rolled their stones onto the court. Or bounced. Or something.

The stones rolled over the bumps on the court.... and toward their goal... the larger, centered Jack stone.... both seemingly to be at equal speeds.... and then, the next thing was weird.... the red one seemed to roll over a bump that caused it to spur off in the other direction, whereas the green one? Rolled to a spot just near the Jack Stone.... Slytherin gets the point!

Gideon was working hard this match, hoping to bring the return of the Gobstones Cup glory back to his house. With one last look of determination, he rolled his stone. This time, however, it was countered by none other than the Slytherin Captain, Kimalia Fanster, who's stone nudged the red stone aside and continued on its way toward the Jack Stone....

... it rolled to a stop near the center stone, thus giving Slytherins the point! One last bout of gob spit up in the faces of the Lion players, as Hadley whistled. "Good game everyone! Please feel free to shake hands and don't forget to hit the showers after you leave here." Because you know, that gob, it stunk. And she was sure they ALL had some on them. "Slytherin will go on to face the winner of the second preliminary match in the Championships, whereas Gryffindor will play in the Consolation for the chance to end up not last for Gobstones."
