Post #1 SPOILER!!: ze Prof Alright he really needed to stop daydreaming at the skies and focus on this lesson. Standing on the correct side of the broom he uttered a strong UP as the broom flew up to his hand. Yes thats always been the easy part. Mounting the broom? Ok no problem. He did so, although gripping the handle not to tightly was gonna be something difficult to talk him out of. He likes having a solid grip on things, its makes him feel safe. He kicks off not to hard from the ground, launching himself off a good 10 feet up the air. A nice and safe height, he floats around for a bit to get used to being airborn. |

Less scary than it seems? Well.. it’s not, Gwen thought and looked back at what the others were doing. Zooming around the pitch, it seems, she told herself and watched a few of them flying for a couple of minutes. Turning back to the younger girl, the third year really didn’t know what she should do. ‘Nice too meet you’, Gwen said and extended her hand. Realizing that Laura might never ever let go of her broomstick to shake her hand, Gwen simply mumbled an ‘Ah’. Deciding that it was probably best to fly at the same time with Laura, Gwendolyn took off and expected the other girl to do so as well. ‘What--?’, she mumbled and turned her head. ‘You won’t die. In the worst case you’ll end up in the hospital wing’, she said and tried not to roll her eyes. However, the third year immediately wished she hadn’t. Biting her lip, Gwendolyn turned back and stood beside Laura. ‘Come on. Try it again’ It doesn’t need to be anything spectacular. Just go. ‘Once you are up there...’, she said and gestured with her hand- ‘It’s going to be easier. You’ll get used to it’ LIAAAAAAR!, Gwen told herself. Just to make sure the other student got it how she should take off and do the landing part, the Ravenclaw demonstrated it once more. Just slowly to make sure she could see the moves. ‘Wanna try it again?’, she asked kindly. |
#2 This time, Silvia kicked off the ground a little harder, rising to about fifteen or twenty feet before stopping. She leaned forward slightly on the broom and it began to move forward at a slow and steady rate. This is really fun! She wondered just how fast she would be able to go, but knew that trying to answer that wouldn’t be such a good idea her first time on a broom. When she was halfway down the pitch, she brought the broom to a halt. Okay, now for turning. She leaned slightly forward and to the left, and the broom followed her direction. When she was facing the way she had just flown from, she leaned forward again and started making her way back up the pitch. |
Helga had her broom in her hand. Helga wasn't the best flyer and brushing up her skills would be better than not at all. Practise Makes Perfect. She pushed up from the ground and began to fly. :broom: :broom: |
She got on her broom and kicked off. She felt strange sitting in the air. She landed and started kicking off again. |
post 1 Laci heard the instructions and gladly mounted her broom. She pushed off.... But harder than she thought. Laci was in the air and going fast. "woah woah woahhhhhhhhhhhh!" Mixed in with some giggles she slowly got herself to descend... Ideas? Yes Ideas she had. Laci touched the ground and laughed at what she just experienced. |
#2 Now that see was in the air she wanted to go faster so she leaned forward a bit and the broom surged forward. Man the cool breeze sure did feel good against her skin. She felt like she was going a little too fast and didn't want to get in trouble now that she was finally able to fly. So she sat up straight and slowly brought the broom handle towards her. She was starting to slow down. This is so cool. She had rode on a broom before at home, but something about doing it at Hogwarts was simply magical. Hannah also wanted to get a handle on landing too so she decided to give that a try and then she would get back to flying. Remembering what the professor said Hannah gently nudged the broom handle towards the ground. Slowly but surely she was getting closer to the ground. Once she was pretty close to the ground she pulled up the broom handle and was able to jog her way to a stop. Wow she felt that she did really good on her first try. Now she was ready to get to some more flying. She was worried about the landing, but it seems to be no big deal so she felt like she could do anything. |

Laura looked at Gwen and sighed. "This guy told me that you could hit people who are on broom and push them off." Laura sighed, she didn't really like that idea, and serious if the Professor did allow that thing Laura would probably leave and she wouldn't care what happens. Laura suddenly realised something flying wasn't that bad even though she didn't have wings. "Where are the Wings on this broom?" Seriously how was she flying, wasn't it the wings that made birds fly? Laura was suddenly enjoying herself but she wasn't going to let anyone know that. |

‘What guy?’, Gwendolyn asked, just to make sure she could guarantee Laura he’d been just mocking her. She doesn’t need to know that flying actually IS that awful, right?, the Ravenclaw asked herself. Gwen actually felt relieved that Laura finally decided to fly. It took her way less than it took me… ‘Right, now just take a deep breath and err… stay here for a couple of minutes. You should get used to the height’, Gwendolyn said. ‘Hmm? Wings?’, the third year mumbled. This one has to be a muggleborn… ‘Now we should do the landing’, Gwen smirked and looked back at her. She was going to wait for Laura to say something before starting. |
#3 Silvia was starting to get more comfortable with flying, so she rose a bit higher. She flew in a circular path a few times, then turned and flew the other way, speeding up slightly. The feeling of being airbourne was amazing, and she wished she never had to land. Most of the other students were getting the hang of flying too, she noticed as she looked around, even the younger students. She couldn’t wait to have her own broom, but she knew they were expensive. But for now she was content to just be flying and feeling the wind rush against her face and hair. Best class so far, she thought. |
Justin put his broom to the right of where he stood and awaited further instruction from the professor. As he waited he saw Minerva and gave her a little wave as he smiled at her. |

When Vindictus moved on with the lesson Selina did as she was told and prepared to take off. She had done this hundreds of times and it was almost second nature to the fourth year, but she did not want to lose points Vindictus style for ignoring his directions flat out. She would rather just do his assignment than fly the way she was accustomed. Then again it was not as if Selina could fly very high on this brooms being that they were enchanted. So she mounted her broom, leaned forward and took off rising slowly into the air. Yep, these were enchanted brooms. |

Laura smiled. "It was Oscar, he's in Hufflepuff with me, but he's a few years older than me." Laura sighed, "So of course he knows what he's talking about." Laura had no idea how she was going to land. "Maybe if I just crashed into someone when I got down to the bottom it would make me stop?" Laura hoped she was right but she didn't really want to crash into anyone because it would help. Laura suddenly had an idea, she had heard about this drink giving her wings. "DOES ANYONE HAVE THAT MUGGLE DRINK THAT GIVES YOU WINGS?" Laura couldn't remember what the name of the drink was but someone else might and that would make her better with wings she could do anything right. |
Post 2 Once Selina was in the air she felt much freer than when she was on the ground. Although she was not very high there was something about just being in the air that calmed Selina down. She felt as if she could just stay up in the air forever; of course, Vindictus would never allow that. After just floating with her eyes closed for a few minutes she finally opened her eyes and went to the task at hand. She twisted her broom in the air to do easy turns and an easy flying pace. Then she flew closer to Kurumi and waved at her friend as she flew by. Yeah, this was nice and calm. Not like Quidditch where everything was so fast paced. |
Post 1 Harlow nodded as Professor Vindictus told them what do to. She wished she had a notepad handy so she could write everything down, but this was something she was going to have to commit to memory if she wanted to be a great flyer. She bounced on her broom a few times to work up the nerve before she pushed off from the ground and the broom wobbled as it rose into the air. Harlow gripped the broom hard and closed her eyes. "Oh Merlin don't let me fall," she said opening one eye to make sure she was still on her broom. A slow smile danced across her face when she realized she was still attached to her broom and nothing was hurting. Harlow looked around at everyone else flying and tried to find that path that she could take that wouldn't have her colliding with anyone. She leaned forward on her broom slightly and started to zoom around the pitch. |
Post 3 She knew that she should have been doing more on the broom. Selina had been flying since she was old enough to talk, but she could not bring herself to do anything stupid that would get her in trouble. Although, she desperatley wanted to fly so much faster and do so much more than she was currently doing. On the flip side of doing what she wanted though, she ran the course of getting in trouble and loosing points. So all Selina did was shift her broom to the right a bit so she could circle the lower side of the goal posts. It was a nice, relaxing fly. Of course, if she saw Gideon she would have to make sure she did not get competitive and up the game. No doubt she would race him if she saw him. Couldn't let this class stay too calm. |
Post #2 Having gotten his bearing Vickers leaned forward, picking up a bit more on speed as his broom glided farther from the ground. Unconsciously he began opening his jaw a few times to regain that sense of balance in his head. Alas, the things he has to do to compensate for a damaged ear. He leaned towards his right and the broom began banking towards the same direction. His speed was slow and he was fine with that. He loved the sensation of being in the air-- thrill seeking was definitely not part of his vocabulary. |

‘He’s in Hufflepuff, well Hufflepuffs are stup-‘ Oh my! She’s in Hufflepuff too! Quick, Gwen, thin of something. Anything will do… ‘Stupendously funny’ FAAAIL. ‘You will be fine. No one will actually bump into you. That happens mostly at Quidditch’ And I guess you don’t play that, right? Psh. Crash into someone? Someone? SOMEONE!? ‘No. Not really’, Gwen said curtly, trying not to loose her patience. Calm down…, she told herself while taking a deep breath. ‘Just fly slowly… and keep your broomstick in this position, then pull it upwards… err… towards you’, the third year said and demonstrated once more the landing. ‘It’s not soo harddd’, she said and suddenly lost her balance, but managed to hold on to the broomstick in time. ‘I’m no expert, so…’, the Ravenclaw excused herself. Oh, so she’s definitely a muggleborn. ‘No ideea’, Gwen said, putting her hands up. How should I know that?! Psh. |
Post 1 Gideon did his best to try not and appear too excited about the fact that his answer was not only approved but gained points. He simply smiled softly and nodded to show acceptance of what was being said before listening to Vindictus describe what he wanted them to do both before, after and while in the air. Easy enough...it seemed at least for now the flying professor was keeping his crazy tricks quiet. Already mounted on the broom, he took a deep breath before kicking off from the ground. The fifth year leaned forward a little to move, guiding his broom into an ascent so he was doing more then hovering. Too many people close to the ground and even where he was at the moment when he paused so he gave himself a little more momentum and gained himself several more feet. The brooms may have been charmed to not go above a hundred feet but he wasn't going to test that, the boy opting to staying about fifty feet give or take. |
Post 2 Harlow zoomed around the pitch in a straight line. Harlow knew she looked like a very poofy uncoordinated bird. Part of the lesson was about turning. So there needed to be a turn somewhere on the horizon. What if she rolled off the broom? She was tiny and any fall was sure to hurt. "You're a Riddle. Just get it done," she scolded herself. She was made of sterner stuff than this. With a death grip on her handle she leaned to the left and the broom quickly changed course. The air whipped her hair into her face and she sputtered. Good thing she used banana shampoo. |
#2 So... she was in the air. On a broom. This wasn't too bad... at least she hadn't fallen off yet. Oh MERLIN! She had lost concentration slightly and the broom had begun to slip, luckily she had held on and stayed upright. Right... now to try moving on it. Aurora leant forwards the tiniest bit and the broom began to move... she had to hold in a squeal even though she wasn't going any faster than walking pace. She just concentrated on keeping on the broom and not falling off and nearly killing herself... there would be no repeats of that time. Ever. Yikes... this was scary. But kind of fun too... though she wasn't about to take up Quidditch all of a sudden. No way. |
1 Taylor kicked off from the ground like she did hundreds of times before. She was excited to get started flying. Taylor wanted to do twirls and race around the track though she didn't want to lose points doing so. There would be time for that soon enough..... hopefully. Taylor flew up to the hundred feet. She was happy that she could do at least that for now. |

Whaaaaat? She was in the air! A smile spread on his lips and he pushed off the ground. This time he did it with a bit more ease. He had to remember to concentrate on the path he was going and not get too distracted, although he couldn't quite help it. "You alright, there?" he asked her. He slightly leaned to the right so he was flying next to her. |

Minerva went up in the air and looked around watching the other students. She decided to fly around a bit. She zoomed to her right and turned around coming back to the center. She felt so much better at this then last year. Tryouts helped ease her fear a bit. Minerva wanted to avoid the new first years so she stayed to the side and went up a little higher and then turned left zooming towards far end of the pitch. |
