Laura stared at the broom she knew if she didn't do what the Professor said then she would be in trouble but well the thought of her feet not touching the ground made her feel sick, after all if they were suppost to fly then surely they would have wings right like birds did.

Laura looked around to see what the other was doing and saw loads of them already practicing taking off and landing but Laura didn't know if she wanted to or now, now should she ask someone for help or not.

After having listened to the Professor talk, Gwen waited for a moment, letting the information sink in. She wasn’t so scared of flying, like she’d been in the past two years, but she couldn’t say that she liked it either. It was just… acceptable. At least holding her balance in the air wasn’t a problem anymore. But if flaming barrels would appear at this lesson, Gwen was out of here! For sure.

‘Right’, the girl mumbled to herself and finally decided to start, noticing that almost everyone else was up in the air. Here goes…, she told herself while beginning to fly. While flying slowly upwards, Gwendolyn scanned the place, just to make sure she wasn’t loosing too much time in the air. It would be weird if everyone already finished this part of the lesson…

As soon as she decided to speed up, Gwendolyn noticed a girl sitting on her broomstick and just… looking around. Yeah, she probably looked just like Gwen at her first flying lesson. But maybe she isn’t as scared as I was, she thought and started flying towards the other girl. She'll have to practice the landing, anyway. ‘Hi there’, she waved quickly, and then grabbed back the broomstick with her hand, just to make sure she won’t loose her balance. And look stupid. ‘Are you all right?’, the third year asked, actually trying to help. She was no expert, but she could help. Yes, she could.

Nate kicked his feet up off the ground and the broom started to hover. It kept on going higher and higher. Finally he was up in the air with everybody else. "Wow I am actually flying. This is amazing." Nate started to soar. He wanted to catch up to Sophie.

Harvey kicked off the ground and felt that rush of air as he soared into the air but not too high as the Professor had just said that the brooms had been charmed so they could not fly too high.. it didnt matter how high he was... he was just happy to be flying again after a whole summer with no flying..

He then slowly leaned forward on his broom.. slowly as he was a bit ... ok alot out of practice of flying and was like last year again unsure about flying.. so he decided to take it step by step.. and he slowly leaned forward on the broom as it slowly went forwards

Laura looked around to see this older Ravenclaw girl coming towards her and asking her if she was alright, seriously didn't this girl see that Laura was scared of flying well not so much flying but broomsticks. "No I'm not alright." Laura sighed. "Seriously why don't people leave the flying to birds." Laura didn't want to get into trouble but it was a serious question. "If we were suppost to fly we would have wings." Laura for some reason only known to herself had tried out for the Quidditch Team and yet she was scared of flying, not heights but flying.

Laura looked at the older girl and then at the Professor who was other somewhere else, he could kick, scream, shout and beg her to go and fly but well unless there wasn't any chose she wasn't going to go and fly and nothing could change her mind, even just sitting on the broomstick was uncomfortable, where was a comfortable seat?

Laura looked back at the Ravenclaw girl and sighed. "Why don't you go and enjoy yourself?" Laura smiled back at the girl, she was starting to feel sick but well she'd get over it, all she had to do was think about somewhere else but what could she think about.

Kurumi leaned forward on her broom again to propel herself forward. He could follow her if he wanted to, she wasn't going to be zooming around like she had once done as a Seeker. Nope, she was going to keep at a nice relaxed pace and make a loop around the pitch with a few figure eights if she could manage it.

Leaning even more forward now, Kurumi picked up speed and continued to make her way towards the opposite end of the pitch in a relatively straight line.

An accident?!

O____________O

That must be a traumatic experience for Kurumi. No wonder she was sweating. "Oh" He never really good at cheering people up. He often saying a wrong words so now he decided to shut his mouth shut.

Messer was about to follow Kurumi but decided against it. He might make the Gryffindor prefect more uncomfortable with him flying near her. "Umm..Good luck Kurumi." He's not sure whether that was the perfect words to say or not. He made sure that he was steady enough and managed to wave goodbye at Kurumi.

He tighten his grip in his broom again and speed up his broom a little more than pull up the broom handle to break his broom. Maybe this time he need to practice on landing. He was flying in the air long enough. Messer dive toward the ground and when the ground gets closer, he pulled up his broom handle gently when his feet touch the ground at a slow jogging pace. He was officially on the ground right now.

Nate was starting to get the hang of flying. He wanted to speed up and slow down. He leaned forward on his broom. It went faster. Then he leaned back. It slowed down. "This is so cool. I want to do this agian so bad." Nate was just astonished by the fact that he was flying. Who wouldn't be amazed at that. Except muggles. They would think there are these things called strings there. A typical muggle trick to make fun of us wizards and witches.

After hovering for a few moments only several feet off the ground, Nora decided it was about time to trust her broom and allowed it to take her just a little bit higher. When she had in mind not to look down no matter what, she slowly leaned down towards the broom handle to find that it was actually better to fly faster, although the cold air scratched her face. There were other new risks though, because she had to make sure not to crash into anyone else, and that was terrifying.

But she enjoyed it. She actually liked it.

She flew around, mostly in the middle of the pitch so she wouldn't risk bumping into a wall (which would have never been surprising to see), and kept leaning forward for speed, and occasionally straightened her back to slow down.

Harvey then decided to speed up on his broom.. so he leaned further forward on his broom and as always the broom sped up.. and Harvey felt sick.. so he quickly leaned back on his broom not too much or he would fall off .. but just enough that the broom would slow down and Harvey could get rid of the sick feeling he had..

After he stopped feeling sick he decided to try again.. so he leaned forward on his broom not too much leaning forward just enough that the broom moved faster.. then he flew around at this low speed for a little while just getting used to flying again nothing else..

‘I know what you’re saying’, Gwendolyn nodded. ‘I was scared of flying ‘till… well… almost now’, she announced. Why am I so nice!?!, the third year asked herself and remained quite puzzled. Oh my! I’m actually human!!! ‘Maybe you should just take it slow?’, she suggested. This was what she needed when she was in her first year at Hogwarts. Not tricky tasks that involved even fire. Psh. ‘Come on’, she went on talking, and thought she shouldn’t go through the theoretical part again. Vindictus already said… erm… yelled that at them. ‘Just do like this to get in the air’, she demonstrated the take off and then returned to her position. ‘Just do this… it will be easier after that. Promise’ Ooooh- you LIAR!, she told herself and swallowed heavily.

Look- it took me two full years to finally have the courage to fly- I know what I’m saying!, Gwen wanted to add, but didn’t. Let’s just see how this goes, she told herself and looked back at the girl. ‘Umm… sorry. I don’t even think we met before. I’m Gwen. Gwen Greene’, she smirked.

Huh? ‘Enjoy myself?’, the Ravenclaw puffed. Please… how can I enjoy myself? Here? In this class? Nope… no chance.

Laura looked at the girl and then at the ground. "This had better be less scary that it seems." Hadn't anyone here actually heard of a seatbelt maybe then she wouldn't be so scared but well she would be flying without wings and without anything to hold her onto the broom, this wasn't going to be fun.

Laura didn't know if to trust the girl or not but she decided she would give the older student a chance, before she could even attempt to take of Gwen introduced herself. "I'm Laura Hope Hyde, but you can just call me Laura." if it wasn't for the fact she was scared, she would have asked how Grew was.

Laura decided it was time to take off a little bit she did what the Professor had told them, seriously she would have to put her foot down one day and if she refuse to do something that not do it, some how this girl had made her feel safe but how Laura had no idea.

Laura hadn't gone up far when she made the mistake of looking at the ground, she was only like 5ft in the air but well it still seemed high. "I DON'T WANT TO DIE." Laura was frightened now. "I'M TOO CUTE TO DIE!!" seriously she was an angel.

Ella was beyond excited! She had wanted to fly since she found out she was a witch and now was her time to practice. She mounted her broom and pushed off from the ground, very gently. She was afraid to lean too far forward at first so she took her time getting up to where her classmates flew. The wind in her hair felt amazing and she couldn't wipe the ridiculous grin off her face. I'm flying! I'm actually flying! Merlin's Beard!

Kurumi waved to the younger Puff as she continued to make her way around the pitch, hovering at a comfortable 40 feet in the air. Not to high and not too low. Kurumi continued to veer to the right as she made a right turn, and turned the handle a little more sharply to make more of a hairpin turn. Hey, they hadn't been so bad...granted she was still going at a pace only a few speeds above a snail.

Kurumi glanced around and looked for Selina. She sure hoped the red-head was pleased with herself. She had managed to get the prefect back on a broom at the cost of her precious cookie cutters. Kurumi would figure out a way to get revenge later.

Kurumi leaned forward on her broom and pushed the handle towards the ground...a little too quickly. She shot off towards the ground in a dive reminiscent of when she had played Seeker and spotted the snitch. Kurumi pulled up suddenly, halted her downward movement and movement all together. That had felt...surprisingly good...the wind on her face. Didn't change anything though.

Now somewhere around 20 feet in the air, Kurumi pushed her handle towards the ground again and managed a semi decent landing, stumbling over her own feet but keeping her balance.

Now that Ella was up in the air and flying steadily, she focused her attention on her fellow classmates who were...talking...no, have a conversation in the air. She wasn't sure she was ready for that but she did want to say hello. "Hey guys, isn't this great!" She beamed at her fellow classmates.

Ella wanted to practice breaking so she sped up by leaning forward on her broom. "Whoa!" She was flying quickly now, whizzing past classmates. OK, now to stop, I have to sit up straight and pull the broom towards me. Ella did so a little quicker than was probably warranted and her body jerked to a halt mid air. Oi! I'll have to work on that.

Leaning to her left Jezzabelle felt her heart race just a little. Turning always scared her, no matter what the broom. She decided to circle the pitch but for some odd reason ever time she went to make and effortless circle around it she ended up making a square. Maybe she was leaning to hard? She tried again leaning ever so slightly and found that it was a little less round than needed. Sighing in frustration she went around again, adding a little more, only this time effortlessly making and actual circle. She smiled to herself for finally finding a good balance of lean. Still, it was slightly irritating to have to keep making adjustments for this broom when she knew how to fly effortlessly on her own, the one she had left home.

Ella tried stopping several more times. She was not great at breaking, not great at all. She felt that she was breaking too quickly and she couldn't shake the panicky feeling that she was going to fall. She was not going to stop trying though. She had waited far too long to fly. With added vigor, Ella leaned forward and began to fly in a straight path. When she felt like she was going at a steady pace she sat upright and started to gently pull the broom towards her. It was working, she was slowing down. When she felt she was going slow enough she pulled a little harder and...stopped! I stopped! I did it! Yes!

When she eventually got tired of speeding around, Nora decided to stop for a while and just hover above the ground. But... not really noticing it at first, the broom was taking her higher and higher, and she found herself not only hovering, but flying high off the ground, many, many feet.

And then she looked down. And started to freak out. Obviously.

Not exactly thinking very clearly at the moment, she leaned forward and sped off in the hope of clearing her mind and maybe, with some luck, calming down. She flew around the pitch for a few times, and it actually worked, although she knew it was time to land.

Now that Ella seemed to have breaking under control, she decided to try turning. She picked up speed and then tried turning towards the right. OK, so that went pretty well... Ella smiled as she decided to stop and give it another go. Once again, she was able to turn right. Next, she wanted to try and turn towards the left. She did this a little too quickly and felt her broom do a little spin. Was it just her, or had she been upside down for a minute there?! I yi yi, be more careful! Mom will kill you if you end up in the hospital wing. After mentally scolding herself, Ella tried again. This time much more successfully. Ella was having a blast, despite the mistakes she was making. She was enjoying every minute of being in the air. The fear made it all the more exciting.

Really? Taking off and landing was all they were doing? Presley rolled her eyes. Most of these kids had probably known this one since they were four. Or even younger. Shooting a "what the heck do you think this is accomplishing" look at the back of her Head of House, Presley kicked off into the air. She hated the feel of Hogwarts brooms, and was glad to have her own with her. Her beloved Twigger 101 that Leo had given her a year ago.

Presley soared up above the majority of the students and looked down at them. It was easier to "practice turns" while not in the huge throng that seemed to be pulling closer to each other. Showing off, just a bit, and at the same time hoping nobody was looking, Presley spun in a fast circle and barrel rolled twice. She laughed in delight. Flying was such freedom. Deciding that she'd better "practice" the landing part too, Presley skipped her broom downward a few feet, closer to the level most others were at.

This was so incredibly basic. But she reminded herself that while she definitely wasn't the best flyer in Hogwarts (she didn't even dare try out for the team in case they said no) she had been flying for ten years now. There were firsties from muggle families in this crowd who hadn't even known broomsticks could fly until a month ago. She really was here for easy points.

Ella was in shock at how well she was doing. She had never used a broom like this before. The most she had done with a broom is sweep up her room back at home. She would have never imagined being able to fly one! She knew that she had to land eventually and that she better practice that next. She nudged her broom handle toward the ground gently, hoping to make an easy landing. OK, what's next? The ground was approaching quickly and Ella was drawing a blank. Think El, you're going to nosedive into the ground for Merlin's sake! For a frightening moment Ella pictured herself crashing face first into the ground and then it came to her. Pull the broom handle up, gently. She did so and just in the nick of time. Her feet touched the ground as she awkwardly jogged with the broom between her legs before coming to a halt. Phew!

Once she finally felt like... not freaking out anymore, Nora decided to take a few more spins around before landing. Yes, she was terrified of heights, but it felt simply refreshing to fly a little once in a while.

When she officially declared herself tired, she gripped the broom handle tightly and softly pushed it towards the ground. The broom lowered itself obediently and, when she was getting close, she pulled up the handle a little and reached out her legs to finally touch the ground. She remained like that, however, wondering if there were other things they needed to do.

Hopefully not. She didn't want to fly too much until she eventually loses control over the broom and gets stuck in the air.

Presley dipped lower to the ground, looking for something to do. Out of boredom, she plummeted toward the Earth, and pulled up at the last second, shooting almost directly up. Well that was fun, she thought. But what do I do now? This class, really! She coulnd't wait until Vindictus moved on to something else. She really was incredibly bored. And where was Luna? That would make Presley have something to do at least! She flipped her broom upside down, and flew for a second. However, she could feel herself losing control, so she flipped back up the right way. No sense in trying something that was going to make her fall for more than she knew she could be in control.

Ella was starting to feel really comfortable on her broom and wanted to fly around a little bit more. She pushed off from the ground and leaned forward, gaining speed. This was exhilarating. Usually when she needed to clear her head, she would go for a run. At home she would take off running whenever she needed to think or if she was upset. Flying felt like that to her, a perfect way to clear her head.

She circled the pitch a couple of times, practicing her turns with more ease than before. When she began to feel winded, she decided to head back down to the ground. She again nudged the handle towards to ground and as she got closer, pulled up on the handle. She landed much easier this time and took a deep breath. Wow. I can't believe I can do this! Ella was feeling happy and quite tired. She wondered what else they would be doing today.

Here goes nothing. Jezzabelle decided to at least practice stopping and landing safely, but just as she was about to she changed her mind abruptly. No. She was going to practice zigzagging back and forth while moving down the field. She took the broom just a little bit higher off the ground because, in all honesty, he was only hovering about twenty-five feet up in the air. She started at one end of the pitch and started making her way to the other. Lean left. Lean right. Lean left. Lean right. Lean left. Lean right. Lean left. Lean right. And then all the way back. Luckily enough she had maintained her balance and the broom didn't really give her any problems. She circled around the pitch again and then stopped to hover. What to do next?

Hannah was excited for flying lessons. She had been looking forward to this class the most. She was hoping to be on thw Quidditch team one year. Ok so here goes nothing she thought. She mounted the broom and very gently kicked off from the ground. She could feel the breeze through her hair as she rose through the air. Ok so getting up there was never the problem. Now she would have to move.

She pushed off the ground and rose several feet in the air. I’m flying, I’m actually flying! Silvia thought excitedly. She remained stationary for a moment, hovering about five feet from the ground. She didn’t want to take things too fast until she got a feel for being in the air. Very slowly, she tipped the handle of the broom upward and rose a few more feet. This seems quite easy, she thought. Then she gently pressed down on the handle and lowered herself to the ground-wanting to get a feel for landing as well- and prepared herself to try another take-off.
