Post #3. HE WAS GONNA FALL. :whaa: Darwin was sure of it, sure as his hands couldn't get a tight enough grip on the broom handle. Remembering the charm they'd learnt in Charms, he was about to dig out his wand when he thought about what the Professor had said, No spells. Actually, he decided, the spell was probably a bad idea anyway; he could barely cling to the broom as it was, imagine taking one hand off to find his wand! No, he needed to sort this out himself, without it's aid. Seeing another squirrel come at him from in front, he tilted the broom forward so that he'd duck underneath it, and the action seeming to shove him forward a little, balancing the broom out. Which was good, but still, even hovering, the squirrel was heavy. So when the next one came at him, and he sharply turned to the left, and when the one after that caused him to shoot upwards rockily, he was terrified that the animal would cause the broom to fall. Or even that the animal would just fall and hurt itself and he'd get detention or something even if it was an accident. The squirrel didn't seem to want to leave his broom, and he could almost feel it climbing closer to him along the handle. Darwin could feel it shaking, almost as much as his own hands were, and then one was coming at him from above, so he pulled into a sharp turn and - It jumped onto his back. |

2 Jezzabelle made her way to the next tree and was relieved when the squirrels jumped off her broom. She couldn't stand the fury little creatures. She zigzagged her way to the next tree which was slightly higher and thanked Merlin that she made it there with out crashing into another student or getting another tag along. No. No. No. NO! "Ahhh....ahh....ahhh....CHOO!" She closed her eyes and sneezed three times in a row. When she opened her eyes and got back into focus the had to duck to avoid being hit in the face by a squirrel. This was a nightmare. |
#2 Sophie was still admiring the cuteness of the squirrels when one of them landed on her broom, right in front of her hands. "Oh, hello there, little buddy!" she smiled at it. "Do you want a ride?" she didn't expect the squirrel to reply, obviously, so she turned around and made her way towards one of the trees so the squirrel could go to its house - or wherever it was going. She found it funny that it seemed to stare really hard at her. Out of nowhere another squirrel came in her direction and she ducked. "Hey, not in my head, squirrel!" Sophie got to one of the trees and waited for the squirrel on her broom to get out. It didn't. "You can go now, cute squirrel!" she waited. Nothing. "Go, I have to fly some more!" she shooed the starring squirrel away. Leaning to the side, Sophie made her way back to where the other students were flying around. |
#3 "Okay, concentrate," Silvia told herself as she took a deep breath. She may have gotten past that first squirrel attack, but there were still many more squirrels to be avoided. She took a quick glance around, then sped forward and down, occasionally making a detour in her path to avoid another student or squirrel. When a squirrel just so happened to fly into her path and head directly towards her, she yanked the broom upward and ascended faster than she was comfortable with. But the result was that the squirrel was no longer flying at her. "Phew, that was close," the young Ravenclaw said. Silvia turned and directed her broom to an area that seemed to have a few less squirrels flying about. She looked around her and everything seemed clear; no squirrels behind her or in front of her, so she sped forward. Suddenly she felt the broom shift slightly and turned to look behind her. A squirrel was clinging tightly to the back of her broom! How did it get there? She was sure there weren't any squirrels flying behind her when she checked a moment ago. How was she supposed to get it off without magic? |

Post 2 It was clear he wasn't the only one who was rattled by the presense of the flying squirrels, the sounds of surprise and screaming could easily heard coming from the various flyers in the air. The fact that they were living creatures versus charmed objects added a certain dimension to the whole situation. For while some seemed to just be trying to get from one point to another, there were some who seemed quite interested in the humans in their way. Gideon suddenly ducked down, his broom lowering with a jerk as another squirrel crossed his path, warning him he was still in the flight path. "Great...now what to do..." he mused allowed sending himself forward for a bit, avoiding a flailing student in the process. Animals and classmates were certainly dangers in the air to be aware of like Vindictus had mentioned. |

Looking around, Sophie tried to think what to do with the squirrel she was holding. Not knowing where to put it, she placed him on the handle of her broom and tried taking the other squirrel off her head. In the attempt, she started spinning around in circles. |

Post 4 Selina felt like she was back in time in one of those black and white movies. Ever since she and Kurumi had watched the Lion King for Muffled Studies the fourth year had been fascinated in the whole art of the cinema. Muffled were brilliant, but she felt as if she was stuck in a never ending loop of one of those old slapstick comedy movies. It was so odd to her. She was riding on her broomstick getting chased by a flying squirrel. Only silly things like that happened in cinema. There was no way she could really actuallu be doing this, but she was and she had been for the past several minutes. She pulled hee broomstick up a tad to come to a swift stop. Once she was sitting in the air she turned her broom around to face her chaser. With a nod she let the thing know she was coming for it. It's eyes widened and she leaned forward into her broom chasing the squirrel. |
Post 2 Ella was flying quite fast now. Zigzagging as best she could to get around the squirrels and her classmates. This is the craziest obstacle course I've ever done! She had done well since grazing the little bugger who had jumped out in front of her at the start of this madness and was feeling quite confident...well, that was until her vision was suddenly obscured by something furry and...warm. "Get off!" Ella went from calm to crazed in record time. She couldn't see and was afraid of crashing into a classmate or worse, a tree. She frantically tried to pull the little guy off but the squirrel's class were tangled in Ella's hair. What the heck am I supposed to do? |

#4 Aurora held herself still as she looked around, checking for squirrels, she thought she was relatively safe until she saw a couple of them flying right towards her. WhatdoIdowhatdoIdo... she thought, she leaned forwards to make the broom go and then shifted her weight slightly to the right, successfully avoiding the squirrels, though a third one had appeared and was currently making itself comfortable on her knee. She jumped slightly as she saw it and, startled, it took off again. Aurora sighed... there was no way she was ever going to be a competent flier. This was a nightmare. She absolutely hated it. Pushing down on the broom handle slightly she prepared to go lower. She was going to have to land soon... |
Post 5 The crazy redhead waved her hands in the air as she mindlessly chased the squirrel that once pursued her. Morty, as she had named him, was now undergoing the rather of Selina Skylar. He could not understand what he had gotten himself into when he had decided to chase her away and out of his pack. Now she was swerving in and out, left and right, up and down to Chase the flying squirrel. She grinned evilly as she chased the thing that was now making a little squeaking noise. She almost hit a first year before she swooped underneath them. She had a squirrel to catch. |
5 Taylor dived down until she was hovering over the ground. There seem to not be as many squirrels or people to avoid here and she needed a break from them. She did a few rounds without having to avoid that many things. Taylor then pulled up and flew to 80 feet in the air and started chasing the squirrels around, bored of trying to avoid or run away from them. She got bored of chasing them so she turned around and let them chase her. Taylor avoided a few students and squirrels here and there. |
Post #4. "GEDDOFF." Was all Darwin could manage, as he felt the squirrel climb up his back and rest on his shoulders. It would fly, couldn't it? The others were, so unless it was injured he couldn't understand why it was acting so scared, It had it in for him, Darwin was sure of it. He tried to eye the creature over his shoulder, but as he did it clambered on top of his head. Annoyed, frustrated, and, he wouldn't admit, slightly scared that it was going to scratch him or something, he frantically shook his head, once, twice, and three times, to no avail. The squirrel seemed to be clinging to his hair for dear life, and Darwin didn't want to take his hands off of the broom to dislodge it. "Canyougetoffmyheadplease?" he said, through gritted teeth, clutching onto the broom that he felt like he was loosing control of. He wasn't, though, he realised as he dodged past another group of the animals. It was a close swerve, and he was pretty sure another one was attempting to converse with the one perched on top of him as they passed, and maybe even trying to join it. But Darwin wouldn't let that happen, he couldn't. As he turned a sharp left to evade another couple, he knew that he would never be feeding the squirrels at the park ever again. |

#4 Sophie was still spinning around in circles when she finally managed to get the squirrel off her head. She was holding the broom with only one of her hands again and made sure it stopped spinning. "You crazy, mr squirrel??" she said starring at the squirrel she was holding. "You could've killed me!" Deciding to put those freaky squirrels back on the tree, she made a curve to the right and headed back to where she had left the first squirrel. On the way, another squirrel came flying and she leaned to the right to avoid being hit by it. As soon as she sat up straight on the broom, she had to lean to the left to avoid another flying squirrel. "Goodness, this is getting worse!!" she thought, still holding the broom with only one hand. |

Finally, the squirrel let go after what felt like hours and whooshed off, probably looking for someone else to treat at their own personal air taxi. Now that that thing was gone, Alex realized just how...FAST he was going. HOW DID HE STOP AGAIN?! Panicking, he noticed that his friend Aurora had "Sorry Aurora!" he called as he took off in embarrassment in the other direction. Gahhh, he was such a failure at this whole flying thing. |
6 Taylor flew for a few more minutes. She started to wonder what the professor would say next or if it is already time to go. Taylor almost got hit by a squirrel, pulling her out of her thoughts. She zigzagged a little out of control but finally manage to get complete control again. Taylor flew around the pitch a few more times. She zigzagged all the way to avoid everything that was flying around. |
Post 6 She was starting to catch up to Morty. The little devil could not outrun her forever. Her nose hovered over the hilt of her broom that was how close she was holding on. The fact that she was so close pushed hee broom to reach faster and faster speeds, which caught her up with Morty the flying squirrel. Each moment she flew she was getting closer and closer to the squirrel. Her legs wrapped tight around the broom she stuck her one arm out to grab the squirrel. Finally she could feel her fingertips graze Morty's wing. Biting down on her lip she inched forward just a bit more and grabbed Morty in her hand. She screamed in victory, but then she heard the squirrel squeak in pain. She unwound her fingers from around Morty and saw that he was unharmed. In fact, he was just nervous. Selina stopped her broom and sat up om the broom. Morty was starring at her with big worried eyes. She smiled at him and his eyes softened. She grinned at him and said, "Aww... Your kind of cute.". It's eyes seemed to sparkle at her. She giggled and said, "Hi Morty... I'm Selina.". Morty seemed to like her hello and climed up on her shoulder to rub its nose against her cheek. Then it nuzzled into Selina's neck and cooed. She giggled again and yelled to Vindictus, "Professor!!!!!!! Can I keep him?" |
Post #5. Darwin braked sharply upon making his decision to not ever look at or feed or speak to a squirrel ever again. Not that he'd ever tried to have a conversation with one before - no, right now was his first time. "Look, please can you get off of my head?" he began, his voice coming out a little more pleading than he'd intended. "I'm scared you're going to hurt me, or worse, that I'll hurt you, and not only would Brooke probably kill me but I might lose points or get detention or something and I really haven't been here long and I don't want that." His slight, usual hyperness was causing his speach to be fast and almost silly sounding - that was if speaking to a squirrel wasn't silly enough. Of course, it didn't know who Brooke was, and it didn't care that this was his first year. And why? Because it was a squirrel. Dropping a few feet on his broom to avoid another flyer, Darwin felt a lighter, and realised that the drop had finally dislodged the squirrel from his head. He whooped with glee, until he realised that it meant that the squirrel was above him now, and falling. Sharply turning, he moved out from under it to avoid it, gaining a little more height as he did so, and turning to watch it's descent. He didn't want it to get hurt, no matter how much he didn't like it. Luckily, at the last moment, it darted off into another tree and he breathed a sigh of relief. |
