post 3 SPOILER!!: yooou ‘SHEW!’, Gwen kept gesturing with her hand, hoping that the squirrel will eventually go away. Maybe if I speed up, it will fall down!, the Ravenclaw thought and was about to lean forward. However, in that moment, she heard a familiar voice behind her… shout? Oh my! It will fall down… YOU DON’T SAY!? ‘So?’, the third year said. That’s exactly what I want!, Gwen wanted to snap back but didn’t. ‘And what am I supposed to do?’, she asked calmly and raised her eyebrows. Go away already!!!, the girl looked back at the creature. How did Vindictus even come up with this idea? Bringing squirrels to the flying class… and who knows what’s going to be next! |
Post One Maybe she had misunderstood the professor because she was concentrating so hard on kicking up off the ground. Squirrels...she was really losing it. As she hovered in the air she decided to lean forward to get some speed. As soon as she was going pretty good sure enough there were squirrels...everywhere. Was there even such thing as a herd of squirrels??? This was nuts. She tried to speed up even more thinking she could out fly them. Just as she was making a right turn a squirrel latched on to her leg and was holding on for dear life. "AHHHHH!!!!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. She didn't care if they were just squirrels it was a CREATURE touching HER leg. As she was screaming she automatically pulled up on her broom and almost through herself off the broom. She was able to keep her head and somehow managed to not fall off of her broom. Merlin's beard she had only been up here for two minutes. This was going to be a long lesson. She could already feel it. |

The little creature seemed to like that Beezus was trying to catch it because it was dashing here and there. It was pretty good with running on the end of Gwen's school broom. "Come here, you!" the young eaglet returned both her hands on the broom and hovered it just above her fellow eagle. The squirrel was still sprinting like mad, then it suddenly stopped midway and paced back its steps. Thank Godric, it's going back to the end of the broom she thought, but she certainly thought wrong for it widened its arms and got ready to...JUMP? in the direction of Gwen's head? "Gwen! DUCK!" Beezus quaked. |
Post #5 Now that the squirrel problem was solved, Nora allowed her broom to take her high up in the air once again, and tried to relax for a moment, feeling the breeze against her skin. She made a few turns, avoiding other students and flying squirrels, speeding from time to time, and then slowing down. Deciding it was about time to at least try to be brave, she flew until she was about thirty feet off the ground, hoping the creatures wouldn't come after her up there. But that was when she heard and felt it. SMACK! ... They were supposed to avoid squirrels, yes, she knew that, but what was she supposed to do if one crashed right into her back and actually decided to stay there?! |

Great! This is just great!, the young Ravenclaw thought and looked back at the squirrel. Why won’t you go away!?, she wanted to scream, but managed to control herself. ‘So tell me- why can’t I just knock it off?’, the third year asked and looked at the girl who’s name she didn’t remember. Psh. Stupid creature, she looked coldly at the squirrel. ‘Duck? Why?’, she asked, but did so anyway. ‘AAAA! Crazy squirrel’, the girl almost screamed. Not even minding to look at the other girl, Gwendolyn leaned forward and started flying as fast as possible. She wasn’t going to stay there and make the other ‘Claw think she’s crazy. She probably already does, but meh… Zooming around the pitch, Gwendolyn touched her forehead with her left hand. Oooh … I’m not feeling so well, she thought and couldn’t wait for this class to end. Pfuah. Another one!? ‘You have got to be kidding me!’, the third year mumbled and looked at the two squirrels in front of her. WOW! I can’t believe I managed to avoid them! Nice going!, Gwen felt the need to congratulate herself. There… I will survive this Flying lesson. |
Post 4. and a bit of Gwen..xD GULP. She felt her knees shaken. Why.. Gwendolyn almost knocked the magic out of her when the girl just zoomed suddenly off like that. Beezus understood now though. Not all cute squirrels are good, some are deceitful. Yeah, probably true. She just stared dumbfounded when the squirrel jumped off the broom when her fellow eagle had darted forward. There was even no need for her to be worried about the creature! It perfectly knew well how to fly with that skin that it uses when it outstretches its arms. No need to worried about the squirrels Beezus, better worry about yourselves. She commented mentally. Then she glanced at Gwen's direction and saw that the girl was still bantering with a few squirrels on the lose. "You're doing great Gwen!" she teased as she flew somewhere else. |
Post #6 Now what was she supposed to do with the squirrel that didn't want to get off her back? Other than scream? No, of course she couldn't scream, because she knew she looked insane enough, and she didn't want professor Vindictus to get mad at her. "Get off!" She said, shaking her back until she finally felt that it flew away and left her alone. Good. This one wasn't so stubborn as the last one. And now... what could she possibly to do make the squirrels stay away from her? She decided to keep flying at a normal speed, only praying that they would leave her alone. |
Post #2 Vlimia was turning effortlessly, more enjoying the veiw than trying. She was having a flashback to when she was allowed to fly in snow... when a furry little creature dug it's claws into her sock! A squirrel. Vlimia hovered and tried to untangle the little guy's miniature claws from the threads in her sock. The squirrel kept lashing out and hissing, though. Finally Vlim got it's sharp claws out of her sock and flew over to a tree. Placing the furry creature that had caused her so much trouble on a very low branch so he didn't start again, she flew off. After a little more turning, Vlimia noticed that her ankle had started to bleed a little. That little squirrel had been digging it's claws into it's saviour's ankle as well! Dang that little beast. Vlim hovered once more, and muttered "Episkey." If she could heal a broken toe with her father's wand, then she could heal a |
1 After taking off a strange and yet very familiar creature came out of the tree. Squirrels!!! Not just any squirrel though. A flying squirrel. Jezzabelle freaked out and try to fly away as fast as possible. She didn't like squirrels. They scared the poo out of her for a reason she didn't even understand. Looking out for all the students she went from one tree the the next. She felt a light thump upon the back end of the broom and turned to see.... "AHH!" A squirrel. She wanted to move forward on the broom to get away from the little creature but she could not take the risk of falling. It hopped a little close to her and she let out a little girly shriek. "Don't come any closer please." She looked around her watching for students and more squirrels. |
Post #1. Darwin was still unsure if he liked flying - sure, he liked being in the air, but he was pretty sure this broom had a mind of his own, and he was pretty sure it didn't like being up there. Either that, or it didn't like him being on it. Kicking off hard from the ground again, he felt the broom accelerate upwards, shaking and wobbly, and gripped the handle further to attempt to control it. He could do this, he could so do this. All he had to do was be confident, right? Confident and then the broom would like him and he could enjoy flying. "ARGHH." Just as he'd decided to be confident and cool, a FLYING SOMETHING came at him from the side, and he dropped his height a little, out of fright. When his broom had steadied, he looked around him. They were squirrels, cute little furry things that were leaping or flying or SOMETHING from tree to tree and that one had nearly scared the living daylights out of him. He could feel his eleven year old heart beating like he'd just won the Sports Day Sack Race again, and he eyed the squirrel as he tried, again, to gain more height. |
Post Two Hannah was finally able to shake the creature from her leg. HER leg the nerve. Flying squirrels she thought with a shake of her head. Beats all she has ever seen. Obviously you could not out fly them so she opted to outsmart them. She tried to veer to the left and right without any rhyme or reason. Afterall how smart could a squirrel really be. Hannah was focused she had to watch out for her classmates as well as annoying flying squirrels. She zigged and zagged all around and was making pretty good progress a whole minute had passed and she hadn't hit anyone and no squirrels had made her broom a second home. Maybe focus was the key? |
#2 Was Silvia seeing things correctly? Were some of the students actually chasing the squirrels? She watched as an older Gryffindor student flew past under her, her arms outstretched in the direction of a squirrel. Didn't they know that squirrels were not the most friendly creatures? And wasn't the point of this exercise to avoid the squirrels, not capture them? Silvia continued flying in a circle, occasionally ascending or descending when she saw a squirrel heading in her direction. Suddenly she heard a shout, followed by another. She turned her head to look around. A squirrel was actually clinging to another student's arm! That can't possibly feel good. I knew these creatures weren't very nice. Uh oh, big mistake. The moment her attention had been distracted a squirrel appeared out of nowhere, right in front of her. "Ahh!" she shouted, and she jerked the broom handle as hard as she could to the right, an action that nearly unseated her and sent her spinning slightly. "OW!" she cried. The thing she had just tried to dodge had grabbed her hair! Luckily it hadn't managed to hold on and it glided away, a few strands of her hair in its grasp. "I've got to be more careful," she muttered to herself, a little unnerved by what just happened. |
Post #2. Stupid squirrel, trying to scare him. Darwin eyed the animal, watching it as it landed in the next tree, and turned to eye him back. The broom seemed to like the squirrel even less than he did, quivering underneath him as he tried to hold it still. Or maybe that was just him. Probably, although he wasn't going to admit that as he saw another squirrel come at him from the left and he angled his broom up to evade it, and then to the right to evade another. Where where they coming from?! They were weird and odd and THAT ONE WAS STILL LOOKING AT HIM. It had it in for him, Darwin was sure of it, sure as he hated his name and preferred 'Damon', which was very sure. And as if on cue at this thought, the Squirrel jumped again. Darwin swerved around, and attempted speed to get away from the animal, but seemingly he had no such luck. With a slight thud, he felt the back of the broom take weight it wasn't used to, and drop slightly backwards. |
post 5 OOOh… too many squirrels, Gwen thought and started to fly lower and lower, until she finally landed. Raising her head, the Ravenclaw realized she won’t be able to avoid them all. She didn’t do very well until now, but she was capable of much worse… I should get back up there, the third year told herself and did so. ‘They are just too many…’, Gwendolyn mused and tried to avoid as many of them as possible. Go AWAY!, she wanted to scream, and even hit them, but managed not to. But that would probably cause much much worse. Better just fly. Fly straight forward, the girl told herself. Pfuah… I hate those things! ‘Hmm?’, she mumbled and turned her head. Did someone just say ‘You're doing great Gwen’ or was it just in my head? Hmm…, the third year thought, and because she couldn’t spot anyone behind her that might have said that, the girl turned her head just in time to see… ANOTHER ANGRY SQUIRREL. *Gulp* |
#3 Aurora watched the squirrels flying around, her hands almost glued to her broom handle. Okay, the squirrels seemed less dense higher up... but it was higher. Eeeep! Oh well, she was going to have to grin and bear it. She gently lifted the handle of the broom upwards and her broom began to rise, ducking a few times to dodge the onslaught of squirrels. Ahh, it was better up here, there weren't many squirrels up here. In fact, it was getting easier. She flew forwards a bit and turned around, leaning right to do so. Then she glanced down to look at the squirrels... OHMERLINTHISWASHIGHUP!!!! Her eyes widened slightly as she saw the ground so far below and she snapped her head back up again, determining not to look down again unti she was safely on the ground. |
Post Three Hannah zigged and zagged a little bit more and that was when her luck ran out. It was as if 5 squirrels teamed up and were destined to get her. She thought at first that maybe her eyes were playing tricks on her so she did a quick zig to the left and sure enough all 5 of those same squirrels followed her. This is insane she had never heard of a flying money and now there was a flying monkey posse. Hannah kept trying her scattered tatics thinking that she could throw them off with no such luck. In a flash one had locked himself on Hannah's left arm and then another on her right. All the while the other 3 flew circles around her head. "ACK!!!" she bellowed. She was trying to keep a level head so she wouldn't do anything drastic and hurt herself or others. She decided that maybe she needed to do something sudden...throw them off of their game. She decided to brake. She sat up straight and brought her broom towards her, but nothing happened. All she managed to do was brake. These things have a major grip. You would think they attended the charm lessons with Hannah earlier and took notes on the gripping charm the professor taught them earlier. Merlin's Beard shaking these furry animals was not going to be an easy task. Maybe one of her fellow classmates will see her distressed and lend a helping hand. |
Post 1 Squirrels. Vindictus could not be serious. Of all of the bloody things- then again weirder things had happened in this class. One could not forget the giant spider that she saw once in this class and the redhead hated spiders. They were her least favorite bloody animals. 'Course flying rodients did not help the case of Selina's nerves. Besides, she was just about to land when the squirrels came flying in. In a panic she pulled her broom up making her body shoot straight up in the air. They were everywhere!!! |
Post #3 After taking care of her little squirrel problem and the cut it had given her, Vlimia decided to touch back down to the ground, to practice liftoff again. She floated down airily, enjoying the springy ground while she could. While Vlim loved flying, she sometimes felt an empty feeling of nothing for support. It had washed away over the years, but a speck of it still remained. Vlimia kicked off a little harder than her first time, earning the broom a rough height of 27 feet. Vlim tried starting and stopping abruptly, going down very fast, going up very fast, going sideways very fast, and doing all of the above as slowly as she could. Flying was pretty fun, but these brooms were a little wobbly. Nothing like the racing broom she had at home. Oh well, only one more year until she could bring her own broomstick! |
post 6 There… just go fast by it and lean to the left, … you can do it, Gwen told herself and looked at the squirrel standing right in front of her. If I survive this lesson, I’m going to… well… I won’t do anything. I’ll just be happy to be one of the survivors. Here goes… *turn to the left* ‘Ack!’, the third year said loudly. Because she leaned too much to the left, Gwen completely lost her balance and was now holding tightly to the broomstick. I’m so going to fall down!, she thought and felt her hands started shaking. Nononono… I can’t even regain my balance… how would it be possible to get back on that broomstick if my hands are shaking! Making a great effort, Gwendolyn managed to get back on her broomstick. She then took a deep breath and started flying a bit lower, just to make sure the squirrels won’t be attacking her (at least for a while). There… just fly around, the Ravenclaw told herself and hoped this part of the lesson will end SOON. |
It took a few seconds but Selina finally got her broom under control. The flying squirrel things were just in the way. She wanted to land but she could not even make her way through the hoard of them that had made their way onto the pitch. Every time she thought she saw an opening a squirrel would pop up and fly at her. She swerved in and out of the pack until she finally found her opening. She escaped the bunch and took a deep breath. She was clear.... |
Post #4 Vlimia decided that flying normally was getting a bit old, so she tried to do everything she had just done (going up, down, sideways, etc.) in a zig-zag pattern. Going sideways was fine, and up was okay, but going down went a little too fast. At the last minute Vlim pulled up and let the broom go ever so slowly downwards. When she could, Vlimia set her feet down on the ground. She felt a little scared, but more exhilarated than anything. Pushing off the ground, Vlimia braked quickly so she was just above the tallest branch of a tree. Vlim kept taking off like that until she was exactly in line with the small leaf sprouting from that top branch. And that was very hard. |
post 3 She was clear of all of the creepy and crawly winged squirrels. It was as if she had made it out of the darkness... Until a squirrel noticed that she was out of the way of the crowd. With crazy eyes it locked its eyes on Selina and spun its body around to face her. Selina gulped in fear and said, "Oh Merlin..." The squirrel no doubt sensed her fear and, if squirrels could, she swore it smirked at her. As fast she shw could she turned her broom around, but the squirrel locked on its Target and started to chase Selina up and down the pitch. All the while she rambled nonsense about squirrels... They were worse than spiders. |
Post Four Apparently it was everybody for themselves out here. Not that she could really blame them. It seemed as if everyone was trying their best to just stay on the broom much less trying to save others. She did a couple of more loops and they were still firmly planted on her limbs. Ok so maybe she could talk to the squirrels. Coax them off of her perhaps? "Err...can y'all let me go please?" Ok it's official Hannah has lost it... not only is she talking to these annoying furry things, but she's talking nicely with them, pleading even. Oh well whatever works she thought. It seemed as if her voice startled them because they loosened their grip and Hannah used their moment of weakness to her advantage. She took a sharp turn to the left and leaned down towards the broom and zoomed off. She couldn't believe it but she actually got rid of not one but FIVE squirrels. She felt accomnplished and couldn't help but to wonder how much longer the class was. |
#1 Sophie pushed off the ground once again. This time she was pretty confident and sure she would have a lot of fun. She was curious to know what they would be "avoiding" in mid air. "Bludgers, maybe?" she thought to herself, looking around. When the first squirrel came flying in their direction she couldn't help herself. "Awwwww!!" she smiled at the sight of the cute little creature. She leaned to the left and went up a bit more, so she could take a better look at the cute squirrel better as it made its way through the air. The other students screams startled Sophie and she almost fell off her broom. "What in the world?? They're just squirrels! They won't kill you guys..." she said grabbing the broom more tightly and going up to take another look at the overall view of flying squirrels. |
1 Taylor saw the flying squrriels coming across the pitch. She zigzagged and kept changing how high she was flying, trying to avoid them. Taylor was very tense as she tried to avoid them. One of the squirrels seems to be coming right at her. Taylor pulled up, trying to avoid the squirrel and accidently did a flip. |
