Flying Lesson #1 Flying Basics When Tuesday, 10 January @ 9pm EST until Friday, January 13 @ 11pm EST Where The Practice Pitch Who Can Attend First Years and those who wish to brush up on their basic flying skills What to Bring School brooms will be provided for all students to use Any First Year who brings their own broom will lose 15 house points for breaking the long-standing school rule about First Years not being allowed brooms. Arguing with Professor Vindictus regarding this rule will result in an automatic detention and possibly losing more points. Two neat rows of brooms were laid out on the green grass of the Quidditch pitch. Nearby stood Professor Vindictus who was awaiting the arrival of the students who wished to attend the first flying lesson of the school term. |
Silvia was one of the first to show up for Flying class. She couldn’t wait to begin flying! She didn’t think she was athletic enough to play quidditch, but just flying in general promised to be quite fun. She would definitely have to get her own broom sometime. “Hello Professor,” she said as she walked over to where the brooms were and stood near one on the end of a row, eager to start. |
Selena didn't like brooms. At all. They were scary and she still couldn't seem to manage to fly decently on one of them. "Hello Professor Vindictus," Selena said, moving a bit hesitantly closer to the pitch. "How are you today?" she asked, looking at all the brooms. Yup, definitely wasn't a fan of them. |
Kennedy made his way down to the pitch with the anticipation to fly a broom. He hasn't flown one since the end of last term. Why? Well, because he couldn't fly in front of Muggles and...his mom's broom wasn't magical. When he reached the pitch he smiled at the instructor. "Good day, Professor Vindictus," he greeted. |
She walked over and stood infront of one of the brooms,"Hello Professor." She muttered and waite for instructions. |
Nate walks down to the quidditch pitch and says "Hello professor. How are you. |
Taylor walked down onto the pitch, "Good day professor." Taylor smiled. She nodded hi to her cousin, Nate. |
Ahhh...flying class. Not a class he necessarily needed nor was required to take, but a class he liked because it allowed him more opportunity to be up in the air and ...well fly...then just quidditch or flying in his free time. Gideon made his way down to the pitch, chosing to leave his broom where it was stored safely. After a few incidents of it risking destruction, he opted to use the school brooms for class. "Good day, Professor Vindictus," he greeted with a polite nod at the quidditch and flying professor. The boy taking in the lines of brooms and the few students already gathered. |
Flying. Selina loved this class. She knew that it was more for the younger students who did not know how to fly, not the Captain of their house's Quidditch team, but in all honesty Selina really liked this class and Vindictus. From the giant spiders to all of the crazy classes in between, Selina had encountered some crazy flying lessons. They were always a good time and she would be off her rocker to miss one because she felt that she did not need to take it. Besides, technique when it came to flying was very important. She was sure that she would learn something from Vindictus, she always did. The tiny redhead walked out onto the Pitch and smiled at Vindictus, "Hello sir, enjoy your summer?" |
As Lily walked out onto the pitch, she saw a few people standing near some brooms on the ground. Good thing, I read about quiddich last night. she though to herself. As she reached the group, she saw the professor. "Hello Professor, I'm Lily Potter, First year Ravenclaw. It's a pleasure meeting you." She said to the Professor before moving to where the others were standing to wait for instruction. |
"Good day everyone," greeted Professor Vindictus. "Welcome to the first flying lesson of the year! Please select a broomstick and stand to the right of it." |
Nate walks around and finds a broomstick. He goes to the right side of it. |
SPOILER!!: pre vindy post Then Professor Vindictus began the lesson and with a nervous sigh, Kurumi made her way over to the brooms and grabbed one before returning to her spot on the pitch. |
Taylor picked a broom and go to the right of it. |
Okay... so Mortimer was embarrassed to admit that flying was NOT his strong suite. SIGHS FOR LIFE. Nodding as his head of house spoke he did as he was instructed and selected a broom... albeit the school brooms were not GREAT and he was a bit freaked out by them. Heh. Standing to the right of said selected broom he tucked his hands in his pockets and WAITED. |
She stood at the right of the one she chose and waited sliently. |
Flying was probably the most exciting thing to Hades. When it was time for the first flying lesson, he didn't waste any time and headed straight for the practice pitch. "Good morning, Professor V... Van... Vindictus!" greeted the boy after a few moment trying to recall the flying instructor's name. Hades thought those guys at Durmstrang had difficult names to remember, but Hogwarts was just the same. After choosing a broom by just looking at them, he quickly stood next to it before someone else did. What now? |
Minerva selected a broom. She needed all the practice she could get. She went back over to where the others were and stood to the right of it. |
Selina said nothing when Kurumi whispered to her except smirk at her friend. She knew that her smirk was more than enough to let Kurumi know that she was deviously pleased her best friend had attended class. It was the least Kurumi could do being that she was not trying out for the team this year. As Vindictus instructed she grabbed a broom and stood to the right of it. |
WOOT! Flying class! That was one subject she would always enjoy. Not to mention that their Head of House was the one teaching it. Beezus arrived at the Quidditch Pitch with pretty much a high spirit and overflowing excitement. She's mostly looking forward to what they'd be doing today. Last term, they had flying spiders over the Pitch and so many more. Back then she wasn't allowed to bring her own broom since she was still a first year but now, she's got one... Her mind was running elsewhere so she didn't had the chance to greet Professor Vindictus. She was only brought back to reality when he asked them to pick a broom. She quickly looked around and walked right next to a shabby yet strong looking broom |
Right. Brooms. Totally safe things. No. They were just waiting to snap on you in the middle of the air. Moving over to one of the brooms on the ground, she stood to the right of it, a bit shaky and definitely NOT ready to take off into the air and die or something. Selena just hoped that it wouldn't snap. They all had strengthening charms or something right? She wasn't going to die... hopefully. Brooms were friends... not the ene- who was she kidding? The broom was going to hate her. Just like chores with brooms. |
Kennedy nodded and went to get a broom. He stood to the right of it and began to wonder. The snake REALLY hoped that they wouldn't be dealing with MASSIVE spiders...not because he was scared...but, you know, for the first years. Now, if it was flying candy, then that would be sweeet! |
Gideon noticed both Selina and Kurumi arrive on the pitch one by one within the gathering group, giving them each a gentle smile. He then heard Vindictus return the greeting to the class, calling for their attention and beginning the lesson so his full attention returned to the professor. Right...chose a broom. The Gryffindor followed the lead of the others, moving to claim a broom of his own and standing just to the right of it ready to begin. |
Travis looked around... did he miss something? Everyone was moving now. That's not fair. Why were people doing stuff without telling Travis? He pouted a bit as he attempted to understand what was going on. Warm-up walking maybe? Travis didn't like warming up, it was boring. Oh wait. They were getting brooms. Duh. Trav chuckled at his own slow thought process, before moving to the rack to getting one of the brooms. They all seemed the same, no real point in being picky. But something was bugging him. He'd never actually called a broom... that seemed wrong, as did the instructions. "Um...'scuse me, sir. But What if you're left hand dominant?" Trav wasn't comfortable doing it on his right side, that was the whole point of having dominant side... to be comfortable, right? |
Isabelle grabbed one of the brooms and moved to the right of it looking around at the other people who were here. She was excited to get out and flying. It was always an up of her year, being able to fly. Standing there she waited to find out what was happening next. Hopefully they would get to fly like a lot. She didn't want to be just hovering there. |
