Regardless of the chilly weather during the winter season and the cool stone colored tones of the room, the dueling arena was comfortably warm. The arena itself would perhaps look different to some of the older students if they were able to get a look at it in the past. The dueling platform, target dummies, and even the stands were moved around in different locations, pushed to the side mostly, leaving a nice big empty space in the middle of the room. In that space were the familiar deep purple colored mats from the previous lesson lined up accordingly, including the deep red colored mat up at the front in-between the stands where Professor Romanos was currently seated, and in front of each purple mat was something that looked like a miniature tray. There won't be any food during the lesson unfortunately, but these trays will be acting as your desks. Unlike the last lesson, the room is illuminated and practically glowing from the winter sunlight streaming through the windows, giving the area a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Perhaps even make a few sleepy, but never fear. There will be no time to sleep during this class. And do ignore the added doorway in the back of the room. As strange as it's placement is, no one is allowed back there.
OOC: Please come in and take a seat on one of the mats [and be familiar with the rules and expectations]. The lesson will begin in about 12 18 hours or so.
Class has officially begun! Please don't post arriving late. Jump in as if your character has been here the entire time.
Final Task
Use of the Disarming and Shield Charms ONLY.
1st - 4th Years = No sense of SOUND
5th - 7th Years = No sense of SIGHT. You are all blindfolded.
It is alright to be disoriented and not get things right on the first couple of tries. Perhaps your aim is off or you can't say the spell correctly because you can't hear yourself speak. No one is perfect. It is okay. The Professor will be keeping a close eye on things, so please, no fatal injuries. And perhaps no drastic damage to the arena either. It's rather sturdy.
I'll give you a few days to RP, and we'll come to a close on things around the 13th.

"You can go first," Alice said, giving a quick nod to Kurumi before turning back to her partner. She readied herself for the Disarming spell that was soon going to come her way, trying to think of numerous ways to deflect it.
"All right, Here i go." Maxwell said pulling his wand and steadying his footing. He pointed it forward. "Expelliarmus!" The spell shooting from his wand.

Hearing the professor speak up and call for anyone without a partner, Sierra frowned and made her way up. This sort of thing made her feel like a failure, even though she knew she wasn't. She just hated having to head to the professor to find a partner.
"Er, Professor? I still need a partner," she said.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

It's didn't hurt to much. He said reassuring Alyssa. I'm gonna try it in different hands, see which one feels better
He moved his wand over to his right hand and pointed it at Alyssa. To get the feel of the movement before he cast the spell he waved his wand in the lower case "d" shape. That feels just about right. "Huh.. Okay. Relax. Take a deep breath first, then do it again. Just like this." She took a deep breath, concentrated, then she pointed her wand and try the spell again.
"Expelliarmus!" said her incantation loudly.

Jacques had been watching, he had been listening and he was now confident he could do what was needed. All that was left was for him to find himself a partner. A suitable one that wouldn't hurt him somehow, it was a simple disarming spell but Merlin only knew what he would get himself into by somehow tripping over his own feet and causing some controversy that would draw attention to himself. "I don't have a partner professor!" He spoke too loudly, he was conscious of it only after his last word. He wasn't supposed to speak that loudly apparently.
He seemed the only one without a partner so he figured he'd wait for someone to be finished practicing or perhaps he could practice on his own some more so to ensure he did not poke someones eye out with his wand. That would be messy business and he wasn't up for cleaning his wand of eye gunk.

Alyssa closed her eyes when she saw the beam of light headed for her, then she quickly opened them when she realized that it was the wrong thing to do. Okay, he really started to feel rather silly holding up his sign but then again, how else was he supposed to find a partner his age? So holding up a sign it was. Somehow all around him people were pairing up - even Gwen had found a partner! - and he was kind of scared that he would have to go to the front and tell the Yoga Professor that he was partner-less, when...

Jumping a little when all of a sudden somebody tapped his shoulder from behind, Lewis whirled around, quickly lowering his piece of parchment. It was the Prefect guy. The one who liked it when he copied his movements. "H-hello." Lewis hence replied slowly, doing his best to sound just like the Ravenclaw Prefect.
What WAS his name anyway?!
Eino waited anxiously as the boy turned around and opened his mouth. Yep, there it was. Not a stutter short. The boy had repeated Eino, exactly. Maybe he had a mouth curse, or something, like that previous Ancient Runes professor. Hmmm. This was fixable. Eino would have to consider making him an anti-curse badge or something. Taking him to the hospital would probably work, too.
"So," Eino began widening his eyes, "do you want to practice with me?" Well, if the boy repeated this then it was certainly off to the Hospital Wings... or better yet, St. Mungo's. He watched the boy intently as he anxiously waited for an answer.

She wasn't that unaware of the predicament the three girls were in, though she didn't have a huge problem with it; someone else needed a partner as well. "I vouldn't have a problem vith you three being partners, though Mister Gabriel here needs a partner." she said as she walked over to them, gesturing on over to the young Slytherin boy. "Any volunteers?"
Otherwise she was gunna be choosy for them.

Shaking her head a little, Medea looked at her watch before out to the rest of the class. "Most of you look to be doing fine vith the disarming charm, so you can go ahead and move on to practicing the shield charm as vell." As well as continue their practice with the disarming spell. "Remember, it's an upward arcing flick, and the incantation is Protego. For those who are already comfortable vith this spell, you can try expanding it by adding a horizontal shift in your wand motion."

She looked over at the professor, who was announcing it was time for the Shield Charm now, too. MERLIN! Sierra had just found a partner! "Guess we better get started," she told the girl. She moved a good distance away and decided to go for a surprise attack. With a quick little 'd' motion just as the professor had taught, Sierra said, "Expelliarmus!"

Alright, he was finally going to be able to Disarm her, rather than just be blocked. He began to draw a 'd' with his wand, then thought the incantation. Expelliarmus! The jet of red light shot straight at her. He waited on tenterhooks to see what would happen.

Well, it looks like he may not have to get Disarmed after all. Good, I didn't want to have to go find my wand amidst this chaos, anyways. Plus he was excited to try that extra horizontal movement Romanos had discussed.

Ella stood up, brushing herself off with a sigh. She looked at Messer sheepishly and smiled, not blaming him for thinking it was a bomb. It sure sounded like one! But it wasn't a bomb after all... Just a crazy backfiring wand. Thank Merlin!She hoped her classmate was okay but Professor Romanos didn't seem to concerned so she figured she shouldn't be either. She shook her arms out, trying to loosen herself up a little after the scare.
"So uh-ready to get back to it?" She asked her partner.

Daichi laughed out loud as he heard that and as he turned around he looked at Jory in amusement. He knew he was trying to make him feel better and it had worked. "Yeah , i'm sorry" he said with one last chuckle.
Daichi smiled as Jory agreed to go first and tried to study his movement as he did the spell. He held his wand in his right hand and as he saw a blast of light coming his way. His first instinct was to dodge the sparks but refrained from doing so since this was still an practise.
He could do the next thing that came to his mind and that was clutching his Phoenix wand tightly in his hand. But it didn't work, as the spell landed on his hand, he felt the wand slip out of his hand and fell on the ground. "Woah" he said and looked at Jory before bending down to grab his wand.
"That was good!" he held his thumb up. Now it was his turn. Seeing that Jory could do it, Daichi figured he could do the same thing so he pointed his wand at the Hufflepuff. Jory grinned as Daichi burst out laughing. "Good,'' he thought ''Atleast he should be able to concentrate on the spell,''
The Huffie had honestly not expected the spell to work on his first try. But he couldn't help pumping his fist in the air as Daichi's wand fell to the floor. "Yeah!'' he exclaimed. "Thanks,'' he told Daichi returning the thumbs up.
Jory got ready for the spell to be cast on him. "Just concentrate,'' he told the Slythie. Daichi didn't seem to be concentrating, however. He had forgotten the incantation. Then he got half of it right. "It's not Expelliarius,'' Jory to him. "Its Expelliarmus. That's why nothing happened.'' He watched as Daichi shook his wand hard.
When the BAAAM went off, Jory nearly jumped out of his skin. "Are you ok?'' he asked the shocked looking Slytherin. Just then the Professor gave the next set of instructions. "You cast the spell and I'll use the shield charm, if you're ready,'' Jory said.
Kurumi winced a bit and grimaced. Oh Merlin...this wasn't going to end well, was it? No, she needed to think positive. It was all about intent, right? Kurumi tried one last time, tugging on the wand firmly, but found that it wasn't going to budge at all. "Okay, um...just hold really still..." she mumbled as she pulled up on his hair and swished her wand back and forth a few times. "Flipnsnipwitit...Flipnsnipwitit...."
It took a few swishes and some more tugs, but Kurumi eventually pulled the wand free...and with a rather large clump of curly hair attached to it. "Um...h-h-here..."
By holding really still Kennedy FROZE...not even his eyelids moved. He was completely still, but his mind was racing.
He could already imagine himself walking around with a bald spot his head. When Kurumi began with the spell he shut his eyes. It was better if he didn't see anything. He winced when she tugged on his hair, but as soon as he heard her voice again he opened one eye. "It's out?" he said, but his widened when she handed him his wand...along with a chunk of hair.
Oh gosh.
"T-Thanks," he said, patting the spot on his head. "It doesn't look bad...does it?" he whispered pointing at his head.
He was grateful this had not attracted the professor's attention. It would have made it more never wrecking for him.

Alyssa first practised the Shield Charm movements on her own. With an upward archng flick movement with her wand, Alyssa said, "Protego". She saw a bluish barrier form in front of her before disappearing. She practiced one more time before walking over to Oakey. "Do you want to try the Shield Charm or the Disarming one, Oakey? I'll let you choose."Alyssa asked him.
