And so far she hadn't ever really had to do any.

"Yes, I suppose we should." Sighing, she also went back a few steps. "Okay, that's better."

Right, so now that they were a few steps away from the rest of the students, Vashti sort of stood there, looking uncertainly over at Amelia, and waited nervously for the professor to blindfold them. This was going to be...interesting.

Wait, remember where your partner stood? Vashti glanced over at Amelia once more before suddenly everything went dark. Oh Merlin! Things were so different when she couldn't see anything. Where was Amelia again?

"You ready, Amelia?" she asked, perhaps a little louder than was necessary. She wasn't sure how far away her partner was anymore though, and she thought she needed to talk over the spell casting the other students were already doing.

"Thanks," he said, straightening to a normal stance as his partner retrieved his wand from where it had rolled.

When asked if he wanted to repeat the action, the Gryffindor meerly shook his head. "Nae...I'm good," he answered not needing to test the spell anymore since it had been successful the first time around. "Ye can work on disarming me this time," he added taking a deep breath and preparing himself for what was to come.

He did feel kinda bad that the shield charm hadn't be allowed at first but now it was. Maybe he would just allow the spell to hit him on premise? Give the Ravenclaw a boost of confidence. He raised his wand slightly in offense but not too threatening since he wanted his partner not to be too nervous when he cast.

Ok so now it was his turn to try the disarming spell. "Okay.... here we go!" he mumbled nervously. He raised his wand and with the disarming wand stroke uttered "Expelliarmus!"

Then again in his nervousness he may have been pointing a little far from Gideon's wand. Ooops.

SPOILER!!: Professah u know he's deaf right?!? rotlf!

"Alright. Everyone." Attention over here! She waited until they did so before continuing on. "Ve don't have that much time left in the class and I do vont to get to the portion where ve discussed taking away one sense. You all are doing very vell vith your spells, so I have no doubt that you'll be able to pull this off. I vos initially going to go through each separately, but for now since the lack of time, I'll be dividing you all up. First through fourth years, you'll have your sense of sound taken away, while fifth through seventh years, you'll be blindfolded to take away your sense of sight."

Fun, wasn't it? "Don't vorry. If you don't vont to do this, just raise your hand and tell me. Or if your preference is the other vay around, let me know. As for now, I'd advise you and your partner to take a few more steps away from everyone just for safety. I'll be keeping a lookout in case any spells go off course. So, spread out some more. There is enough room in here."

OOC: I'll give you guys a few hours to spread out, and then we'll get to the dueling portion. ;)

OOC: Use of the Disarming and Shield Charms ONLY.

1st - 4th Years = No sense of SOUND
5th - 7th Years = No sense of SIGHT. You are all blindfolded.

It is alright to be disoriented and not get things right on the first couple of tries. Perhaps your aim is off or you can't say the spell correctly because you can't hear yourself speak. No one is perfect. It is okay. The Professor will be keeping a close eye on things, so please, no fatal injuries. And perhaps no drastic damage to the arena either. It's rather sturdy.

I'll give you a few days to RP, and we'll come to a close on things around the 13th.

He turned when the Professor spoke, and his knees nearly buckled on her next words-- he was going to lose his sense of sight?!??? But he was extremely dependent on his sight, more than most normal people. Before he can utter any sound of protest he felt the blindfold wrap around his head and plunge him in total darkness.

Forget about nerves, now he was totally defensive. He could not see, and the world around him has been reduced to some form of chattering and incoherent buzzing which he could hear mostly from the right side of his head. He was always shy about his partial deafness, but it was only now that he felt what a gross disadvantage it was for him in matters like these "Gideon?!?!" the Ravenclaw blurted out, maybe a little too loudly and a bit haughtily. He doesnt know where the Gryffindor was, or if the other boy was talking he had no idea if he just talked over him.

Minerva listened the professor and then she reached Minerva tapping her head near her ears. She couldn't hear anything, she didn't think it would freak her out this much. She looked around with her anxiety coming back. She saw everyone but couldn't hear a thing. She looked at Justin with a bit of fear in her eyes. "DID YOU WANT TO GO FIRST?" she screamed not even knowing she screamed. Why was she talking to him, he couldn't hear her. She took a few deep breaths trying to calm down..

Justin looked at a freaked out Minerva and could sense her uneasiness. He gave her a confident yet reassuring look as he traced the D motion and said " Expelliamus. " as he tried disarming her. this lack of hearing greatly affected his balance yet his sight was enhanced periphrially.

So she kept a look all around and waited to see who would be sending spells her way.

We're they supposed to start? Oakey was just as confused as any other deaf 3rd year in the class right now. He looked until he found Alyssa again.

There she was. He walked over to her and tapped her on the back. I think we need to duel? Oakey thought to her. Can you read minds? That was a real stupid question to think.

He pointed behind her hoping she'd understand that she'd need to back up so they could duel.

...but then a moment later, the whole room went dark, and Sierra heard nothing at all. She waited a moment, hoping the professor would realize what happened, but then she never regained her sight of sound. WHAAAAAA. *insert panic* :whaa:

Sierra spun around then, and accidentally stumbled over her own two feet. Was she even near the professor anymore?! If she'd spun completely around, which she was sure she had, she was now facing her partner, right? Right. Little did she know, but she was facing the exact direction the professor was in. "Expelliarmus!" she said, giving her wand a 'd' motion.

She did not intervene with the spell cause she wanted to see the professers reaction, and diddnt want to loose points.

Once that was taken care of, Medea had moved on towards the other students, yet with the sound of feet hitting the ground reaching her ears, a rather unsteady tone to it, she glanced over her shoulder, expecting someone had to have retrieved their wand. The sight of one actually being pointed at her was quite the shock. "Miss Grein-" Oops! Her shield was put up with ease, but that wasn't the point. "Miss Greingoth. Wrong person!"

It took a few steps, but she was right in front of the Slytherin girl, turning her around to face her partner. Her SMILING partner. Yes, it was all very funny when someone tries to disarm their Professor. "There we go."

She walked over to it carefully avoiding everyone else's spells flying through the air. She looked around as she saw upperclassmen trying to disarm the dummies blinded folded and she saw a few other underclassmen trying to mute their's. She got to the dummy and pointed her wand at it, then she was about the shout by no words came from her mouth... she forgot what the spell was! Oh no! She thought to herself as she looked around frantically for her Professor.

It wasn't hard to notice someone who didn't have a partner. What was hard about it though was momentarily putting her attention on them, and not on the rest of the class whom really needed it right now. Especially when half of them couldn't see where they were aiming. Tapping one side of the girl's head with her wand to release half the spell she'd used to make the younger years momentarily deaf, Medea raised an eyebrow. "No partner, Miss Reese?" What good a dummy would do during this activity, she didn't know.

Alyssa was first trying to figure out why Oakey was still wanting to duel with her until she realized that she had misunderstood the Professor's instructions. So after trying to figure out what Oakey was trying to mimic to her, she finally understood that they were to stick with the same partners.

She nodded her head and gave up a two thumbs sign to let him know that she understood and backed up. Raising her wand she got prepared to duel with him.

Vashti listened carefully for Amelia's reply, and when it came, she looked in that direction. So she was somewhere in that direction. She nodded to indicate she had heard her...but then realized she wouldn't be able to see that. "Okay."

The Ravenclaw carefully tried to point her wand in the direction Amelia's voice had come from, and she thought she had it right, but of course, since she couldn't see, she wasn't completely sure. She practiced the wand movement a couple times just to get the feel off it before finally speaking the incantation along with it. "Expelliarmus!"

Fudgecicle.

Despite knowing that she wouldn't be able to see in a few moments, it didn't make Kurumi any more calm about the situation. Had the professor randomly taken a sense away without telling them then, well.then she would have really been panicked to the point of her hair changing colors. Kurumi looked straight ahead, focusing on where Kennedy was standing in front of her. This was all going to go downhill the moment he moved so much as an inch though...

Now Kurumi's world was nothing but pitch black. She could hear people shouting, most likely the younger students who could no longer hear, and that made it even harder to try and figure out where Kennedy was. He hadn't moved yet, right?

Kurumi raised her wand in the direction of where Kennedy had last been standing. "Kennedy? You go ahead and cast first," she said. She could throw up a shield...hopefully. Probably would go with the wider range Shield Charm if she could manage. What had that wand movement been again?

After Professor Romanos passed by Kurumi, Kennedy kept his eyes on her. He wanted to engrave her location in his head, but he doubted that would be much help. What if she moved? Well, then...he would have to...yeah. This, though, would hopefully teach him to use all of his senses to his advantage.

Kennedy winced when everything was suddenly pitch black. He had the urge of extending his arms and swatting the air to check what was in front of him, but he kept still. "Kurumi," he answered. She still sounded like if she was in the same spot. Kennedy nodded, but then remembered that she wouldn't be able to see his gesture. "Alright," he said.

"Expelliarmus!" he said, extra loud. Yeah, he knew Kurumi didn't lose her sense of hearing, but it was so that she'll get an idea of his direction...which he probably shouldn't be doing because this was a duel. Meh.

Bending at the knees, Kurumi reached her non-wand hand out for the wall and found it surprisingly quickly, her palms tracing its uneven surface. At least now she sort of knew where she was...or something.

Wand still out and pointing at where she hoped Kennedy was, not that it really mattered because she needed worry about herself for right now, Kurumi stumbled a bit when she heard Kennedy SHOUT the spell. Had he forgotten that she had lost her sight and not her hearing. She could hear him perfectly fine. In fact, Kurumi's hearing was sort of going into overdrive right now due to her not being able to see, so he could have kept his voice neutral and it probably still would have felt booming.

Arching her wand upwards, Kurumi added a horizontal movement to her wand to increase the size of her shield. "Protego!" Hopefully it had worked, because she couldn't see if it had or not. Bracing for impact, Kurumi heard a soft zapping sound. Hey, she had never heard that before. It was sort like a small bug flying into a bug zapper. Had that been his spell hitting her shield? Kurumi was just going to pretend that it was.

Countering quickly, Kurumi decided to mimic Kennedy and shout the spell at him as well. "Expelliarmus!"

FireboltAvis88 02-12-2012 07:58 AM

As Alyssa faced Oakey, she decided to go for the Disarming Charm. Swishing her wand to form an invisible d, Alyssa said the Disarming Charm, "Expelleamoose" and aimed it at Oakey. Nothing happened. Alyssa was startled, the spell had worked for her in the past but it wasn't working now. She performed the wand movement again and aiming it at Oakey said the incantation again."Expellamoose." Again nothing happened.

Then Alyssa realized what was wrong. She thought that she was saying the spell but because she couldn't hear what she was saying, she was actually mispronuncing it and that was why the disarming spell wasn't working. She put down her wand and tried to figure out how she was going to cast the spell properly. She wasn't sure whether she was old or experienced enough to do a non-verbal spell, but she was try that if all her other attempts failed. That would be her last resort. Alyssa decided to say the spell slowly. Maybe if she pronounced each syllable carefully, she might actually cast the spell.

So she faced Oakey again and performed the wand movements forming an invisible d in the air and aiming her wand at Oakey, said the words of the spell slowly. "EX-PEL-LI-AR-MUS." Sure enough a beam shot out of her wand and headed for Oakey. She suspected that he would see the spell coming since she had said it slow enough that he could probably read her lips if he wanted to.

Had he really missed? Mweh. He shrugged to himself. Sometimes he lost his concentration just like that. Maybe, if he hadn't been so occupied with cautioning her first that he was shooting, he could have hit her while she was watching the commotion. Oh well. At least no one could say he hit her from her back or anything, like she probably expected.

And now it was her tu--she hit him! Not physically, but she didn't even say she was going to cast the spell. The Brazilian tried to hold the wand, of course, but it was of no use and it was gone away in that room somewhere. Nevertheless, he nodded at her for her good work. He wasn't going to smile or anything, of course, because he wasn't pleased that she had lost his wand, but at least he acknowledged it. "I'd, er, better look for my wand." Yeah. There seemed like hundrends of people were in the room suddenly. And he hadn't even watched where it went.

...with all these wands flying around, it was impossible to find his. He had to run from getting hit, of course, or be prepared for people falling over. Then there was the threat of getting hit by a spell of those little brats who obviously thought magic was casting fires. The professor announced it was time to practise Protego, and his wand was still lost. Maybe he should just take that Stella girl's wand, since SHE lost it. Stupid Ravenclaws for being good at magic.

After a few more minutes' search, he finally found it somewhere near the windows. He sighed in relief that it was still one piece and made his way towards Stella, just in time for that... blindfolded game or something of that sort. Such fun.

"So, yeah, we couldn't really practise Protego." He paused, looking around thoughtfully. "But I guess you're good at it too," at least, HE certainly was, "so are we being blindfolded now?" He'd rather pass, thank you. He wasn't going to be bloody blind in a duel, at most, he would just lose his wand and be killed.

Everyone around herself and João had moved on to practicing the Shield Charm, but Stella was left surprised that the Slytherin had actually let himself be hit by her Disarming Charm from earlier. It was a good thing that she'd been fairly certain of her ability with both spells, although she silently practiced the wand movement that Professor Romanos had suggested they use for the second charm anyhow. At least it gave her something to do while he was searching for his wand. Honestly, even amongst the chaos in the room, she didn't understand why it was taking so long. Plus, she sensed a bit of irritation coming from him as well. There went any points she'd gotten earlier for being nice, but then, if he was going to get so irritated by letting his own wand fly away from him, she could deal with that. It just meant he was more of a stereotypical Slytherin.

As the lesson moved on, however, her attention went back to the professor. So now they were going to have to duel blindfolded. Interesting, she thought, stepping over to one side again to create more space between herself and the people standing nearest to her. She glanced at João again as he'd returned and spoken, nodding slightly at the act. He could act like it hadn't mattered, but she could see through that by now. At least, she could whiel she was waiting for the professor to get over to them to obscure their vision. "I'm not bad at it," she said with a shrug, " and it certainly does seem that way." She was fine with being blindfolded if she had to. "Vous pouvez toujours revenir en arrière, vous savez." Yes, now she was close to taunting him, but his demeanor deserved it. Besides, shortly afterward she'd ended up blindfolded, so she just had to wait to hear his reaction, keeping her wand at the ready just in case.

Perhaps he should start, he nodded to her and stomped to bring her attention to his feet then flicked his wand hand to begin the incantation, his thought was however cut off by Professor Romanos. He didn't take his eyes from her but it seemed already their little practicing session was over and all the older students would be the main focus.

He bowed to her and walked away finding spot where he could watch the action without being in the way, he was small though so he knew he would be blocked eventually so he shuffled through them. No one would take notice of him there but hopefully no one pushed because he'd just fall

Tayla looked around and realized Jacques wasn't with her anymore. Maybe she had backed off to much. But after a moment, she found him lurking in one spot. "Jacques, we're still partners aren't we?" she asked kindly. "I'm sorry we weren't able to practice yet, but Professor Romanos will be taking our sense of hearing soon. Then we can start." That made the duel a little more complicated though.

SPOILER!!: Professor Romanos

A moment later, Tayla felt the professor tap each side of her head and felt a strange sensation when she started to no longer hear anything. "Odd..." she thought. She wasn't sure she could talk, but decided to try. "Expelliarmus," she said in her head, moving her mouth the way she thought it should. She wasn't sure if she was saying it aloud correctly, but decided what she was thinking was more important right now.

She motioned to Jacques that they begin. Making sure Jacques understood or at least saw her, she took her stance and pointed her wand to Jacques' wand hand. "Expelliarmus!"

She went to try it again but heard the Professor address them.

She saw a red light appeared from Zhenya's wand. Quickly she casted the shield charm

"Protego!" She waved her hand. A transparent-blue light appeared from her wand, repulsed Zhenya's disarming charm.

"Wow..." she could do the shield charm very good. "Okay, now it's your turn!"

What did the Professor say? She couldn't hear her voice. OHMYGOD!!

She was DEAF!! She couldn't hear anything!

Okay, Raven. Just relax.. relax... Use your sight.. She was ready with her duel position and she casted the disarming charm.

"EXPELLIARMUS!"

Laura looked at Jen and decided to ask her something. "Vho is Voing first?" Laura then realised what she was doing, the Professor's accent was cool and Laura liked it but maybe Jen wouldn't understand it. "I meant to say who is going first?" Because Laura seriously didn't want to try this, then she remember Jen probably couldn't hear her this was going to be cool, how was they going to do this?

Umm..So did they still work with their partner? Because Messer saw everyone still working with their partner. And the Professor said first years through fourth lose their hearing. How he's suppose to send a message to Ella that they still working together? "Are you ready?" Even though Messer know that Ella can't hear him but he asked it anyway.

He pointed his wand toward his partner and did the d movement "Expelliarmus!" he didn't realized that he said the incantation a little too loud.

''Nah.. I'm kinda dramatic some times,'' KINDA? HA!!!! She giggled

''Yeah, she said to start the shield charm now,''

Daisy nodded, not saying much as it would be no use; the charm to stop her hearing had also been used on LuLu, which would make using the spells a little more interesting. She gestured to herself and then to her wand, hoping LuLu would get the hint she would use the disarming spell, but her partner could use a shield charm if she liked. It was up to her; that was what the lesson was all about, after all.
She raised her wand at LuLu, that would be the hint, if anything.
'Expelliarmus!' she said, not knowing how loud she had said it, as she moved her wand in the 'D' shape and waited to see how her 'opponent' would react, with a disadvantage of no hearing.

"Good one!" She said smiling and going to get her wand. "Should we keep practicing or what?" She looked around to see if they were supposed to be casting the same spell over and over again. It seemed some of her classmates were doing that several times. Right, then.

"Alright, Cardigan, get ready!" She finally said, pointing her wand at the Slytherin once more. She waited for her friend to be aware that she would be disarming her again. "Expelliarmus!" She cast, with the same 'd' shaped motion.

"Proteego!"Cardigan said, doing the 'd' shaped movement. She either said it wrong or she did the wrong movement because the shield charm didn't work and she was quickly knocked back, her wand flying back a few less inches than before. She must've said it wrong."Exspelliarmus!"She said, making the same 'd' shape motion with her wand.Wow.Magic just wasn't the same without hearing...

With his deafened ears Oakey could only assume that with each flick of Alyssa's wand a spell would be shot out. Protego he said casting the spell to avoid her first shot at him...His shield formed in front of him but it deflected nothing. He looked at Alyssa who was trying to cast a spell at him multiple times but nothing happened. He pointed his wand at her to cast the disarming charm at her. Expell...

Before he could finish casting his spell Alyssa had finally managed to cast hers and it shot at Oakey hitting him and knocking his wand right out of his hand.

Well, this was disorienting. He wasn't surprised that Romanos would do something like this, though. And it would be a good exercise. If he ever had to duel someone at night, he would hopefully be a bit more prepared than his opponent.

Um, I wonder who should go first. He cleared his throat. "Arya? I'm going to go ahead and start now, so don't be alarmed if something goes flying past your head suddenly." Because he aim probably wouldn't be any good. Hopefully she would reply, and that would help him figure out where she was again.

He raised his wand. I could do a nonverbal again, but that wouldn't be very nice on the first try. Better that she knew it was coming. He moved his wand in a fluid motion, wondering what it looked like. He hoped the 'd' movement was in muscle memory enough to function properly. "Expelliarmus," he said, feeling the spell shoot from his wand. But will it go anywhere near her? That is the question.

Amelia really didn't want to lose her wand when she didn't have the ability to see, so she was going to try this extra hard. She tried to make out the sound of Vashti's voice - which was hard from all the yelling - so that she would have some idea when the spell would be coming for her. At least coming for her if Vashti was facing the right person. :/

She did the waving wand movement now while saying "Protego!" so when the disarming hell hit her she still had her wand in her hand. A very good thing, because she really hadn't wanted to drop hers. "Okay, my turn to try to disarm you," she called out to Vashti now.

Once the professor had come around and made Lily temporarily deaf, Lily tested it out. "Woah..." Lily said not hearing anything. This is really neat... I can't hear anything. Lily turned towards the professor waiting to be told to go. She could see the professor's mouth moving but couldn't hear anything. Then she saw the thumbs up. That must mean go Lily thought as she turned back towards Violet. Giving her a thumbs up, Lily hoped to get her attention. She then pointed at Violet and then gave her the 1 signal with her pointer finger, trying to tell Violet to go first.

Hey Ju 02-12-2012 08:41 PM

It felt really weird not being able to hear a thing. It was like Sophie's ears were clogged or something, and she caught herself shaking her head and swallowing a couple of times, trying to unclog it. She started making some random sounds to see if she could actually say something audibly. She kept doing that until she could feel some vibration on her throat.

Oh. Thank Goodness she was fine with that shield spell. He had got it when he was what, thirteen, and he would have certainly backed out if she said she wasn't good at it. He nodded at her to show he had heard her over the commotion of the room. Oh, so she was fine with being blindfolded. And she certainly spoke French. Surprised by that at first, he flickered his eyes at her and chuckled lightly, in a sincerely friendly and amused way.

"Eu não vou desistir agora." He grinned. If she could speak in her own language, so could he. And if she, a girl plus a Ravenclaw, accepted the challenge, so would he.

Letting the professor blindfold him with that challenging smile on his face, he marked where she was located before he lost his vision and readied his wand. He would let her take the first shot as he whispered a "Protego!" to himself.

Just because she was a girl, not because he was pretty terrified that he couldn't see.

Cardigan hoped that the spell would work this time!Protego, protego, protego, protego, protego, she thought to herself a few times before saying it out loud."Protego!"She said while making the upward motion with her wand.Sucess!!!She had sucessfully used Protego!!The Blue Shield protected her aganst Sophie`s Exspelliarmus as she prepared to cast it herself. After saying it a few times to herself, she finally said,"Exspelliarmus!"As she made the d movement with her wand.Hopefully that worked...

Alyssa was surprised that she had managed to disarm Oakey despite the fact that she hadn't been able to hear what she was saying. She waited for Oakey to retrieve his wand to allow him to prepare to cast a spell at her this time.

Alex felt a tap on the side of her head and suddenly she couldn't hear anything. "Oh this is weird", she thought to herself. She practiced saying Expelliarmus a couple of times. It was tricky because without being able to hear, Alex couldn't judge the accuracy of her words.

Looking at Silvia, she pointed to herself and raised one finger. She hoped that Silvia would get the message that she was going to start first. Alex raised her wand to signal her readiness. "Expelliarmus", she said trying to articulate as clearly as possible.

Sophie watched as a blue shield appeared in front of Cardigan. Nice! She smiled at the Slytherin, but didn't bother saying anything, obviously. She kept looking at the girl, not sure if her friend would cast the spell. She was taking a little while, so she might have given up or something...

When Sophie was almost sure she wouldn't have to block anything else, she saw Cardigan moving her wand and a beam of light coming in her direction. Luckly the girl was a little far from her, so she had enough time to cast "Protego!" louder than necessary, with the upward movement. Phew!

Before casting the disarming spell at her friend again, she decided to improve her shield, just for fun, as she knew it would fade once she cast the other spell. With an horizontal swish, Sophie watched as her shield's size almost doubled. Her smiled widened before she stared directly to Cardigan. "Expelliarmus!" Once again, she used a sharp 'd' shaped movement!

He wondered if Kurumi knew where he was by his voice. Although, due to all the shouting that was currently happening he doubted she'd get an idea of where he was. He still hadn't moved, but he didn't want to stay like a sitting duck either.

Kennedy quickly snapped back to the present when he heard the lion Prefect's voice with her counter spell. He directed his was exactly in front of him and said, "Protego!" He felt a bit of pressure on his hand when the spell hit. It was probably a close one and the disarming charm was barely blocked. He would definitely have to try the wider shield next.

The prefect grinned when he heard his dueling partner shout. She seemed to get the idea behind it... maybe, or she was just shouting to get her voice heard through all the noise. Flicking his wand again he said, "Expelliarmus!" This time though he had raised his wand arm a bit too high.

Because Laura seriously didn't want to try this, then she remember Jen probably couldn't hear her this was going to be cool, how was they going to do this?

Jen saw Laura mouth something. She couldn't make out what it was but asumed she was asking "who goes first". Jen got a piece of parchment from a table and a quil. She wrote this down.
"I'll go first, stand back. I'll use pretego for a shielding charm and you use exeliarmis to disarm me"
Jen pointed her want at Laura and made an upward flick.
"Pretayno!" jen hopefully said the right spell.
Just then green spots started apearing on Laura's face.

Uh oh....

Kurumi waited, hearing Kennedy cast his Shield Charm and no shouting or noises that really sounded like a wand hitting the ground. Then again, it was hard to make ANYTHING out with all the shouting going on. Could she cast a Silencing Spell on everyone else? You know, make things easier? Her ears were ringing at the moment and it was getting harder and harder to focus.

Then, she heard Kennedy cast his counter spell....at least...she thought she did. "Protego!" Kurumi's shield went up, but she didn't wait to hear the bug zapping noise from before and instead instantly began to cast her counter spell. "Expelliarmus!" However, in the rush to cast, Kurumi dropped her wand and it fell to the floor, landing on one of the mats, and not making a single sound - which made it almost impossible for the Gryffindor to know its location. WHAT?!

Kurumi got down on all four and began to crawl around on the floor, looking for her wand, and having no luck. As she crawled, she was getting further and further away from the location of her actual wand and closer and closer to Kennedy when...

*SMACK*

Her forehead collided with his knees.

Kennedy stood there, with his wand arm at the ready and heard Kurumi cast the shield spell. He prepared himself for the disarming charm, grasping his wand tighter. He was going to attempt to make his shield wider and hopefully not fail. Imagine loosing your wand while being blind. Yeah...not pretty.

When he heard her cast he quickly produced the shield charm, "Protego!" Then increased its size by doing a horizontal movement Professor Romanos had told them about. This time he didn't feel any pressure on his shield. Either, he was getting real good at this or...maybe Kurumi missed.

Oblivious to the fact that Kurumi had lost her wand, he did a sharp d movement in the air and began saying, "Expelli-" then BAM! Something hit his knees, and not having expected that he fell backward, landing on his bum.

Were people running over others now?

"Ouch."

Vashti stood silently, not moving while she waited for Amelia's voice casting the Shield Charm, which she assumed she would do regardless of whether Vashti's spell was aimed correctly since neither of them could see to be sure. It was a bit distracting with all the other students' voices in the background, but finally she thought she could make out Amelia's voice in the crowd. And she was letting her know that she was going to cast the Disarming Spell now.

Vashti took a deep breath before calling, "Okay, I...think I'm ready." At least, she hoped so. She gripped her wand tightly, as if that might prepare her more.

Although, that really wouldn't surprise her considering that this WAS Hogwarts and anything was possible. However, the ouch that came from whatever it was she had hit was more certainly Kennedy.

FUDGECICLE! She had been crawling in the opposite direction. Now blind and at least ten feet away from her own wand, Kurumi felt utterly ridiculous. What was next? Were her and Kennedy going to blow up the Dueling Arena? That seemed entirely possible the way things were going.

"K-Kennedy?" she squeaked, fumbling around with her hands and *smack* oh...oh...that was definately a face just now. "S-S-S-Sorry..." "Kennedy...it's Kurumi...I...um...I dropped my wand..." she stammered. Could he Accio it towards him? That might work... Worse case would be that it would smack into one of them, poke an eye out, and then drop to the floor. BUT, the sound of it dropping to the floor would tell her where it was and then she would have her wand back! Perfect!

"Do you...um...do you mind casting Accio on my wand?"

Or...he could crawl around on the floor pawing at everything with her.

Being overly observant wasnt one of Olivias most valuable traits, so she had to pay extra attension to everything going on in the moment and not daydream! Olivia was ready this time, it was all planned out. Olivia turned her partner arround so she would cast expelliarmus right at her face, that way Olivias protego charm wouldnt have to last as long. Protego! she blocked the spell. Now Olivia had two options, step back or push her partner forward. What would be the most Slytherin thing to do, push! She pushed her partner forward ,but not that hard.Expelliarmus! said Olivia.

Amelia was curious as to whether or not Vashti was successful in her shield charm or nor. She knew how hard it was to do this task, and she had been lucky not have lost her wand. She waited to hear if her partner wanted to do it again for more practice, but she didn't hear anything. She was puzzled now. "Did you manage to do it?" she asked curiously.

"Do you...um...do you mind casting Accio on my wand?"

Or...he could crawl around on the floor pawing at everything with her.

Kennedy propped himself on his elbows when he heard Kurumi's voice, which sounded too close for a strange reason, and then...

*SMACK*

The boy was back on his back. What'd he do to get smacked? He was just an innocent bystander that just got run over. He rubbed his cheek and propped himself on one elbow. It was Kurumi that smacked him? BUT WHY? He thought they were friends.

"I...know who you are," he said, scooting backward just in case. Kennedy was good at remembering people's voices. His eyebrows rose at her statement. "You lost it?" Now, that's what he had been fearing would happen to him.

The prefect got on all fours, his wand still tightly grasped. "Okay," he said, gulping. "But...um, I've only tried it twice." The first time the object had gone the wrong way, and the second time it... kind of summoned the item to him at a really fast speed.

Kennedy raised his arm and pointed straight ahead. That's where Kurumi had come from, right? Well, they'd find out. "Accio Kurumi's wand!"

He's not responsible for any injuries or loss of eyes.

Vashti went down on her hands and knees immediately when she managed to hear a small thunk! She searched blindly yet carefully around her, searching for her wand. As she did, she heard Amelia ask whether she'd managed to cast the Shield Charm properly. "No, I...think I lost my wand," she said. Then, suddenly, her hand touched a stick-like object...

"Aha!" Her wand! Thank Merlin.

Vashti stood carefully. Now...which direction was Amelia again? "I've got my wand now. You ready?"

Oakey grabbed his wand in disappointment that he was disarmed. If he wasn't currently deaf he would have heard Alyssa's spell coming. Taking it in his right hand this time he pointed it at his partner. Expelliarmus!

The stream of light zipped past Alyssa completely missing her and hit one of the dummies she was standing in front of. Really! Oakey thought rather aggravated that he missed his target completely. I'm not even Blind folded! EXPELLIARMUS! He shouted this one now. He wasn't happy with his last one and didn't care if everyone in the room (who wasn't deaf) could hear him. This stream of light came directly at Alyssa.

Alyssa ducked when she saw Oakey's first spell zip by her. Now that was close. Before she knew it he had sent another spell at her. She quickly perfomed the shield charm swishing her wand in an arcing flick followed quickly by a horizonal arch and said the words to the spell...or at least what she hoped were to words to the spell since she couldn't hear herself say it. "Proteeeguh". Nothing streamed out from her wand. 'Blast it' she thought to herself as she felt Oakey's disarming charm hit her wand hand.

Her wand went flying and Alyssa followed closely after it....not looking where she was going until she bounced off....Oakey...and fell backwards to the floor right next to where her wand had landed. She started to giggle. Now this was really awkward.

"Finite."

Okay, she thought while rubbing her face, I think it's okay already. She saw Glenn, and replied, "Yeah, I think so. Was there something wrong with my face? You kind of freaked out a little...."

She fixed the position of her foot, put her wand at the ready and shouted "Expelliarmus!"

"Uh - stripes, rainbow stripes. They were all over your face." Glenn smiled apologetically at Janice. She had mispronounced "Expelliarmus" she realised.

Janice hit her with her disarming charm before Glenn could remember the incantation for the Shield charm. Proteega or something. Wait, no. Protego, that's it!

Bam!

Glenn fell on her butt two metres from where she had been standing before. She moved gingerly and pulled herself upright, locating her wand near another groups feet. Glenn jumped almost manically towards it, picking it up and replacing it safely in her pocket before it could get broken.

The professor came around and tapped her wand on Glenn's head, almost immediately, all the sound in the room was cut out. She probably gasped loudly as it happened but she couldn't hear her own voice.

Was Kennedy...annoyed? He certainly sounded like it. Was it because she had smacked him twice? She hadn't meant to...she was currently blind as a bat. Not that bats were actually blind. It was quite the opposite really. Their eyes, while small and sometimes poorly developed, are also completely functional, not to mention the fact that they have excellent hearing and sense of smell. Perhaps the saying should be changed to "Keen as a Bat"? Yep, Kurumi was going to try and use that one more often she decided.

She nodded, not that he could see, and then sort of pushed herself off the ground. She then tried to use her keen cat-like senses to somehow HEAR her wand zooming through the air towards her, but had no such luck and heard nothing at all.

"OUCH!" she squeaked as she felt something jab her in the sides and then heard the soft clanging as something fell to the floor. HER WAND! It was near by... Back on all fours again, Kurumi searched around until she found her wand and jumped back to her feet. "I got it!" she chirped, turning to face the direction she THOUGHT Kennedy was, but she was really facing an entirely different one (in the direction of a CERTAIN Slytherin girl)

Now, where were here and Kennedy? "Was it your turn to cast the Disarming Spell?" she shouted over the other students in the arena.

It seemed they would still be working together afterall. When the professor came around to tap his ear he almost laughed, that was funny since he was already deaf and nothing she could do would undo that. Holding his hand up to stop her he turned his hearing aid off and turned to Tayla and nodded to her. Too bad she couldn't sign because that would help them out perfectly. His speech was already a bit off and he had had years of practicing without hearing himself so it was probably unfair. Giving her a thumbs up -everyone understood that- he prepared himself. She would go first, he saw from her stance, she was in attack mode but knowing how to read body language he'd let her disarm him seeing that it might have been a shock if he magically could defend without hearing.

With his wand on the floor he gave a nod then went to get it. With it in his hand he gave her a nod and raised his brows before getting in position. With his left hand extended he used the right to sign ok to her, his index and thumb making an "O" while the other three fingers stuck up in the air. He wouldnt fire until she gave the go ahead and when she did he waved his right hand hoping to catch her attention then flicked the left saying "Expelliarmus!"

What did the Professor say? She couldn't hear her voice. OHMYGOD!!

She was DEAF!! She couldn't hear anything!

Okay, Raven. Just relax.. relax... Use your sight.. She was ready with her duel position and she casted the disarming charm.

"EXPELLIARMUS!"

Zhenya accidentally did the wrong spell... "Expelliarmus!" she called at the same time as Raven. She felt like a big gust of wind was pushing her and she fell backwards onto her backside.

She looked around, confused at what had just happened.

"Raven, what happened?" she said, but she couldn't hear herself. Oh NO! She shrugged up at Raven, with a sheepish look on her face. She was silly!

She stood up again and rolled her shoulders out.

It honestly was hard adjusting right after Professor Romanos had obscured her vision, but Stella was finding that the more she focused, she coudl keep herself from panicking. Oddly enough, closing her eyes helped as well, even if it didn't particularly matter at the moment. All it did was trick her into thinking the darkness was her own choice. She heard the chuckle, too, and used it to turn her head toward João's voice, even as he'd spoken in another language. Of course, she thought. In a way she'd asked for that, but it didn't matter. She could decipher his intent, at least, even though she had no clue what he'd said.

And it seemed like he wasn't going to back down, which meant she needed to be on her guard. Continuing to focus, listening for his voice amongst all the others casting around them, she tilted her head to one side as nothing happened. She didn't hear him cast anything, which made her curious. Especially as he hadn't said anything. Beyond the earlier unknown comment, which had presumably not been anything giving her permission to start. She knew the professor had, however, so after another moment, she flicked her wand up in the d-shaped movement from earlier. "Expelliarmus!," she cast, hoping that she at least was still aiming at her partner. She hadn't turned from when she'd located him earlier, but the fact he was quiet was more startling than anything else.

Then again in his nervousness he may have been pointing a little far from Gideon's wand. Ooops.

SPOILER!!: Professah u know he's deaf right?!? rotlf!

Gideon was prepared for the upcoming spell and while he had debated just letting it happen or not to make things fair, he reacted in defense of himself. "Protego!" he cast, his shield raising just as the spell went to hit it having him give an inward sigh of relief. Especially when it seemed Vickers' nerves had gotten the better of him and the disarming spell hit off kilter.

That was close...he hadn't really wanted to be magically shoved.

"That was good," he commented, letting Vicker's know it wasn't a big deal in case he reacted and picked up on his own mistake. Turning his attention back to the Professor as she spoke, the 5th year shifted as directed almost without thinking. His thoughts not quite processing her detail about their senses being effected until a few moments after it probably should have.

Blind-folded...Taking away their sense of sight.

Gideon wasn't too sure he was keen on that idea, swallowing at the prospect yet not backing out for want of pushing past it. It would be fine, he told himself. Just a little bit of a challenge and he took a deep breath before he moved the last bit to allow them more space as suggested by the professor, thinking his partner was following.

However as he was moving, the spell took hold and he actually froze in the process. The feeling was familiar...way too familiar and he couldn't bring himself to raise his wand hand or even speak at first as thoughts raced through his mind. Not in the least of which was of himself going to cast and hurting someone, either his partner or another student, because his spell went wonky. "I'm... here," he finally answered back as the Ravenclaw called his name, his eyes wanting to look in Vicker's direction even without the ability to see him.

Maybe he should have opted out after all.

Panic. Sheer panic.

Vickers was this close to ripping off the blindfold, the thought screaming in his head that it wasnt fair to him-- that he effectively lost two senses, without his sight, he had better chances of smelling a spell than hearing its incantation. And truthfully he has no idea what any spell would smell like as its flying through the air.

Amidst the disarming and shield spells being yelled around he thought he heard something else..... was that Gideon? Or was that just his imagination? Shakily he held his wand out, trying to aim it at the sound of where he thought it came from. "Gideon.... are you there?" he squeaked out, facing, not Gideon, but the dummies with the wall behind them.

Then another thought entered his head which really couldnt have come at a worse time-- what if some errant spell from other students come hurtling towards them-- towards him? He cant see it, and if he could ever hear it coming which he cant it would be too late.

He had an extraordinary desire to back up against the wall and throw a shield spell up until the Professor says class dismissed.

Thing is he has absolutely no clue where the wall is, or any notion that it was directly in front of him.

So many people yelling protego.... was that Gideon? In the cacophony of voices and his poor hearing it was near impossible for Vickers to discernibly pick Gideon's voice out from the crowd. Assuming mistakenly that the Gryffindor has taken up the defensive position first Vickers stuttered out "O-Okay.... s-s-so I go and do the disarming spell again right?

Pause.... did Gideon respond? Perhaps the better question would be, would Vickers have heard it?

"O-Okay... here goes...." pause again. Oi today would've been a good day to bring along his hearing-aid....

With the wand stroke he cast "Expelliarmus"

And the spell flew out of his wand.... which may or may not have rebounded against the dummies. Eep!

One second, Professor Romanos was holding over her wand above her head and the next second, there was complete silence.

O____O She was deaf! OMGSHECOULDNOTHEARATHING!

Beezus swallowed as she looked around. She started shaking so bad that she thought she was going to fall on the floor. Why was she so scared? Merlin, she was indeed scared. She was shivering and her hands were sweating cold. She had never felt so helpless like this before. Well..the last time she felt like that was on the day her sister died in fact.

She blinked and stared at her feet. No, she just can't do it. She just can't walk around without hearing anything. It scared the hell out of her and made her very uncomfortable. Beezus felt like everything was closing in on her and suddenly, it became hard to breathe.

"P-p-professor," she stuttered as her eyes searched for Professor Romanos. But she couldn't find her. "PROFESSOR!" Beezus bit her lower lip and tried to suppress tears. WHY WAS SHE CRYING?! "Professor..Professor.." she continued biting her lip and she held her hands forcibly together.

Since she was deafened, Sierra never heard her partner say a thing. Nor did she hear the professor's warning to her about having cast on the wrong person. Then she felt someone turn her around--her partner! Her partner was turning her the wrong way, so she could try and get her good! Sierra wouldn't take that, though! She spun right back around to face her partner (really Romanos) and cast again. "Expelliarmus!"

...

For the love of all things shiny!

Jumping a little as the Slytherin girl suddenly spun back around to face her, wand pointed at her and all, she was a bit taken aback to really...do anything but...DUCK AND COVER!

Flailing to the side, she reached over and pulled down the blindfold from Sierra's face. "Wrong...person...Miss Greingoth. Didn't you hear?" Didn't she???

Glancing past Sierra towards Olivia, she stood up a little more straight after that small-ish attack was over. Hmmm? Halfway to opening her mouth, she snapped it shut. Right. This one sounded a bit more urgent though. "HERE!" she said, spinning around and holding up her hand. Wait. Who was the one calling for her? A blindfolded student or one who wouldn't be able to hear her?

Finally though, she did spot someone who looked just a bit more upset than she'd expected. Oh Merlin. Yet on her way over to the girl, she'd passed two students practically on the floor, one who had a squeak in their voice, and a buuuunch of people who were having a hard time pronouncing the spells. Okaaay...

With a glance at her watch as she stopped next to the girl, Medea ran sighed and tapped the girl on both sides of her head near her ears to counter the deafening spell. "Are you alright, Miss Castell?" She wasn't hurt was she?

Looking out across the chaotic room, she was actually rather pleased with the results. A few mishaps, but all in all, they all did get a taste of what it was like not having one of their senses. Which was the point of it all. They practically failed altogether, but still, Medea was pleased. Especially in the conditions they were in. "ALRIGHT! Every...one..." Wait. Half the class couldn't hear a word she was saying.

Shaking her head to herself, she hopped up onto the dueling platform and made a sweep of her wand over the class. The blindfolds on the older students were vanished, and the spells effecting the younger students hearing was countered instantly. "Alright! Everyone. Stop! Hold your spells!" Stop stop stop.

No, she was not alright! She wanted to burst out crying! Hearing nothing but silence was just too loud for her and she did not like that. When Professor Romanos tapped her head, she knew she'd be able to hear again. And when she did. "I'm sorry Professor!" all she could do was hug their DADA teacher. "I just can't do it," Well..forgive her for being such a scaredy cat please?

And with the next move that the Professor did, she felt so relieved. All blindfolds and deafening silence was gone now. Beezus sighed deeply. Now that it was over, she was not shaking too much anymore. Oh, thank you Merlin for that.

There was a strong itching to remove the spell that had her temporarily blind. Why couldn't she just have been silenced? That was so much easier to work with, but not challenging enough she supposed. "I will be alarmed, but I won't panic." Really she should ALWAYS be alarmed if something she can't see goes flying past her head, not that she didn't trust the captain, just that they weren't the only ones blindfolded, so who's to say she won't get hit with someone else's spell?

His voice wasn't too far from her, and she figured that they'd were no longer standing directly in front of each other, especially since after he cast, she felt nothing, not even a breeze. How far away were they?

Oh.

She could see again.

The prefect blinked at the suddenness that her blindfold was removed and looked over at the professor.

"Expelliarmus!," she cast, hoping that she at least was still aiming at her partner. She hadn't turned from when she'd located him earlier, but the fact he was quiet was more startling than anything else.

While waiting for her to make the first move, it felt like eternity in that blind-folded, obscure, appalling state before she finally decided to shoot. João tried to keep calm and not turn frantically. If he turned, he would certainly bump into someone. But this blindness just made him want to turn in circles as if it was the only solution to get rid of it. He hated not seeing something, and he certainly was deadly afraid of the dark. Dark was cruel, unknown, and he felt so vulnerable. He didn't care if Professor Romanos was there to make sure nothing happens to them or not; he didn't care they were only in a class and not out in the wilderness. He just wanted this horrendous veil or whatever it was to be removed so that he could run away.

As this battle inside him went on, he heard her voice, that stupid girl's who was responsible for him being blind, finally say the spell. He didn't forget altogether about his fear, of course, if anything it grew bigger because if it hit him, he would be wandless and would lose his last hope of getting rid of this blackness. Before he could make any move, the spell had already hit him. He let out a small squeak and didn't breathe for a moment--until he noticed his wand was still in his hand. Sure, something did hit him, he felt it--or had it been psychological?--but it had hit and probably shattered his shield charm. He took a relieved breath, just before he let out his double-effective "Expelliarmus!" towards where he thought he had heard the voice. He just hoped she would lose her wand this time and suffer in a way to at least feel how he felt way too vulnerable in that blackness.

Stupid Ravenclaws. Little rats crazy for points. He should have known better to trust one of them so blindly.

The only thing Sierra could think to do is start casting and hope she at least disarmed whoever had pushed her. The nerve of some people! If it was a PUFFER, or even Hollingberry, she was going STRAIGHT TO TATE. "Expelliarmus!" she called out, giving her wand a little 'd' motion.

Then in the next instant, she felt someone's hands on her face. She started to cast again, but then the hand brought down her blindfold. Now the moment of truth was upon her--who had pushed her?! WHO?! Was it a Puffer? Hollingberry? It was...

...THE PROFESSOR?!

The professor had been the one to push her?! Sierra gasped in mild shock. Sierra shook her head the same way people do when they can't hear a word someone else is saying. What?! What?! Her gestures seemed to say. Then in the next instant, all the sound in the room came back, and Sierra was met with the voice of the professor, loudly telling everyone to stop.

Hmph. First she pushed her students, and then she yelled at them...

Sophie was almost getting used to not try to unclog her ears. She was so concentrated looking at Cardigan, waiting for the SLytherin to cast a spell on her again that she jumped once she was able to hear again. Everything sounded waaaaaay louder than she was expecting now.

With wide eyes, she turned her head in the direction of Professor Romanos' voice.

Looking at Silvia, she pointed to herself and raised one finger. She hoped that Silvia would get the message that she was going to start first. Alex raised her wand to signal her readiness. "Expelliarmus", she said trying to articulate as clearly as possible.

Silvia nodded when Alex indicated that she wanted to go first, and prepared herself. It was weird not being able to hear anything. Silvia was used to spending time in quiet environments, but never this quiet. She watched as her friend waved her wand and her mouth moved as she said the incantation, though Silvia couldn't hear it. Raising her wand, she said "Protego," though she couldn't hear herself either. Unfortunately, her lack of hearing seemed to have slowed her reaction time, and she was a few seconds too late in casting the shield charm to block the spell completely, although the shield did seem to weaken the spell somewhat. Her wand jerked slightly from her hand, and Silvia quickly tried to grab it as it slipped from her hand, catching it in the tips of her fingers just before it fell to the ground.

Once she had resituated herself, Silvia nodded to Alex to indicate a good try, then prepared to cast the disarming spell herself. Waving her wand and pointing it at Alex, she said "Expelliarmus," feeling as though she were casting the spell nonverbally, even though she technically wasn't.

Minerva grinned oh he wanted her to bring it she would, but then she saw his wand move and she was about to shield the spell when she heard the professor. WAIT she heard the professor, she could hear again. She dodged left and avoided his spell. "I don't need magic to avoid your spells." she giggled over at him. Then she turned to listen to the professors next instructions.

CJP 02-13-2012 06:02 PM

Olivia doged Sierra's flailing spells like dodge balls. One of them was aimed right at her! Protego! she squeeked, and this time she did the little "X" incase any more spells came flying at her!

He pointed his wand toward his partner and did the d movement "Expelliarmus!" he didn't realized that he said the incantation a little too loud.

Ella watched Messer's lips moving and squinted, trying to read what he was saying. Oh gosh, this is going to be tough, she thought. She noted that he was doing the d movement and raised her own wand quickly, "Protego!" she said aloud. It was strange, how focused she was on the jet of light coming towards her. She silently willed the shield to form from her own wand and suddenly, one did! She smiled at Messer, giving him the thumbs up. Then she mouthed very slowly, "Are...you...ready?" She raised her own wand and pointed it at him, making the d motion. "Expelliarmus!"

"Aha!" Her wand! Thank Merlin.

Vashti stood carefully. Now...which direction was Amelia again? "I've got my wand now. You ready?"

Amelia really wished that she could see what was going on right now, because it was almost impossible for her to have any idea of what was going on around her right now. When she heard Vashti say that she lost her wand she was on the verge of offering to help locate it when the girl called out that she had recovered it.

"I'm ready again!" she called out now as she raised her wand again and pointed it in what she hoped to be Vashti's direction. "Expel--"

They had been interrupted by the Professor who seemed rather adamant, and now her blindfold was gone. Blinking in order to get used to the light, she lowered her wand again.

Not being able to see was definitely a challenge for Stella, but as long as nobody accidentally hit her with a stray spell she was managing to keep calm. Of course, she still couldn't hear anything to tell if her spell had hit João, not amongst the chaos of other spells being yelled, some of which definitely not sounding anything like they were supposed to. At least she hadn't heard any explosions, which meant nothing had gone drastically wrong. Professor Romanos was still there, after all, so they should be safe. Should being the operative word. It was DADA, after all. She still wanted to know if her spell had hit or not, though. And, at a quiet squeak amongst the yells, she smiled slightly. That had sounded like her partner. As did the extrememly loud casting of the Disarming spell, and the smile faded as she panicked. "Protego!," she quickly cast, adding that little horizontal movement and silently hoping it would block the spell. Being blinded wasn't fun anymore.

She squeaked slightly in surprise as suddenly her prayer was answered and the blindfold disappeared, however. Eyes wideneing as she could now see the Disarming charm and how close it was to hitting her pale blue shield. She turned to the Professor as she'd called an end to it all, ducking as it caused her shield to drop a little and the Disarming charm rushed past her head. That was scary, and she sent a wide-eyed look toward the Slytherin before going back to the professor up on the platform. People definitely weren't being polite anymore, and she was glad that she could see again. Something told her she hadn't made another friend, this class. There wasn't really anything she could do about it. As far as she knew she wasn't going to get hit with another spell while the professor was talking. Hopefully.

Glancing towards Laura and her partner, her eyes widened a bit at the sight of the spots. Uh huuuuh. Yet before she could lift the spell from the Hufflepuff girl so she could hear her speak, Medea heard yet another person calling for help.

Just a few minutes later while the two of them were laughing on the floor one on top of the other. He began to hear again. His laughter was weird so he shut himself up quickly but listened to Alyssa's giggle until she stopped and stood up. Oakey followed suit and brushed himself off.

Eep!

Gideon was working on getting a better feel to his surroundings though the various sounds he was hearing from classmates wasn't really helping. He needed to focus on pinning where his partner was, only having a general area from his last position and where he believed the last question had come from. "Aye...I'm here," he answered once more, raising his voice a little so Vickers might hear him this time.

Then a thought crossed his mind and he couldn't help frowning. Maybe he had been wrong and the Ravenclaw was a year younger then him and so lost his hearing instead of his sight. That would make things harder since they couldn't really communicate with each other all to well then. "Um...okay," Gideon answered, using the last two replies to turn in the approximate direction Vickers appeared to be in. He would need to be cautious to catch the spell as best he could.

And when he heard the spell cast, Gideon raised his wand in defense about to cast his own spell only to freeze once more as his eyes were greeted with light once more. The blinding spell obviously having been taken off, the answer as to why soon was heard as the professor told them all to cease everything. He lowered his wand back to his side with a sigh of relief, briefly wondering where Vickers' spell was since it hadn't hit him until he spotted his partner facing a dueling dummy.

Whew...at least somewhere it was harmless...and hopefully they were done.

SilverDragon 02-14-2012 12:24 AM

Silvia was glad when her hearing finally came back. That last activity had felt strange, and a little difficult. She lowered her wand when she heard the professor calling for them to stop, though she felt she could have used a little more practice. Oh well, she would just have to continue practice another time.

Sky had been (silently) preparing to practice the spells without her sense of hearing, when her partner seemingly started to freak out. What on Earth?! She couldn't hear anything of course, but it was obvious something was happening to Beezus…

SPOILER!!: Professor

Right. She wouldn't be able to hear her. Yet as someone else was calling out for her, she held up her finger to indicate she'd get back to that topic.

Glancing towards Laura and her partner, her eyes widened a bit at the sight of the spots. Uh huuuuh. Yet before she could lift the spell from the Hufflepuff girl so she could hear her speak, Medea heard yet another person calling for help.

They practically failed altogether, but still, Medea was
pleased.

SPOILER!!: Beezus again

And… she could hear again. "What just happened…" she asked Beezus kindly. Because people normally didn't freak out in the middle of a class like that. Even if they had just lost one of their senses.

Now that she was slowly gathering their attention, she gave a quick reassuring smile to Beatrice before speaking. Right. Short on time. "That was a good start. For everyone." Some freaked out, but that was okay. It was to be expected. "However, ve are very short on time, so I think ve'll come to a close here. If you have yet to take notes today, I'd suggest doing so now when everything is still fresh in your mind, whether it was on vot ve discussed earlier or just simply how it felt to duel vithout a sense, because you vill be having homework on this. I'll be posting it up on the noticeboard later today."

Yes, the dreaded homework. "Other than that, you are free to leave. Vell done, everyone." Hopping off the platform, she was JUST about to start cleaning up when she remembered. "OH! And Miss Hyde and Miss Hollingberry, if you two can stay behind please."

Lily listened carefully as the professor finished up the class. She walked over to her stuff and quickly took down some of the notes from earlier along with what it was like without a sense. Once she was done she packed up. "Thank you Professor, for a very informative lesson. Have a good rest of the day." Lily thanked the professor before heading over towards Violet. "Are you heading to the common room?" Lily asked. "If you are, did you want to walk up there with me?" Lily figured it would be nice to get to know another Ravenclaw, so that she would start to meet new people and gain more friends.

It was over already?! Ella was actually pretty disappointed as she was finally getting the hang of the shield charm. She could always practice on her own though, in a safe place of course. Ella smiled at Messer, happy that they had been partners. "Thanks for partnering with me, Messer. I had fun." She then grabbed her bag and pulled out her notebook and pen, quickly scribbling down what the lesson had been about and how it had went. When she was finished, she gathered her things in her bag again and headed towards the door with another wave to Messer.

On her way out she smiled at the Professor. "Thanks for the great lesson! I'm really enjoying this class."

Taylor curtised to the professor, "Thank you for the lesson, Professor Romanos. I hope you have a pleasant rest of the day." She smiled and lefted.

Violet smiled gratefully at the teacher as she announced the end of class. She was also happy that she had her sense of hearing again as all her classmates chattering happily about the experience that they just had. Homework again? Violet sighed at the thought. She never knew when the homework pile was ever going to end. She crossed the large room and said, "Goodbye professor! That was a very interesting lesson with the dueling and experiencing the loss of one's sense. Thank you!"and walked out the door.

She saw her partner catch up with her from behind and turned around to say goodbye to her as well, but when she heard that Lily was going to the common, she thought better of it. Why not make new friends while going up and getting your school books? "Yeah, I'll be going to the common room. Let's go together." she replied happily at the fellow Ravenclaw.

Laura was about to leave when the Professor asked her to stay behind what had she done now, it wasn't her fault she had green spots, well anyway she would see what the Professor wanted, just as long as she didn't get Professor Hadley involved, she went upto the Professor and stood there waiting for the Professor to speak.

While waiting for Kennedy to respond, Kurumi made sure that she had a tight grip on her wand this time so as not to drop it when she cast Protego again. There were so many students casting spells all over the place that it was getting hard to distinguish voices - especially for those who hadn't yet gone through puberty just yet.

All of a sudden, her wand FLEW out of her hands and clanked against the floor. WHAT?! Kennedy hadn't cast his spell yet! THAT much she was sure of. So, what had happened?!

Howeverm in the next instant the blindfold was removed from her eyes and the first thing Kurumi saw was....Sierra. Had it been her?! Kurumi knew that the she-snake disliked her, but wasn't disarming her a little uncalled for? Kurumi shot the girl a questioning look.

Kurumi bent down and picked up her wand, pocketing it and returning her attention back towards their professor.

Kurumi was just about to throw her bag over her shoulder and leave the room when she heard that she needed to stay behind. Merlin...was it because she had asked Kennedy to perform Accio in order for her to get her wand back?! Was she in trouble?! Getting detention?! More loss of house points?!

Kurumi quickly made her way over to the professor, hoping to get whatever it was over as quickly and painless as possible. "You wanted to see me, professor?"

She looked around, confused at what had just happened.

"Raven, what happened?" she said, but she couldn't hear herself. Oh NO! She shrugged up at Raven, with a sheepish look on her face. She was silly!

She stood up again and rolled her shoulders out.

BAM!!

Zhenya didn't try to use the shield charm, but she attacked her back with Expelliarmus! Suddenly Raven pushed herself and she fell backwards.

"Ouch.. That's hurt.." she murmured.

Class dismissed? Good!

Raven tried to stand up. Her back was painful. Then she walked toward Zhenya and asked her to go out together.

"Let's go." then she noticed that Kurumi and a hufflepuff girl was asked to stay behind. Raven didn't want to know more because it's not her bussiness.

"Thank you for today, Professor."
