She was seemingly getting the hang of things with the wand movement for the Disarming Charm. It wasn't that hard. Just a simple rotation of the wrist and a quick snap to finish it off. Beezus then faced Sky when she asked who would cast the spell first. Now, wasn't that too fast? She gave the girl a forced smile. "Can I just practice the incantation first?" she inquired. Because well..she just wasn't that familiar with it. "I promise I won't be a burden," Beezus added as she put her hands together. If Sky knew how to do the spell properly, then the Ravenclaw would need to get a move on.

"I'm ready when you are." Nate said to the slytherin girl that was his partner. "Do you want to go first?" Nate was wondering if she did want to go first. Nate didn't like to go first. He just had to wait for a reply.

"Ok." Nate said with nervousness. He waited a few moments for her to get ready. Then he pulled out his wand. He thought in his head remember circle motion then flick. Nate raised his wand. Did the motion while saying "Expelliarmus." It would have to work. Because she just said to work on the disarming charm. Nate was hopeing he did it right.
Now it was her turn.

So far, only three of the students needed partners? Four if one counted Ellie, though her lack of participation from before had Medea wondering if she'd participate now.

One of them younger students though had Medea raising an eyebrow. As amusing as it would have been, she shook her head at Laura's request. "I'd prefer if you vere against someone your own age. Miss Emery (2111jen), you and Miss Hyde (Harry174) here can be partners." Was there an uneven number in the class? Or were there a few more that still needed a partner...

She was a person down unless Ellie wanted to practice with a second year, though somehow she thought that unlikely. "Miss Reyes, hold tight right now. Ve'll see who else needs a partner. Othervise, you can practice vith me or join someone's group if you vish."

Keefer looked around to make sure they had plenty of room. The others seemed to be giving the Captain/Prefect pairing a wide berth. He looked over at Arya, wondering who should go first. "I guess I can try first, since neither of us probably care."

He absentmindedly practiced the 'd' motion Romanos preferred. He had never used it with this spell, so he didn't want to mess up. I think I'll try a verbal spell first just to get the hang of this new wand movement. He was still somewhat struggling with nonverbal spells, so adding to new things into one incantation didn't seem like a good idea.

He got in a ready stance and checked to make sure Arya wasn't distracted. It just wasn't polite to shoot a spell at someone that wasn't looking. Clearing his throat, he executed a 'd' pattern and said, "Expelliarmus!" A jet of light shot at the Prefect.

"Me, professor," Janice said. "I haven't got a partner."

Was she late or something? Nah, she thought. I was kind of early. Or was it just my reactions that are slow? She came up to the front to the professor.

Ella looked down at Messer's robes and then at her own. Right, Hufflepuff robes. Duh! Once again her skills of perception had outdone themselves. She smiled at him, feeling like an idiot. "Nice to meet you, Messer."

When the Professor started speaking Ella turned to listen to directions. So they would be starting with the disarming charm, huh? Ella had never done it before and was excited but a little nervous. She looked at Messer and shrugged. "I'm not that confident with this charm, how about you go first?" She hoped he wouldn't mind taking the lead on this one. "Should we move towards the arena then?"

Why don't you go first? Oakey told Alyssa holding his wand out in front of him in a readying stance. Like Harvey always says "ladies first."

Justin followed Minerva to a clear spot in the arena and she quickly spun around as her wand was already out and at the ready. He pulled his from it's holster and traced the D motion with his wand a few times before says, " Expelliarmus. " as he tried to disarm her. But not on the first try was he able to disarm her. He smiled sheepishly at her. Then he tried to disarm her again. this time success and her wand was cast from her hand.

Ariana Stood up & went to a part of the room that was less crowded. She waited for her partner Jordan who she thought was right behind her.

Daisy giggled, deciding not to say that her brother had already helped her with the spell before. She wasn't perfect, obviously, but that little bit of practice did help. Grinning, she raised her wand and nodded at her partner, for her to prepare herself for the spell Daisy was going to attempt.
'Expelliarmus!' she said, waving her wand as a jet of light shot at her partner's wand in her hand.
'Well, that could've gone a bit better,' Daisy laughed, watching her partners wand make a rather feeble movement. 'D'you want a go?'

She sighed slightly, never went down well when you knew it was gonna happen ... she felt the sudden urge to use the shield charm but as the yoga maniac stated it was only the disarming spell that was to be used! LuLu closed her eyes tight and opened one before it was cast! She felt her grip go weak and watched it fling out of her hands very lightly though she wouldn't say it went far ''No, no you did well, considering neither of us did it before,'' she smiled back at her and bent down for her wand ''Umm.. sure,'' Oh? This would be fun! ''Expelliarmus!'' she said pointed at Daisy's hand and making the 'D' wand movement! She whistled slightly ''Ummm go ahead,'' she frowned

Minerva looked surprised when her wand went from her hand, but then smiled knowing it would happen. She walked over and picked her wand up "Ok, ok lucky shot. Try again mister."

At least she smiled. It was always better to work with someone who was a bit polite. And who was also a bit formal, it seemed. Sure, João still understood her perfectly, but that language was formal in his book. Well, he figured it was the French way of it, their elegance and delicacy. He snorted to himself, though his face showed nothing of his thoughts.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Mademoiselle Gardiner," he replied, eyes sparkling. It felt different to say a word in French after so many years. Maybe he should meet her some time else to practice the language with her, if she could speak it fluently too. Then, she could be as formal as she wished.

"You know, you're one of the few people that can pronounce my name that well." He chuckled. Yes, that was a compliment to her. Yes, he was impressed. It was hard to impress him, but she got to that point in... one minute.

Congratulations to her.

Arya totally didn't forget about her crazy 'Claw friend. Her main purpose for being in this lesson, this term at least, was to make sure SHE learned how to duel better! That silly Quidditch bat would only do her so good for so long after all.

"Professor," She started to take a few steps away from Keefer after instructions were given. "If there are no other partners close in age for Ellie, she can join us." Because she was sooo helpful and wanted to make sure her friend was doing the basics right. Hehe. While she waited for a response, she focused her attention on the other Quidditch Captain. Arya gave her wand a little twirl while he prepared himself, and when the spell was sent off, she flicked her wristed in an practiced upward arch with ease, casting noverbally.

The spell bounced off her shield and dissolved against the nearby wall. "Good shot." She set him a smile as her shield dropped and then waited for him to be focused before drawing a small 'd' and flicking her wrist. "Expelliarmus."

"Okay I'll go first, Oakey. It's the disarming charm right? So Expelliarmus is the incantation. I do hope I do this right. I've only done this a couple of times when we were playing the Flag Game in Charms Lesson, and it didn't work all the time,"Alyssa told Oakey."But here goes. Wands up!!"

She bowed to him, like what she heard people were supposed to do when they were formally duelling. Then concentrating on what she wanted to do and on the spell itself, Alyssa took out her wand and executing the wand movements like she was drawing an invisible small 'd' in the air, she aimed for Oakey's wand. "Expelliarmus" she called out and immediately saw a beam of bright light shoot out headed for Oakey.

Someone seemed to be talking, and it was when Nessie turned around that she realised a girl was talking to her, asking to be partners. Which made her just a little excited, because she'd get to do whatever sort of stuff they we're doing with someone instead of having to be alone. "Err..yeah..I am.." but before she could answer the question about being partners, somone else seemed to be talking to her.

Turning around for the second time, Nessie saw the familiar red head. What was her name again? She honestly couldn't remember. Either way, the red head also wanted to partner up. Ness looked from the red head to the other girl and then back to the red head. Umm..how was she supposed to choose one out of two of them? She didn't like the idea of having to say no to one of them at all.

Then an idea popped in her head, but she wasn't sure it be allowed. "Um..maybe we can all work together." That seemed the only fair way. "Or even better, how about you two work together..I'm kinda tired anyway." she honestly didn't mind sitting and watching everyone or more sleeping whilst everyone did their work.

Jordan followed Ariana to the less crowded part of the room, "Want to go first?" he asked her, taking out his wand. "Bring it on!" he grinned.

After hearing the instructions, Daichi looked at Jory and nodded towards an open space close by the windows where the dummies where. "Let's go there" he said and walked towards it, hoping that Jory would follow him. He had to though , since they were partners and all....

The Slytherin felt nervous as he walked to the spot. He was scared that it didn't work but then again, they were here to learn right? Daichi flicked his wrist as his phoenix feather wand fell out of his wristholster and in to his hand. He turned around as he faced Jory. "You want to begin first?" he asked, not sure on what to do.

Gideon's gaze moved to the professor as she spoke up telling them they could begin, the boy nodding and turning back to his partner. "Alright," he replied catching Vickers' motion to the one side of the room, the Gryffindor leading them there so they could work on their spell work. If he noticed the still-close proximity to the professor, he didn't make any reaction to it but he couldn't avoid noticing the remaining nerves of his companion.

Was there a way he could help?

"If you want me to," he answered willing to do whatever it was that they both wanted and he was pretty open-minded about their order himself. "Then ye should probably take a sort of offensive stance," he suggested briefly demonstrating. And then he returned to a straight stance so he could be ready for his own part to play. His hand reaching into his pocket for his wand once more.

"And relax...its just a class not a real duel and neither of us is going to do anything that will get us hurt," he added to try and get him to calm down.

For Lily (Hermione Lily Potter)
 

Violet walked to a space in the middle of the classroom. She beckoned her new partner, Lily, to come join her so that they can start practising with the disarming spell. "Come on Lily. Let's get to work on this!"

As she looked over to the windows, she saw creepy dolls that seem to be moving on their own. Was it just her own imagination or did they have a mind of their own? Violet tore her eyes away from the dolls and tried to stay focus on the task even though the image was now imprinted in her brain.

Kennedy nodded at Professor Romanos' instructions, then grinned at Kurumi's comment. Yep, round two it was...and he wasn't so bad at it, he wasn't great, but he wasn't a fail either.

He looked around and saw that there weren't many people around them, but he wasn't sure if Kurumi would like to practice with mats around. "You want to move somewhere else or is here fine?" he asked.

His wand hand was absentmindedly doing the a d in the air, beside to him. The times he's done the Disarming charm he's done the point wand movement, so this would be interesting, and hopefully have the same result as before.

Ariana took out her wand. Finally she could use it without getting in trouble. she gripped her wand and flicked it making the small 'd' shape and called out "Expelliarmus." Aiming right towards jordan.

"You can go first,"Cardigan said with a smile as she had been taught to let other people go first.And of course,she learned that the hard way.Anyways,it would sound extremely rude!So what was the disarming charm again?Oh yeah,Expelliarmus!She pulled out her wand,having it at the ready.Who knows when Sophie would decide to start!

"Okay then. " Jen said simply as she walked to where her partner was.

Sophie was surprised when Cardigan let her go first. She was expecting the girl to want to Disarm her as soon as she could! Heh. "Alright!" She smiled as she puller out her wand from her pocket. She had tried that spell a couple of times a few months ago and it didn't work. Maybe she needed to focus a bit more this time.

Blinking a couple of times, Sophie pointed her wand at her friend. Intention... she concentrated on the spell she was about to cast. "Expelliarmus!" She finally said, making a sharp 'd' movement with the tip of her wand.

Once Lily had successfully found a partner, she looked up to watch the teacher until they were able to practice something. After the professor gave them permission, Lily looked up to see Violet waving for Lily to catch up. Rushing to keep up, Lily smiled and looked around the room a bit. "I'm coming..." Lily caught up with Violet as they found a spot in the room. "Did you want to go first or did you want me to try it first?" Lily asked as she pulled her wand out of her holster.

Laura looked at the Professor. "Or come on Professor, I promise I'll go easy on you." Laura really like the idea of taking on the Professor and of course she would win, the Professor just used books so of course she wouldn't actually be good at spells, and she had no idea who the other person was and well she didn't like being partnered with strangers, they were well strange.

"I guess I'll go ahead and give it a try, if that's alright with you." It wasn't usual for Silvia to take the initiative like this but she was excited to practice this new spell. She practiced the wand movements a couple of times before readying herself.

"Are you ready?" she asked her partner.

"Nice to meet you!" Jayden smiled, turning on her heel and leading the girl to an open space away from the other students.

"I suppose we should start then, wanna go first?" She asked, her blue eyes flickering nervously as she bit her lip.

Kurumi idly twirled her wand in fingers as she took a quick glance around the area. It seemed to be...alright. After all, this was only a Disarming Spell and two fifth years such as themselves shouldn't have too much difficult casting it - even with the different wand movement than they were both used to.

"Here is alright," she said, moving one of her mats directly behind her just in case. Not that a yoga mat was really going to do much if she did fall backwards. Rotating at the wrist a bit, Kurumi practiced the d movement and then look up at Kennedy as she took on a typical offensive position more for appearance than anything else. "Alright, give it a go," she smiled.

Jen looked at who was going to be her partner.
"Well, guess you're gonna be my partner huh? What's you're name? I'm Jen. Plus..." Jen lowered her voice slightly
"What spell are we saposed to be doing again? I kind of dosed off I think.

Kennedy breathed in a nodded. He always got jitters before an activity like this, but he wasn't as nervous as he was last term in Dueling Club.

His body unconsciously took a offensive stance and in a quick motion he lifted his wand hand making a d movement, saying, "Expelliarmus!" A gold hue expelled from his wand, shooting toward the Gryffindor Prefect.

"Ready", Alex said. She wasn't really ready, but she guessed that she was as ready as she'd ever be. "Give it a go."

It took a lot of effort to not cast a Shield Charm on herself, especially knowing that the attack was coming, but Kurumi held fast and allowed the Kennedy's spell to hit her. Her entire body was pushed back only about an inch, but her wand shot out of her hand, twirled in the air backwards, and landed a few feet behind her.

Before going to retrieve it, she flashed Kennedy a quick smile. "Well, I think you've got a handle on that one." Now...to go get her wand...

He listened to Arya's plea for Ellie's inclusion. "Yes, we'd be more than happy to team up. A group of three would just let us practice against more than one person," he finished, nodding in affirmation.



Oh, so that's how she's going to play? he thought, watching his spell ricochet off her shield. Well, two can play that game. The competitive side in him had been roused.



As she began the 'd' movement with her wand, Keefer concentrated hard on the thought of a shield. Protego! he thought, just as her retaliation sped toward him. Even so, his shield was barely up in time to deflect the full force of the spell. He felt his wand give a feeble jerk and redoubled his grip, willing himself to hold on. To his immense relief, he maintained control.

Keefer looked to see if Ellie was going to join in. Not seeing her, he swiftly turned back to Arya and sent a nonverbal Disarming spell straight her way, attempting to catch her off guard. Even so, he prepared himself to cast a shield should his spell be deflected.

Alice stepped into the arena and spotted Maxwell in between the dueling pairs. She weaved in between some spell-casters and their partners, finally reaching her own, and held her wand at the ready. "Which spell would you like to practice first?" She inquired, glancing at her partner. She decided to try the Disarming Charm, and turned her arm in the upside-down interrogation mark as her Professor instructed. "Expelliarmus!"

Kennedy held his breath as his spell got nearer to Kurumi. He was used to people retaliating to his spells like in the flag game, but seeing the girl not move made the snake feel like if he did something bad.

He slightly flinched when his charm hit the Gryffindor. He almost had the urge to ask if she was okay, but she seemed like she was. Plus, it wasn't a dangerous spell or anything of the sort.

His cheeks tinted red and he smiled. "I think I do," he replied with a soft chuckle. "Your turn," he said, letting his arms fall to his sides. He was ready...kind of.

Justin chuckled as he saw the surprise on her face and then she collected her wand and challenged him again. " Alright, but you're asking for it. " And with that he took his wand and traced a D shape with his wand , " Expelliamus. "
He saw Minnie grasping her wand tghtly trying to hold it from his spell, but no matter how hard she tried to hold on to it it was not to be and out cam eher wand from her hand. Justin stood there smiling and giggling at Minerva's pretty little face.

Cardigan allowed the spell to hit her,causing her to land on her behind as her wand to fly out of her hand and land a few feet away.She laughed a little bit at how fun it was.The Slytherin was expecting it to hurt!Anyways,she stood up,rubbing her slightly bruised bottom as she picked up her wand,holding it at the ready once she got back to Sophie."You ready?"Cardigan asked as she went over the steps in her head:Exspelliarmus;sharp d wand motion. Exspelliarmus; sharp d wand motion.Good.She was ready.

Picking up her wand and dusting it off with her robes, Kurumi walked back over to Kennedy when she noticed one of her lions was not following instructions and she gave a mental sigh.
"Alice, we are not working on that spell right now," she said, casting a quick Finite in the girl's direction. "Professor Romanos specifically said Disarming Spell only." She pointed her wand around the room at others performing the spell.

She glanced at the pair of lions once more before she continued on her way back to Kennedy.
Having returned, Kurumi idly twirled her wand again and practiced the new wand movement a few more times. Pointing was so much easier... Kurumi looked up at Kennedy and furrowed her brow a bit when she saw that his arms were at his sides. Now THAT made her feel like a terrible person...casting a spell on someone who was completely defenseless.

"K-Kennedy, do you mind at just pretending like you are going to attack me? Like...stand in a dueling position or something?" she asked with a small sway. "I feel...terrible casting a Disarming Spell on you with you just standing there like that." You know, create the illusion and all that?

Sophie raised both of her eyebrows when Cardigan fell back. She didn't intend the spell to be that strong! "Sorry, Cardigan!" Then she noticed the Slytherin was laughing and smiled. Good! She was alright!

"Yeah, I'm ready!" She waited for the spell to hit her.

"Why don't we try disarming?" Maxwell said trying to avoid too much of Kurumi's attention, not that he didn't like her but he figured he must look like a trouble maker to her considering almost every time she saw him she was telling someone he was with to behave. "would you like to go first? or should I?"

Kennedy pursed his lips together trying to hide a smile. He had done that on purpose, placing his hands at his sides like a defenseless victim. He was just curious too see if she would "attack" him if he was a sitting duck...not that he wanted to be a duck. Ducks weren't cool.

"Alright," he nodded. The snake took an offensive stance, pointing his wand at her and frowned...trying to act like the big bad wolf. Was that good enough?

RAAAWWRR!

"Um, thanks," she said with a small bow. Kennedy would make a terrible Death Eater - if those sort of people ever came back. Kurumi bit on her bottom lip to try and suppress the giggles that were threatening to come out when she saw his facial expression. Well...at least he was trying, right? This was much better than him just standing there like a rag doll. Kurumi shook her head and rolled her shoulders, performing the wand movement twice more to make sure she had fluidity and all that figured out before casting.

"Expelliarmus!" she chirped as she performed a sharp d-shaped movement and watched her spell shoot towards the Slytherin prefect.

Vlimia turned around, seeing a girl of about her age. Finally! "Hi! Want to be partners?" She asked the other girl boldly. Usualy she didn't just go up to sombody like that, but it seemed like the only option. "I'm Vlimia, by the way." Vlim added.
VLIM-eeh-uh. Vlimia. She smiled as she recalled how many times people had read her name and mispronounced it. VLIME-ee-uh... VLIM-eye-uh... VLIM-eeh-ah. That was three too many people.

Eh? She wanted Raven to try first? Okay

Raven was ready with her wand, pointing to her partner, she casted the disarming charm.

"Expelliarmus!" She said the incantation loudly.

Yeah, he was scary now.

Frowning and trying to look mean. He'd make a great villain. Meh.

The fifth year was too busy in his acting that he didn't notice when Kurumi cast the spell and was taken by surprise when he looked up and it was just inches away from hitting him. His wand flew out of his grasp and into the air. He waited to hear a clatter of his wand hitting the ground, but it never came.

Hmm...where was his wand?

He looked around the ground and rubbed the back of his neck. Where'd it land? Kennedy was oblivious to the fact that his wand had landed in the center of his massive curly fro.

The wand proudly stuck out of his hair like an arrow.

Ooops...Kurumi thought that Kennedy had been ready for her spell, but judging from his slightly deer in headlights expression, he hadn't been as aware as he had let on. Perhaps he was trying to get more into character? He really should just give it up because he would make a terrible villain. How very Hufflepuff of him!

Kurumi watched as his wand flew out of his hand and...oh...hehehe. Now Kurumi couldn't help but giggle as the wand nestled himself in the mass of messy curls on his head, sticking up straight like an antenna trying to get radio reception. "Your wand is um...in your hair," Kurumi said as she walked over, deciding to take it out for him when...

Somehow, the Slytherin's wand had got all tangled up so bad that the Gryffindor fear they were going to have to...cut it out.

Offensive stance. Right. Vickers tried to mimic what Gideon was trying to do. He felt awkward, given that it was the first time he's done any kind of stance-- offensive or defensive. He shifted his legs a bit then gripped his wand. "O-Okay." Did he feel less nervous? Yes, but only because now he's distracted with trying to keep from falling over.

Why was she giggling? Had he done something? Kennedy's eyes looked up as if he'd be able to see the wand. He blushed at the situation and when Kurumi walked to him he raised his eyebrows.

His wand was really in his hair, wasn't it?

"What?" he said, slightly worried. Was his wand okay? Then he tugged at the wand and...Ouch. It was tangled. He tried to tug it out and he winced. This was just great. "Just pull it out quickly," he urged her. Before anyone else saw in what predicament he had gotten himself in.

Well, okay then… Sky herself believed in just winging it, but she realized that not everyone believed that. "That's fine with me, not a burden at all." she said casually, twirling her wand between her fingers. It did irritate her a little because, well what if the teacher decided to move along without them? But whatever…

"Expelliarmus. Oh and by the way I think we're only supposed to be working on expelliarmus." Nate said.

"Oh ok. Protego." Nate waited a few moments. Then he said "Expelliarmus." He was getting ready for her next spell. This was going to be an easy lesson.

Just...pull it out quickly?! Kennedy really didn't know what he was asking... "But...it's...really stuck...really REALLY stuck," Kurumi murmured, tugging on the wand a bit more. She chewed on her bottom lip for several moments and glanced around the dueling area. Everyone seemed to be rather distracted by their own spellcasting to really notice the pair of them.

"Kennedy...we might need to cut it out..."

"Alright, here I go." Silvia waved her wand as had been demonstrated by the professor. "Expelliarmus!" Nothing seemed to happen. She tried again. "Expelliarmus!" she said. "Well, I didn't really expect it to work on the first time anyway. It'll probably take a few tries to get it right. Maybe you should give it a try now."

Silvia turned around when she heard the other girl speak. "Oh, hi. I'm Silvia. Do you still not have a partner? You can join Alex and I if you want, and we can take turns."

Nate was about to say protego but before he knew it his wand went flying out of his hand. Then he just stared at her in amazement. "Good shot." After Nate said that Nate went to retrieve his wand. He picked it up from the corner that it was in and ran over to where he was standing before. Nate did the motion and with some emphasis he said "Expelliarmus." Hopefully this would work Nate tjought in his head.

He felt her tug it and he winced. He wanted it out.

It was REALLY stuck? Kennedy slumped his shoulders. He should have accepted Selena's offer to cut his hair. Gaaah! "Oh gosh," he said, shutting his eyes. This was going to be so embarrassing. Like hide his face with a paper bag embarrassing.

"If there's no other choice," he said, opening his eyes and looking at her. "Go ahead." She wouldn't leave him bald, right?


RIGHT?

Thankfully this time he was prepared. "Protego." He waited a few moments to cast expelliarmus. Then after that he said "Expelliarmus." While pointing his wand at her wand.

Nate was ready to direct another expelliarmus. When he was ready he said "Expelliarmus."

Seeing the spell coming at him he quickly said "Protego." Then Nate thought to himself him saying that's right I got ninja like reflexes.

Minerva tried hard not to lose her wand this time, but she knew it would happen. When her wand left her hand again she smiled "good job Justin." she then went over to pick her wand back up. As she got her wand she snapped back up facing Justin. My turn she thought and traced a d with her wand "Expelliarmus" she watched as his wand was hit by the spell.

"I know right. We should continue though until she says-. Expelliarmus." Nate was trying to trick her into thinking he was going to finish the sentence, but instead did the spell.

"Smart. Now it's just begun." Nate points his wand at hers and says "Expelliarmus."

Oh! Well that worked out well enough then.

"Perfect." she smiled. "Miss Trewhella, you'll partner vith Miss Reyes." Perhaps they knew one another, considering they were both from the same house. Close enough in years.

"As nice as that vould be of both of you..." she started to say, glancing towards the fiery redheaded girl. "There are others that still need a partner. I'm sure she von't mind." Or she would very much mind.

After a moment of watching them though, Medea shook her head slightly. "Miss Lovegoods, Mister Marius. Just the disarming charm for now, please. Ve'll get to the shield charm in a moment." They'd just have to get past that feeling of being cast on without a shield.

Speaking of needing a partner, Medea turned to the young Slytherin. "Ve'll just have to fix that then." With a smile, the Professor looked for that redheaded Ravenclaw, gesturing her on over. Yes, come join the class. "Miss Stone, Mister Vaughn here needs a partner."

Oh boy. It took all her strength not to sigh. "Perhaps after class, if there is time, ve can try a few spells, but for now, if you can join your partner." she said, nodding her head to the Slytherin girl.

Having started to walk around, the Professor paused by these two youngsters, noting their disarming spells as well as their...shield charms. "Mister Jones. Miss Penta. Just the disarming spell for now please. Ve'll get to the shield charms in a moment. Vell done vith your spells though."

"Okay then.Exspelliarmus,"Cardigan said in a hushed voice,pointing her wand at Sophie while she did the d thingy with her wand as well.Hopefully her friend wouldn't land on her behind just like Cardigan had!Even though it was only minor,it still ached.By then,she'd figured out that there would be no magicing body parts off.That was a relief!

Kurumi winced a bit and grimaced. Oh Merlin...this wasn't going to end well, was it? No, she needed to think positive. It was all about intent, right? Kurumi tried one last time, tugging on the wand firmly, but found that it wasn't going to budge at all. "Okay, um...just hold really still..." she mumbled as she pulled up on his hair and swished her wand back and forth a few times. "Flipnsnipwitit...Flipnsnipwitit...."

It took a few swishes and some more tugs, but Kurumi eventually pulled the wand free...and with a rather large clump of curly hair attached to it. "Um...h-h-here..."

Sophie was ready for a strong spell and firmed her feet on the ground. When the Slytherin's spell hit her, she felt her wand flying out of her hand and was pushed a couple of inches back, but didn't fall down like Cardigan had.

"Good one!" She said smiling and going to get her wand. "Should we keep practicing or what?" She looked around to see if they were supposed to be casting the same spell over and over again. It seemed some of her classmates were doing that several times. Right, then.

"Alright, Cardigan, get ready!" She finally said, pointing her wand at the Slytherin once more. She waited for her friend to be aware that she would be disarming her again. "Expelliarmus!" She cast, with the same 'd' shaped motion.

Jory followed Daichi to the space by the windows. He noticed Daichi looked nervous. "You can stop being nervous,'' he told the Slytherin. "If you turn me into a bat or something, I'm sure the Professor will be able to change be back,'' he added trying to get rid of some of the nerves.

"Sure, I'll go first.'' The Huffie got his wand ready."Ok, let's do this,'' he said to himself. He raised his wand. "Expelliarmus!'' he exclaimed making the wand movement- Circular motion with an upwards snap of the wrist. He watched, suddenly a bit nervous, as a blast of light headed in Daichi's direction.

"Okay." Well, he's not particularly good with a new charm. Somehow he always got a bad result but he just hoped that this time it'd turn out okay, because he didn't want to hurt his partner. "Yes. I think we should." Messer made his way toward the empty space in the arena.

He took out his wand and practicing the wand movement first before he began to try the spell on Ella. Messer made a circular motion with an upwards snap of the wrist. "Okay. Are you ready?" he asked the other first year. Here goes nothing. He pointed his wand at Ella and then he made the wand movement before he said "Expelliarmus!'' The young badger saw that he's wand flew from his hand. Instead of disarming his partner, Messer disarming himself. Very good, Messer. He picked up his wand with a groan. "I think its your turn to try." he said to Ella. Maybe he girl has more luck than him.

"Erm..." Tayla wasn't sure what to do herself. She wouldn't mind practicing with both Selina and the Hufflepuff girl, but wondered if Professor Romanos would. "How about we take turns?" She suggested, and at the same time looked around for anyone else needing a partner, but everyone seemed to have partners already.

Ohhhh look! Another person without a partner!

Glenn turned and smiled, looking at the girl that the professor had directed her to. "Hey." She said, walking over to stand by her. Glenn pulled her wand out of her pocket, "I'm Glenn by the way, unless you want to call me Miss Reyes." She laughed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

Fine with her. Fine with her! 'Okay, Beezus..get to it. She's giving you the favor of giving you time to practice,' she told herself mentally. "Okay. Here it goes." Beezus raised her wand and all the while repeating the incantation on her head, she uttered, "Expell.." Err--what was the incantation for the spell again? "Sorry.." she turned to face her partner. Another try. "Expalliyarmus. No..that was not it. Expelliarmus. Yes, that's the one. Expelliarmus..Expelliarmus.." She kept repeating the incantation until she was sure that got it right. The wand movement wasn't of a problem because it was quite simple.

And with that, she told Sky, "I think I'm good to go. I'll cast it first if you don't mind so get ready." Then the young eaglette pointed her wand towards the girl and using the proper wand movement for the Disarming Charm which was a circular motion with a snap at the end, much like a small d, "Expelliarmus!" she chirped.

"OK", Alex said. She tried to quickly visualize the wand movements in her mind and pictured the wand flying from Silvia's hand. "Focus, focus" she said to herself. Alex raised her wand, concentrated as hard as she could and said, "Expelliarmus". Silvia's wand fell weakly from her hand as if she had dropped it. Well it wasn't exactly the result she had envisioned, but at least she HAD disarmed her opponent. "I will definitely need to practice this a few hundred more times", Alex said. "Want to try it again Silvia or should we let Vlimia give it a try?"

Zhenya hadn't really known what was to be expected, having never performed or been on the receiving end of the disarming spell. So she hadn't known to grasp her wand very tightly or brace herself, so of course, her wand flung out of her hand.

She laughed lightly at Raven, and said "good job!!"

Raven smirked to see her disarming ability was still good enough to beat her partner. Yeah, she admitted that her performance in duelling was better than Zhenya, maybe because Raven joined duelling club last year while Zhenya did not.

She waited for Zhenya's attack. "Now it's your turn, Burton." she smiled and shouted her defiantly.

Great! Now they could get started, "Cool, you wanna go first?" Already getting her stance ready for her wand to fly away.

"Sorry professor. The both of us will try not to make that mistake again." Then he saw that she casted it at him. Seeing that again his wand flew away he went to go pick it up. He went over to the spot that it was at, picked it up, and ran back to where he was standing. He got himself ready. He pointed his wand at her wand, and did the motion while saying "Expelliarmus."

Ella followed Messer over to the empty area where they would have room to practice. She took her wand out, holding it down by her side so she'd be ready for her turn. She watched her partner as he practiced the movement of the charm, wondering if he was as nervous as she was. Was she ready to be a target? Not really but it was part of the class. She shrugged her shoulders. "Ready as I'll ever be." As he raised his wand towards her, Ella shut her own eyes, nervous about what might happen. What if something went wrong? She opened her eyes after a second, seeing that nothing had happened. Looked at Messer, she noted that his wand was on the floor. "Oh okay. That was a good try, Messer." She said, trying to be encouraging to her fellow first year. At least he had the guts to go first.

Ella took a deep breath and picked up her wand, practicing the d movement a couple of times. Then she looked up at Messer with wide eyes. "Okay, are you ready?" She wasn't, that was for sure. She raised her wand apprehensively and making the d movement said, "Expelliarmus." Perhaps it was the fact that she had practically whispered the spell or that she had her eyes closed, either way, nothing happened. She shrugged. "Erm-sorry Messer. Let me give it another go? Ready?" This time she raised her wand, concentrating on Messer's wand and imagining he was ready to attack her. With conviction Ella said, "Expelliarmus!" She watched as a jet of light shot from her own wand toward Messer's.

Laura looked at the Professor and smiled, seriously the Professor knew she couldn't beat Laura in a duel and that was why she didn't want to duel her. "I'll speak to you later Professor."

Laura then walked to her Partner and smiled. "Hi Jen, I'm Laura." Laura smiled and then she sighed and whispered, "I think it was some sort of defence spell or was it the protection charm, I can't remember."

"Hi!" she replied. "I'm Janice, remember? We met last year, I guess, in the treehouse.."

Janice could remember Glenn because she repaired her battered book into something nicer. Something that starts with the letter T, and it's quite hard to pronounce.

"So, we start disarming now?"

What? They were supossed to bow, they weren't actually dueling (Not yet anyways) I don't think you need to bowOakey called across to Alyssa. It was real nice of you though.

Oakey lifted his wand up in and pointed it towards Alyssa. He held onto it lightly and without much grip. Almost as if he were sacrificing it. Yeah I'm ready. Go for it Alys...

Before Oakey could finish saying her name though a bright stream of light shot from the her wand and hit him right in his forearm. His wand went flying through the air and landed a couple of feet right in front of Alyssa.

Good? Yeah if you want to disarm yourself. But at least he didn't hurt Ella that was a good thing, right? "Thanks." he mumbled. He wondered what when wrong, maybe he wasn't spoke the incantation clear enough or he was too nervous. Hmm.. He should be more relax in his second attempt.

"Yes. Give me your best shoot." Messer said nodding his head. He didn't realize that he was holding his breath when Ella said the incantation. He didn't afraid. No. He was just nervous. Yes nervous. But nothing happened, his wand still in his grip, Messer looked at himself hoping that all his body parts were still in their right place. Yes they still there. "No problem. Yeah. Sure." he said while preparing himself for the upcoming charm. This time he saw a jet of light shot from Ella's wand toward him, it flew his wand from the grip of his arm. "Good job, Ella." he said while walking to get his wand back for the second time. At least one of them succeed with that disarming charm.

"So I guess its my turn now?" Because she already had her and now its his again, yeah? "Umm..Are you ready?" He hoped she is ready. Messer pointed her wand towards his partner and made the D movement with it "Expelliarmus!" The young badger saw a jet of light shot from his wand toward Ella but it disappeared before it reached Ella. "Err..Sorry. Let me try that again." He pointed his wand again and did proper the wand movement "Expelliarmus!" he said clearly. Like before a jet of light shot from his wand toward Ella.

He turned as Professor Romanos walked toward them. "Okay, we'll just keep going with the two of us." He turned back to Arya, but Romanos wasn't done. "Oh shoot, sorry! We'll stick to just Disarming for now," he said apologetically. As Romanos walked away, he gave Arya a worried look. If they lost points for this, it was her fault.

"Okay, I guess we just let ourselves be hit, then. I think you're up next." He braced himself for impact, unconsciously tightening his grip on his wand.

Nodding, she followed Jayden to a slightly emptier area away from the other students. This would be good for practicing... Yes...

"Sure," she nodded, checking her pocket for her wand. "Expelli-YAR-mus, Expelliarmus, Expelliarmus. Okay, got it." she mumbled, as she tried the incantation.

"Hopefully, I'll get this one right," she beamed, pulling out her wand and twirling it around her left hand. Okay. Here goes. Making a 'd', with a counter clockwise turn and a small flick at the end, she focused. "Expelliarmus!" A small jet of light found its way halfway across the distance but disappeared seconds before reaching Jayden.

"Sorry," she mumbled, trying the motion again. "Expelliarmus!" she cried, watching the jet of light work its way towards Jayden and...

No time for being a gentleman, sadly.
 

João nodded with a little smile, right before he turned towards the professor to hear her finally let them start. Yeah, that 'd' movement... he nodded to himself. After all, it was only disarming, it was such an easy spell for someone with his knowledge... He turned back to Stella, or as she probably would prefer, Mademoiselle Gardier. With a small movement of his left hand, the wand was already out of its holster and in his hand.

"So..." he said, letting that hang in the air for a moment. So, who should go first? After one more second, he figured it was enough time to caution her too that he was shooting. She should be grateful just for that--in a real duel, the opponent would savour every moment of distraction. Raising his wand, he made the 'd' movement as he spoke the spell clearly: "Expelliarmus!" The red jet of flash left his wand. Yeah. It was easy.
