Throughout her years of studying, if there was one thing she learned, it was things didn't go as planned or there was more unexpected than the expected. Always be prepared for the unexpected. This was one of those times. Goodness! "Careful!" she said in surprise, holding out an arm to try and make sure Laura didn't fall. She herself had taken a few steps back so she didn't end up on the floor as well. "It's alright..." Accidents will be accidents.

Having taken the fluffy towels out of the chest, she closed it and placed them on top for the two to take. "No problem." she smiled, before looking out to the students practicing. Rain clouds, goo, and out of control orbs...oh my!

That was her queue to move on with the lesson. One glance at her watch confirmed it, yet... "Hmmm?" The towels? "Oh, no, it's completely fine. Don't vorry about it." They weren't her towels anyway, but the school's. Surely they could be replaced if needed. "Make sure to get all the goo off of your skin if you can."



And it was time to move on before there were more rain clouds or flying wands. "Alright! Everyone, stop your casting." Lower the wands! Medea waited until everyone had done so before continuing on. "Vell, it could have been worse. I think you all have done rather brilliantly, regardless of the outcome. You should be proud of your attempts."

One more glance at her watch. "Although ve're running out of time, and I vanted to give you a chance to do an activity or practice the offensive side of this spell. Just the first spell. Ve don't have time to go through all three again. So, you can decide right now vot you each vont to do. Either stay in here and practice the offensive side of Verdimillious, or, I have hidden quite a number of itmes on the first floor corridor that you can practice. They've all been put under the bedazzling hex, just like the chest here you've been trying to lighten up. Some are...edible..." Hint hint. "And some can earn you extra house points if you bring them back here to me."

"Before you decide, I must varn you though, there is the possibility of getting hurt during the practice of Verdimillious, so keep that in mind. Nothing serious, mind you, and I have a cream here that'll help if you are. But if that isn't so appealing, you can go ahead and join in the activity outside of the classroom. That is completely fine. So go ahead...and take a minute or so to decide."

OOC: Basically, you can decide on learning Verdimillious again with it's offensive side, or you can earn some extra house points with the activity that will take place on the first floor corridor. I'll give you a few hours to decide, and begin around 4am EST Sunday 18th. The lesson should come to a close on Monday or Tuesday.

Violet blushed at her clumsiness when the Professor walked over to her to clean up the rain cloud that was over her head. She saw a smile playing around the professor's lips and Violet thought it was probably the rain cloud that she had made. As she listened to the professor from her mistakes. Of course, she had made a circle with her wand instead of an oval. Silly, silly mistake. At least she wasn't the only one who made a mess in the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. Around the room, other students were causing extremely bizarre goo flying around the classroom, out of control orbs and other surprising effects.

Looking back at the professor who seemed to be very tall and towering over Violet, she said quietly, "Yes, I think I'll go change into another set of robes, professor. It will only take a few minutes." She headed over to her bag while her soaking robes still made big water drops on the floor. She quickly grabbed her second set and jogged slightly out of the classroom hoping she hadn't made a huge mess.

Jory stood watching the activities in class. This spell was really giving everyone a hard time. "Poor Kurumi,'' he thought as he looked over at the Gryffindor Prefect. Everything bad seemed to be happening to her.

After a while, the Puff made another go at the spell. He made the egg shape-like movement again. "Verdimillious Tria!'' he said. Hopefully, he looked to see if there even was a tinge of colour at least. But there was not even a trace. "Grrr,'' he said aloud getting a bit frustrated now. Jory hoped he would have made even a bit of progress.

Uh oh. Splattering the Gryffindor prefect in goo was probably not the best thing to do. "Oh I'm sorry Kurumi!" She shouted, stopping her shaking of her wand when the professor told her not to.

The goo had stopped spurting everywhere after a spell that Kurumi had cast at it. She stepped through the sticky goo to the front of the class and took a fluffy towel wiping the goo from herself. As she did so she noticed Kurumi's appearance with the purple powder and goo covering her. The badger let out a small giggle. She let her hair out and glanced at a strand that was... stained purple? "This won't be permanent? Will it professor?" Her blonde hair was just fine thank you. She didn't have any urges to dye he rhair purple.

"It's alright, really," Kurumi said with a nervous laugh towards the younger Hufflepuff. Honestly, mistakes and mild disasters were all part of the game as it were. Kurumi was always melting things in Transfiguration. She hadn't ever produces goo from her wand...yet. But after witnessing this bit today, Kurumi was really hoping that she never did. It was far too messy.

Removing the rest of the goo from her robes and face, Kurumi inspected herself and tried to see if there were any areas that were...still gooey.

Kurumi was a little relieved when Professor Romanos said that the towels were not a big deal...but she was pretty sure that the stains on the wall and purple trail would be. "I...I can help clean up the mess," she blushed. She HAD caused it and it seemed like using magical means was out.

Kurumi figured that she really should at least give this last spell a real try before time ran out, but as Kurumi traced ovals over her head, her shoulder cracked and her face wrinkled at the noise. Nope, wasn't going to happen until she did more stretching.

Just as well, she probably wouldn't have been able to produce any positive results anyway. Well, unless colorful explosions were considered a good thing.
Kurumi lowered her wand and once again took the pause as as sign that she really should stretch. So, she did so as she listened to Professor Romanos explain the final portion of the lesson.

Well, her choice seemed rather obvious - practice a spell that could potentially blow her up if she messed up or hone her skills on the more basic form? Yep. Going with the latter. Pocketing her wand for now, Kurumi walked back over to the professor. "I'd like to participate in the activity." No more trips to the hospital wing, please.

Alyssa heaved a sigh of relief when her "FINITE" spell was able to dissolve the orb before it hit the Mr. Murdoch, the Groundskeeper. She holstered her wand and listened as the Professor gave them the option to continue practicing the spells again in class or to participate in the activity that she had organized outside the classroom. To her, that decision was a no brainer for her. Alyssa raised up her hand, and even though she was tired, she told the Professor."Professor, I would love to participate in the activity too."

She didn't quite know if it was permanent or not, even if she inspected it a little closer. "I'm not sure." she muttered, staring at the purple for a moment before standing up straight. "Even if it was, I'm sure your potions professor vould know of something that could fix it."

The mess...

Now that she looked around the room, there was indeed quite a mess, and not just from the goo either. "No, it's alright." she shook her head and looked back to the Gryffindor girl. "I don't know vot some of this stuff is and I'd rather you not get hurt in the process."

In case it was all reactive against certain spells and whatnot.



They probably had thirty minutes, maybe a little more, before the class ended. Most so far wanted to do the activity, which was fine with her. "Like I've said, I've hidden a number of items out in the first floor corridor with the bedazzling hex, and you are to use the Verdimillious spell to try and find them. If you bring them back to me, you can grab a few extra points for your house. There are equal items out there for each house, and they are of course, colored the house's color, so if you come across an object that you know doesn't represent your house, leave it be."

"Also, if I catch the fact that you skipped out on class early or are using any spell other than Verdimillious, you will be losing house points. I expect all of you to be back here at the end of the lesson relatively unhurt; items vith you or not. Othervise, you better have a very good excuse. Other than that, you can go ahead...The items are only on the first floor corridor. Don't stray elsewhere."

"As for those who vont to practice the offensive nature of the spell, Mr. Murdoch here vill be helping us...vith target practice." Really, she really really owed him for this. Glancing towards him, she gave a quick smile before moving on. "You all know the incantation, Verdimillious, yet to achieve this side of the spell, the vand movement is quite different. A lot less elaborate I guess you could say. All you do, is point your vand at your target, and say the incantation. For example. Verdimillious." She pointed her wand at the invisible chest. A green line of sparks shot from her wand before surrounding the chest, snap, crackling, and popping around it for a moment before disappearing.

"It's effects can be quite effective in dueling to buy you some time. It mostly feels like little stings and pinches, making the skin become quite sensitive. So umm..." Medea glanced towards the groundskeeper. "Mr. Murdoch here vill let you know if you're doing it right. Like I said, if you do happen to be hit, I do have a cream here that'll help soothe the sensitivity."

For those who are doing the activity, you can start RPing in the First Floor Corridor, and make sure to check back here regularly to see an up-to-date list on what's been found and what hasn't! For those who are practicing the spell, aim for Mr. Murdoch! Hehe. Don't worry, a tough groundskeeper like him can handle it. maybe. Reminder, this class will end around late Monday (19th) or Tuesday (20th).

SPOILER!!: Activity Items

Ella had decided to stay behind and practice the offensive nature of the spell. She didn't even mind the whole minor injury bit, she just wanted to master the spell. She watched carefully as Professor Romanos demonstrated, noting the green line of sparks, and took a deep breath. Looking at Mr. Murdoch, she held up her wand, ready to try. "Mr. Murdoch, I'm going to give it a go now, okay?"

Ella faced Mr. Murdoch and closed her eyes, concentrating on what she wanted to happen. She was a bit nervous to send a spell at the groundskeeper, especially since he had never done anything to her, and it was making her have second thoughts. She tried to shake them away as she said the incantation. "Verdimillious!" She pointed her wand directly at Murdoch, expecting the line of green sparks, but only a faint green smoke emerged. "Er-that definitely wasn't right..." She said sheepishly.

Ooooo... So, Mr Groundsman here will help them with their spells? How nice of him! "Ok. Here I go, Mr Murdoch!" beamed Hades excitedly as he draws a circle with his wand. "Ver... Di... Mill-lious..." muttered the boy, now looking serious as he swishes his wand downwards aiming for the groundskeeper. However, it doesn't hit the man. Instead, it misses and hits the now visible chest behind him.

Sighing in dissapointment, Hades scratches the back of his head. How could younger kids get the spell quicker than he does? Usually, Hades aces any spells he learns. This is really embarassing!

Alyssa dragged herself back into the classroom. She kept dropping the Grindylow Plushie and was chewing one of Droober's Gum...and the Rabbit Plushie kept moving under her arm!!

She stood to the side not wanting to get in the way of the orbs that were flying back and forth. She DEFINITELY DID NOT WANT to get hit by one of those. So she sat down in the far corner on one of the mats, removed what was in her pockets and placed them on the mat, and waited for the Professor acknowledge her presence.

Amelia was chewing on some of the chocolate she had found when she stepped into the classroom again. She made sure not to get hit by any of the green orbs and made her way over to a nice area of mat and sat down. She kept the object she had found near her, and waited for the Professor to tell them what was happening next.

Medea stood on the side, watching the students attempts at the spell. She was also enjoying the fact that they seemed reluctant to hurt the man. Or at least wanted to prepare him. Unlike how she just through him in the hoop...

"Keep trying." she nodded in encouragement. They were doing well after all.

After awhile, it seemed a few students had returned from the activity. Goodness, they were fast. As to not disturb the other students concentration with loud talking, she moved over to the two of them instead. Found them all already? Eying the objects they individually brought back, making sure she could see nothing but yellow, she bent down to their level so she could whisper. "If you two just vont to hang out the rest of the class period or try this new spell, either vill be fine by me. Ve got a few extra minutes left."

Alyssa shrugged. "I don't mind sticking around for bit and trying out the offensive spell. I hope that Mr. Murdoch doesn't mind though."Alyssa told the Professor before taking a position alongside the other students. She looked at what they were doing and looked at Mr. Murdoch who was standing at the other end of the room. She first focussed on the spell and what she wanted it to do. Then she screwed up her face and stared at Mr. Murdoch focusing her full attention on him.

Taking out her wand, she pointed it at him and said, "VERDIMILLIOUS" sending a green line of sparks flying towards Mr. Murdoch....and it looked like it was actually going to make contact!! "LOOK OUT MR. MURDOCH!! DUCK!!" Alyssa yelled out a warning. Poor Mr. Murdoch this would be the second time in one day that she was yelling out a warning to him.

Jory didn't feel too good about having to aim the spell at Mr. Murdoch. "What if something went wrong?'' he wondered to himself.

But shaking is nervousness away, the Puff aimed at the Groundskeeper. "Here we go, Mr Murdoch,'' he said. Tracing his wand in circles, Jory exclaimed, "Verdimillious!"

Nothing happened.

"Er, that didn't go as planned,'' he said felling quite embarrassed. When would he get a hang of these spells?

Soon.

Waylon liked the sound of that. It meant that is wasn't happening right away and he had a little bit of time to prepare himself for whatever he had signed up to do. And he really, really did have plans of asking Medea what exactly he had signed up for, but it seemed the woman was busy with.. her class. And all the mess the class had made.

He needed to pay attention more. He missed all the fun.



But apparently the wasn't going to have a chance to prepare himself for anything.

Not even that red orb that was flying in his direction.

Scrunching up his nose as he watched the thing get closer, and closer, and closer, Waylon had just unfolded his arms from across his chest and placed his hand on his wand. Although it was pretty mean, he was thinking of somehow redirecting the orb to fly at Alyssa. See how she liked it!

Thankfully, though, before he had a chance to even raise his wand, he watched as the orb just disappeared. Yeah, take that, orb! he thought as he flashed a smug grin in the Hufflepuff's direction.

Can't touch him!



And very slowly, as he listened to Medea explain what the activity he was going to help with, the grin on his face began to disappear and he stowed his wand back into his holster. Target practice!? THAT was what he had so willingly volunteered for? Was he CRAZY!?

No wonder why Medea hadn't told him right away. She knew he would have said no, and now that he was there, in front of all the students, he wouldn't back out of it. That was why the woman taught Defense Against the Dark Arts, pfft.

"Right." he drawled, narrowing his eyes slightly at Medea before moving off the windowsill and moving to the front of the class. Since it was target practice, was he supposed to run around or something? Make it difficult for the kids to hit him?

Before he could ask, however, he noticed that the few students who had wanted to stay behind and target practice raised their wands. Did they not hear Medea? Hadn't she mentioned something about sweets? Why weren't they all running out of the classroom to go and find them!? Kids. Now they were the crazy ones.

Maybe some of the nice kids who had left the room would share the sweets with him. He was going to need it.

Heaving a sigh, Waylon held his arms down at his sides and watched Ella intently as she tried the spell. He really couldn't help the grin from forming on his face as she only produced green smoke. That grin was probably mean of him, but they were trying to STING him. "Good try!" He supposed. "Go again."

Now this kid, Waylon was already wary of.

The boy had called him Mr. Groundsman earlier, and he didn't know if it was just him or not, but it seemed like he really, really wanted his spell to work. Scary kid.

Even scarier as the green sparks flew out of his wand. Standing stock still, the groundskeeper closed his eyes tightly and waited to be hit. Only.. he didn't feel anything. Perhaps he was too manly to feel the sting, or maybe.. Opening his eyes, he focused them on Hades before turning his attention to the chest sitting behind him. HA! He missed.

"You missed me!" he taunted in a sing song voice. At least now he didn't have to tell him to try again.

"Oh no, I don't mind at all."

He was grinning now, feeling quite optimistic that he wasn't going to be hit with the spell anytime soon. Still though, he wouldn't mind if the other students decided to give him sweets afterwards. For all his troubles and stuff.

Too busy with his thoughts about sweets, he didn't notice Alyssa point her wand at him until he heard her yelling. Duck. Duck? Duck!? His eyes immediately searching the room for Daichi, the boy had said he was duck boy earlier in the class, and well, there were ducks on the grounds, Waylon realized all too late that Alyssa was telling him to duck. Why couldn't people be more specific? "Ow." No really, OW! Grasping the shoulder that the Hufflepuff's spell had grazed, he shot a glance in Medea's direction. "That really stings."

Ow!

Since he was hit once, Waylon was more than ready to get the heck out of the classroom. Wasn't the lesson over yet? He was sure that thirty minutes had passes already.

Of course, it could have just been the PAIN talking, and even though the Defense Professor had said she had cream for the stings, he was already thinking about taking a trip to the Hospital Wing to get checked out by Cece. He really hadn't seen her since the start-of-term feast. Yes, he would go and see her. Tearing his thoughts away from all the PAIN he was in, Waylon turned to Jory who was taking aim next. He couldn't have been anymore relieved that nothing happened. His shoulder hurt already. "No worries! Try again."

Her right arm sore from keeping the moving rabbit plushie at bay, Kurumi made her way back into the classroom just in time to duck out of the way of a stray orb. Um...maybe she should have just stayed in the corridor where it was safer?

Peeking around the door frame again, Kurumi spotted Professor Romanos. "Uuuuum...professor? We've found all the Gryffindor items..."

"I'm sure he doesn't." she smiled, standing up and moving back to her original place at the side of the students. Had to have a clear view of what was going on after all. Lies! She was pretty sure Mr. Murdoch did mind. Very very much, but she'd find a way to make it up to him. Somehow. Maybe with any extra fudge that was left over from the activity...

Continuing to watch the student's progress, she happened to notice one in particular. Moving around most of them, she stopped by Jory's side. "You're vand movement is off." she commented. "The circles vere for the side of the spell that created the orb of light. To achieve the sparks, all you have to do is point your vand at your desired target."

Oh? Someone's spell had found it's target?

Looking up to Waylon, her eyebrows raised a little at the declaration of...pain. Well yes, she did say that it would hurt, didn't she? Certainly he didn't think that she was being a dramatic about it...right? "Yes, that is the...desired effect." she said lightly, smiling a little before looking elsewhere.

Focus on the students casting! Not much longer to go.

Oh look, student.

Taking this opportunity to momentarily stray away from Waylon's comments of pain, Medea weaved her way around the students again, so she was standing closer to the door. No use in speaking loudly and breaking everyone's concentration. Might give their groundskeeper a heart attack.

"That was quick." she smiled. "Ve're almost done vith the lesson, so if you vont to just hang out for the rest of the class period or give a go vith this spell, you can do so. I'll collect the items when the lesson ends."

His aim is really bad. The most he succeed with this spell was a mere hit to the vertex of the chest when it was still invisible. Hades almost give up, throwing himself on the floor followed by a loud groan. Murdoch only makes it worse. He closed his eyes, thinking what could be the problem. It can't be his concentration or skills. Everyone knows he has those! Could it be..? Nah!

A few minutes later, the blue eyes open again. Alright. This is it! Last shot. If he fails, he's going to give up on the spell and hunt down for those hidden stuffs instead. "Verdimillious," spoke Hades firmly as he draws a perfect circle above his head level. Although this time, he is going to use a different technique to attack. The man standing there in his aim is the groundskeeper, Mr Murdoch. That must be his problem. Hades would never dare to harm a teacher or school staff! Therefore, he visualises Murdoch as Vulcan. Not just the normal human form Vulcan, but when Vulcan is about to transform into a werewolf. With a quick movement, he flicks his wand downwards. He stares intensely at the outgoing spell, waiting for it to hit the the groundskeeper. It won't miss this time for sure! "Sorry, Mr Groundsman," Hades mumbles to himself and smirks.

Mr. Murdoch had smiled at her? Was he actually smiling because the spell hadn't worked? Well that was certainly not nice. Ella tried not to pout at the groundskeeper as she readied herself to try again. This time she was kind of annoyed which only helped the fact that she was sending a spell at an unarmed man. Narrowing her eyes in concentration, she raised her wand and pointed it at her target. "Verdimillious!"

This time, her wand produced the line of green sparks and they were heading directly for the groundskeeper. "Erm-careful!" Ella called, forgetting that she was supposed to be trying to hit the man. She hoped it didn't sting too badly when it hit!

Tired form her hunting in the corridor, and all the spell-work, Ira trudged into the DADA classroom a little behind Kurumi, with her hands and pockets full of Gryffindor items. She saw that Kurumi had already informed Professor Romanos that they had found all items.

So she just went over and flopped down. Keeping aside all the things, she just looked around at the others practicing the offensive spell on the poor groundskeeper.

Turning back to the class with his arms full with the green objects he had found. Daichi had a proud smile on his face that lit up from ear to ear. Giggling a little as he saw the other students attacking Mr.Murdoch he quickly avoided the orbs of light before standing next to the Professor.

"Professor Romanos!! Professor Romanos!" he said and tucked on her robe to get her attention. "I found twelve objects professor! aaaaalll by myself!" He said proudly and showed her the objects in his arms. "But i couldn't find everything, sorry Professor.. But that's not my fault! My so called house mates didn't even help me!" he grumbled and pouted his lips in to a pout as he stomped his right feet on the ground. The moving rabbit was wiggling out of his grasp and it fell to the ground. Taking a few of the items with it and the Slytherin's cheeks flashed red as they fell out of his arms. "Oops, sorry" bending down , he tried to pick up his objects again but they kept falling on the ground.

Alyssa cringed when she saw her spell hit Mr. Murdoch who wasn't able to duck in time. "Ow...ow...ow!...I'm so so sorry Mr. Murduch. I thought that you would duck in time."Alyssa called out to him in apology. She almost ran to him to see whether he was okay, but then remembered that the other students were still casting spells at him. So she stayed where she was and just felt his pain. She decided that she wouldn't try casting the spell on him....or maybe if she did, she would deliberately miss. She really didn't like hurting people.

Yes, that is the...desired effect.

Waylon had a desired effect to mock the woman, but he decided at the very last minute that that would be childish. And really, he didn't want the students to get any ideas about him. Instead, he mentally mocked her all while rubbing his very sore, injured shoulder.

Next time, if there was a next time, he would make up an excuse as to why he couldn't help any Professor with their lesson. Unless that lesson was Herbology, he'd volunteer his services for that class.

Ow.

Ohh, it seemed Hades wasn't too happy that he had teased him about missing.

Stifling a laugh, Waylon cleared his throat and dropped his arms back down to his sides. He really should have been moving around, making it harder for the kids to hit him, but it was actually more fun to just stand there. The frustrated looks on their faces were classic! Although, the look Hades was now donning was actually unnerving. The Groundskeeper had all thoughts of running out of the classroom..

But it was too late to even move. The green sparks were heading straight for him..and hit him right in the chest. Ow. Ow.. "Owwww..." Holy Hippogriff, the sting hurt worse the second time! Glaring at the boy and that smirk on his face, Waylon frantically rubbed at his chest and took a few steps back. Make it harder for them to hit him!

"You got me, you got me." Don't try again..

Too busy glaring at Hades, Waylon didn't take notice of anyone else trying the spell out again on him. Of course, he realized a little too late that that was not such a good idea, and it was no wonder why he had never been good at his Defense class. Give him some plants or some creatures, he'd be fine. But put him in a situation where he needed to defend himself, that was a whole other story.

He really needed more hands to rub all his sore spots. Shoulder, chest.. now the stinging that he felt on his knee. How did she manage to hit that!? That was some good aim.. He wasn't going to say THAT, though.

Glancing down at his poor injured, and quite possibly bruised knee, Waylon hopped up and down just a little. Ow.. He did manage to give Ella a thumbs up. "Good job, you hurt me."

Oh, the pain!!

Waylon knew that he may have been overreacting just a tiny little bit, but really, all those stings hurt. And they all seemed to hit him in the most sensitive of places.. But at least Alyssa had apologized for hurting him, not that it was really her fault. He'd be having words with Medea, he would!

After he went to visit the Healer.

Standing back up straight, trying not to think about the pain, Waylon waved a dismissive hand in the Hufflepuff's direction. "It's okay." he tried to sound sincere, but it didn't really work. "Next time, though, I suggest you say 'Move out of the way.' Not 'duck.'" Because there were real ducks around.

Ella eyed the groundskeeper as he started hopping up and down. Oh no! I hurt him! That's not good. She frowned, debating on whether or not she should rush over and hug the man or something...was that frowned upon in DADA? Probably. Instead, she called out to the hopping man. "So sorry Mr. Murdoch? Do you want a break?!"

After a few more minutes of watching some of the spells start connected with Waylon, Medea glanced at her watch once more before moving out into the corridor to bring back the rest of the students looking for objects. Seems like it was just the Ravenclaws and Slytherins left.

Just after returning, she turned around after hearing being called rather loudly. Not to mention she couldn't help but notice the tug on her robes. Aw, young Daichi.

ALklkdf foot stomp. She tried so hard not to laugh.

"Oops." she muttered, instinctively bending down to try and help him with all the objects. Twelve objects by himself. Goodness. "It's alright. Just leave them. I'll be collecting all of them in a moment anyhow." That rabbit on the other hand, if he could catch it again, would be wonderful.



"Alright, everyone." she said, turning back to the rest of the class performing the spells. "I think our tough groundskeeper has had enough for one day, don't you think? You can stop casting now." Moving up to stand near him, Medea momentarily raised a brow an eyebrow at him before looking out to the students. Could he hold out for just a bit longer? "That is all ve have time for today. For those of you who found objects, leave them be. I'll gather them, but whoever has the moving rabbit plushies, come up here and place them in this chest."

Tapping the invisible chest once, it reappeared in sight, and opened up, revealing a few more towels and a couple extra little bags that were identical to the ones that held sweets in the corridor. "Anyone who found sweets, you can take those. Share them with friends if you vont to. The students who missed out though, I have some up here if you'd like, but just take one."
