Upon entering the classroom, ones first thought could have been that they had walked into the wrong room and was actually joining a cult. The room was exceedingly dark, windows having been closed off with dark burgundy, almost black looking, drapes that hung from ceiling to floor. Deep purple colored mats were lined perfectly from one another on the floor in rows of six while a deep red one sat in the front of them all where Professor Medea currently sat upon. However, one could find their way around the room, for scattered around were a great deal of candles, both lighting portions of the walls, floors, and ceiling itself in a rather ghostly glow fashion. Candles that floated in water surrounded with the stationary candles to light up the particularly extra shiny floor were placed strategically around so no one would accidentally catch fire, while large rectangle like shapes cradling the ceiling with an orange glow gave the final look to the room.
In front of each mat is a parchment already shaped into a long cone to be easily placed in front of you to be read. Of course, the Professor hasn't placed names to face yet, so please come in, complete the task of writing your name on the parchment in a mostly dark room, and become comfortable on one of the mats. Class will be starting shortly!
OOC: Please come in and take a seat on one of the mats [and be familiar with the rules and expectations]. Also, so you aren't referred to as 'that kid' or 'hey you', have your character fill out the name tag so we know who you are. The lesson will begin in about 12 hours or so. Feel free to hang out, but please don't add pages and pages of chatter.
Class has BEGUN! Please don't post a late arrival. Just jump in like your character has been there the whole time.

When Arya had heard that Captain Ellie didn't attend defense lessons, the first thing that came to mind was how she didn't know this fact, since she attended all lessons and was an active member of the dueling club, and the second was WHY didn't she attend these lessons?! They were, in Arya's opinion, one of the most important classes to attend. How else would the 'Claw learn to defend herself?
The Puff had quickly decided after that, that Ellie would be attending all the lessons so long as she was around. So this term.
Having a good hold on Ellie's hand, she entered the classroom and... oh. This was certainly something different. "It doesn't always look like this." No today must be some special dark room yoga day.. thing. She tugged the girl further into the room before she could attempt to leave, and seated them close to the front.
"Hello, Professor." She smiled at the woman as she released the other girl's hand to pull out a quill and write her name on the cone-shaped parchment.

That was Janice's first impression of the room. No one knew that she didn't really like this kind of scenes; with candles and dimmed rooms which looked very much like a haunted house. She shuddered and went up front to write her name.

Lewis would have been lying if he said he wasn't curious as to what this lesson would bring. Smiling to himself he made his way up to the first floor and over to the respective classroom. He missed the slightly weird atmosphere inside the classroom at first as he was busy inspecting an ink-stain on his palm but once he did look up he...did a double take. And walked straight back out again, without turning around.
O_____________o
After a few moments of just standing there outside the door, blinking in surprise, Lewis dared to take a small step into the classroom again. This WAS the right place, right? This WAS the DADA lesson, right? Because somehow it looked to him like some kind of weird cult meeting. On Yoga mats. Did cult members do Yoga?
Lewis hesitantly took another few steps into the classroom, and glanced at all the candles all around the room. Strange."G-Good day, Professor." He said quietly, as he passed her seated on one of the Yoga mats. Taking a seat somewhere in the middle of the room - not too close to the walls - Lewis reached for the parchment cone they were supposed to write their name on. Muttering "Lumos" he held his wand with his teeth so he could hold the parchment with his left and write with his right hand. So, there.
Jordan walked into the first DADA leson of the year, he looked around in search of an empty purple mat for him to sit on. He knew that this year he would have to pay more attention in this class, especially with the threat of Team Wolf and Jared. He walked around the class, plonking himself down on a mat but not before he had said "Good day Professor!"
He filled out his parchment appropriately and waited for further instructions.
Aurora walked into the DADA Room and blinked a few times, waiting for her eyes to adjust to the darkness. Cooooooool!! Mats and stuff... "Hello Professor." She said as she picked her way carefully to a mat in the second row and sat down with her legs crossed. Then she picked up the parcent in front of her and, squinting to see, wrote her name on it.

Hannah overheard the professor tell another student to write their name down on the parchment and realized that she had not done so. She took out her quill and very neatly wrote her name.
Gustav walked inside and greeted the professor before sitting on the mat.
"Amazing..." he mumbled as he examined around the place
He supposed to write his name on the parchment since everyone was doing it. Sometimes he felt Hogwarts was a little too weird or maybe it was some sort of new magic that they were going to learn. Oh well...he guessed he should do it too.
Presley skipped into the classroom, and took her usual seat, thankful that this one wasn't already occupied like it had been in Transfiguration. "Hellooo," she said cheerily. The blonde Malfoy walked into the supposed Defense Against the Dark Arts classes. She raised an eyebrow suspiciously for the classroom looked strange. It gave off a weird vibe that made her feel as if someone was watching her. An unseeing eye. "Good morning Professor," she said to the Professor once she saw that the Professor had not started the class yet. Finding Selena, in the crowd of people, she sidled up next to her and beamed at her bestie. "Hey Miss Prefect Sel!" she whispered to her friend, quietly for she didn't know what the Professor thought of chatting sixth years and the blonde wanted to make a good impression. Oh yes, good impressions were important. But nevertheless, Emma saw the parchment in front of her and signed her name carefully.

He was looking forward to this lesson; all of the lessons so far had been interesting, and he assumed that this one would be, too.
Hey, it was magic, what wouldn't be interesting?
Although from a glance around the room, he didn't know what to expect. Taking a seat on one of the mats, he surveyed a bunch of floating candles that he was pretty close to. Weird. Eh, he shrugged it off, pulled out a self-inking quill and scratched;

When Amelia stepped into the classroom, she was sure that she had made some mistake, because this didn't look like any classroom she had ever been in. But she supposed after a moment that a lot of the lessons here were weird and to just go along with it. "Hello, Professor!" she called out with a wave.
She found herself a mat to sit on, and noticed a parchment in front of her which she could only assume was to be a name tag. She quickly filled it out:

But Ellie didn't waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant to be here. She didn't waaaaaaaaaaant to learn Defense. She was perfectly happy with the few spells she knew, should she ever be attacked. And she'd gotten an O on the OWL, by the way, and was totally planning on dropping it.
Arya, apparently, had different plans for her. The Captain still wasn't exactly sure how it happened, how the Puff had gotten her at just the right time to force her to this class. Yet, she was here.

Ugh. Ellie sat beside Arya and filled out the cone.

Lily was looking forward to this next class. It felt as though this would be one of the more important classes. As she walked into the classroom, she noticed that it was quite dark. However, Lily didn't mind the dark as long as there was nothing lurking in the depths of the room. Moving toward an empty mat Lily greeted her professor kindly. "Hello, Professor." Lily sat on the empty mat and wrote her name on the parchment.

After she had finished writing her name, she looked up. Her eyes were slowly adjusting to the dark and could see multiple others sitting, waiting in the classroom. I wonder if we are doing Yoga or something like that... Lily thought as she waited for class to begin.

Lilly smiled at the professor as she entered the room. "Good day, Professor," she said. Wow, darkness. Parchment. Name. Obviously. She took a seat quite far away from the candles. Floating candles freaked Lilly out, big time. Because of that, she had the disadvantage of not being able to see anything. "Lumos," she whispered, wand in one hand, quill in the other. The young Gryffindor took the parchment, writing:

in scribbly handwriting. Handwriting wasn't her talent. Lilly had never been good at it, at the muggle school she had attended, or found it useful in any way. When would she need it in later life, anyway?
Laci finally found her way into the classroom where immediately she had the instinct to yawn. getting a mat of her own, she already felt her eyes drooping but nonetheless she got out some parchment
Well, now he wasn't sure if he should start walking away, slowly...it's not like anyone would notice, after all, the room was mighty dark. Only, his eyes started to get accustomed to it, and he could see much better that...hey! There was Arya! And if Arya had stayed...
"Good day, Professor." He nodded, and soon walked to where his Co-Prefect sat and took the mat next to her that wasn't occupied, yes, he'd failed to notice that his girlfriend was the person who'd taken the other mat. "Arya." He smiled, unsure if she could see his smile, for he still saw very little around the classroom.
The dim lights allowed him to see the piece of parchment in front of him, though...his name was supposed to be written there, right? Okay.
Sighs. SIGHS. SIIIIIGHS. Mortimer was not a fan of... scary, possibly getting hurt type magic. He preferred ... Charms or the like. But he did know that a proper education in Defense was crucial to a well rounded magical education. So with a slight bit of reluctance he made his way to the DADA class and peered inside.
COOOL! There were enchanted things flying about and he couldn't help but SMILE. Nodding to himself he slipped inside and looked around for ANYONE he knew. Sighs again. Taking a seat near the back he took the parchment and wrote:
Quote:
Mortimer Miarkos
Then like a good little Ravenclaw he smiled up at the Professor and said, "Good day ma'am." Yeah. He even BLUSHED. A little. Not much though.

Stella had gotten excited when the announcement about the first DADA lesson had gone up. It was one of her favorite classes, just behind Charms, and she was hoping they'd have a professor in the subject all term. Professor Glass hadn't been bad, but she'd sort of disappeared after one lesson. She was hoping Professor Romanos didn't do the same, and maybe she would be as fun as Professor Schirmer. Because of that, she didn't falter when the classroom seemed extraordinarily darker than last term. It was Defense against the Dark Arts, after all.
She still gave the professor a smile as she made her way to an open mat, though. "Good morning Professor Romanos," she said, settling down onto her chosen mat and pulling the parchment cone closer to her. Name tag, she assumed, so once her eyes adjusted to the dim lighting, she took a quill from her bag and clearly wrote her name.

What was with her these days? She was always running late to class, which couldn't be a good thing. Sigh. Eventually making her way to DADA, Ari slipped in quickly, greeting the new professor 'Good day, Professor!', and then quickly sat next to Gwen. Only then did the girl take in her surroundings. 'Mats?' Were they going to get some nap time? Ari would sure need that, but chances for it were slim. Taking her classmates' example, the Gryffindor wrote her name on the piece of parchment closest to her.

Oakey found a empty space and sat down. Taking out his quill and ink he carefully wrote his name on the parchment.

Arya, apparently, had different plans for her. The Captain still wasn't exactly sure how it happened, how the Puff had gotten her at just the right time to force her to this class. Yet, she was here.
Pouting.
And squinting. Cause it was quite dark. And....there were no desks?
Ugh. Ellie sat beside Arya and filled out the cone.
No, she wasn't speaking to the Prefect. ....Yet. HMPH.
Yep, Miss Lovegoods' friend still looked less than pleased. Now if only there was a way to get the redheaded girl sitting up at the front, it would become far more amusing.

Lily sat on the empty mat and wrote her name on the parchment.
After she had finished writing her name, she looked up. Her eyes were slowly adjusting to the dark and could see multiple others sitting, waiting in the classroom. I wonder if we are doing Yoga or something like that... Lily thought as she waited for class to begin.
"Good morning." she greeted with a smile in return. Whether the girl saw it or not, it was there.

The young Gryffindor took the parchment, writing:
in scribbly handwriting. Handwriting wasn't her talent. Lilly had never been good at it, at the muggle school she had attended, or found it useful in any way. When would she need it in later life, anyway?
See now that was far more pleasing to see one enter the room like. With a smile on their face. "Good day." she greeted in return. Alas! Another taking the hint to create their own form of light to see. Two students wasn't a bad number. Low maybe. But not bad.

She would be keeping an eye on this one. Medea knew what tired looked like and this one looked to be on the verge of just that. "Keep your mind running." she said, eying the young girl. Yes, we're talking to yooouuu!

Okay.
Quill and ink out.
Well, he assumed that's what he'd written...
"Good day." she nodded in return, watching him go sit by the Lovegoods girl and...what was that other girl's name? Miss Stone. It was too bad that the lighting in the room failed to let her see any badges. Either that, or she just thought they were neat little pins that the kids liked to wear.

COOOL! There were enchanted things flying about and he couldn't help but SMILE. Nodding to himself he slipped inside and looked around for ANYONE he knew. Sighs again. Taking a seat near the back he took the parchment and wrote:
Then like a good little Ravenclaw he smiled up at the Professor and said, "Good day ma'am." Yeah. He even BLUSHED. A little. Not much though.
She smiled a little at the kid in the blue robes when he entered the room, yet turned her attention elsewhere as he busied himself with writing down his name. Oh! Or not. "Good day." she greeted happily in return.

Checking the time on her watch, she took a note of it before looking up to find someone else having entered the classroom. "Good morning." she grinned towards the girl before checking off a few more names on her list she had next to her.

'Mats?' Were they going to get some nap time? Ari would sure need that, but chances for it were slim. Taking her classmates' example, the Gryffindor wrote her name on the piece of parchment closest to her.
"Good day!" she greeted, aware of what the time was. Just waiting on those few stragglers now it seemed.

Oakey found a empty space and sat down. Taking out his quill and ink he carefully wrote his name on the parchment.
Still trying to remember names to faces as they appeared on the parchments, Medea nodded and smiled towards the young lad who had just entered. "Hello." Mister...Gunter. Oakey Gunter. Good.
Arina eventually found the DADA class room and shuffled in, holding her things loosely in her arms. She looked around to find many students sitting at mats. She dropped her next an empty mat with more empty ones nearby, hoping the friends she had made in her dormitory would join her shortly. She passed the professor and offered a nervous "Good morning, P--Professor".
She glanced around the room and saw that the students already filled out their parchments with their names and years. She quickly pulled out a feather and some ink and wrote:

Arina Williams, first year Hufflepuff
Taking a deep breath, Arina sat back on her mat, waiting her her new friends to arrive.
