"Something on types of dark arts?" She asked in a more spoken up way.

klexos24 01-13-2012 01:41 AM

"Ummm...about demons?"Cardigan said with a frightened expression. She was creeped out by the darkness, the creepy lights floating in water, and the mats. This classroom had horror show written all over it!And she didn`t like it.....

Erindipity 01-13-2012 01:43 AM

Mortimer smiled over at Vincenzo when the lights got brighter and he realized it was his maybe friend sitting beside him. Awesome. Turning his attention back to the professor he raised his hand. "Possibly something basic... like maybe shield charms?" It was Defense class... wouldn't they be learning things that would aid them in DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS? And no, he was not trying to be a smartmouth... he was not sure if the woman was being... he didn't know. Foreigners confused him... and all people NOT from Greece were foreigners to him.

Somnium 01-13-2012 01:47 AM

Taylor raised her hand shyly, "Learning counterspells to defend our selves or maybe learning about different defenses or more about dark arts?" Taylor said the last part questionly. She had absolutely no clue but she knew she was blushing out of embarassment.

Magical Soul 01-13-2012 01:47 AM

The woman was far too cheerful for a professor teaching at Hogwarts, or someone that'd have the mind to arrange such haunted room for class. Her accent, on the other hand, was intriguing. Louisa found her mood lighten just a liiiiittle bit when the professor addressed them again with a soft tone.

Raising her hand, and shifting in her uncomfy ready-to-run position, Louisa spoke, "Doomed spirits? Resurrection? Summoning demons?" It all fit. And they existed in a way or another. If the bookworm missed one book to read, it'd be something to do with Dark Arts... they were so... dark?

Deezerz 01-13-2012 01:53 AM

Kennedy grinned at the Professor and got comfy on the mat. After thinking about the question he raised his hand slowly. "We'll learn how to defend ourselves from dark magic and creatures." Because there were dark creatures too and he wanted to learn how to defend himself against them, BUT he was also interested in learning about them.

Ringo 01-13-2012 01:54 AM

Logan was about to reply to Cardigan, but chose not to when the professor spoke. He listened and thought about this. What would he think about what they would be learning today...? Hmm...he thought about the class's name. Defense against the dark arts. He cleared his throat and raised his hand. "T-to defend ourselves against d-dark things like dark magic a-and dark creatures." he said.

sweetpinkpixie 01-13-2012 02:06 AM

Kurumi looked around the room. All the candles and everything were nice and relaxing, but they also sent a small shiver down the girl's spine. All the room was missing was an alter really. When Kurumi thought about the recent events in the wizarding world, it made the idea even more prominent in her mind as well.

Timidly, Kurumi raised her hand. "Cults?" she asked. The Cult of Walpurgis had just been brought down by the Ministry after all. It wasn't like she was pulling this notion of cults in the wizarding world out of nowhere.

Lissy Longbottom 01-13-2012 02:08 AM

Alex bounced slightly on the mat he was sitting on. "Some sort of defense that involves yoga?" he asked as he raised his hand. He sort of regretted that question as soon as he asked it, since he wasn't being TOTALLY serious with the new professor and all...but it was a valid guess, right?? Yoga mats. Defense class. Totally made sense.

Nicki Granger 01-13-2012 02:09 AM

Nicki raised her hand and said, "Professor, we will be learning to protect ourselves against those who wish to cause us harm."

iBeJenn 01-13-2012 02:10 AM

Thoughts on what the lesson would be about? Selena had quite a few thoughts about it. Most of them relating to ghosts that weren't friendly, demons, evil spirits and voodoo. Yes, voodoo. Maybe there was such thing as voodoo?! Nah, not likely, right? Selena looked around again. Light. Mats. What did they relate to anyways? Besides flying carpets in a room that could easily burst into flames.

"Are we going to be learning about... voodoo?" Selena asked.

Because it was very probable. As a matter of fact, this place looked like somewhere one would go to talk to the spirits. Maybe that was why they were here - to communicate with the dead. Though there were the ghosts for that and all... hmm....

TakemetotheBurrow 01-13-2012 02:12 AM

Ella thought about what the professor had asked. "Professor, will you be showing us how to block basic spells?" Ella realized she was whispering. Something about the atmosphere in here and the subject matter made her afraid to speak too loudly.

Starbreeze 01-13-2012 02:24 AM

Give her thoughts? But Eino liked his thoughts. He could share them, but not give them. If the room's ambiance hadn't, the first question posed by the strange professor inflicted some fear and displeasure on Eino. What was worse was that she didn't even say please. She ought to, since she was being so awfully gloomy and on top of that stealing the intellectual properties of her students. Eino's eyes slowly moved to his right as he noticed something not-so-unfamiliar and startled. Shivers were sent all over his body, but when he realized that his raised hand had been the cause of all this he quieted down. How did that get up there, he did not know, but he didn't have time to lower his hand. His turn came, and his mouth opened. "Perhaps we will learn how to identify and recognize something that is considered to be dark?" It was very important to identify the enemies first, right? The same spell didn't work against all dark creatures.

"Good morning." she replied in a sing along like voice, watching the girl take her seat before glancing at her watch. Almost time.

Medea, surprisingly, wasn't aware that this one had entered the room until her gaze accidentally fell upon the girl. Peering at the name tag, one eyebrow raised as a short chuckle escaped her. Well...alrighty then.

Smiling sincerely, she patted the empty space next to her before looking out to the rest of the class. That is...until she noticed that the young boy was just standing there. "You can bring your mat up here, you know." she suggested quietly with a little humor, glancing up to the young boy before looking back forward again.

"Good day!" she replied back with the same enthusiasm. Miss Campbell. Alrighty then.

Watching another young lad make his way into the classroom, Medea gave him a short nod greeting before checking a few more names off of her list.

And another silent one! Or maybe not. Silent to the Professor, yet chatty with her friends. She saw how it was then. Medea took a mental note of this. Only to make sure the kid sat with her friends all the time of course. At least to make her feel comfortable.

Watching another young lad walk in, this time in those red robes from what she could see in the dim lighting, Medea smiled towards him as he wrote his name down before checking her watch. Definitely getting close to time.

Looking up from her watch, the Professor automatically smiled. Reflex and all. Though it wasn't that hard to do. "Good morning. I'm fine, thank you. Hope you're vell?" she greeted in return.

It seemed all the stragglers were all the cheerful kids. Or was it just the young ones that had no clue as to what was going on apart from the older kids that actually knew better? "Good morning." she smiled in return.

Oops. Perhaps she had thought that fact a little too early. This one seemed so taken aback that they didn't even say hello. Completely understandable of course. Medea gave the young girl a big smile anyways.

Seeing another young lad enter the room, this time in what looked to be blue robes, for a moment, Medea didn't do anything. No. She was trying to remember just which house the blue robes belonged to. After a moment, she smiled to the kid before glancing at her watch for the third time in the past five minutes.

"Good day to you." she replied, smiling to the young boy, only glancing to the name tag once it was placed properly to where she could see it. Wasn't there another fourth year Greingoth in this class? What a co-inky-dink!

"Good day." she replied, smiling to the young girl before checking even more names off of her list as the names were continued to be written on the name plates.

"Good morning!" she replied, glancing up from her parchment list only a few seconds after she had spoken. Wait...who in the room was she talking to? For the love of Merlin...

This one she had no trouble with spotting. For one, she wasn't looking down at her list and two, she was looking right at him as he greeted her. If only she could know who had spoken before... "Good day." she smiled in return before looking around the room again.

Having been a little more alert of who was walking into the classroom since she became a tad lost with one of the students, Medea smiled over to the young lad that came in with the blue robes. Bluuuuuue robes. That was that...what house was that?

And what was he doing?

Eying the quill he had, she narrowed her eyes at it before glancing to her watch. Hmmm...

Before she knew it, another student with those yellow robes walked in, and after a quick smile and nod to the girl, she glanced at her watch one more time. Right. Should get started. Right after...crossing off a few names from her list. Oh! Quidditch captain. That is what that name plate said wasn't it? Or was she reading it wrong...

With one final glance at her watch, she slightly to herself before taking it off and placing it beside her on the ground. It was only after she made sure Daichi wasn't going to stutter the teeth right out of his mouth did she take out her wand and flick it towards the candles that sat behind them a good ten feet away, making the light shine brightly so it much easier to see HER and Daichi.

Nothing happened to the flames. Just the light from them grew; dispersing any shadows that may have lurked in regions close to them.

"Alright! Everyone. Get as comfortable as possible." And savor the moments because it was going to become mighty uncomfortable for them as they moved through the first lesson. She herself sat upright, crossed leg, and staring at everyone. When did so many kids get here? "Ve are going to go ahead and start."

"First of all, who can give me some thoughts on vot you might think ve vill be learning today?"

Vlimia was a little uncomfortable in the dark room with only candles and lanterns as a light. It reminded her of the chilling lessons she had spent learning... the Dark Arts. How ironic that she would be learning to defend herself against what she had learned in the same environment. Also... yoga mats were a bit odd, but Vlim had decided it was cool. You know, a very different approach. She also liked that the proffesor was sitting on a mat just like all of them, not at a grander desk. It gave a feeling of equality.
Vlim raised her hand politely as the first question was asked. When she was chosen, she replied "I suppose you will be preparing us, the students so that we may be able to—if such need arises—magically defend ourselves against things pertaining to the Dark Arts. Such as: Learning how to block unfriendly spells; and learning how to defeat dark, magical beasts. Judging by the environment, I would say that you want us to be calm but alert at the same time while learning this potentially 'dangerous' subject." Vlim said, smiling as well as she could in the room that was reminiscent of learning the Unforgivables.

RandomRaven 01-13-2012 02:59 AM

Wow, this classroom was a little bit.. spooky. It was dark and there are only some candles to enlighten it. By the way what did they learn today in this spooky class, huh?

"Professor." Raven raised her hand. "Maybe we will learn about the dark arts, today?" she answered doubt.

Team ronmione 01-13-2012 03:02 AM

"Maybe something pertaining to defending ourselves against magical beasts." Adam answered. Though, when he looked around he realized there would be no space to actually work with one. Maybe they would work out of a boggart. But then boggarts were a students fears.Honestly, he didn't know what to think of his answers, so he got shorter in height from just embarrassing himself.

Hmm..what possibly will they be learning today? Beezus looked around, she was still feeling spooky. But the class was already starting so she needed to think more. She shook her head violently, as if to shoo away all the scary and crazy thoughts she had in mind. Then she looked around the classroom again. All those candles and the mere fact that were seated on mats definitely had something to do with today's lesson, she was definitely sure of it.

And the only thing she could think of was.."Professor, are we perhaps going to learn some defense techniques against demons, especially those who dwell in temples?" she answered after raising her hand.

Zhenya had a bit of a think, and raised her hand, "Uhh Professor I don't really know... I would have thought it might have something to do with the way the room has been set up, but I can't think of anything. But perhaps we will be learning some defensive spells, or learn about the different kinds of dark arts," she said. It was just a guess, and perhaps not a very good one. But it was there.

Hey Ju 01-13-2012 03:19 AM

Sophie raised her hand. "Maybe some kind of... dark magic ritual or something like that!" it did sound scary though... Sophie could only hope for the best.

Tayla finished writing her name in the parchment (as well as she could given the dim surroundings) then looked up towards Professor Romanos and raised her hand. "Erm, Professor...I think we might be learning how to defend ourselves against evil spirits." The candles reminded her of eerie haunted houses and spirits who couldn't be put to rest.

HOPEendures 01-13-2012 03:40 AM

Jezzabelle relaxed and was glad in a way to see the light brighten. She could finally see the Professor a little better. She raised her hand, "Defensive spells?" This was Defense Against the Dark Arts right?

Bazinga 01-13-2012 03:46 AM

Minerva put her hand up. "Professor since it is about dark arts, could we be learning about some dark magic or how to protect ourselves from dark magic."

midnight_thestral 01-13-2012 03:46 AM

Violet raised her hand up while twiddling her quill in her other hand. "Of course, we will be learning some defensive spells for our future, but also the importance of learning Defensive spells"

MudInMyBlood 01-13-2012 03:48 AM

Hmmm....what would they be learning today? Hannah looked around once more at her surroundings and raised her hand. "Professor will it have something to do with being prepared for the unsuspected? Considering we are in a fairly dark room perhaps we will learn how to react to something we will not see or suspect?" It seemed logical enough to her. It would make perfect sense as to why it was so dark in here unless maybe the professor just liked it better this way.

Anna Banana 01-13-2012 03:49 AM

What were they going to learn today? What an open-ended question! An open-ended question that Sierra had no idea how to answer. She hadn't exactly had a whole lot of Defense classes under her belt. One, actually...and then her private tutor. Looking around the room, though, she tried to pair their surroundings with something that related to near darkness and the absence of light.

"Erm, ...does it have something to do with the absence of light? Maybe a dark art that exists and thrives in the actual darkness?" she asked, raising her hand. Now just what that might be, she didn't know, but it was her best guess.
