Violet got up and stretched happy that the first lesson of DADA was a success. She rubbed her eyes to adjust the new light, got her things and departed the classroom. "Goodbye professor! That was an excellent first lesson indeed!"

Zhenya was relieved her answer made sense to the Professor. She walked up to her and smiled, feeling as though her limbs and muscles had a stretched sensation to them. Not a bad one, either. "Thank you for the lesson, Professor. It was really great!"

Her mat! Was....GONE!

Kurumi was about to panic when she realized the it had been the professor's handy work. "Sure thing, professor," she smiled. She supposed that this meant that they would be doing a mild yoga routine at the beginning of each lesson? She wasn't sure if she was looking forward to this or not. "Well, I think it accomplished that." She was just about to leave the classroom when she was reminded of something. "Oh, um, professor, I can give you that recipe for those tuna cookies, if you want."

Laura looked at the Professor and smiled when the Professor asked her to stand up, she decided to do it because she didn't want to get into trouble, she walked over to the Professor and smiled. "You wanted a word with me." Laura had no idea what it was about though.

"Thanks...thanks, Professor!" Tayla said, stretching her arms and back a little. Her body was going to hurt for a while, she was sure. She smiled at the professor, took her things, and joined the other students who were leaving the room.

Minerva picked up her bag and started heading out. "Thank you for the lesson professor."

Maxwell got up and stretched, happy to be done with all the yoga and started picking up the purple mats and rolling them up, he placed them neatly near Professor Romanos' desk and said "Goodbye, Professor. I enjoyed the lesson and the yoga was...difficult it made concentrating on the lesson a bit harder."

Nodding a little, she shook her head a tiny bit as she turned back to finish fixing the classroom, that is...when Kurumi had spoken up again. It was a pleasant and welcoming surprise though. "Oh, thank you. I'm certain the cats vould much appreciate it." And so would her sanity. Verging on silencing your own pet was quite the struggle.

Once the girl stood up, Medea banished the mat.

"I did." she nodded, moving over to pick up the name plates. Of course, she didn't speak right away. Nope. She was momentarily distracted by what was written on some of these name plates.

Captain Laura, First Year captain.

"Have you read any of your required text for this class? Out of curiosity." she asked, glancing over to the young girl.

Laura looked at the Professor and smiled. "No Miss, I didn't think I needed too." Laura seriously didn't think there was anything a book could teach that she wouldn't find out if they were doing a spell. "I thought that everything would come together when we learned spells." Laura sighed, that was if they ever learnt any spells, was that all the Professor wanted. "Professor is there anything else you'd like to know?"

Brilliant! Now the professor's cats could be happy and drooling without her needing to make cookie deliveries. "I'm afraid I don't have the recipe with me, and there is a sort of complicated process that I should probably demonstrate...perhaps, I could meet you in the kitchens sometime?"

"Spells aren't the only thing you need to know in this class." she said, pausing in the process of picking up the name plates so her full attention could be on the girl. "You are required to have the correct books for a reason. I'd like you to read the first chapter before the next lesson. It's not long, I promise you that." She'd read it herself after all. "And it doesn't cover everything ve vent over to today, but it's a good introduction to it."

A complicated process wasn't exactly what she was hoping to hear. Quite frankly, her and baking didn't mix well. "I suppose I could...make time." she nodded a little, a bit uneasy with the thought. "Just let me know when and I'll be there."

Nodding her head at the professor, Kurumi adjusted the strap on her bag and hitched it up a little higher on her shoulder. "I'll deliver a note to you at a later date," Kurumi smiled, either by owl or Walnut most likely. Kurumi was in the kitchens several times a week, so she was free almost any time to bake, but could provide the professor with a sort of block schedule of her baking times and then she could pick which one worked best for her. "Thank you again for the lesson and I will speak with you again soon."

Seeing as the younger Hufflepuff was...having a talking to of sorts, Kurumi quietly dismissed herself and left the classroom.

Laura looked at the Professor and sighed. "But it's boring, I don't want too it means reading something and I don't like reading." Laura looked at the Professor and smiled. "Can't I just pretend to read it?"

"Have a good day, Miss Hollingberry." she said as the girl left the classroom. Good. Now she had to add 'don't burn down the kitchens' to her list of things to-do.

Medea arched an eyebrow.

Of course 'read chapter one' meant reading something. Though, however amusing the girl's reply was and fighting the smile that was threatening to show was becoming difficult, this was still important stuff. "Don't make me have you write a summary about it as vell, Miss Hyde."

Because she would do so.

Laura looked at the Professor. "Well seriously Professor, if I pretended to read the chapter then at least we both know that I haven't." Laura knew that the Professor wanted too get this conversation over with. "You know it would save us both the trouble." Laura laughed as she looked straight at the professor, and no Laura wouldn't write a summary.

What once was becoming difficult, became quite easy to do. The beginnings of a smile faded as the young girl spoke back. After picking up the final name plate, she slowly stood up and stared back. A student challenging her? That was a first. Especially over something so little.

"This isn't a punishment you know." If it were a punishment, she would've requested the whole book be read and copied onto parchment. "It is just to get you a little up to speed vith everyone else in the class...or risk taking extra lessons which, might I add, vould require even more reading and even more vork. I vill not discuss it anymore."

Laura looked at the Professor, seriously she wasn't very nice at the minute, she didn't really like reading. "Professor I don't like reading I think it's a waste of time." Laura sighed she wasn't challenging the Professor, she just didn't like to read, she'd rather spend time doing something else. "I ain't challenging you Professor, and I know it's not a punishment, I just..." Laura stopped well she wasn't going to tell her anything else.

Medea didn't answer. Nope. She just stared with that raised eyebrow.

That is until she sighed and went to lay the name plates on her desk. "You're just being stubborn. I said I'm not discussing it anymore." Turning around, she leaned against her desk, crossing her feet, nonchalantly pointing towards the door. Didn't want the girl to be late for any lessons now did she?

Laura looked at the Professor and sighed. "I'm not being stubborn, I just don't like reading that's not my fault." Laura really wished this Professor would stop being so mean. "Seriously there must be something you don't like doing?" Laura was wondering why the Professor wanted to talk to her and then now she wanted her to leave, well Laura would once the Professor realised she wasn't being stubborn.

Oh Merlin....

Sighing again, she rubbed her face. "Miss Hyde..." Goodness, she was being difficult. "I bet about ninety percent of your classmates don't like reading, but they do it anyway. You know why? Because it's required if you vant to learn something. You can't learn everything just from practical tasks like spells, and even then, you'll have to read something sooner or later."

"Now, I've asked you to read the first chapter of your book. It is only five pages. I assure you...no harm can come of it. Who knows, you might even enjoy it. You can either do so or am I going to have to talk to your head of house about your unwillingness to follow simple instructions from a Professor? It is up to you." This was the last time chance she was giving.

"But Professor why isn't learning spell all you need to do." Laura sighed, surely if you came up against a dark creature you couldn't just say hang on a minute let me read up on this whilst you wait, no it would be a spell you would need and you would need it quickly. "Professor I will follow instruction once I know why it's important." Seriously this Professor was being mean to her maybe if she went to see her head of house she could tell her that, she wasn't refusing to follow instruction she just wanted to know why it was important.

...

"For one, so you know vot you're going up against if you ever come cross anything that is considered dark arts. Do you think simply casting any spell on a creature you know nothing about vill alvays work? How about identifying said dark creature? Or even identifying when you are in the presence of a dark object? Vot to do when you come up against your vorst fears? If you lose your vand? Vot if you come across a situation where spells isn't your answer to safety? Do you think it vould have been important then?"

She said everything calmly, trying to keep the frustration from her tone. It was a good question anyhow.

Laura looked at the Professor. "I don't think knowing what is going to injury you will be important all you need to do is keep calm and if you don't have your wand run." Seriously didn't the Professor know that. "If I come across anything I fear and I don't have a wand I'll borrow one if someone is about if not I'd run away or attack it." Laura would probably run away but the Professor didn't have too know that. "But I'll read the first chapter for you Professor." Though if she thought Laura would read the rest of the book she was wrong.

Uh huuuuh.

This seriously wasn't so difficult, and the girl was making it harder for herself. "Good." she nodded slightly, tapping her fingers on her desk. Read five pages and be done with it. However, now that the girl put suspicions into her head on whether she was going to read it or not, Medea just smiled. "Don't forget to write that summary. One paragraph."

Yup. Now she had to do it. "I vont it first thing when you valk into the next lesson."
