Professor Williamson finished putting the last little spell on the enclosure containing more than a dozen happy, humming pygmy puffs of every color before stalking over to the doors of the barn. He threw them open with a grin, shivered a bit as the nippy air started to filter in, and then moved back inside where it was warm.
The man took a seat on one of the bales of hay scattered in a semi-circle near the pygmy puff enclosure and nodded to the students who were filtering in. "If you have a pygmy puff, feel free to pick out your own hay bale and create a name card for you and your puff. If you don't have a pet puff already, grab one out of that corral over there and settle down. Feel free to name it, make a name card, pet it, get to to know it, all that."
He picked up his own pygmy puff for the day, a lime green one named Nerf, and started petting it til it purred. Hehehee. Hopefully the class would enjoy this low-key lesson a bit more than the ah, last eventful one.
Oh yes, and he named a name card for himself too! Williamson flicked his wand at the stack of scrap parchments in the corner and caused one to decorate itself for him and Nerf.

He smiled gently at the Huff and looked to her partner. "Do you have anything to add, Lewis?"

The professor looked to the rest of the class.... "Anyone else have anything to add about pygmy puff genders?"

"Male pygmy puffs are FLUFFIER than the female ones!" Selena exclaimed, one hand in the air and the other putting Kent back on her head. Selena was pretttttty sure of that. Kent and Violet proved it. Kent was fluffier than Violet was. And nicer. Because Kent let her pet him. And Violet... didn't. And she had proved that by petting Kent. So she'd never know if Kent was actually fluffier, but he looked fluffier.

Oh no. They had run out of time. But she supposed it was okay since her and Edvard really hadn't been able to say that much about the magical properties. Hopefully other groups had been more successful.
Listening as students shared their thoughts on Pygmy Puff genders, she snuggled the Puffskein as it was passed over to her. It was so snuggly, she wondered if she wanted one as a pet or not.Then she passed it along to someone else.

They hadn't discussed it, but Keefer thought he may take a stab at it. Both hands in the air, he waited for the Professor to look his way before beginning. We diddnt get arround to discussing the activity, but Female pygmy puffs have a higher pitched squeek then males do. Olivia said as her pygmy puff ran along her arm.Oh, and whats the difference between a pygmy puff and a puffskien, besides their size. I mean, would a baby puffskien technically be a pygmy puff?
What was it with people? Why did every single person, always ask her if she was alright, or upset whenever she pouted. If something was wrong she'd frown not pout. Pouting was her thinking face, and what she had been thinking about was just why he's pygmy puff sisn't have a name, not that Lewis knew that unless he was a mind reader..which he probably wasn't.
Trying not to loose her temper she switched her pout into a small smile. "Yes fine, fine..just..um..Whats your pygmy puffs name?" she said quietly because she was just a little shy at times. Anyway..names weren't too important the work was, which was why Ness wouldn't have minded if he didn't have a name for the puff ball.
Notes...Nessie had to write notes. Nessie watched as Lewis took out he's parchment and started writing. She needed to do the same right? "Sometimes he does." She gave Lewis a small nod and then qrote her name, year and house on a clean piece of parchment. Once she was done with that she started writing Puffle's characteristics down, but was stopped when she heard what Lewis had to say.

WHAT? Nessie blinked and then looked up from her parchment to look at the older badger with shocked eyes. Okay yes that may have been true...but wasn't it just a tad awkward of him to say something like that? And one thing for sure, there was NOT a single chance, Nessie would let her little boy would be forced into reproducing..or whatever. "Errrr...yeah..I guess that could work but my Puffle'sisn'tgoinganywhere." she mumbled more to herself than him. It was really awkward, but school work was school work which was why she tried her best to ignore the awkwardness. As for apearance, Ness was surely convinvced that there was no physical differences between the females and males. "They all look the same to me." she gave him another nod.
Now? They had to hand in their notes already? Ness looked at Lewis's notes..he had way more written down than her, all she had on her page was not even one sentence. He would hand in he's then if he was okay with that?

Alright, but back to work. He did act like a girl sometimes? And she didn't think that was odd. Or at least not exactly very useful information in this case. "Alright." After staring at her for a moment, Lewis shrugged and added it to the list nonetheless. Maybe it would be important. Maybe THAT was the major differences between male and female Pygmy Puffs. Not very likely but what did he know.
Okay that reaction was...odd to say the least. Blinking right back at her, confusion plastered across his face Lewis waited for her to tell him what was going on. He really wasn't any good at guessing what was happening in other people's heads. Did she not like his idea? It would totally work though. Unless they accidentally put him somewhere with only male Pygmy Puffs. Well, then they'd know too. The plan was foolproof.
Seriously? Alright, he'd have never guessed that that was the problem here. "I don't think I'm allowed to like breed Pygmy Puffs anyway." Lewis stated with a nod, in an attempt to seem reassuring. He wasn't going to take her Pygmy Puff anywhere. This was all just theoretical thinking. Right? Just nodding at her next comment, Lewis added No obvious physical difference to his list. Well, that wasn't exactly a lot they had there. And the professor was already asking them to tell the class what they'd found out.
Seeing as Renesmee had started talking, Lewis averted his attention back to his cute little Pygmy Puff. Huh. Maybe they DID something to attract the females? Or maybe the females did something to attract the males. But then again they still wouldn't know which was which.
And why the heck was Renesmee apparently unable to speak properly?!

See what her Pygmy Puff does. And to whom." Get it? Yes? Somehow his partner hadn't been too thrilled about this idea, though.
Then because his gaze had dropped down to his Pygmy Puff and he remembered what he had just been thinking about earlier, he added, "Or maybe the males do something during mating season to attract the females. Like dance around them or something. Like a rooster." Looking back down at the Pygmy Puff, he added more to himself than to the professor, "Okay, maybe not dance." Because he really couldn't exactly see it doing a dance. Maybe it would flap its ears or something.
Cardigan picked up Giovanni off of her shoulder and plopped him into her hand.Giovanni would be a he;that was final!"So,how are we gonna start off?"she asked Angelina,not really knowing what to do.I mean,Angelina was the educated 2nd year here so she knew best.Hopefully....
Angelina smiled at Cardigan and Giovanni, such a cutie! She frowned a little and said, "I don't know. Maybe we should make a list of things we could like to include and continue from there whatever is the best thing on the list?" She hoped to not disapoint Cardigan, she never took COMC before. With her first year not having COMC and this being her first class and wasn't educated much, but she would make it threw it alright.

She looked at the list,"How about this one." She pointed at '(3) why are they so adorable???' on the list.
"Great!" Tayla replied. She took out her quill, ink, and parchment. "Hmm...I think they're adorable because...they're so small and fluffy."
Tayla jotted down 'small' and 'fluffy' while waiting for her partner to share her own thoughts. When Butterfly did, they could pass their list to the professor.

Yeah, Williamson knew this was one of the trickier questions, but it would make sense to get it out of the way sooner rather than later.

Tayla looked up as the professor asked about the gender of their puff. She had no idea how to find out and so remained silent for a while, thinking. Her pygmy puff Teacup made a short sound, which gave Tayla an idea.
"I'm not sure how, Professor, but I think you can tell the difference by how they sound when they squeak. And perhaps...their colour? They come in different shades after all... Maybe the darker shades are one gender, and the lighter shades another?" Tayla was thinking aloud and hoped she at least got close to being correct.

She stared at Jory's Puff as the boy tried to feed it wheat bread. Oh! Furball wandered over to her own Puff. HOW ADORABLEEEE! Sophie couldn't think of any other creature that was cuter than these guys. "No, I don't. All I had was--" She turned her head to look at both Puffs and realized the chocolate frog she was holding was now only... half of a frog. "Oh, look! Look!" It seemed they did eat chocolate after all!

It was so big and cute and fluffy and adorable and... just now Sophie noticed how quiet the class was and that there were groups handing in notes and answering for everyone to hear.
Oops! They were so focused on their task that didn't even noticed when everybody around them stopped working. Sophie poked Jory and pointed to where Professor Williamson was. "I think we'd better stop now before we lose house points!" She whispered to her partner.

Ella and Keefer hadn't really discussed the gender question as there was lots of talk about the name and about...tongues! Wait a minute...Ella raised her hand as an idea popped into her head. "Professor, could the length of their tongues help you to tell which is male and which is female?" It was a long shot but Ella figured she'd give it a shot anyway and waited for the Professor's reply.

There was more and more confused blinking going on, and before Nessie could control herself she started to giggle. If Lewis thought she was weird before, he'd probably think she was insane now nevermind just weird. It wasn't her fault that she reacted oddly to things, it was just who she was as a person and if he didn't want to acept it, it was he's loss not hers..right?
She was calmer now that she knew for certain he wouldn't touch her little baby. Even though puffles did annoy nessie a huge amount, she still loved him to bits and he was very special to her. "Good, because nobody is touching my Puffles." Yes she may have sounded rude, but she was just being protective.
Why wasn't Lewis saying anything? Ness looked at him some more, trying to give him looks that would make him speak. He obviously didn't notice though. It was too late anyway, the Professor started to speak again.
The way Professor Williamson spoke, made Nessie stare at him in awe again. He had such a sweet, pleasant voice and she liked it, just liked she liked most things about him. At least, even though she had stuttered what she had said was quite right.

He was talking about this mating season too? What was wrong with these people? Or worse, what was wrong with herself? Maybe she was the only one that found it weird, that's what it seemed like. Everyone else seemed to be alright with the topic, except her. At least Lewis started to talk now, but still they kept the mating topic going on. Seeing as she couldn't say much and she didn't like the subject , she didn't feel like listening anymore which was why as weird as she might have looked she took her two index fingers and blocked her ears.

Annabelle smiled at Flipert. "He is kind of cute. Here i will let Squishy play with Flipert. She needs a companion." she said as she lowered Squishy onto the hay bail. Squishy seemed happy to meet a new friend.

Not that, you know, he had ever dissected one. He had just studied about them in university.
He turned and tried to listen to the stuttering Hufflepuff, but it was hard to make out what she was saying through all the starts and stops in her speech. Er. Will ended up just nodding at what she said and took a minute to pause and translate.
"They act differently.... yes! Yes they do. You all might not have noticed it yet, particularly if you're a new pygmy puff owner, but male and female puffs DO act differently, especially during mating season! Good job!"
He smiled gently at the Huff and looked to her partner. "Do you have anything to add, Lewis?"
And ah, another group had had a discovery too, though this was one not related to gender! "That is..... a really good idea," he remarked after a thoughtful second. "You should definitely experiment on that, perhaps in the potions lab, and then sell your results to Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. You two could have a few good galleons coming your way!" Williamson was willing to bet loads of little witches would line up to buy that product.
The professor looked to the rest of the class.... "Anyone else have anything to add about pygmy puff genders?"
Zhenya's big eyes widened as Professor Williamson said they could try to make it to sell. "WOW! Thanks professor!" she said, super excited.
Then she turned to Ira to exchange a giant smile.
Now... what about their genders? She didn't really know anything about the anatomy of a Pygmy Puff, but she raised her hand anyway, "I don't know anything about their gender... but could they like different activities, or do they prefer the same sort of activities?" she asked.
She knew some boys liked to play sports, and some girls liked to play dress-ups, but sometimes it was the other way around too. If the Pygmy Puffs did like different activities, there could be an observational tactic in determining their gender.

Amelia nodded as she petted her little ball of purple fluff. She had deemed Pixie a female and hoped that she really was one. It might not be nice living your life named Pixie if you were actually a guy.
The Luna Lovegood thing may have proven to be right, but they weren't gonna go with it because she usually believed in crackpot theories. "Yeah, exactly. Maybe they and Puffskeins are only magical in the sense that we keep them. I can't really see them doing magic. I can't even find anything about that in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." But it would still not hurt to think of some more things.
Messer eyes still glued on his pgymy puff hoping that maybe his pgymy would do some magic or anything that not ordinary but it seems that his pgymy just stand still in his shoulder.
Messer's eyes went to Amelia when the older Hufflepuff mention about the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. "Yeah I can't find anything from them either." he mumbled. Then suddenly the Professor said that it was time for the groups to share about their discovery. Well, his group didn't work on the gender question so its not their turn. The young badger listened carefully and jotted down some notes.

Sophie was watching as the other students gave their answers and bla, when she noticed Jory gesturing. She looked at him and then down at the Pygmy Puff. Hm, so it didn't like chicken. Sophie wondered if it was a mattter of taste or all Pygmy Puffs didn't eat those things.
When Jory finished writing things down, Sophie stared at him. "We should hand it in later!" She mouthed, indicating the parchment. The notes about what Pygmy Puffs ate and did not eat, she meant.
"Because that look like pillows with faces..that could be a reason."
"Good one," Tayla nodded and jotted down Butterfly's suggestion. "There's also something about their little head in relation to the size of their body. They're eyes look so innocent...and their colours always seem to come in pink, purple, or a nice light shade."
Tayla wrote those down, too. Her pygmy puff, Teacup, made a tiny squeak. Tayla jotted one more reason down. "And they make sounds with tiny little voices!" Tayla smiled fondly at her pygmy puff.
"I think we should pass this in a bit. Let's just add another reason maybe...Anything else?"
