If a Skrewt could laugh, it decided that this would be a highly humorous situation. The professor was falling, the students were falling, some were shooting water, some were running, and some were just crazy. It was a complete disaster and highly funny and in the middle of all of the chaos was fire shooting everywhere. The Skrewt was highly amused with itself and the chaos it has created. It continued shooting fire and pinching its pinchers in a wild motion. It was thoroughly enjoying itself until one of the students hit him with water. And instantly its fire became hot smoke. Well that was as effective, but it was still effective. Finally, the professor was on his feet again and instructing the other students to join in with him and before the Skrewt could shoot at the professor again, it felt itself being hit with a pretty harsh spell and it was flying through the air towards its home. As it flew, it continued shooting fire towards the students as a final pardon shot. |
once again, thanks to everyone for participating! <3 we're wrapping up soon :) SPOILER!!: Awesome Students + Bad Skrewt Williamson watched as his class regrouped and worked together to keep the Skrewt levitating, and then, when he asked them to, levitating toward the Forbidden Forest. "IMPEDIMENTA!" he shouted loudly, adding a silent stunner along with his first cast, pointing Oakey's wand at the skrewt and watching as it spiraled away toward the Forbidden Forest. The thing's back end was still smoking and William could have sworn the creature would have been laughing were it capable of such a thing, but all in all, the creature was gone. Thank MERLIN. Now he just had to deal with the (likely traumatized) students. Quote:
"Don't make me restrain you again or you'll be kicked out of my class and thrown into detention." Indefinitely. Quote:
He nodded and then held the wand in his hand out to Oakey. "Thanks for letting me borrow your wand, Oakey. I uh, I swear I thought I still had mine..." He'd just forgotten where it was..... Anyway. Time to finish class up. "Let's regroup in the barn, everyone," Williamson raised his voice to be heard. "To the barn! We need to debrief and discuss what went wrong with our handling of that magical creature back there." Williamson led the way to the safety of the barn where the hay bales from the last lesson were still set up. "Go ahead and tell me one thing you think you, me, or your classmates could have done better in that...." that SNAFU, "that altercation with a blast-ended Skrewt." They could have a LOT of different answers here.... |
Daichi knew he hadn't helped much. His wand arm hung by his side as he continued to stare in to space. He wasn't aware of the impedimenta spell being used and that the FIRE blasting Skrewt was gone. Nor that a fellow Slytherin student had run up to it to save it and that a moment later he was tied by another spell. Only when he heard a faint voice somewhere in the distance that they should retreat to the barn did his legs automatically move. Entering the barn , Daichi's face was still pale white. His brown eyes were wide open as though they were re-living the past. Tears sprung in his eyes and a second later they glided over his cheeks. Where was Mr.Duckles when he needed him?! |
The skrewt was gone! It was gone! Ella jumped up and down excitedly before realizing that probably wasn't the best reaction. She looked around sheepishly and then listened to the Professor for instructions. Truth be told, she was happy to get back to the safety of the barn at this moment. She tucked her wand safely in her pocket and the little badger followed closely behind Williamson. |
Alyssa was glad that the Skrewt was gone but most importantly of all, that it and no one had been hurt in the process. She ended her levitating spell saying, "Finite" before holstering her wand. Picking up her backpack, she followed the Professor and the other students back to the barn. |
Amelia was so happy when the skrewt left the area, that she jumped up and down and did a little happy dance. They had done it! They had vanquished the fire-shooting beast. :33 When Professor Williamson asked for everyone to head over to the barn, she followed after him and her fellow students. |

Laura was happy that she had been praised for tackling her classmate, normally she would have been in trouble, but well she had seen first had what the Blast-Ended Skrewt could do and so she had decided she wasn't going to let the silly boy get hurt. "Professor I think I should have listened to you and not tried to talk sence into the Blast-Ended Skrewt." Laura sighed. |
Alyssa still feeling ashamed and embarassed over the incident in the Forbidden Forest, didn't even feel like volunteering an answer but she knew that she had to finish out this class before she could leave, so she slowly raised her hand,"I think the main thing that we ALL didn't do, was to work together as a team. Some people were freaking out, while others were giving orders when there should only have been one person. YOU!!. Then of course some of us wanted to help out, like I did but all I got was yelled at. Anyway, I think that entire situation could have been handled a lot better. We should all have stayed calm and stuck together |
Oooh, it was question time. Amelia raised her hand before she answered him. "We could have worked as a team better. Some of us were level headed and didn't panic, and others did. And we should have all listened to your instructions. Basically we could have worked together as a unit better." A lot better. :/ |
SPOILER!!: Williamson Oakey took his wand back from Professor Williamson and smiled. The smile was probably not needed after what just happened, but he couldn't resist. Oakey was positive that was the same exact Skrewt that attacked him, Ella and Professor Jenkins in the pathways, it looked about the same size. It was satisfying revenge having his wand deal the final blow to the creature, and the Skrewt had it coming too. No, Thank you Professor. He responded, as he pocketed his wand back in his robe. Would you like some help looking for your wand later? As he walked back to the barn with the rest of the class. Oakey responded quickly to Professor Williamson's question. I think what could have been done differently would be that we listen more carefully to your instructions, Oh and not throw things at the Skrewt! They're dangerous creatures that are short-tempered, I think the attitude comes from it's Manticore blood. |
Relieved that the creature was back in the forest, Kurumi lowered her wand and ceased her countering of the shooting fire with water from it. Phew. She was glad that that was over and shot Arya a quick smile. Could she...sit down now? She was feeling sort of exhausted. Oh, nope, no sitting down just yet. Grabbing her things, Kurumi followed Professor Williamson over to the barn, glancing over her shoulder every now and again to make sure that the creature really was back in the forest and not wandering back out again. Once at the barn, Kurumi took a seat and folded her legs under herself as she listened to everyone. See, it WAS one thing to talk about what to do and it was another one to act on it. It was just as she had said at the beginning of the lesson, she herself had panicked when she had come face to face with dangerous creatures on the grounds. It was a human's natural reaction to such things because your instincts of fight or flight were kicking in to high gear. Really, people shouldn't take anything too hard to heart. It was a learning experience. It was why they were in school. Mistakes were expected to happen. So Kurumi sort of just shrugged her shoulders at all the negative energy coming from people. Could they have been a bit calmer? Of course. Kurumi personally felt that her and Arya had worked well together as a team, having a mutual understanding of creatures and not freaking out the moment fire had started being thrown, so she was proud of what they had accomplished. Taking a deep breath, Kurumi raised her hand. "We just need to keep in mind that creature behavior can be unpredictable and to look for warning signs of animal aggressiveness and fear...because we were given them, but many ignored them." There really was no other way to say it. All the screaming, flailing, and diving to the ground had only frightened the creature and agitated it...and the candy throwing had been a bad idea. "As the Headmaster is always saying, we need to practice constant vigilance." Because, well, when creatures had been appearing on the grounds...students really hadn't acted much different than they had in this lesson - herself included when it came to the vegetable patch incident. |
SPOILER!!: zeProf With a final push with his wand Vicekrs watched the Skrewt float away, but not without receiving a final scare as the parting fireball shot past his shoulder. He froze that split second and only started breathing again when he realized that he wasnt on fire. Finally hearing the Professor say it was time to go the Ravenclaw hurriedly collected his things and followed the rest of the class towards the barn. |
SPOILER!!: Le Professy~ The problem with Hades is he tends to blur the differences between being single-minded and stubborn. Williamson's words won't be much of a use to this nutcase. Albeit three words caught his attention; Can't. Train. Them. "So, you're saying they're XXXXX classified?" his blue eyes widen as Hades stretches his body after he was untied. Did they just dealt with a very dangerous creature? If only the others hear this... Detention? Pfft!! "Detention is my middle name," he smirks. Practically. His actual middle name is Severus, one of the finest Hogwarts headmasters. He was thrown into detentions more than he could remember. At least five times a term. This term however, Hades has broken a new record for not getting even one detention. He sort of missed it, the cold and depressing place. |
Text Cut: ze Professor <3 Stella couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief once the skrewt had been deposited in the forest again. Granted, she still wasn't certain if it was going to stay there, or if Professor Williamson was certain it would either, but at least it wasn't shooting fire at them any longer. She'd slid her wand back into its holster as the professor had taken a moment to talk to the few students who had done particularly crazy things when the skrwet had attacked, and found herself glancing at the pygmy puff enclosure again. Hopefully Nuage and the others weren't traumatized by everything. She didn't want to go over to look when the professor was rounding everyone up though. Something told her it was better to stay with the group, especially not knowing if any other creatures were going to decide to get curious and leave the forest. It seemed the professor wasn't exactly about to test that theory either, as he'd ordered everyone to reconvene inside the barn. Presumably a safer place, and she followed everyone after grabbing her school bag and making sur eit wasn't damaged from the water and fire and everything else. Settling on a haybale once she'd gotten inside, she raised her hand as a question had been asked. "We probably should have assumed the skrewt wasn't going to be convinced to go back to the forest on its own," she suggested. "Dangerous creatures can't be bribed with candy, or scared away by things being thrown at it or past it, and we should have used magic to neutralize the situation and get it back to its home from the start." And I should have remembered the Shield charm instead of wasting time ducking when Alyssa had suggested it, she added silently in her head. |
Jory raised his hand. "We could have gotten rid of the Shrewt earlier, faster and with less risks if there was less panic,'' Jory said knowing it was true though he could understand why students panicked. The thing wanted to kill them, no doubt they'd make a good meal. |
i thought we were going to the actual barn(thread) lulz Settling onto a vacant spot next to Stella, Vickers was still trying to calm down and sort out his thoughts, he knew a COMC class would involve dealing with creatures and he's fine with that, just nothing of the level of a live Blast-Ended Skrewt, at least not without a heads up. After all it was a bit of a leap from Pygmy Puffs. Now what could they have done better with regards to that Skrewt incident? He raised his hand slowly as he gathered his thoughts for his answer "Sir... Blast Ended Skrewts have a tough armour that deflects most spells, but thats not what makes it so dangerous, its the fact that it shoots out fire. It essentially doubles it range and therefore the danger zone around it. Since shooting spells onto a Skrewt can be very tricky to be effective, I thought perhaps the best course of action was to contain it first-- cast a shield bubble around it or conjure something to "cage" it so that its blasts are neutralized. Once its contained, we could have either gotten it to calm down or sent it to sleep temporarily before moving it back to its own habitat." |
Ella sat on her hay, bouncing her knees. She was thinking about the question and a ton of answers popped into her head. "Professor Williamson, I think that we could have been less impulsive and more patient...easier said than done of course but it would have been less chaotic that way." Ella hadn't liked all the panic, it made her feel like she was going to faint and she definitely didn't want that. |
Gah! Missed the fun. Ugh laptop problem thingy. >_< Tayla had remained quiet most of the class and quite stunned, too. She followed the professor and students back to the barn. "Erm..." she began, shaking her head and trying to compose herself. "We shouldn't have panicked so much. We should have...thought about what to do first...before acting impulsively and making things worse." Tayla nodded and was silent again, feeling a little dizzy. |
last call for ya'lls participation =) All right, so they were back in the barn, they were safe, and... oh shooooot, William had left the pygmy puffs outside, all penned in on their own. Ooops. They would be all right out there for the next five minutes though, right? He was just going to talk to the students, give 'em their homework, and then.... Pass the puffs back to those who wanted to keep 'em? Quote:
He SHOULD be OKAY. Damn, were all of Willy's classes THAT traumatizing?! Maybe he should go back to teaching dragons instead of children... Quote:
"I think you're right, Laura, that would have saved us all some trouble." He smiled back at the girl anyway. Quote:
"Next time, everyone," he directed this bit to the whole class and not just Alyssa, "let's remember to listen to the adults around and heed their advice, eh?" So when he said DO THIS, NOT THAT, WORK TOGETHER, maybe they would. Quote:
Quote:
"Good! Yes now we all know to NOT throw things at Skrewts." He had certainly learned his lesson, anyway: he did not know everything there was to know about every creature. Especially not about Skrewts. Quote:
Please let them have learned something today. Please. Quote:
"Keep talking like that, and your middle name will become your permanent home." He rolled his eyes at the boy. Quote:
Quote:
Quote:
"That's a good idea, Vickers, you should have spoken up sooner," he remarked dryly to the boy. So what if Willy never used logic when dealing with the creatures? Soooooooooo? Quote:
Quote:
"I actually had other plans for this lesson, believe it or not, where we were going to encounter a dangerous creature in a controlled setting, but since the Skrewt showed up...." William shrugged. He'd have to send an owl to Medea explaining how his class had ended up going and that they'd reschedule for next term. So! That just left two things. "Would anyone else like to share their thoughts or ask any questions? If not, I'll assign your homework for today's lesson... and I just want to say, despite all the panicking and not following directions, you are a very impressive group of students and I'm proud of all you." There. A little positive motivation for them. He meant it, too, every word. |

As he waited for the other students to file in to the barn, Daichi used the sleeve from his robe to wipe away the tears in his eyes and cheeks. He wanted this class to end ..no .. he wanted Mr.Duckles his plushed duck who was still at home. That thing gave him comfort but he felt lost in these kind of situations (which luckily didn't occur too often) without it. He hadn't heard the Professor saying his name but he did fell a hand on his shoulder. The Slytherin snapped his head up before he relaxed a bit and tried to smile, even if it is a weak smile. But upon hearing what he said Daichi frowned. "I-I wasn't scared of the the creature but..because of the fir--" He trailed off as he blushed feverishly and looked back down at his lap. He didn't like it that anyone knew... only one person in Hogwarts knew his past and he hadn't seen that person in a while either so he couldn't talk about it. "I-i'm fine, sir.. sorry" Quote:
And then... he was proud of them? His cheeks flashed red for the second time because he didn't have the feeling he was directing his words towards him. The only thing he had done this lesson was ...standing still in fear. Oh and throwing away his PRECIOUS CHOCOLATE! "P-professor?" he voiced with his hand raised. "Can i have..Mr.Duckl--i mean Ducky duck back? Please?" He meant his Pygmy Puff of course. |
Ella smiled as the Professor praised the class. It was good to hear, especially since they hadn't exactly acted as he wanted them to during the skrewt |

She took up the rear of the group going into the barn, though when inside, took a seat up front as usual. Her hand found it's way into her pocket, and she couldn't help but fiddle around for a certain object, having her to miss the first part of the discussion. But really it wasn't anything she didn't already know, was it? Her behavior with Kurumi earlier has surely proven that. Hand out of pocket now, her thoughts drifted back to the conversation at hand, completely missing a few comments and ignoring others... Quote:

Lily didn't really have anything else to say... All she had really done when the skrewt arrived was stay well out of the way of the professor and everyone else. But she did kinda have a question. So she raised her hand before asking it. "If we were to encounter a dangerous animal like that, what spell would be our best tool of defense if we needed it?" That would be something good to know in case they ever ran into an animal like that and didn't have a professor around to help them. |
Alyssa raised her hand and said,"I'm sorry grabbing for you Professor. It was just a reflex reaction. Anyway what did happen to the Bowtruckle? Did it get burned by the flames? I hope not....and uh!....can I have Nerfball back too?" Alyssa quickly slipped that in before looking back down at the ground. |
yo prefects, don't forget to actually post the homework up on yo' house's board. ;P Quote:
"Gimme a sec, Daichi, and I'll make an announcement about that." Quote:
"I could tell you two really bonded from your journals," Willy nodded. "I'm going to make an announcement about that in a second though, Ella." Hold your hippogriffs! Hehee. Quote:
Quote:
He nodded at the curious 'Claw and scratched his chin. "Two points to Ravenclaw for asking a fantastic question, by the way." Quote:
"Two more things, class. One: your homework assignment is here," he flicked his wand at the usual stretch of wall so it appeared in writing on the barn, "so don't forget to copy it down before you leave. And two: if you would like to permanently adopt the pymgy puff you played with last lesson and took care of for homework, see me after class. Or if you have somewhere to be right now, you can owl me before your final with the name and description of your pygmy puff." Williamson smiled at his students. "Enjoy the nice weather, too." He was in a weirdly good mood after fighting off that skrewt. Heh. It was almost like the man had already....forgotten the incident.... |
