Merlin! Merlin! Merlin! MERLIN!! What in hippogriff's dung was the professor talking about? Did he want to put Hades to sleep during class? Not to mention that the temperature was very comfortable that he can fall asleep without even realising it. The boy ignored whatever Scabior talked about. It won't do him any good to remember them all. Nevertheless, the question managed to enter Hades' hearing. "The Triwizard Tournament during Potter's era," he yawned. He didn't know nor even car what year when it happened.

"Um," said Silvia after raising her hand. "Wasn't a funeral held out here once? For former Headmaster Dumbledore?"

Minerva listened as everyone spoke before she had a chance. She decided not to answer this question since she had answered all the other ones so far. She didn't want everyone thinking she was a know it all or anything.

"There were so many creatures in the lake. I heard there were giant squid, merpeople and also grindylow." asnwered her. And the two major events..

"I just knew the triwizard tournament. The second task was held there." and the other one? Well, she didn't know.

The Professor taught so fast! Sometimes she didn't understand because it was too fast.

Honestly? THIS many students did not listen? It was a simple question he was sure. It would be fine if they got the question wrong because they named the wrong event that was BY the lake. But they hadn't. "I'd advise you all to clean out your ears. I did not say that the event took place in the lake. I specifically said by and or around and so the second task in the Triwizard Tournment of 1994-which we already spoke about, could not be one of the events, because it took place in the lake." He would have taken points if it hadn't been for the fact that SO MANY of them were wrong
...What history book was this girl reading? "Severus Snape died in the Shrieking Shack." He eyed the girl. "That is no where around here."


Finally! Someone that seemed to be listening! "Correct." He said with a slight smile. This kid seemed to know a thing or two. "Albus Dumbledore's funeral took place right by the lake." He paused. "Two points for you." Since NO ONE ELSE seemed to listen.

"Correct." She was right as well, but the boy had said it first


Scabior just gazed at the Hufflepuff. "While your events are correct Miss Potter, I specifically said to only name one. 5 points from Hufflepuff." He was not in the mood for students who COULD NOT listen.

"It could have been." He nodded. "However that is not known, so I wouldn't list it as one of the two important events." THAT was a valid guess. Not any more triwizard nonsense.

"Correct, good job." He nodded, and then gave the girl a small smile. Because ANY answer other than the WRONG Triwizard one would make him glad at the moment. And Wow. He hadn't even thought of that. "Yes. That was actually a really important event. One of the ones I hadn't thought of. Two points to your house."

"Right, just like Miss Hollingberry said." He nodded.


"Right. And that is one of the important events."

Scabior clearly was not impressed by most of the answers. He frowned as he waited to see if there would be any more answers.

"As I said before, the majority of you need to clean out your ears." His frown deepened. "Around and by the lake does not mean in it." How was he suppose to teach if they did not LISTEN.

"One event was said by a small number of you. Which was, the funeral of Albus Dumbledore. It was held by the lake. And of course, it was important in Hogwarts and wizarding history, since no one can argue that Dumbledore was a great wizard and headmaster." Yes? Good. "The second event was mentioned by one person. Miss Potter. However Miss Potter failed to listen to my instructions as well. As I said name one of the events and she proceeded to name them both." And that was JUST as bad. Either way she wasn't listening.

"The second event is known as the attack at the Black Lake. When over a hundred Dementors swarmed the Lake on 6 June, 1994 ." Pause. Because that was an IMPORTANT date. "To recapture escaped alleged murder Sirius Black. They were defeated by Harry Potter." The chosen one himself. The story was confusing and Dash WOULD have gotten into it if he has not been SO annoyed.

"Miss Hollingberry, also mentioned another event, which took place by the lake. Lord Voldemort, breaking into Dumbledores grave. And that was actually extremely important too, because he did so to steal the elder wand." Elder wand..last term. Cool.

He sighed. "Anyways, The lake is known for more than just being a body of water and having an important to Hogwarts history." He turned to look at William. "It is also know for the creatures that reside in it." His cue.

Talyor blushed in embarassment when the teacher said that she needed to clean out her ears. She fiddled with her quill and paid even closer attention to what the teacher was saying.

Creatures that reside in the lake? Bartholomew Henry was one of the creatures which resided in the lake. Squiggling up to the edge of the lake, the Giant Squid raised one of his tentacles out of it in a friendly greeting.

As he withdrew his tentacle back to the lake, he accidentally smacked the head of brunette in yellow robes (FireboltAvis88). Oops! At least he hadn't knocked her into the lake with him.

Hm. Someone else already gave the same answer just a little bit before her. No matter, at least she was correct. She wondered if it was safe to lie down on her back.. Just for a little bit.. But before she could she heard a loud *Smack*

Ohh it's the Squid O_O, if Kimalia wasn't so surprised she would've giggled at someone being slapped by a tentacle. She turned her attention however back to the handsome Professors again though just so she didn't miss anything they said... But she definitely had one eye carefully watching for any sign of a tentacle.

Woah....woah....WOAH! Rewind and FREEZE!

Had Professor Scabior just SMILED at her? A real genuine smile that wasn't attached to some sort of sarcasm or spite? As if that wasn't enough, the man then awarded her house points. Was the world coming to an end?

Kurumi was only mildly paying attention as he continued the lesson, but she DID wake up from her surprised state when the Giant Squid showed up and smacked Alyssa over the head.

Kurumi raised her hand and waved at the creature. It was only polite to do so since he had waved first.

Was Professor Scabior just bitter or does he naturally interact with students this way? Last term, he was a bit..well..nice. Sigh. Major changes around the school alright.

They have been discussing the history of the lake, the creatures and things under it and all the important events around it. Yet since it seems that the History of Magic Professor was in a rush, she couldn't even give out her own ideas because as she waits for the answering to reside, the Professor would immediately step in and add more.

Sigh. Sigh.

Okay, so she understood most of it. She hadn't jotted anything from there on because of the fast flow of the discussion but hey, she was able to understand all the given information and comprehended it. The Ravenclaw second year tried all her might to store all the information given inside her head.

Now, on the other hand, the Care of Magical Creatures Professor seem to have a world of his own and looks like has been day dreaming ever since the lesson started. Yet, as she was observing him, she was pretty sure that the Professor was a bit excited about something and she also noticed that his eyes usually went to the lake.

Moving on, Professor Scabior right now seem to be finished with his discussion because he was giving a small look to Professor Williamson which in her opinion meant that it was his turn.

So, she waited. Time to find out what the new Professor has got in store for them. Waiting silently that is, since it wasn't necessary that she talked anyway.

What on Earth…?! Was that…… one of the GIANT SQUID'S TENTACLES?! Sky watched half curiously, half afraid as the tentacle WAVED. And burst out laughing as it knocked into a Puff as going back into the water. She couldn't help herself, it was funny!!! "Shouldn't have been standing so close to the water…" she gasped out between laughs..

This was also Care of Magical Creatures was it not? Eino wondered as he glanced over his schedule. So far there was no indication of it, and every time Eino tried to combine the two subjects he was wrong. He was confused. Instead they were talking about a man and his funeral... And dementerors, which they usually learned how to fend off instead of care for. Maybe Dumbledore was a creature, yes, he had the name for it. A goblin. Harry Potter was also a funny name, maybe an elf back when elves had last names? Undoubtedly! So the elf killed the dementors who killed the goblin, yes? He noted. Then, this Lord Fall de/of Morn (de was obviously "of" in french, duh), who was clearly a merman (because: 1. it was by the lake and 2. no wizard would ever steal a wand) tried to steal the goblin's wand. Okay, that started to make sense, a tale of elves, goblins, and merpeople. How fascinating. If there was a clock anywhere near, Eino would be checking it right now.

Minerva was listening to Scabiors and frowned when he took more points from Hufflepuff. Most professors encouraged students to answer and participate, but I guess he would rather them just listen. She was glad she sat that one out when in the corner of her eye she saw something move and turned towards the movement to see something going back in the lake. She wanted to ask Alyssa if she saw it, but didn't want to get anymore points off so she turned her head back to the professors.

William returned Dash's look with a nod and stepped forward to begin his portion of the lesson, but just as he opened his mouth to speak, he noticed a giant pink tentacle retreating back into the water. Oh! Barty!

"Hello Mr. Henry!" the dark-haired professor called out merrily, turning around to return the squid's wave with one of his own. "Thank you for joining us today!"

He beamed and turned back to the class, adjusting the daisies over his left ear before clasping his hands loosely behind his back. "Now then, this IS also Care of Magical Creatures class, as Mr. Henry has been so kind as to remind us. Professor Scabior has also graciously reminded us all of the historical significance of the Black Lake, but what about its environmental influence? What sort of magical and mundane creature inhabitants might we find living and thriving off the lake?"

Other than their friendly Giant Squid, of course.



OOC NOTE: Last post for us for the night. Class will resume around 3pm EST tomorrow! Feel free to answer the question but PLEASE only name ONE creature per person. You've seen that points loss is always an option for not following directions, so don't disappoint us! =)

Kimalia raised her hand, she had thought about this earlier, "Well, there are Grindylows down there." She looked back at the Lake again still a little surprised to see the Giant Squid staring at them. Er, maybe if she just smiled it won't slap her to death. *Beam*

Minerva put up her hand "Mermaids"

Since merpeople, the giant squid and grindylows had been mentioned just about a million times, which, by the way, made Eino crave some fried grindylow tail, he opted for something less popular. After raising his hand and receiving permission to speak, he proceeded. "There are toads in the lake, too." He should know, he went toad catching for Lafay when her potions storeroom exploded and she lost everything.

Taylor raised her hand, warily this time..... the professor did ask what creatures lived in the lake? yes? "Um grindylows?

Even more turned off of the lesson thanks to Professor Scabior's rude attitude due to their lack of his desired answer August turned to see a large ripple go over the lake and then the dripping of water which, when he turned to see a giant tentacle rose out of the water, smacked a Puff and then waved at them all.

August would have been frightened but it seemed the Professors were ok and nothing was going wrong so the Gryffindor just waved back, a small smile spreading on his lips. This were so weird, yet cool here at Hogwarts.

Ok so now it was Professor I have a Muggle-hating dog Williamson's turn to teach. August thought again about what he had read in his Care of Magical Creatures textbook and then decided to speak up about a creature that would live in the Lake. "Professor, there are many known groups of Grindylows in the Lake."

"A few types of fish?"

Mr. HENRY! Max loved Bartholomew. He had so much respect for the squid. After giving it a wave, he raised his hand once again. "Merpeople," he clarified after another student neglected to include the male population. Mermaids were beautiful, but the guys were important, too!

"Um… merpeople?" Sky guessed. Although why they were called creatures was a mystery to her. They did have the word PEOPLE in their name… That implied (to Sky,at least) that they wanted to be considered people.

Amelia raised her hand enthusiastically. "Merpeople!"

"Professor, there are many Grindylows in the Lake,'' Jory said, his hand raised.
