Its a perfect day for a class outside, and by the lake too! The warm september breeze swept the grounds at the south side of the castle. The location was popular for students who generally liked roaming around outside, but it was not a good place to take notes. Which was probably why Professor Scabior did not look at ease as he stood, holding a quiet conversation with Professor Williamson. The Care of Magical Creatures Professor looked quite fine though, turning away from the conversation to flash a smile at each new student that arrived.
"Just gather around here, and take a seat." Scabior said loudly, pointing to the general grassy area.

Pulling himself out of the water, Scabior quickly shook his head, making drops from his hair fly, before walking over to where the students gathered. "Good job-" He said loudly, sneering and clapping his hands together . "You've managed to save the great Harry Potter....doll, all of you must be.. so proud."
Right...

...and now Sierra was already making mental plans to sneak away in the night and egg this man's office door. They could have been killed! Did Scabs seem to care, though?! Nooo. There went another strike mark on his 'Things that Make Scabior Hot' list.

"The point of this exercise was to (hopefully) stimulate empathy within you all. It was also to familiarize you with the creatures beneath the lake, to allow you an opportunity to see them in their natural habitat, and then for you to experience history firsthand for yourself."
Students seemed to agree that they had certainly experienced empathy for the champions of the Triwizard Tournament, so Williamson nodded to those who had been correct.
"However," he voice took on a sharp, stern tone, "this exercise was also to stir within you empathy for the creatures who have had tricks played on them by wizardkind, for the centaurs and merpeople who are promised things like equal rights and protected lakes and forests, only to have those things most beloved to them whisked away by false promises."
He gave the class a stern look. "I hope you all DID learn a personal lesson," he echoed Kurumi's answer, "and I hope you DON'T take what you have for granted. Because unlike the creatures we studied today, you have lost nothing in this battle to rescue what you saw as yours. You will have no lasting effects from your trip under the lake. But the creatures?" He shook his head. "I cannot say the same for the magical creatures of the world."
His piece said, Williamson offered the class a hard look and nodded briefly to Scabior. If he had anything to add.... now was the time, before they assigned homework.[/color]
Who cared about the equal treatment of creatures?!
Certainly not Sierra. This just reminded her of those things called Muggle beauty pageants, where everybody got on stage and said 'WORLD PEACE' while flashing the audience one of their blinding white smiles.
She didn't really have much to add, though, and so she just casually looked up toward the professors and waited for...something. More class time? Dismissal? Dismissal sounded nice right about now. She was cold, wet, tired, annoyed, and could really use a shower and a nap right about now.

Scabior yawned as he stood behind William, waiting for the man to explain the exact purpose of why the went into the lake. Many of the students seemed upset. Some seemed to understand the point but the majority still looked up at them as if it were the end of the world.
Which of course, it wasn't.
But it still seemed like had scarred some children for life.
Eh.
He shrugged at William, having nothing to add to his explanation. He would leave any questions that the students had for William to answer. "Your homework." He announced flicking his wand allowing words to appear, just to his right, in mid-air.
Homework
Write a story about your doll's life as a merperson in an unusual location? (like a bathtub)
Or
Write a story about your doll's life as a merperson in an unusual time (like the 1994 Triwizard Tournament or when the pirate ship was at Hogwarts)
Extra Credit For Either Choice: Included an illustration of your story.
"You lot are dismissed-oh, and you can keep the dolls if you like." Scabior gave them all a stiff nod, secretly hoping that many of them would not leave the class in tears.

Minerva got up happy to be done with this lesson. She enjoyed it,but her anxiety was full force and she needed to rest. She picked up the cute doll and walked passed the professors. "Thank you for the umm interesting lesson. Have a good day." and with that she headed away from the class.

Taylor wrote down the homework assignment. She was annoyed at the two professors and now she was wet and cold. It was uncomfrotable. She made mental plans on taking a shower, changing into flannel pjs and sitting by the fire reading a good book as soon as they were--- Taylor was pulled out of her mental planning with the actual dismissal. She got up and nodded at the professors not bothering to say bye or thanks for the lesson.

Jezzabelle made a mental not of the homework. Was she supposed to change? Leave the bathing suit for them? Or just go to the castle and dry up and hand it back in whenever she could? She decided she would just place the clothes on over the bathing suit. She looked down at the doll and kicked it as she went to get her clothing, "I'd rather watch it sink to the bottom of the lake than carry it around with me," she mumbled.
Maybe the Merepeople could keep it hostage a little while longer or a Grindylow could rip it to shreds. Either way she wasn't taking it with her. Having dressed over the soaking wet thing she turned on her heel and looked at the professors. No smile to be found on her face. "Bye Professor Scabior. Professor Williamson." She walked away from the class area feeling drained in every aspect.

Amelia shivered as she copied down the homework assignment. She wasn't the best when it came to writing stories, but she would try her best to come up with something creative for this homework.
Even though she was still mad at the professors, she waved bye. "Thanks for the lesson." And then she headed back towards the castle with her doll still in her hand.

Alyssa noted down what the reason for this lesson was for. It did make sense because she did enjoy being underwater in the Black Lake and swimming among the plants and creatures. And the Professor was right. 'Us, humans, have encroached on their territory, stealing what was rightfully theirs and making it our own, until they were forced in live in the current situation they are now.' Alyssa did feel empathy for them now. Picking up her doll, she made it a point from now onwards to remember what the Professor had mentioned in his closing lesson note. Jotting down the homework assignment for this lesson, Alyssa quickly went back behind the changing curtains to change out of her wet suit and back into her dry clothes, and carried her bag, the doll and the wetsuit back to the castle.
Ira was annoyed. very annoyed with the professors! How could they frighten them all so much? No, that wasn't fair! And whatever empathy she had been feeling had all been lost in the feeling of worry! So there went her flop for this whole lesson. She did not agree with both professors.
But how could she argue with them? Instead, all she did was sulk and grumpily took down her homework. And what to do with the doll? Ira didn't want that. She left it right there and went back to the castle without bothering to say bye or anything. No, they would not receive thanks for all this!

Hmm?
Well she could probably some how forgive him if he said they really didn't need to do that!!!! She sighed heavily and wrote it down on her CoMC and HoM notebooks...
''Thank you proffeser...s,'' She said it after every lesson believing she had to although she did watch many students didn't! Out of it all she enjoyed the lesson and if the students thought otherwise, she didn't care... But she really didn't want the whole collide thing again
Aurora stood up, still red eyed, holding her doll in one hand and scowling at the floor. "Bye Professors." she muttered. Then she turned and made her way back up to the castle, intending to get rid of the doll in some sort of nasty way - it might make her feel better.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Daichi listened as Professor Scabior said the homework and scribbled it down on a piece of parchment in a quick handwriting. He then placed his stuff in the school bag before hoisting it over his shoulder. "Bye Professors" he said trying not to snap at them and luckily he could control himself and walked back to the castle.

Jory decided to keep the doll. Why? He didn't know. Maybe Grace would like it. He wrote down the home-work and gathered up his stuff. "Bye, Professors,'' he said trying to keep his tone even. He headed back to the Castle, to his Common Room.

Ella pulled out her quill and some parchment and wrote down her homework. She tried to shake off the anger she was feeling as she walked by the professors. Come on El, they wouldn't have done it if you weren't going to learn something. She mustered up her best smile and looked at the professors. "Bye! Thanks for the, um- great lesson." She hoped she sounded sincere.

Once the professors had given them their homework, Lily hastily wrote it down in her notebook. She was a little less mad at her professors, but still wanted to get out of the class to let off some steam. So once class was dismissed, she got up and headed off, back to the castle to dry off, change, and warm up. Maybe sitting by the common room fire with a book would be nice. She thought as she left the class.

Vlimia wrote down the homework, and stared at the Harry Potter doll. It kind of freaked her out... like a voodoo doll or something. Dolls had always scared Vlimia. Odd. Deciding she didn't want to keep it, Vlim scribbled down the homework. The lake was kind of weird... it was kind of creepy what the proffesors had done. Oh well. Vlimia looked at the proffesors and gave them a weak smile, then rushed off. She did not want to spend any more time near that Harry Potter voodoo.

William nodded to the many students who were saying their goodbyes and getting ready to leave, noting that many of them were still upset with him and Dash. Well that was a disappointment. So much for a successful first lesson....
At least it had been memorable?

"Professor, will the relationship between wizards and magical creatures ever get better? And if so, how much has this relationship improved over the years?. He turned then to the student asking about wizard-creature relations. "It's really up to you and your peers, since you are the future of the wizarding world, as to whether or not relations will get better." Williamson shrugged at her second question. "I would recommend doing some research about that on your own time." There were far too many examples for him to waste any more time explaining.
Plus he wanted to go take care of his lobalug, which was sitting in a bucket off to the side. Hmm. Maybe he'd just.... skedaddle over that way now.... yep. Class was over. Time to move on to other things.

Sierra stood there, doll in hand and displeased look still on her face, as the professor magick'ed the homework into the air. Of course she had to use this blasted Potter doll for her assignment. She frowned at it, wishing now she'd left it all tied up, and then gathered everything that belonged to her. Should she take the doll? Leave it? Decisions, decisions, but in the end, she decided to take it with her in case she needed any inspiration and motivation for the homework.
Then with the doll dangling at her side, she turned on her heels and made way out the area.
