Its a perfect day for a class outside, and by the lake too! The warm september breeze swept the grounds at the south side of the castle. The location was popular for students who generally liked roaming around outside, but it was not a good place to take notes. Which was probably why Professor Scabior did not look at ease as he stood, holding a quiet conversation with Professor Williamson. The Care of Magical Creatures Professor looked quite fine though, turning away from the conversation to flash a smile at each new student that arrived.
"Just gather around here, and take a seat." Scabior said loudly, pointing to the general grassy area.
OOC: Class hasn't started yet, so feel free to join in! Just please, keep chatting to a minimum. Also, if you haven't already, please make sure to read the Care of Magical Creatures Rules AND the History of Magic Rules CLASS HAS STARTED! Do not post your character late. Doing so will result in loss of points. If you want to join just act as if your character was there the whole time!

Finally reaching the shoreline, Sky pushed her mother onto the dry ground, then flopped down onto the ground herself to completely catch her breath. Seriously, whichever professor had come up with that idea needed their head examined.

Pulling himself out of the water, Scabior quickly shook his head, making drops from his hair fly, before walking over to where the students gathered. "Good job-" He said loudly, sneering and clapping his hands together . "You've managed to save the great Harry Potter....doll, all of you must be.. so proud."
Upon hearing Professor Scabior's voice sarcastically congratulating them on rescuing [a doll[/I], Sky looked around to where she had pushed 'her mom's ashore. Indeed there was the Harry Potter doll lying right were her mother had been. Ooo… That.
Wasn't. Cool. Instead of taking it out on the doll, however, (it was kinda cute after all) she picked it up and carried it over to where her classmates where gathered.
SPOILER!!: Professor Williamson

And hopefully the students that had still been down there when he left had surfaced by now.
"So...." to go back to his question, "Why do you think we sent you down to the bottom of the lake in a modified re-enactment of the 1994 Triwizard Tournament? What sort of.... affective objective do you think we were trying to accomplish here?"
The first question was basically the second only reworded for the younger kids. Heh. See what a good teacher he was? Totally not an evil dark wizard hellbent on drowning the population of Hogwarts. Totally not.
Sky raised an eyebrow at that question. There had been an objective other than torturing them? She couldn't think of any lesson that could have been learned from that. Well, there was one, but Sky was afraid it would sound silly. She decided to voice it anyway.
"Sir, was it to teach us that not everything is as it seems?" she said. Well, it kind of made sense, you know, with the whole doll thing and all.

Laura was suddenly on shore which was good, she raised her hand. "Professor was it because you wanted us to go crazy worring about our loved ones." Because seriously that was what Laura thought it was for.
Aurora was in floods of tears and ready to yell at her brother when she looked down and noticed...
A DOLL?!
Not. Funny. Aurora had been crying for Merlin's sake. Now she thought about it it was unlikely that Krys would even come back to the castle, let alone find his way to the bottom of the lake but he was always getting himself into trouble. And the stupid Professors had made her think her brother was in trouble. Sure, he was in trouble, but at least the trouble he was in wasn't FATAL! It didn't help that she knew the person at the bottom of the lake would have been Katja if she hadn't... yeah. She couldn't bring herself to answer the question, she sat at the back of the class, her eyes red and her head resting on her knees. She didn't care what the lesson was. This was cruel. Heartless. And Wrong.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
The moment Daichi was safe at land he dropped down on the grass and hugged the ground. "Dad.. we made it!" he said as he looked to his right only to find that his father was missing. O_o Had he fallen in to the water again?! Daichi looked around only to let his eyes fall upon the harry potter doll in disbelieve.
Had he just RISKED his LIFE for a DOLL?! His mouth dropped as he heard the Professor's talking and questioned why they had relived the task set in 1994. He didn't care about giving a logical answer like the rest. Daichi was already scared of the lake for he had almost drowned in it last year, then he was more less forced to dive in using gillyweed but still... and then he had to rescue his father and pray he would reach the surface on time..and to top that off he did this all for a DOLL?!
"Because you two are crazy?" he suggested as he balled his fists.

Thea literally, collapsed onto the grass next to her classmates. Still panting slightly, she turned to her brother ..who had gone.
Instead, there was a doll. And the doll looked familiar. Without saying a word, the third year picked up her doll and just looked at it. 'So we could experience this ourselves.. and maybe not take the stuff we have for granted?' Thea brushed the water that was running down her face away, and styill, just looked at her doll.
1994. They had just taken part in one of the Triwizard Tournament tasks.. really. Sort of? Whatever.
Scowling, she threw her doll away from her. 'And as Daichi has just said, maybe because you two are clearly out of you minds!?' Thea lay down, face down on the grass. She couldn't work out if this was funny, or just bit embarrassing.
The effects of the Gillyweed had worn off when he was still under the water. Breaking through the surface he drew in some deep breathes before swimming over to the edge.
Scabior blamed the children who had taken forever to collect their so called hostages. Instead of going 'wow, they collected someone that I love, I better bring them to the top', they acted like 'wow, they collected someone the I love, let me stare at them in shock like a moron'.

"Good job-" He said loudly, sneering and clapping his hands together . "You've managed to save the great Harry Potter....doll, all of you must be.. so proud."
Jezzabelle stared at Professor Scabior, afraid to open her mouth to say anything. She gripped the leg of the doll even tighter. What she wouldn't give to wipe that sneer off his face. She gripped the doll even tighter. Only to remain out of detention, she remained silent. That was until Professor Williamson came ashore...

Aren't exactly.... pleased with us right now.... Talk about an understatement. If looks could kill, Jezzabelle's would. Then there was a question. One she wanted to answer but could she do it politely enough to not lose any house points. She raised her hand that was holding the stupid doll upside down, "I think the objective was to have us actually experience the great joys of Hogwarts History. What better way to learn something than to actually experience it yourself. Would you agree Professor Scabior?" She turned to stare at the other Professor. She had let her anger over take the upset feeling ever so slightly. She closed her mouth before anything else could come out of it and dropped her hand.

Oh Scabior... obviously really what would you expect from a class with two Slytherin proffesers hm? Lollypops and kisses? HA! But still it had no reason to play a nasty trick on all of his former students... well they would all be former students of his after this lesson that was for sure, she just looked back at him as if he was mad in the head... It was all WRONG!!

Williamson explained it better way better... It was understood instead of some.. sarcastic joke and a smirk! But still he did realise it didn't make a difference right? She was angry all the same, her hand went up anyways
''Possibly, to familiarize, us students with the creatures underneath, rather than above, like grindylows, mermaids and the giant squid of course. For the Magical History part of the lesson it was a re-make of the tri wizard tournement, like the amotions they were experiancing like stress and conffusion and also the pressure they were under to get to the top safely with their loved one!,''
Her hand went down again slowly, unsure why she answered, she didn't want the two proffesers to think that they should suddenly collide more often and do more life threatening classes if anything she wanted it banned, that was NOT safe, tricking students and making them belive their loved one was truely a hostage! It was the worst feeling in the world! But admittidly she enjoyed some of it, but that bit had to keep to herself
Nathan had just been in the depths of the lake and sawhis mother floating there in a petrified state with his own two eyes and was in shock. What the heck! He had quickly swam toward her and used diffindo on the sea wide binding her to the sea. He then got her to the surface and saw a harry potter doll on top of the water. His anger rose, this was not funny to him at all. He thrashed at the water and slowly calmed down. He knew they must have done this to everyone and they were just nonchalant about it, errrrrr. And now one asks the question of why, hmmm, "Bloody hell, that was horrible. You both scared the living daylights out of me. That
is not justifiable by any means. I, I, you just don't do that to people. I know it was does done many years ago but it was not right then and it is not now, fake or not
!!!", Nathan responded trying to keep his cool but after what he had just been through he was content he had the will power to not hit these professors silly. Though he knew if he tried he would be stopped and easilly and detention would be in his future. If this was for a class he could not imagine what detention with those two would be like, ahhh.

Don't disregard your doll just yet as you grumpily make your way back to the class area. The task isn't quite over.
Minerva fell to the shore exhausted when she finally got out of the lake. Air burned in her lungs as she started to breath again. "Mom, mom how did you..." she looked at the doll where her mom should have been. "Wait, what?" First anger boiled up after everything that had happened to her and then she shook her head with relief that her mother was safely still in hiding with the rest of her family. She sat up and picked up the doll, "Cute doll" she said quietly and forced herself to her feet walking slowly to join the rest of the group that had already made it out of the water.

Minerva just looked at Professor Scabior breathing hard still from exhaustion. Really he was being sarcastic. She took her hair over her shoulder and began squeezing water out of it. Looking at the doll she smiled it was kind of fun no matter whether they tricked the students or not. She did get her wish in wanting to swim with the squid even if it wasn't really swimming with him.

Minerva put her hair back over her shoulder after getting enough water out of it and placed the doll in her lap. Putting up her hand "Professor with teaching us the spell before to help protect us in the lake you were teaching us defense against a magic creature so that part of the lesson could have been for the care of magical creatures. Going into the lake and saving what we thought were are loved ones, but in reality was these cute little dolls was to show us a historical event and have us learn that event hands on. Which will have us remember it better then just talking to us and having us read." Minerva had heard her mom talk about hands on learning many times in the muggle classroom that she taught.
After catching her breath, Gwendolyn turned her head to see if her mom was all right. ‘What?’, she couldn’t help saying as she noticed the Harry Potter doll beside her. THIS.IS.SUCH.A.SLAP.IN.THE.FACE!!!! Grrr…
With her hands still shaking, the third year joined the group of students that came out of the lake. It was a terrible but exciting experience, the doll would be cuter if we had received it another time. Not after we worked hard to rescue actual people! Not to mention risking our lives for them!!!, Gwen dramatized and looked back at the Professors.
Why would they do this again? Because Professors were tired of hearing some students among which she was too say they would have loved to participate in the Triwizard Tournament and that they would have done some remarkable things back then. Was that it? Was it just to prove them wrong??? Errr…
‘To see how difficult it was for the ones who participated in the tournament? To see for ourselves what they had to go through…?’, she tried guessing. But they did it with a purpose! They didn’t get a doll at the end.

When Lily breached the surface and made it to dry land, she turned to find that her brother was now a Harry Potter doll... Lily was furious now. She had just expended a ton of energy trying to save her brother but instead was only saving a doll! That was soo cruel and mean and uncalled for... She thought as the CoMC professor asked why they would have done that. Thinking to herself, Why would you have done that... because you are psycho. why else? Lily however raised her hand before answering, "Because you wanted us to experience one task of the triwizard tournament for ourselves and see what Harry Potter went through." Lily put her hand down and folded her arms, furiously eyeballing the professors, one of which obviously thought that it was comical to put them through this.

Really, why was Professor Scabior patronizing them with fake praises when he knew how horrible he and Professor Williamson had made them feel. What if he saw his little sister, mother, or SON stuck down their in the water?
Oh well. August dropped the doll on the ground, and tried to stand comfortably in his wet swimsuit while turning his attention to the Care of Magical Creatures Professor as he began to try and rationalize a reason for what they had just done. "Professor, perhaps you made us do that so we would be able to act in a critical situation, with a time limit, in order to allow some emotion help push us forward?"
Melanie held the doll in her shaking hands, fury coursing through her veins. Professor Scabior had the nerve to patronize them after what they had gone through. He didn't know what it felt like. That was her step-father! Her step-father that had been taking care of her pregnant, sick mother. Did they have any idea the horrible things that had gone through her mind? And she was sure a lot of other students had gone through much worse.
Considering the fact that she was still so furious she thought her fingernails might bore holes in the innocent doll, Melanie thought it was best not to offer an answer. She couldn't think of any good reason why professors would do something like that. They should be arrested.
Nate saw that it was just a doll. Just a doll! Just a flipping doll! He was worried sick for merlins sake! He wanted to punch somebody so bad. The fury and anger was running through his veins. His heart was pounding. He was just so mad. He just was like a volcano waiting to erupt. He was like a ticking time bomb about to explode with anger and fury and rage! He was mad.
Desiree finally reached the surface, gasping for air. Her gillyweed had started to wear off, she could feel her webbed hands and feet disappearing. But she wasn't there yet, she pulled Liliana along till she finally reach the shore throwing both her and her sister down onto the land. "It's ok, we're ok sis." She said still breathing heavily.

Her sister didn't say anything, she looked over to her to see if she was still passed out.....
WHERE DID SHE GO!?
She picked up the thing in her place, a harry potter doll. As she stared at the doll in disbelief she heard Professor Scabior and got this insane urge to chuck it at his head. This was sooo wrong, she thought she was saving her sister! Desiree didn't know whether she wanted to cry or start yelling.. But she was good at controlling herself, so instead she just shot daggers with her eyes.

She felt a little better when Professor Williamson started talking, at least he explained it better, and more delicately. Maybe it was better that it wasn't really her sister? She should probably be relieved that they hadn't actually dragged Liliana under the lake.. She just felt hurt, because they were tricked, and that was NOT cool.
And apparently there was a lesson behind all this, a reason for the madness. Des didn't really think there was, but she raised her hand anyway trying to soften her look, at least a little, "By going all the way to the bottom of the lake we were able to see all the creatures in their natural environment, even the merpeople, and by saving our loved ones.." pause "we were reenacting history, performing the same task as the Triwizard Champions had to." she continued, "I guess it's also kind of.. creative, how we were saving Harry Potter, since he had been the one to save two people in the challenge. So instead of him doing the saving, we are, and it's showing us that we can accomplish the same thing he had." she finished smugly. she wanted to say cruel instead of creative, but whatever. They didn't even deserve that answer, let alone a long one. They were the ones who needed to do some explaining.
I mean she hadn't seen her sister in years! And then she practically risks her life for her, and when she finally gets to see her, it was a doll! A DOLL! She may have listed all the reasons for this task, but she didn't think anything could justify this. Looking at the doll in her hands she threw it to the side.
Taylor was in a bad mood..... though she tried not showing it. She wasn't too happy that the professors pulled that mean prank on them even if it was for learning proposes. Taylor didnt feel like answering any more questions in this class today.

She was cold so to speak.

Or so that was what she thought. Maybe they had made the Task for the Tournament to just be mean and screw with people.

She had let her anger over take the upset feeling ever so slightly. She closed her mouth before anything else could come out of it and dropped her hand.

"Right.... well, most of you have sort of gotten it." Williamson sighed a little as others still seemed angry.
"The point of this exercise was to (hopefully) stimulate empathy within you all. It was also to familiarize you with the creatures beneath the lake, to allow you an opportunity to see them in their natural habitat, and then for you to experience history firsthand for yourself."
Students seemed to agree that they had certainly experienced empathy for the champions of the Triwizard Tournament, so Williamson nodded to those who had been correct.
"However," he voice took on a sharp, stern tone, "this exercise was also to stir within you empathy for the creatures who have had tricks played on them by wizardkind, for the centaurs and merpeople who are promised things like equal rights and protected lakes and forests, only to have those things most beloved to them whisked away by false promises."
He gave the class a stern look. "I hope you all DID learn a personal lesson," he echoed Kurumi's answer, "and I hope you DON'T take what you have for granted. Because unlike the creatures we studied today, you have lost nothing in this battle to rescue what you saw as yours. You will have no lasting effects from your trip under the lake. But the creatures?" He shook his head. "I cannot say the same for the magical creatures of the world."
His piece said, Williamson offered the class a hard look and nodded briefly to Scabior. If he had anything to add.... now was the time, before they assigned homework.

Taylor nodded at one of the professors' explanation. She hoped that the poor creatures will be ok. Her mind wondered slightly to the creatures but then back to her teachers waiting for the homework assignment.

Well yeah kinda what she said and a bit more really.. She wasn't as upset anymore she was softened by his explaination for the whole Lake drama, atleast she had a good time, before hand but the swimsuits the dummy and all the creatures down there, were unforgettable!!!

Ella was about to cry. She could feel the tears welling up in her eyes and she felt so...angry. For a short horrible time she had thought that her dad was dead or something and though she understood what the Professors were trying to teach her, it seemed so...cruel. She wiped furiously at her eyes, not wanting to betray how upset she was. She was here to learn and she had learned a valuable lesson: be ready for anything.

Some great trick to play on her. Jezzabelle dropped the doll and crossed her arms. And all this talk about not taking what she had for granted. All she really had was her friends that she had made while here. She'd never take them for granted. However, the one person she wanted more than anyone in the world though, wasn't there and could never be there again. Oh, and lets just add a cherry on top of this. NO LASTING EFFECTS!? Yeah, whatever. She stood there waiting for the chance to just walk away. For class to be dismissed. For her to get some time away from all this. And no, she didn't want the doll, they could keep it.

Amelia nodded at what Professor Williamson said, agreeing that it was unfair for a lot of the magical creatures, and she did feel bad for them. She just didn't really like the ones like the Grindylows even though she wouldn't hurt one unless it attacked her.
She loved all of nature's animals besides Beast who she still wanted to hit with a plastic lightsabre.
They hadn't suffered seriously Laura wouldn't have been suprised if someone told her she was going grey because well she had a feeling she'd lost about 10 years of growth and beauty down there when she was thought they had taken her love one. "I'm sure Professor that some of us suffered down there." Laura sighed, seriously she would need therapy when all this was over.

Violet was sort of upset that she had pulled up a doll out of the lake, but she was expecting it. How would the professors have a hold on their loved ones anyways? And yes she agreed that the creatures under the water were always treated unfairly from the start of wizard civilizations. "Professor, will the relationship between wizards and magical creatures ever get better? And if so, how much has this relationship improved over the years?. Violet thought it was a sensible question to ask after learning about this personal lesson
Eino opened his mouth to speak, but let out a sigh instead. Empathy? Eino had empathy, which is why he didn't want to hurt the creatures but learn to care for them instead. Eino wasn't exactly sure what the merpeople and centaurs had lost to wizardkind, but apparently it had been a lot. The boy tucked his cold hands under his shirt and rested them on top of his belly as the man continued. Eino had only learned one thing from this lesson, and that was that he needed to learn mermish so that he could ask the merpeople how the domesticate grindylows. Clearly he wasn't going to learn that from "professor" Williamson. He was barbaric and utterly nonsensical, and did not deserve to be referred by such title. Especially when the same title was shared by great people like Professor Bentley, who treated her plants with utmost care and gentleness, and Professor Saylen, who would hex anyone who dared attack a creature. What next, they were going to learn Dark Arts in Defense Against the Dark Arts? That would actually be quite pleasant, since Eino could make use of a few more jinxes. But the point was, Eino would have to spend additional time teaching himself what he was supposed to be taught by this person who was clearly picked up at the corner of Knockturn Alley to teach.
