The surface of the lake ripples serenely in the warm September sunlight, but its docile appearance is a thinly veiled disguise for the complex and icy cold waters down below.
Keep your wand at the ready and one eye trained for any approaching grindylows! Don't forget to swim deep, swim hard, and keep sight of your professors in your search of what has been taken from you.... for your destination is still a good swim away.

Okay, this was getting creepier now. She was having a harder time than ever seeing her surroundings, and it took a lot in her to just make out the outline of the student swimming in front of her.

Was it just her eye sight or was the waters and everything around them looked quite a bit darker than it had been a while ago. Sure, they were swimming deeper but did that really mean light would be alleviated? What if there was a grindylow and they won't be able to spot it? It was worst for her, if she wouldn't be able to see it and if it suddenly appears before her eyes then she might just not remember the spell against it.
It was Relashio Beezus, Relashio..okay? A voice kept creeping into her mind. Suddenly Beezus felt a cold rush beside her and as she turned to face it..
Brabal..blawalabral..
...sounded the bubbles that was coming raggedly from her mouth. So that's what comes out when you gasp underwater.
But then..no worries, it was obviously not a grindylow. It was just a fellow Ravenclaw. She turned to face the girl, gave her an apologizing smile and a peace sign then swam over to where the Professors were.

As Alyssa continued to descend deeper into the lake, she discovered that it was getting harder for her to see in front of her. She turned around to make sure that Professor Williamson was still swimming behind her, but it was so dark now that it was hard for her to see whether it was actually him and not someone else. Alyssa closed her eyes and then opened them again, to allow them to focus better in the dark, but she still wasn't sure whether it was Professor Williamson or not. It swam like a human being, but Alyssa couldn't be sure.
Quentin squinted ahead, or she tried to. It was getting harder and harder to see the further they went. She could hardly see Scabior anymore, or the group. She instinctively swam away as something brushed her thigh, a stream of bubbles came out as she tried to yelp in fright. Was that another student or something else?
Okay, okay, it's Relashio, Re-le-sh-io, she thought to herself in a panic.
After a few short seconds she caught her breath again, great. now she'd lost what little sight of the group she had. Wait- looking back she could see Professor Williamson, meaning the group should be to her right, she swam and took up her position on the edge again.

Zhenya just kept swimming... just keep swimming... just keep swimming, she thought over and over again. Shadows kept darting past her, or stopping next to her, but every time she tried to look if something was there... there was nothing! She was starting to get more frightened... It was silly - she had her wand, she knew the incantation, and she could see class mates all around her, as well as the Professors. She tried calming herself down when she felt something in her hair, and she started kicking and and wriggling all through the water - like a fish out of water! What was going on?

Laura looked at the Professor, well where she thought the Professor would be but she couldn't seem him, she had no idea where the Professor was so she decided that she had better remember the spell, now what was it, oh yeah. "Relashio." Hopefully she would remember that if a Grindylow attacked.

While trying to keep up with Professor Scabior, Lewis' eyes darted around in search for the Grindylow they'd spotted earlier. Somehow it had just disappeared. Or at least he couldn't see it anymore. Well, he couldn't really see anything anymore. And right now he wasn't sure which was more discomforting.
Shivering involuntarily, Lewis just gulped once and tightened his grip on his wand. Just keep calm. Everything was going to be fine. Everything was going to be fine. Everything was going to be fi-
WHATWASTHAT?!
His head jerked around, when some movement somewhere to his right caught his attention. Squinting against the darkness, Lewis tried to make out what it was. But couldn't. Should he just assume it was another student or send a Relashio spell in its direction? Just in case, you know. But then again what IF it was only a student. And IF it was a Grindylow Relashio would probably only upset it and not do any good.

Jory's eyes had adjusted a bit to the dark. Suddenly, he felt something grab him. At first he thought it was a Grindylow about to attack but then he realised this hand was that of a human. "Its only a student !'' he thought relieved.
He continued following the group keeping a look out for the Grindylow and repeating the spell in his head.

The water got deeper and murkier, but Vlimia hardly noticed. It was just a little worse than when she was diving for Treasure Chests in the Fandango. And now she had no real reason to be under the waters except because the proffesors told them to. Oh well, it was pretty exhilarating. She couldn't see much, so she put her hands in front of her at all times, just in case there was a boulder or wreckage she was going to walk into.

It still felt weird...the gills and the breathing underwater thing. Like it was unnatural somehow...well, because technically it was. faster, making sure to stay close as the class swam deeper into the lake.
Oh merlin, merlin, merlin...
If she hadn't been using her hand to sort of part the water in front of her, she would have been clenching her hands into fists over and over again..She was sure of it.
Her eyes flitted around, wary of her surroundings, every single shape looked liked some sea monster to her. Oh...dear Merlin. She was going to die of a heart attack or something.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Daichi had already disliked going in to the water, and now that they dove even deeper he felt that his wand would snap any moment from his firm grip on it. Glancing around, hoping not to get eye contact with those creatures , he saw the class diving deeper in to the lake. The deeper he dove, how darker it became and soon he couldn't even see his own hand.
In his mind, Daichi panicked but tried to keep his cool on the outside. If he just followed the others and stayed close there would be no problem...right? Yeah.. he couldn't even SEE the person swimming in front of him. The Slytherin got a nausiating feeling in his stomach as he kicked his legs to keep up.

Violet squinted in the dark as light began to fade away from her eyes. She felt a swish beside her. "Who's there?" but of course only bubbles emerged from her mouth. She started to panic in fright. Was that just a Grindylow passing her by or another classmate? Violet took her wand out of her pocket at the ready and kicked her legs are harder to swim faster and hope to see someone she knew.

Ella was still swimming behind Professor Scabior as she noted that the lake was becoming much...darker. It was an odd feeling, being completely out of your element, and now she could add the feeling of not being able to see around her to the mix. This is scary. I need to keep my guard up and stay with the group...that is if I can continue to see the group. Ella felt a sudden movement beside her and her heart began to race. She squinted and could make out a figure but wasn't sure whether it was friend or foe. To be safe she began to swim a little faster. "Oooof." She had swam right into the person...person or grindlow!?...in front of her. "Sorry!"

What started as a fun lesson was rapidly transforming in Ariadne's biggest fear. She couldn't understand what they were doing in the depths of the Black Lake, and now that it was darker and darker, the girl felt more and more scared, hoping that whatever swam around her were just classmates and not water creatures. How long had they been swimming anyway? The effects of that disgusting plant only last for an hour, and at least to Ari it seemed as if they had dived in hours ago.
As the students swam deeper and deeper into the lake, they started to approach Bartholomew Henry's area of living. He came out just as the lake grew took dark to see much of anything and whipped a tentacle around in front of the leader of the pack. Everett.

As everyone was swimming deeper in the lake, Gwendolyn turned her head for a second, just to try see if there were Grindylows nearby…but she couldn’t spot anything. It was too dark -perhaps some creatures were following them and they didn’t even know. Gulp.Just calm down... everything will be fine, the third year thought and held her wand tightly.
She then quickly turned around and followed the group. Although she couldn’t see much what was going on, Gwen managed to recognize the giant squid. Huh? Not far away from what?!, the girl thought and looked puzzled around. They were actually searching for something?! What did I miss? O______________o

Minerva was swimming cautiously with the class, well hoping it was the class when she saw something wave. She was ready in case it wasn't a friend, but then she heard the voice. Oh the squid she said happy. Minerva waved as she smiled excited to be near the squid again.

If they hadn't been underwater, Ella's scream would have been heard miles away. Mr. Henry had scared her and she gulped down some serious water in reaction to his greeting. She was betting Professor Scabior wasn't going to be pleased about the startling greeting either and was glad the water was too dark to see his face. She waved sheepishly at the giant squid. At least his appearance had put her a little more at ease. She hoped that he would at least warn them if anything menacing was headed their way as they continued swimming.

Laura was shocked when someone or something said they weren't too far away now, seriously since when could they talk underwater, she couldn't well she'd have to hope this voice was from a friendly creature, because Laura had no idea what she wasn't suppost to be too far away from was.
Out of the mysterious depths of the lake came a small, horned water demon. It hovered out of wand range of the group of humans but remained within sight as it leered at them and bared its sharp, green teeth.
The demon wiggled its long fingers at a few of the girls and continued floating just out of range, intent on watching the humans.

The water was COLD!
Auggie had sprouted gills and grew webbing inbetween his fingers and toes but that didn't really help how cold the water was. He had been trying his best to stay towards the middle of the group of swimming students when he sort strayed to the side. He turned to his right and saw, in the distance a pair of eyes looking at them from the murky water.
A Grindylow was there. Auggie's heart rate rose and he quickly swam back to the center of the odd school of fish-like group of kids.

Not that he would have ever been glad to see a Giant Squid coming closer to them as they swam in a giant lake, he was sure happy to see Mr. Henry this time. He had proven very nice back when they were on land and with him around, August doubted the Grindylow would risk an attack.

What in the world were they going to do way down here. Lily didn't mind the dark. But being underwater and in the dark kinda creeped her out. Luckily Lily could hear some noise up ahead that sounded kinda like that of the squid. She kept swimming though because that was what everyone else around was doing and it was all that Lily could do to see what the others were doing and to make sure that she didn't wander to far away or drop behind everyone.

Hearing voices in a deep, dark, and cold lake, with less than an hour to return to the surface was not exactly a good sign. Needless to say, when Eino heard Sir Bartholomew Henry's greeting he startled, figuring that he was probably going crazy by now. However, as the giant squid continued to speak, Eino was relieved to have been able to recognize his voice. He had never been so happy to hear a giant squid speak. Eino continued to kick his legs, still mindful that there was something following him. Hopefully their destination would be well lit so Eino could identify the source of his inquietude.

Taylor was glad and happy to hear Mr. Henry's voice. She knew that he was nice and kind so it took away some of the fright that was growing. Taylor was confused with what he said though, and wondered:Not too far away from what, exactly?
