The Broomshed is a place where the Hogwarts school brooms are stored when not being used by students participating in Flying Class or Quidditch. The shed is located one hundred yards from the Quidditch Pitch and appears to be on the verge of collapse to the untrained eye. Carefully open the door that miraculously hangs on rusted hinges and inside you'll find the broomsticks hanging from the ceiling, glass cauldrons and leaning up against the walls. Select your broomstick with care before heading out to class and return it to it's resting place when class is over. At the center of the room is a large wooden table surrounded by benches - take care not to get any splinters if you decide to take a seat while tuning up your broom!
Basic Broomshed Rules: 1. RP your character getting a broom for class/returning a broom/caring for a broom, etc. Please be aware that there are no Firebolts in the shed nor can you find the 'old' Quidditch Equipment Trunk in this shed. 2. Broomsticks in here are for flying practice, Flying Class, and Quidditch uses only. If your character sneaks in to take a broom for a flight by the lake or on other areas of school grounds, expect a loss of House Points and/or Detention. This rule also applies to playing with Quidditch equipment on school grounds or in the Castle itself. Remember - Quidditch and Flying only happens in the Practice Pitch thread and/or Flying Lesson threads. 3. The Broomshed is not a place for public displays of affection (PDA) - violators will lose House Points and gain a date in the Dungeons (aka, Detention). 4. Observe SS Board Rules at all times. 5. Have fun!

After Oakey finished smiling at himself for some time. Vindictus gave the order to clean up. Taking his red rags over to the bin by Vindictus Oakey placed them in and went back to the table.
He inspected his area to see if any polish had hit the floor when he spilled it. He looked under the table and it all seemed fine, most of the polish had gotten on Oakey's work robe. He placed everything back into the kit and closed it taking the kit in one hand and his clean broom in the other he returned them both to their rightful spots. Before he left the shed he turned to Vindictus. Very interesting....Uhh what would you call what they did today? Manual Labor... Class today Professor. Have a good rest of the day.

Gideon gradually had made his way around the entire broom handle, carefully and thoroughly buffing the wax he had thoughtfully rubbed onto the wooden surface. Now it was time for the second application, the Gryffindor putting down the buffing rag in favor of the waxing rag. He then reopened the wax tin, screwing it closed after he had gotten his gob of wax before going to work on heating and softening the wax within his palm and fingers.
Once it was softer, Gideon started rubbing it into the handle once more, polishing it completely as he turned the broom in incriments to it was all covered. Another 5 minute wait was in the cards so he carefully set it down and waited for the time to pass. Then it was back to work, the 5th year exchanging rags again so he was buffing with the one from before.

Once Minerva had waited five minutes again she took the towel and buffed out the second coat of polish. She new it was clean because she could see her reflection. She put the polish away and the towel and went back over to her clean broom. Rechecking her list she knew she did all the steps finally.
When the Professor said that now its time to clean their work station, Messer quickly cleaned up his. He put all of the broom care kit he used earlier and made sure that he didn't miss any care kits. Now that his broom care kit was packed, he put it back in the rag bin to Professor Vindictus' left and the broom on the rack next to the door. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor. Good day!" the young badger said before he left the room.

Okay, so all she really needed to do was polish her broom's handle one more time, and she was done. Good. She was ready to head back to the common room and pretty much do nothing the rest of the evening. Again, she unscrewed the lid of the polish then dipped her red rag inside. She came up with a knut-sized amount of the glob then screwed the lid back on the jar.
She then spent another two minutes working the polish into the rag. By now, the polish should definitely be worked into the rag, so Sierra began rubbing the polish onto the handle once again. When the second coat was fully on, Sierra reached for a clean towel then gently buffed the dried polish into small, circular patterns. When all was done, she glanced carefully at the handle, noting that it was shining just as Professor Vindictus had said it would.
Seeing that she was now finished, Sierra thoroughly cleaned the area she'd worked in. She repacked the broom care kit then returned it to the stack. She tossed her polishing rag into the rag bin then placed her broom on the rack next to the door. Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she gave Vindictus a parting glance then headed off.

Monica began to feel dizzy as the fumes got to her head. She made sure that all of her rags had been put away and all items from the kit had been put back in place. She returned broom to the rack and grabbed her books. "Bye Professor," she said as she exited the shed.

She had finished polishing the handle, so she placed it carefully back on the table and cleaned up her polishing area and wrote the rest of the steps into her parchment.
After a few minutes she grabbed a clean rag and began doing the same thing she was doing with the polishing cloth. She was buffing the polish out of the handle, using small circular motions. It took so long, maybe she had used too much polish. Every time she pulled the rag away to see how she was doing, it looked smudged and almost like it was spreading further around her broom, which isn't what she wanted. She wanted it to come off and show her broom as a shiny handle.

When he finished the buffing this time around, Gideon had to admit that the handle really shined. Well that was the intention of polish was it not? Or else it would simply be kept raw or sealed wood with nothing else added to it. He figured seeing as he was satisfied with the results of his work and elbow grease that meant he could clean up, the boy having heard the instructions to do so while he had finished up his rubbing. So he got up and grabbed his belongings as well as what he had borrowed.
Repacked kit...check.
Kit back on stack...check
Polishing rags to bin to the left...check
Broom back on rack...check.
Guess he was done after doing all he should and mentally checking off the list. "Bye Professor," he said then, turning briefly to the man in question. "Good day then...good class," Gideon added before turning back towards the door and leaving as dismissed.

Finished with the broom polishing, Jory began to clean up. He stuffed the polish back into the kit, feeling a bit sick from inhaling the odor. He took up the kit and rags and put then in the stack and bin respectively.
Carefully, he picked up the broomstick and examined it one last time. Jory was rather pleased with his work. Not bad for someone who never polished anything. He placed it on the rack next to the door.
"Bye, Professor,'' he told Professor Vindictus "Great lesson.''

Elise shook her arm, which happened to be cramping after holding out the rag for so long... Shaking her head as if to clear her mind, Elise started by pressing the rag to the handle and working downwards in circular motions. Making sure they overlapped, of course! Once the entire handle was done, Elise moved her grip lower on the broom's shaft.
Moving the rag in circular motions similar to the ones she did before, she polished the upper part, and moving progressively lower. Polish. Polish. Polish.
Circle. Circle. Circle.
Turning it over gingerly, she checked for any spots that she hadn't polished yet. Nada. So, it was five minutes. Great! Checking her watch, Elise sat down and waited.

Kennedy wiggled his nose. There was a funky smells around here, but he dismissed that when Professor Vindictus spoke. Since he was done with the broom polishing he repacked the broom care kit. After returning it back to the stack, he placed all the rags in the bins and then went back to his work area. He cast a Scourgify, cleaning the leftover mess.
He turned to the broom and grinned at it. Look at it, such a beauty. How he wished he could have a broom of his own. He gently picked it up and took it to the rack. Maybe he would ask Professor Vindictus if he could borrow it later on.
After checking that things were in order, he packed his things. "Thanks for a fun lesson, Professor Vindictus," he said. Could they do this again?
[1]"The first step in caring for your broom is to clean it. You'll need a bucket," Vindictus began. "They're under the table. Grab one and pour a cap full of the concentrated cleaner into it. Then stick your wand inside the bucket and fill it half way. The incantation is Aguamenti. Finite will end the spell."
He crouched down and grabbed a bucket which he placed on the floor. Vindictus then poured a cap full of the cleanser into the bucket and stuck his wand into it.
"Aguamenti!"
Water shot out of his wand and the bucket began to fill up with water.
"Finite!"
He pulled his wand out of the bucket and pointed to the sudsy water.
"Once you've filled the bucket, put your wand away and grab a sponge out of the basket," he instructed and grabbed one himself. The basket of sponges was located between two other baskets - one contained blue towels, the other red rags. "First, you want to clean the handle. Stick the sponge into the sudsy water and give it a squeeze; if you don't then you'll have a huge mess to clean up later."
Wink.
[2]"Wipe the handle clean until all traces of built-up dirt and grime are gone. Grab a blue towel and gently pat the handle dry. Once you're finished cleaning the handle, carefully plunge the tail twigs into the bucket. Slowly stir counter-clockwise seven times, then stop and keep the tail twigs submerged in the sudsy water for approximately 2 minutes. Then stir clockwise seven times and submerge for another 2 minutes. Then we have the messy part."
Grin.
[3]"The towel you used to dry off the handle - place it on the floor next to the bucket. You'll need another towel, too, so grab one. Then take the broom out of the bucket and hold it over the towel that's on the floor. With the second towel, gently pat the tail twigs until they're no longer dripping. When finished, place the broom on the table so that you can clean up."
[4]"Use Scourgify to rid the bucket of its watery contents and use the two towels to mop up any water. Place the towels in the towel bin and the sponges in the basket located to the left of the fireplace."
"Now show me how you can remove the yucky dirt and grime from your brooms!"
OOC: This should take you at least 4 posts. Be descriptive and have some fun (just don't set anything on fire). I'll post the next step around 8pm EST tomorrow.

The clippers are all sharp so there shouldn't be an issue with them not working. Dull clippers won't work at all."
"When you're finished trimming the tail twigs, place the clippers back into the supply kit and toss the teensy twig bits into the fire. Then grab a red rag and open the can of polish."
To demonstrate what he meant, he pulled two items out Kurumi's kit.
"Tail twig clippers," Vindictus said as he held the silver clippers up for everyone to see. He then put it back and took out the polish jar. "Fleetwood's High-Finish Handle Polish - the best polish on the market." He put the polish jar back into the kit and reached for a red rag.
"Grab a red rag, unscrew the lid and dip the rag into the jar. Scoop out about a Knut's size glob of polish and then make sure you put the lid back on the jar. Work the polish into the rag for about a minute or two - this action will warm up the polish and make it easier to apply."
Well, they did need to know the simple trick or else they'd waste the polish and apply too much!
"Gently rub the polish onto the broom handle in a small circular pattern. Make sure you overlap the areas. Do not rush this step - take your time! Grab a clean towel and gently buff off the dried polish in a small circular pattern. When you finish, repeat the polishing step again. Tayla took the towel she had used to dry the handle and put it on the floor next to the bucket. She grabbed another towel before taking the broom out of the bucket and holding it over the towel on the floor. With the towel she had just grabbed, she pet the tail twigs gently until they no longer dripped wet.
That done, she put the broom carefully on the table. She was happy about how clean and almost new the broom looked now. "Time to clean up!" she thought to herself.

Looking at his finished work Vickers picked up the broom and set it carefully back against the rack. He was rather proud of that detailing. He walked back to his work area and returned the supplies back into the broom-care kit, flipped it shut then picked up the rags and proceeded to return the kit back to the stack where he got it from earlier. On his way back to pick up his things he dropped off rags into the bin next to the fireplace. Hitching his bookbag up he turned to his Head of House "Thanks for the lesson Professor, hope you have a great day Sir."

Tayla took out her wand and pointed it to the bucket. "Scourgify!" She used the two towels to mop up some water on the floor. Then she stood up, put the towels in the bin and the sponges in a basket near the fireplace.
Having cleaned her workplace, she took the broom carefully and checked to make sure she didn't miss anything, especially with the tail twigs. Satisfied, Tayla opened the broomcare kit and got ready with the next step.

Minerva closed the cleaning kit since she had kept putting things away as she finished and put it where the professor instructed on the stack. She had already put the towel in the bin so she picked up her broom and put it back on the rack. "Thank you Professor it was fun cleaning the brooms." She headed out of class and back to the castle.
