The Broomshed is a place where the Hogwarts school brooms are stored when not being used by students participating in Flying Class or Quidditch. The shed is located one hundred yards from the Quidditch Pitch and appears to be on the verge of collapse to the untrained eye. Carefully open the door that miraculously hangs on rusted hinges and inside you'll find the broomsticks hanging from the ceiling, glass cauldrons and leaning up against the walls. Select your broomstick with care before heading out to class and return it to it's resting place when class is over. At the center of the room is a large wooden table surrounded by benches - take care not to get any splinters if you decide to take a seat while tuning up your broom!
Basic Broomshed Rules: 1. RP your character getting a broom for class/returning a broom/caring for a broom, etc. Please be aware that there are no Firebolts in the shed nor can you find the 'old' Quidditch Equipment Trunk in this shed. 2. Broomsticks in here are for flying practice, Flying Class, and Quidditch uses only. If your character sneaks in to take a broom for a flight by the lake or on other areas of school grounds, expect a loss of House Points and/or Detention. This rule also applies to playing with Quidditch equipment on school grounds or in the Castle itself. Remember - Quidditch and Flying only happens in the Practice Pitch thread and/or Flying Lesson threads. 3. The Broomshed is not a place for public displays of affection (PDA) - violators will lose House Points and gain a date in the Dungeons (aka, Detention). 4. Observe SS Board Rules at all times. 5. Have fun!

Ella picked up the blue towel she had used to clean the handle and placed it on the floor next to the bucket, hoping it would soak up the water that would surely pour off of the twigs. She went to grab another towel to help pat the twigs dry and placed it over her shoulder. Ella lifted the broom out of the bucket slowly, surprised at how heavy it was now. She held it over the towel on the floor and the water started to drip causing a flood of water to build up on the towel. "Oh Merlin." Ella said with a sigh. She grabbed the towel off of her shoulder and started to pat the tail twigs gently, hoping to absorb most of the water and prevent any hug mess. She worked quickly, surprised at how clean the broom was looking. Eventually she touched the tail twigs which seemed pretty dry. They looked nice too which Ella was happy about. She placed the broom on the table and looked down at the mess on the floor. She was currently standing in a nice little pool of water and she knew she'd have to clean it up and well so that no one wiped out on their way past her. "Nothing like finishing up a cleaning lesson with a little more cleaning..."

After she was done consulting with her paper, Elise stared at the broon for a moment before picking it up -oh so carefully- and holding it vertically over the sudsy water. Checking once again mentally, she nodded to herself. Seven counter-clockwise and stop for two minutes. Counter-clockwise, meaning away from her body.
One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven turns.
Once the two minutes were over, she stirred the broom in the soapy water towards her using her left hand. Seven times, so that was...
And another two minutes. Seriously, the two minutes seemed like forever but checking her list, Elise's eyes nearly popped out of her head. Messy part? Oh, no...

Before emptying the bucket, Ella decided to ring out the two towels she had used into it, ridding them of the excess water before using them to clean the huge puddle on the floor. Once she had done this she grabbed her wand and pointed it at the sud filled bucket on the floor saying, "Scourgify!" She smiled as the contents inside the bucket disappeared, still feeling a childish delight as her magic worked its-well-magic. She turned her attention again to the mess on the floor. Using the two towels s she mopped up the water that had leaked all over the floor around her. "Yuck." she said under her breath, knowing how dirty the water was that she was cleaning. Once she had soaked up the water she she walked over to the towel bin, holding the towels gingerly. She plopped them into the bin and headed back for her sponge. She walked over to where the fireplace was and dropped the sponge into its rightful basket, enjoying the momentary feeling of warmth that standing in front of the fire provided. She walked back over to her space and picked up her bucket, placing it back under the table where she had got it. She then sat back down in front of her broom, smiling at the job she had done.
After retrieving a blue towel the prefect walked back to his work area. Kennedy placed his hand where the broom stick and tail twigs met. He wanted to have a good grasp of it incase his hand slipped or anything, resulting in the broom falling.
He soaked the sponge in the foamy water and before removing it completely from the bucket, he gave it a firm squeeze. This reminded him of when his mom made him wash dishes. According to her there was a right and wrong way. Almost like a system...for washing dishes.
The boy ran the sponge all over the broom handle, taking his time. He wanted to enjoy this since he didn't know when he would get another chance to do it again. When he saw the spotless surface of the wood he grinned and inspected it to make sure the handle was dirt free. Which it was. He then tools the blue towel and smoothed it over the handle, carefully drying it.
Monica lifted the twigs from the bucket and held it over the towel she had placed on the floor. She patted the end dry with the other towel she had gotten. Once the the moisture had been removed, she set the sparkling broom down on the table and put the sponge and towels in their rightful places. She came back to the bucket and removed her wand from her robes. "Scourgify." The bucket cleaned itself. Monica then returned to sit by her clean broom as she awaited further instruction.

"The first step in caring for your broom is to clean it. You'll need a bucket," Vindictus began. "They're under the table. Grab one and pour a cap full of the concentrated cleaner into it. Then stick your wand inside the bucket and fill it half way. The incantation is Aguamenti. Finite will end the spell."
He crouched down and grabbed a bucket which he placed on the floor. Vindictus then poured a cap full of the cleanser into the bucket and stuck his wand into it.
"Aguamenti!"
Water shot out of his wand and the bucket began to fill up with water.
"Finite!"
He pulled his wand out of the bucket and pointed to the sudsy water.
"Once you've filled the bucket, put your wand away and grab a sponge out of the basket," he instructed and grabbed one himself. The basket of sponges was located between two other baskets - one contained blue towels, the other red rags. "First, you want to clean the handle. Stick the sponge into the sudsy water and give it a squeeze; if you don't then you'll have a huge mess to clean up later."
Wink.
"Wipe the handle clean until all traces of built-up dirt and grime are gone. Grab a blue towel and gently pat the handle dry. Once you're finished cleaning the handle, carefully plunge the tail twigs into the bucket. Slowly stir counter-clockwise seven times, then stop and keep the tail twigs submerged in the sudsy water for approximately 2 minutes. Then stir clockwise seven times and submerge for another 2 minutes. Then we have the messy part."
Grin.
"The towel you used to dry off the handle - place it on the floor next to the bucket. You'll need another towel, too, so grab one. Then take the broom out of the bucket and hold it over the towel that's on the floor. With the second towel, gently pat the tail twigs until they're no longer dripping. When finished, place the broom on the table so that you can clean up."
"Use Scourgify to rid the bucket of its watery contents and use the two towels to mop up any water. Place the towels in the towel bin and the sponges in the basket located to the left of the fireplace."
"Now show me how you can remove the yucky dirt and grime from your brooms!"

Annabelle took a school broom and started cleaning. She needed to refresh her memory about to take care of brooms. She took a bucket and filled it with water "Aquamenti!" she said. Then she filled the bucket and some of the water splashed on her clothes. "Ughh...Finite!" she cried and it stopped. Now some of her clothes were wet. She was somewhat of a klutz.
Then she put her wand in her robes and then took the sponge and cleaned the handle. "Ewww there is soo much dirt on it." she was horrified. Then she squeezed it out on the grass.

Having returned to his seat with a broom care kit in hand, Gideon listened attentively as Professor Vindictus explained on the step of cleaning the broom as the first part of broom care. Kit and broom now set down upon the work table in front of him, he reached beneath the table's surface. The 5th year finding the afformentioned bucket and taking it out so he could work with it.
Taking hold of the container of cleaner, he unscrewed the top and poured a capful into the bucket as instructed before recaping the cleaner, setting it aside and taking out his wand. "Aguamenti!" he cast once his wand was stuck into the bucket, water pouring from his wand tip into the container. "Finite," he added once it was half-full, the Gryffindor satisfied with things so far.
Once his previous task was done, Kennedy peered over at his notes. He knew what he was supposed to do, but he had almost forgotten how many times to stir the tail twigs in the water.
Lifting the broom up, he took a step back to make room between him and the bucket. Then he gently lowered the tail twigs into the soapy water. He took his time with this so that he didn't cause a messy splash or for the water to overflow. He began to stir counter clockwise. Now that reminded him of the witches in muggle films; stirring bubbly, green potions in huge cauldrons. Heh. After the seventh stir he stopped and looked at his watch and timed himself two minutes.
Dang, this broom was going to end up as good as new.
When his watch alerted him that the two minutes were up he repeated the process, but stirred clockwise this time.

After two minutes...
Beezus then stirred the broom clockwise seven times and submerged the tail twigs in the water for another 2 minutes.
When that was done, she pulled the towel she used to wipe the handle earlier and placed it on the floor next to the bucket. Next, the eaglette took another blue towel from one of the baskets and then she pulled out the broom from the bucket and held it over the towel that's on the floor.
Merlin, oh good Merlin. Why was she doing that? Okay, so she wasn't the type who detests icky and slimy things but she was just too sleepy to do anything else. And cleaning a broom..that was just tiring. She yawned again for like the 'n'th time.
Then she pulled the second towel to the tail twigs and started patting it dry.

With a decent supply of sudsy water now on hand, Gideon slipped his wand back in his pocket and got up, moving to retrieve a sponge to work with. Once he did, he returned to his spot in the work area to start on his work. Dipping the sponge in the bucket of water, careful to squeeze out the access to avoid too many drips.
Now for the broom handle.
The Gryffindor began swiping the sponge back and worth across the wood, turning the handle every few moments. When he felt like the sponge was all dirty, Gideon dunked it back in the water bucket and squeezed it before repeating the whole process once or twice more. The boy only stopping when he finally pulled the sponge away and was happy with how clean it looked.
Still holding the broom in the bucket, Kennedy stretched his free arm to reach for the towel he had used earlier. He kind of looked like a spread out ninja. After he finally managed to grab it, he spread out the material on the floor and shifted the broom so that the twigs were dripping on top of the towel.
The prefect took a step back from the dripping broom. These were his only pair of school shoes and he didn't want to get them wet.
He grabbed a second towel and patted the twigs until they were nice and dry.
Oh look at that. Now, THAT was clean!
Proud of his work Kennedy grinned to himself and set the broom on the table. He took out his wand again and pointed it at the bucket. "Scourgify," he said, watching as the soapy mess disappeared. Then he used both towels to dry the puddles that were left behind. He placed the towels and sponge to where they were told to place them. Woot, he was done.

Oakey looked under the table where the buckets were sitting just below his feet. Ducking down he picked up one of the buckets and set it front of him. Reaching into his Broom care kit he took the concentrated cleaner and filled the cleaners cap to the top and poured it into the bucket.
Removing his wand from his pocket Oakey pointed it into the bucket and cast Aguamenti The water began to trickle down from the tip of his wand. Oakey eyed it a few seconds later and figured it was about half full. Finite and the water ceased coming from his wand.

She had to struggle quite a bit with the patting because the tail twigs was still dripping after a minute of her attempt at drying it. But later, there were no more water drippings from it. Beezus looked at her broom which was all cleaned up now. "Hmmmm..seems better to me," well..compared from its appearance a while ago, the broom looked way more decent now.
The eaglette then placed the broom on the table so she could clean, she took out her wand which she pocketed earlier after doing the Aguamenti Spell. She pointed it towards the bucket and muttered, "Scourgify." that its contents, mainly the cleaning solution with bits of dirt, grime and spider webs had been cleaned up.
Then she pulled the towels she also used earlier and mopped the water on the floor, particularly the part where the bucket was settled. When that was done, she walked over to the towel bin and sacked the towels there. Returning to her place, she picked up the sponge and placed it on the basket located to the left of the fireplace.

Oakey walked over to where the three baskets were located. He nabbed one of the sponges and because Vindictus had said they would need a blue towe,l Oakey took one of those too.
Plunging his sponge into the bucket hand and all he lifted it out and twisted the sponge over the bucket letting massive amounts of sudsy water fall back into it. Taking his damp sponge to the brooms handle Oakey wiped the handle clean of all dirt that was on it. Picking up the blue towel had had retrieved Oakey patted the handle dry and saw it shimmer.

Once the broom was clean Minerva looked at her list to find what she needed to do next. She took her blue towel and patted down the broom handle to make sure it was dry. Then she had the handle dry she put the tail twigs into the bucket and stirred it counter clockwise 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 times. Then she left it for two minutes. As she waited she watched all the other students cleaning their brooms and wondered what they would do with the brooms once they were clean. Once the two minutes were up she moved on to stirring the broom clock wise seven times. Then she let it sit for two more minutes.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Now to the next part. Setting his sponge and towel aside he lifted the broom with the tail twigs facing down towards the bucket of suds. Dipping it in the bucket Oakey began stirring it Counter-clockwise. He counted the stirs until he reached his seventh count and stopped. Waiting the two minutes he began stirring it again but this time in the opposite direction and counted seven.

After waiting two minutes Minerva placed the used blue towel on the ground next to the bucket. Then she pulled the broom out of the bucket and placed it over top the blue towel. Picking up the second towel Minerva gently patted the tail twigs until they were no longer dripping with water. She went over and placed her clean broom on the table as instructed.

The two minutes were up. Oakey removed the tail twigs from the bucket and set his broom aside as he retrieved a second towel from the blue towel basket. Setting the already wet towel over the floor Oakey picked up his broom and rested the handle end on the end of the table for extra support. He held the middle of the broom with his right hand and the new towel with his left. With the new blue towel he dried the tail twigs until he figured they were dry enough.

Minerva then went back to her bucket and rung out the towels to make sure water wasn't left in them. She pointed her wand at the bucket "Scourgify" the bucket was clean. Then she took one towel and wiped up the floor making sure it was clean. Minerva then folded up the towels so they were nice and neat, collecting the sponge and cleaned bucket she went up to the fireplace. She left the bucket where she had gotten it and then dropped the sponge off in the basket to the left of the fireplace. Then she laid the towels nicely into the basket as well. She went back to her place and waited for further instructions.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Pushing the broom all the way onto the the table. Oakey took his wand back out and cast Scourgify at his bucket of sudsy water. The water seemed to evaporate and the bucked was empty leaving no trace of water left in it. Then taking his two blue towels and sponge he placed the towels in the basket and layed the sponge in the bin by the fireplace. Oakey walked back over to the table and sat next to his broom.

Cleaning brooms. Again. Blahh.
Even thought it was necessary, Sierra still hated doing it. She remembered that her very first lesson with Professor Vindictus, save for the beginning flying lesson, had been about broom cleaning. Now here she was in her fourth year, doing much of the same.
She turned on her heels then headed for the table, retrieving a bucket out from underneath it. She then moved to the concentrated cleaner and retrieved a cap full of it, pouring it into the bucket a moment later. With that done, she pointed her wand into the bucket and said, "Aguamenti!" Water began to pour into the bucket. When she had enough water, Sierra added, "Finite," ending the charm.

Grabbing a blue towel, Gideon went about drying the handle, patting it as directed. He then bit his lip as he struggled to remember the next few steps. Was it clockwise first and then counter or vice-versa? Vice versa....that was the way....counter...pause...clockwise. Nodding to himself, he carefully submerged the tail into the bucket of soapy water before begining the procedure.
Gideon then stilled the broom and left it there with his hand still on the handle while the other glanced at his watch to time the two minutes. Once the time was up, he began the second round of stiring.
Then there was another two minutes to wait, the 5th year watching the clock as the time passed rather slowly. When that was finally over, he lifted it up out of the bucket and held it as he prepared for the next part...the messy part as Professor Vindictus called it.

Sierra pushed her wand back into her holster then headed for the sponges. Scooping one up, she headed back to her bucket and dipped the sponge inside. She then withdrew the sponge and held it over the bucket as she squeezed it several times with her hands. The excess water dripped back into the bucket, leaving Sierra with a sponge holding an adequate amount of water.
Now why couldn't they have done this with magic?! This whole assignment seemed very Muggle to her. Nevertheless, Sierra scrubbed the handle of the broom, occasionally pausing to check the dirt and grime level. Finally, just when her arm was getting sore, she decided the handle was properly clean.
Sophie watched Professor Vindictus doing all the broom cleaning. Flying was cool, but she was sure that cleaning a broom would... not be that cool. Meh. Oh well, she had to do it anyway.
She hurried to get a bucket and poured a cap full of the concentrated cleaner into it. She pulled out her wand and pointed it at the bucket. This spell was easy, Sophie had cast it plenty of times. "Aguamenti!" And she watched as water filled up the bucket. "Finite."

Sierra reached for a blue towel then patted the handle until it was dry. *pat pat pat pat pat* She surveyed the handle, looking for any sign of wetness. Nope, all dry. She put the blue towel away then gently grabbed the broom, plunging the tail twigs into the bucket a moment later. She first stirred counter-clockwise seven times, then stopped and waited for two solid minutes. After that, she stirred clockwise seven times then waited another two minutes.
