"The first step in caring for your broom is to clean it. You'll need a bucket," Vindictus began. "They're under the table. Grab one and pour a cap full of the concentrated cleaner into it. Then stick your wand inside the bucket and fill it half way. The incantation is Aguamenti. Finite will end the spell."

He crouched down and grabbed a bucket which he placed on the floor. Vindictus then poured a cap full of the cleanser into the bucket and stuck his wand into it.

"Aguamenti!"

Water shot out of his wand and the bucket began to fill up with water.

"Finite!"

He pulled his wand out of the bucket and pointed to the sudsy water.

"Once you've filled the bucket, put your wand away and grab a sponge out of the basket," he instructed and grabbed one himself. The basket of sponges was located between two other baskets - one contained blue towels, the other red rags. "First, you want to clean the handle. Stick the sponge into the sudsy water and give it a squeeze; if you don't then you'll have a huge mess to clean up later."

Wink.

"Wipe the handle clean until all traces of built-up dirt and grime are gone. Grab a blue towel and gently pat the handle dry. Once you're finished cleaning the handle, carefully plunge the tail twigs into the bucket. Slowly stir counter-clockwise seven times, then stop and keep the tail twigs submerged in the sudsy water for approximately 2 minutes. Then stir clockwise seven times and submerge for another 2 minutes. Then we have the messy part."

Grin.

"The towel you used to dry off the handle - place it on the floor next to the bucket. You'll need another towel, too, so grab one. Then take the broom out of the bucket and hold it over the towel that's on the floor. With the second towel, gently pat the tail twigs until they're no longer dripping. When finished, place the broom on the table so that you can clean up."

"Use Scourgify to rid the bucket of its watery contents and use the two towels to mop up any water. Place the towels in the towel bin and the sponges in the basket located to the left of the fireplace."

"Now show me how you can remove the yucky dirt and grime from your brooms!"

OOC: This should take you at least 4 posts. Be descriptive and have some fun (just don't set anything on fire). I'll post the next step around 8pm EST tomorrow.

Professor Vindictus had given the instruction. They need to... clean the broom?

Oh, Okay...

Raven took a bucket under the table and filled it with water. "Aguamenti." then "Finite." After the bucket had full of water. She put her wand on her robe, then she grabbed a sponge out from the basket. As the instruction, she cleaned the handle first.

Taylor listerned to the professor as he described how to clean the brooms that they got in front of them. She was a little bored so far by the lesson but tried not to show it least he get mad or insulted. Tay looked down at the broom she got, a little disgusted on how dirty it was. Does the school even take care of their brooms properly? She wrinkled up her nose in disgust. The broom she had in the dorm was in tip top shape and she expected Hogwarts to at least have their brooms clean if not in perfect condition but alas they seem to make the students do that. She reached down and grabbed a bucket. Taylor poured a cupful of the smelly cleaner into the bucket and sat the cleaner aside. She stuck her wand into the bucket, careful not to get the cleaner on it and firmly said, "Aquamenti!" Tay watched as the bucket began to fill with water. When it was half way, she said, "Finite" to end the spell.

After listening to Professor Vindictus give instructions Ella reached under the table and grabbed a bucket. When she pulled the bucket out she scraped her hand on the table, getting a splinter. "Ouch!" she said quietly, not wanting to cause a scene. It was only a splinter and it wouldn't kill her so she continued on. She reached for the concentrated cleaner, unscrewing the cap and pouring a cap full into the bucket. She placed her wand into the bucket saying, "Aguamenti!" Ella watched the water pour from her wand, waiting until the bucket was filled half way before saying, "Finite!" Alright, what was next again? She looked at the bucket blankly and realized her wand was still stuck inside. Right, might want to take my wand out of there... She removed her wand and and put it to the side, looking towards the basket where the sponges were located. "Time for some scrub-a-dub-dubbing." She said quietly.

Messer jolted down some notes as the Professor explained to them how to clean the broom. After he instructed them to begin cleaning their broom, Messer ducked his head under the table, like Professor Vinductus said there's a bucket for him to use. He took out the bucket and poured a cap full of the concentrated cleaner into it.

Next step he need his wand. He grabbed his wand and pointed it to the bucket "Aguamenti!" but nothing come out from his wand. Errrmm..One more time "Aguamenti!" he said more clearly this time and a jet of water came out from the tip of his wand. When he thought that the water was enough "Finite!" and the water stopped coming from his wand.

Taylor put her wand away like the professor said to. She sent a glance to the broom she was suppose toclean and couldn't resist another nose wrinkle of disgust. Taylor went and got a sponge from the basket that the professor gestured toward. She went back to the awful broom. Tay stuck the sponge into the sudsy water, feeling the water swarm all around her hand. She gently pulled it out a little and squeezed the extra water out of the sponge so that she wouldn't have to clean a huge mess later. Taylor started cleaning the handle off like the professor instructed them to do.

Alyssa listened to the Professor's instructions on how to clean the broom and watched as he demonstrated how it should be done. She then quickly jotted down the steps in her journal.



Now that Alyssa had all that written down, she went over the table where the Professor had said the buckets were and looked under it. Sure enough the buckets were there. She grabbed a bucket and brought it back to where she had left her broom and placed it on the ground.

Taking out the bottle of concentrated cleaner from her kit, she removed the cap, tilted the bottle and poured the liquid into the cap, taking care not to spill any excess onto the floor. She then emptied the contents of the cap into the bucket. Alyssa then took out her wand, pointed it inside the bucket and said "Aguamenti".

Alyssa watched as water started streaming out of her wand and filled her bucket. Once it was half full, she ended the spell by saying "Finite". Now for the cleaning part of the assignment.

Taylor continued to wipe and clean the broom handle until the last bit of dirt, the tinyest bit of dirt and grime was no where to be seen. She smiled, a little proud of herself, at the handle she just finished cleanly. The broom was already looking better even if only the handle was fully clean. It had looked terrible to start out with. On to the next step...... Taylor carefully plunged the dirty and mud clumped tail twigs into the sudsy water in the bucket. She slowly stirred seven times counter-clockwise, like the professor instructed. Tay stopped and let the broom be submerged in the sudsy water for two minutes. Then she stirred clockwise 7 times, slowly. Taylor let the broom tail be submerged into the sudsy water again for about 2 minutes. It was now time for the messy part..... great......

Okay...

Raven grabbed the sponge, then she stuck it into the sudsy water and give it a squeeze, Then she wiped the handle clean until all traces of built-up dirt and grime were gone. She grabbed a blue towel and gently pat the handle dry.

After she had finished with the handle, she carefully plunged the tail twigs into the bucket, slowly stir it seven times counter-clockwise, then keep the tail twigs submerged in the water for 2 minuets. Then she stirred it again seven times counter-clockwise, and submerged again.

Kurumi wrote down the instructions given by Professor Vindictus on a spare piece of parchment and double checked the first step before putting it into the pocket of her robe. She then bent down and looked under the table for a bucket and had to crawl just a bit to grab it. Making sure not to hit her head on the bottom of the table - which was a very good thing considering there was some old gum under it - she set it on top of the table before unscrewing the cap to her cleaner off. The fumes were...intense, intense enough that her eyes sort of watered and she leaned back away from it so as not to inhale more of the stench. Slowly, she poured herself a cap full of the solution and then poured that into the bucket, shaking the cap to get as much excess off as she could.

Super smelling concentrated solution in the bucket, Kurumi removed her wand next and held it inside the bucket. "Aguamenti," she said and a jet of water burst from her wand. Once the bucket was half full, Kurumi gave her wand another flick. "Finite." Kurumi then put both hands on either side of the bucket and jostled it gently to try and stir its contents up just a little bit more before she went looking for a sponge.

As the Gryffindor listened to the Flying instructor as he told them what to do Auggie concluded that cleaning your broom sounded alot like cleaning his dad's car back at home.

After recieving the single that they could begin, August walk to grab a bucket where they had been indicated and then walked over and claimed a spot in the room not taken over by other students. He sat down his bucket and then took a cap full of the special cleanser, then dumped it into the bucket. Next he needed water.

"Aguamenti!" The Gryffindor watched closely as the water rose in the suds and then when it was half full he spoke "Finite." and the water ebbed from his wand.

Now he just needed a good old dirty car. Oh but they were cleaning brooms.

Jacques listened carefully with an intense sort of focus not bothering to smile when the professor smiled or laugh, in fact he wasn't even sure the man told a joke, he was sure though that is he had it flew right over his head. Jokes weren't Jacques thing, now facts about anything and Jacques could go on and on and on and on never ending really. He took his bucket from under the table as well as a sponge and the blue towel that Professor Vindictus had specified. Setting them aside and ready for his use, he opened his kit and got the concentrated cleaner looking at the bottle before uncapping it and taking a quick sniff of the solution then pouring a cap full into the bucket. Re-corking the bottle and replacing it, he pulled his wand from its holster and aimed it at the bucket trying to say the spell the way Professor Vindictus had. He didn't exactly do so and instead of bursting from his wand, it trickled a little with short gusts.

When he was satisfied with the water level -and fed up with waiting- he spoke the words to the canceling spell and the water stopped which made him pleased with himself. He dipped the sponge and squeezed it underwater before bringing it up and squeezing above water too. He held the broom up and made his mental plan to wipe the handle in small sections starting of course with the top. With the plan in pace he switched the device in his ear off and got to cleaning. He focused best when he couldn't hear what was going on around him, and he liked it like that, he felt like he was alone. As he cleaned he began reciting things he knew about brooms randomly "Wizards have been riding broomsticks since the 10th century. There is an annual broom race that spans over three hundred miles in Sweden." He turned the broom stick "Puddlemore United is the oldest Quidditch team and the Holyhead Harpies is an all girls team, the only all girls team." He moved down to the next section. "The Golden Snidget is an endangered and protected by the Ministry. They used to be used before the snitch was invented by Bowman Wright."

He was speaking quite loudly but he didn't know that of course since he couldn't hear himself, if he had known he wouldn't have felt embarrassed though which was what made him weird "The first World Cup was in 1473 and there are 700 ways to foul in Quidditch." He liked watching the game well enough but couldn't play, he had no sense of balance, his father was probably quite upset over that since he was a former recruiter and now a commentator for the World Cup and he wrote articles about Quidditch. He was finished with cleaning the handle by the time he finished his facts and was drying the handle gently as he was told.

Zhenya had her broom and her wand caring kit in front of her. Now she just had to follow instructions, so she made sure she was listening well. She knew this would cone in handy for her when she needed to clean her broom, so learning how to do so was essential.

She followed instructions and grabbed a bucket, and placed it on the ground in front of her. First step was to put a capful of the concentrated cleaner inside the bucket. She took off the lid, poured the cleaner inside until it was full, and emptied the cap into the bucket. Then she replaced the lid, and wiped around the edge where there was a small amount that had seeped from the lid.

Next, she needed to fill the bucket up. She got her wand from her holster in the pocket and pointed it into the bucket. She said "Aguamenti," and it came out at a pretty slow pace, which was good. She didn't want ALL bubbles. When the bucket was half full she said "finite," and the water stopped coming form her wand.

Taylor placed the towel she used to dry off the handle on the floor next to the bucket. She went and grabbed another towel. Tay went back to where she was at and where the broom in the bucket was, with the towel. She slowly pulled the broom out of the sudsy water and watched as the excess water dripped off of the broom before she held it over the towel on the floor. Taylor held the broom tightly so that the broom wouldn't slide out of her grip as she gently started patting the tail twigs to get rid of the dripping water. When the twigs weren't dripping anymore, she gently laid the broom on the table in front of where she was cleaning it. Taylor admired her handy work. She smiled and was happy with it. Tay glanced at the bucket filled with the water and cleaner mixture, the sponge, and the towels....... time for clean up..... at least she was almost done with the part he instructed them to do. With that thought, Taylor smiled.

"Awesome!" she said, looking to see that her bucket was full enough. Now, what would she use to clean it? She looked around, hoping that a sponge or cloth would magically appear in front of her. But it didn't.

She sighed and looked up and saw that the Professor was indicating two buckets up the front where the sponges obviously were. Well, that was great! She walked up and grabbed a sponge, and plunged it into the sudsy water.

Alyssa holstered her wand and reviewed her journal. She decided to change some of the steps, in order to save time.



Once her corrections were made, Alyssa walked over to the baskets that contained the sponges and pulled one out from it. She then looked into the other basket containing the blue towels and pulled out two from it. She shoved the towels into each of her robe's pockets before returning to where she had left the broom and bucket of water she had filled. She noticed that during the short time she had been away, the water had turned sudsy. 'I guess that's supposed to be good,'Alyssa thought to herself. "Now let's get you clean."she whispered to her broom.

She soaked the sponge in the water and once it felt heavy with water, she took it out, squeezed out some of the excess water, before picking up the broom and wiping the handle with the sponge. She cleaned up and down the handle, occasionally using the tip of her finger nail to scrape off some of the stubborn dirt and grime. She kept wiping up and down the handle before laying aside the sponge to examining the handle. Once she was sure that it was clean of all dirt and grime, Alyssa pulled out one blue towel and using it, started pat drying the handle. She placed the towel against the handle and patted it up and down the handle, using the towel to soak up the water on the broom handle.

After pat drying for a couple of minutes, Alyssa examined the handle to make sure that it was dry, before she proceeded to the next step of the cleaning process.

Zhenya got a good hold of the broom and took out the sponge which dripped back into the bucket. She gave it a squeeze and watched as clear, clean water dripped back. Her broom wasn't too dirty, which she was glad about. Not too much mud! She had a bit of a thing with mud. It always attacked her!

She began wiping away at the handle, being quite gentle. She began to quicken her pace to make sure it wouldn't take forever. It took a while, and a bit of elbow power before there were no traces of dirt left on the handle. Standing up to get a blue towel to pat the handle dry, she made a mental note to have EVERYTHING she needed with her.

She slowly put the tail twigs into the water, and fully covered what she needed to with water. Then she carefully stirred it seven times, making sure to count in the right spot. Once she had done that seven times, she needed to wait two minutes. She pulled out her watch and noted the time, before doing it the other way - and waiting two minutes again,

It was time for clean-up. Taylor got out her wand again and pointed to the bucket, "Scourgify." Tay put her wand away and watched as the water dried up with a slight sizzle sound to it. After the bucket was dried, she mopped up any spilt watery miture surrounding her work area. She finished drying the area and placed the two towels in the towel bin. Taylor took the sponge and put it in the basket to the left of the fireplace, as instructed by Professor Vindictus. After she got her work placed cleaned up, she went back to it and waited for further instructions from the professor.

Jory listened intently to the Professor's instructions. He got a bucket from under the table and poured one cap full of the concentrated cleaner into it.

Grabbing his wand, he cast the water Charm. "Aguamenti!'' he said with his wand stuck in the bucket and water began to pour into the bucket and getting sudsier all along. When it was halfway full, Jory stopped the water. "Finite!''

Sponge now in hand, Kurumi plunged it into the bucket of water - shivering at the coldness for a moment - and then promptly removed it and squeezed it tightly over her bucket to remove the excess water. Once the sponge wasn't a total soggy mess, Kurumi began to wipe the handle of her broom, putting a bit of elbow grease into it as she did so, and attempted to find a rhythm by humming to herself. Only...

Her eyes glanced over at the Slytherin student (Jacques) who was spouting off fact after fact about flying and Quidditch and...flying. Wait...had Professor Vindictus asked a question and she was too distracted with the tasks at hand to have noticed? Was this some sort of test on multitasking and she was FAILING?! Thrown into a mild panic, Kurumi picked up speed on the wiping of her broom's handle and nearly sent the sponge flying in the boy's direction. Thankfully, she was able to catch it before it went too far, but she did end up almost whacking him in the face with her broom's handle.

"Oh...um...sorry...butterfingers..." she said with a nervous laugh, returning to her station. Grabbing a blue towel next, Kurumi set to patting the handle dry. Not awkward at all....

She quickly picked up the blue towel and put it on the floor next to her bucket, before realising she needed another one. She quickly ran to grab one then dashed back to her bucket.

She pulled her broom from the water and let it drip a few minutes over the towel before patting the rest of it dry. Her broom was now dry!
She placed it on the table and went to clean up her area.

She pulled her wand out again and said "Scourgify," and the water in the bucket disappeared. She didn't have any water spills, which she was happy about. She put the towels in their own bin, and the sponge in the bucket.

Now that there was a bucket of sudsy water infront of Auggie, the Gryffindor went to retrieve one of Professor Vindictus's sponges and then returned to his cleaning station. Taking the broom he was meant to clean, he wondered how on Earth it had gotten so dirty. Did someone literally drag it through mud recently?

Deciding that it wasn't his place to find the guilty party of the mudding, the fourth year dipped the sponge into the soapy water, then strained the excess soap off and began to rub the dirt off of the broom handle. Continuing to do this for about 5 minutes, being sure to get all the way around the wood, the dirt was now gone. After patting the wood with a blue towel from the blue towel bin, August was almost suprised there was a broom handle under that dirt.

The next step was the dipping of the tail twigs. Once the tail was submerged, the boy slowly stirred it around seven times counter-clockwise and then held the droom vertically in that position for the alotted two minutes. The next section of the task was the opposite of what he had just done. Now he stirred the water with the submerged tail twigs seven times clockwise and then allowed it to soak for two more minutes.

Alyssa reviewed her journal to make sure that she was following the directions that the Professor had given them.



'Now for the fun part,'Alyssa thought to herself. Picking up the broom by the handle, Alyssa lifted it up and plunged the tail twigs of the broom into the bucket of water. Then she started stirring it counter clockwise in the water. Counting off the number of times she stirred, Alyssa found herself singing, "One Banana, Two Banana, Three Banana, Four, Five Banana, Six, Seven and no more."She stopped stirring and let the tail twigs soak in the water as she kept an eye on her watch. As she watched, she continued to sing again "Now we're going to wait to let two minutes go by, not a second more or this broom won't fly."Alyssa giggled to herself. She remembered the song from an ancient muggle TV series she used to watch with her sister. It was called the Tra La La Song from the Banana Splits Adventure show. She couldn't remember the lyrics of the song exactly, but figured that her version was fitting for this part of the broom cleaning.

Once two minutes had gone by, Alyssa held the handle again, and started stirring the tail twigs in the water, this time clockwise. As she stirred she counted off the turns. "One Potato, Two Potato, Three Potato, Four, Five Potato, Six Potato, Seven Potato stop." Then she let tail twigs of the broom sit in the water for another two more minutes while she prepared the floor for the next messy part of the process.

Next, Jory took a sponge from the basket the Professor had indicated. Then he stuck his sponge into the sudsy water and squeezed it out afterwards.

Carefully, the Huffie began to wipe away all the grime away from the handle. "Time to get you all cleaned up, broomstick,'' he said to it.

Alyssa reviewed her journal, scratching off the steps, as she completed them.



While she let the tail twigs soak in the bucket of water for two minutes, Alyssa lay the towel that she had used flat open on the ground next to her bucket. Once the last second ticked off on her watch, she took out the broom and held it over the towel. Pulling out the other towel from her pocket, Alyssa held it up closer to her so that she could gently pat dry the tail twigs. Once the twigs stopped dripping water, Alyssa touched them gently with her bare hands to make sure that they were dry. She then placed the broom on the table and proceeded to start cleaning up the mess she had made.
