Alyssa gulped. She was definitely messing up so far in this class and so decided to concentrate harder and not rush to answer the questions the Professor posed the class. Okay they were supposed to study their zodiac sign. She knew hers was Scorpio. So she turned to her textbook and wrote down some of the traits for someone born under that zodiac sign.

Ira was just glad that she wasn't on an entirely wrong track of thinking. She listened attentively at the explanation given by Professor. So, in reference to the triangle, the number 22 combines vision and action, whereas the number 33 gives guidance to the world. Now Ira was confused. How could these numbers represent such things??

But then, she looked on as Professor Hadley changed the topic to Zodiac Signs. Yep, this was a little easier and better too. So now she had to examine her sun sign.

Her birthdate was 11 July. So she was a Cancerian. A crab...! Hehe..

Anyways, she looked into her textbook and noted down in her parchment some traits.
Whoa! That was a lot of qualities. An was Ira really like that? Who knows!

She wrote down what 22 and 33 represented. Zodiac sign, that was an easy one she was Aries born on April 1st! She wrote down some things about Aries. Things she knew about Aries were that the element was fire and Mars ruled it, and the stone was a diamond/ruby and its animal was the ram.

Olivia already knew she was a gemini, her birthday was on june 9th.
Wasn't there a fourteenth zodiac sign now, Olivia believed in it, even though she still stayed a gemini, when some people shifted back one sign. "What about the new zodiac sign, ophiuchus or something, whoever believes in it should still be able to use it".she said out loud. But she doubted anyone else would believe in it. Once again, Olivia thought she should have been sorted into Hufflepuff.

So far, Daichi hadn't said a word as the questions came. He simply wrote down his answers on a piece of parchment and listened to the Professor and students. As they were instructed to find their zodiac sign, Daichi opened his text book and search for his birthdate. May 5th... It was funny how he was born on the fifth day on the fifth month.

He looked at Olivia as she mentioned that there was a new zodiac sign and he wondered if she was right. So they should be checking another sign? Better wait for the Professor to comfirm that. He began to read what his sign meant and took notes on his parchment.

Okay so perhaps Ella's answers had been a little off this lesson...she was trying though! As for her zodiac sign, well Ella knew she was a virgo. Her Gram was very into the signs and always read her horoscope in the local paper. Ella pulled out her quill and began jotting some traits of a virgo.

Glenn knew she was a Leo, being born on the 2rd of August. She already knew it had Gryffindorish traits, what with it being a lion the represented the sign. Kinda starnge she was sorted into Hufflepuff then maybe, she should have been sorted into Gryffindor? Nah. She liked Hufflepuff way more. The badger pulled out her quill and ink and set about writing in her journal.

Born in October made Jory a Scorpio. So quickly he made a note of the traits.

"Loyal definitely fits,'' Jory thought, He was a Hufflepuff after all.He was not sure of jealousy.

As it seemed like no one had any questions thus far and they all got the part of figuring out their Zodiac Sign, Fina decided it best she move on.

"So I know I said we weren't really focusing on Core Numbers today, as our main focus was on understanding Master Numbers and that in the final calculation before you reduce to a single digit, if you have one of the three special numbers, then it's important you pay attention to those interpretations," Fina reiterated, pausing a moment. "But without seeing if any of you have a master number, then it's hard to really explain it properly."

"So put your traits about your Zodiac sign aside... You'll need them later, and for right now, tell me how to calculate your Life Path Number." She paused thinking, "And someone else tell me how to calculate your Personality Number."

Daichi shoved the piece of paper aside when the Professor told them they needed it later. He scratched his head as the next question came and it sounded familiar. Hadn't he had this in his first year? or had it been his second year? Either way, Daichi luckily remembered the personality number and how to calculate it.

"Professor! You calculate your Personality Number by using your full name. First, middle and last. Then you add the appropriate number to each consonant and figure them out separately before you add the total on each name." he said as he held his hand in the air. "And when you've done that you have to reduce the number until you get one digit." he added and lowered his hand.

As instructed, Ira kept her zodiac sign interpretations aside, and raised her hand up to answer. Life path number and personality number? She had calculated them before.

She said, "Professor, for calculating life path number, we have to add together the month, day, and year of our birth and then reduce it to single digit."

And now the personality number? Was it adding vowels or adding values of consonants? Maybe vowels. No, consonants.... she debated with herself in her mind. But they just had to answer any one number, right? So she just kept quiet.

Shrugging, Elise moved her parchment to the side of her table before pulling out another slip of paper. Now, Life Path Number thingy.

"You add the month, day and year of birth and reduce it to a single digit." She grinned, her hand in the air. It was probably one of the only things she remembered about the subject anyway.

"Yes! Perfect!" Fina nodded at the Slytherin. "Just make sure it's only the numbers from the consonants you're adding. And you should use your full birth name.... always"


And then two students went on about describing their life path number calculations. "Precisely correct!"

Turning to face the board, she transcribed her all too familiar calculations on the board:

"So as you can see it's important to reduce each component of the calculation to a single digit before you add them together." Fina explained, pointing to each line of her calculations. "This will help to ensure you don't accidentally think you have a Master Number, when you don't in reality. It will also help you to easily find mistakes, if there are any..."

"Go ahead and calculate your Life Path and Personality Numbers. And if you have any questions, please as me. Your core numbers should become second nature for you to calculate, if nothing else in Arithmancy." Totally why she didn't mind spending so much time on them.

Alyssa would have raised her hand to answer the question that Professor Hadley had posed but figured that since the others had already provided the answers that she would just keep quiet and write down her notes. But now they were supposed to calculate their Life Path Number and their Personality Numbers. This would the favorite part of Arithmancy Class. Calculations.

So Alyssa first reviewed her textbook before starting her calculations.

Daichi's face lit up when the Professor said his answer was perfect. He smiled a bit and listened to the other student as they explained the life path number.

Hearing the next instructions, Daichi grabbed another piece of parchment out of his bag and opened up his text book.


Looking at his paper, he felt that something was wrong. Or maybe it was right and he simply THOUGHT he was wrong...? Either way, he held his hand up to call the Professor.
"Professor Hadley?" he asked. "I have a question, i saw that my last name Katharos ends with a 22... should i have kept this number like this because it was master number or should i have reduced this number as well like i've done now?" He hoped he had been right.

Ella placed her zodiac information to the side and pulled a blank paper towards her, ready to calculate her life path and personality numbers.

Raising her hand, Ella looked for the Professor. "Can you please check my calculations?"

Lily copied down the information on how to form the two numbers that they were going to do before trying it herself.





Once Lily was done, she looked at her calculations again and noticed that both numbers were eights. Raising her hand quickly, Lily asked a question. "Professor Hadley... Did I do this correctly? Is it common to get the same number for both calculations?"

Sarassi wrote down the traits and put them off to the side. Then she started to calculate her life path number. She did her life path number first, which turned out to be 8 and then her personality, she had to do it twice because she forgot ONLY the constants, she had done the vowels, her personality number was 9!

Olivia had blanked out for a bit. She blinked her eyes, and looked back at the board. She was happy that the class had finally gotten to something interesting, she knew a lot about arithmancy but she liked it so much she came to this class!





Seven happened worked out perfectly for Olivia's personality!

Nerida looked down at her new piece of lilac parchment and started to work out her life path number, it was 8 and then her personality number, which was 3. She heard something being crossed off she looked over at her sister, Sarassi and smirked, she forgot to get rid of the vowels...

Ira was glad that her answer was right. And now, moving on to the calculation part. Ira took out her parchment and quill and ink-pot, and started:


Wow! So her life path number was a master number. That was good, right?
Then she began her calculations for Personality number. She wrote her full name and then assigned the respective values to the consonants:

Her personality number again was a master number 22.

Having finished her calculations, Ira raised her hand up and said, "Professor, I am done... Can you please check my calculations?" She hoped that her calculations had been correct. She certainly didn't want to redo them!

Reviewing Alyssa's parchment first, Fina just shook her head. "Miss Potter, what did we just spend like ten or fifteen minutes talking about?" She asked, indicating to the girl's life path number in particular.

"And as for your Personality Number, I'm sure we've had this discussion before, but that Y in both your first and middle names, they sound like they're used as vowels to me." In which case they're calculated as part of her Heart's Desire, not Personality Number.

Hearing a young boy look inquisitively up at her, Fina went over to have a look at his parchment. "No. That's your surname. Which is only one component of your Personality Number. If, however, you add all the reduced components of your name together, and before your final reduction to a single digit, you have a master number, then that's when you keep it as such." She paused looking at his calculations again. "So in other words, that 15 from your first name, you'll want to reduce to a single digit as you did with your middle and surnames..." And he might just find a completely different number .... Sorta.

Hearing a young familiar voice ask about checking her work, Fina looked over at the young badger and nodded. "Well done, dear."

Looking over at now a Ravenclaw's work, she shook her head and then nodded. "It is possible to get the same number for multiple core numbers, yes," Fina answered, lingering as she scanned over her work again. "But you don't have that here. Check your calculations for your Life Path Number, as you've miscalculated in your addition, I believe."


Nodding in approval as she passed by another Ravenclaw's work, she didn't linger terribly long since it didn't seem as if the girl had problems or questions.

And she did the same as she walked by a Slytherin's desk, giving her a nod of approval.

And again, when she walked by a Ravenclaw's desk, Fina gave a brief look at the calculations and nodded in approval. She was getting good at this.


Ah, and someone who actually asked her to check her work. Again. Approaching the Lioness' desk, Fina glanced at work, noticing at once that the girl recognized her special numbers. Checking to ensure accuracy in her calculations, she nodded. "They're correct."


"Given that your personality number is described as being your outer or external image, how do you think the number you calculated as your personality number relates to the characteristics in accordance with your Zodiac Sign? Does it related? Feel free to share with the class or just write in your notebooks." Hopefully she had a few out-spoken students though who wouldn't mind sharing.

Glenn remembered having worked out her Life Path number before. She flicked back to the page that had the Life Path number working out and definition on it and refreshed her memory on what her number was. It was a four. It said something about education or something in it, that was what she remembered anyway.





Wow, a master number! If that was correct; that was really cool. "Professor Hadley?" Glenn asked, raising her hand fully aware she was slightly later than everyone else, "Have I done this correct or..." Because everyone knew that Glenn was great at miscalculating numbers and all of that stuff. Better get the professor to check her calculations before she got excited about the fact she had a master number.

At the professor's next instruction, Glenn picked up her quill and flicked to a new page. Her zodiac corresponded with her personality number. But was she the sphinx or the lion cub? It seemed she could be perceived as either with what was the difenition.

Nerida smiled at her work and then looked up at the Professor, go look at the charcteristics.. She looked into her textbook and found what her numbers said. Life path number 8 said Your path will lead you to work out the difference between money and the real value of life. You must learn what to do with your natural power and authority, but this is not an easy path. Once you've learned this lesson, you'll move on to the next phase - being in charge. You're a born boss and your natural power and authority cause others to look to you when a decision needs to be made. The reward or you won't necessarily be financial but may come in terms of accomplishment and legacy. Career/vocation options include any field where you can be in charge and where you can utilize your superior skill of good judgment. Learn the difference between being rich and having money and the real value of life, what was the real value of life, school, family? Personality number 3 said Looks like fun; magnetic personality; life of the party; animated and friendly; great speaker; charming and entertaining; sometimes hogs the spotlight; extroverted and social; attractive physical appearance; optimistic; contagiously enthusiastic; witty; clever with words; great sense of humor; looks great in most colors and styles. You tend toward exaggeration so others may not take you as seriously as you'd like. In fact, they may even distrust your judgment at times. It is also possible that your jealousy will get you into a lot of trouble. Oh yes she was fun, friendly, optimistic, great speaker, clever with worlds, and amazing sense of humor, it got her, adn it said she hd a cute physical apperance...Wait jealousy, nope not me! Okay it was only a couple times and it was only a two month grounding...Nothing major! She looked back to her traits and looked up at the professor and said I think mine correspond, im not 100 percent sure though...

Alyssa realized her mistake. She almost wanted to smack her head. She should not have broken up her Life Number 11 further as 11 was a Master Number. She had remembered that the Y's in her name were pronounced like vowels, but she had thought that in this case it was different. Today definitely wasn't going right for her in class and she began to start feeling discouraged. She took a deep breath and quickly recalculated her Personality Number again.



She then turned to her textbook and checked to whether the traits in her personality number related to any of the characteristics in her zodiac sign



Alyssa studied the traits between her Personality Number and her zodiac sign, Scorpio and couldn't find any traits between her Personality Number and her zodiac that corresponded. The only possible trait that might link her Personality Number with that of her zodiac was her supposed wisdom, which she was seriously lacking today which would help keep her out trouble by observing the law, making sure that she didn't take short cuts which might end up with bad results and maybe being frugal. Was she going to share her findings with the class? For the first time, Alyssa was actually afraid to speak up. So she kept her head down and continued to write in her journal.
