The months flied by in gush of leaves and when Edvard was prepared and ready to hold his first lesson of the term they were entering October. The leaves had taken on a fuller red or brown and yellow colour as the storms started to pick up and the first snow was hanging in the air. Edvard couldn’t help that he had been a bit preoccupied up till now with fixing the observatory and hosting his challenge.
Clad in magnificent space coloured robes he took up his place at the front in his oak desk with the evening Prophet stuck under his nose as per usual at the start of a lesson. It was Edvards way of getting into teaching mode.The desks are arranged in a typical classroom fashion today with neat rows and parchments on each desk. Make use of the parchment. On the black Professor Roslund has written in his curvy distinctive hand writing.

Opening the Prophet on the first page Edvard engaged himself in the latest news after the cult of Walpurgis throw down, apparently there had been a ball at the Ministry.
Occ:Make yourselves comfortable. We'll officially start in a few hours. Keep the chit-chat to a minimum. Class has started! Acquaint yourself with the Rules, if you haven't done so already. All Astronomy classes are set at night after dinner.
Silvia continued the search, wondering where to look next. Only one balloon left before she had to end her search to allow other students a chance to find some. She turned her telescope past the lake and on towards the front of the grounds. Scanning the area for several minutes, her telescope finally landed on an area near the front gate, where a balloon was floating close to the ground.

Beezus nodded and listened as Professor Roslund elaborated about the nocturnal instrument. She also jotted down a few important points. Afterwards, she took out her telescope when they were asked to search for balloons on the Hogwarts grounds.
She looked into the lens, adjusted it.. Search..Search..

She fiddled with the cover corners of her book, biting a pouty plump lip. She suddenly had the urge to wonder what he was doing here. "What is your name?" So I can make sure not to run into you around here. "If you don't mind me asking." He shouldn't. It's just his name she wants.

One balloon would have been enough for her, yet it seems like searching for those things were so much fun. Not to mention that her classmates are also getting the hang of looking for more than a single balloon. So Beezus followed the crowd and looked into her telescope's lens again.
Hmmmm..balloon, where are you? she thought. "Balloon, balloon..Show yourselfffffff..." Just then..

The Slytherin listened and took some notes as the Professor spoke about the object. So it was a Nocturnal instrument... mweh it looked like any normal compass/ruler to him.
Now, the practical part seemed to be faaar more interesting! He took his telescope out of his bag, this time he hadn't forgotten it just his normal feetwear and set it up.
Daichi looked through it but saw nothing. The lens was out of focus and the Slytherin bit his lip in thought as he tried to remember the spell from last year they had learned.
Suddenly, he smiled to himself as he grabbed his phoenix feather wand, did a little prayer he wouldn't blow the thing up. He swished his wand and with a tap he said "Lens focalis!" He peered through the telescope again but it hadn't worked. "Lens focalis!" he tried again as he swished and tapped. This time it had worked.
Now that his lens was focused he started to look around the grounds, trying to spot his first balloon. Daichi first looked at the little cutey duckies at the pond.. oh he really hoped the Groundskeeper would let him help him taking care of them...Oh what's that?! Something green was in his vision... the trees weren't green anymore! It was november! He zoomed his telescope in and found that it was a green balloon. The very first balloon he found.

Kurumi went over to the nearest telescope and peered through it, trying to spot something that hadn't already been found by others. She was moving a little slower than usual today, so she needed to pick up the pace.
Turning her telescope towards the lake, Kurumi spotted something. It was a balloon!

Moving his telescope towards the front gates , Daichi zoomed in a little bit as he searched the area. It was pretty hard finding those balloons with a telescope but that made it more fun right?
He had written down that he had found a green balloon at the duck pond on a piece of parchment so that he wouldn't make a mistake of finding two of the same colours. Daichi searched and searched, trying to find a second balloon. There had to be more for the other students already spotted more than one! Rubbing his eyes, the Slytherin saw something orange flash in his lens. Turning the telescope back he spotted the orange balloon with a small smile. Balloon two? check!

Continuing to look through her telescope for something, Kurumi continued to spot balloon after balloon...only to find that her sluggish reflexes at the moment were getting the best of her. Sighing a bit, Kurumi was beginning to think that there were no other balloons left for her to find when she saw something...wait, had someone already spotted it? She thought that she hadn't heard someone shout this one out or check it off the list...or whatever it was that they were doing to keep track of the balloons.
It wasn't a house balloon, just another orange one, but it would do.

"Honestly! you have never gone fishing have you?" he didn't know what fishing had to do with this but he did know that it required alot of patience. Oh right... Gryffindors wanted to go right in to action. He rolled his eyes a second time.
As the duck came closer , Daichi signaled Thea to go to the left like in those muggle action movies. He himself stood up but hunched over while walking tiptoe towards the duck. "NOW!" he shouted.

Spotting the balloons was actually easier than he thought! He had already spotted two in not so many time. This was a piece of cake and he was sure he would be done with the task soon. Speaking of cake, he wanted one ... a chocolate one hehe.
Turning his attention back to the task at hand and ignoring his now rumbling stomach, Daichi moved his telescope to search the grounds. His gaze swept over the landscape throught the device and as the minutes passed by the Slytherin sighed. He knew he shouldn't have thought about being done soon earlier... Still, he was not giving up. Daichi stepped a little closer to the telescope as if that would help him find it better as he pressed his eye against the other side of the lens. Maybe the lake a was good place to look? It was big and ...a balloon would be easy to spot when you looked better right?
Great, he had spotted a orange balloon... but he already had the orange one so he continued to search for a different colour. He moved his telescope up and down and moved it from left to right... and just as he was about to give up he saw purple in his vision. Zooming in, Daichi let out a high pitched squeal in delight and quickly wrote down where he had found the third balloon. on his parchment.

Still keeping her eye on the duck pond, Kurumi tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear and rested her eyes for a moment. It was starting to wear on her just a bit, all the intense gazing and unblinking eyes. After taking a few moments, Kurumi tapped her telescope to cast the focusing spell and then returned to looking back through the lens.
Wait...was that...it WAS! Kurumi had found a Gryffindor red balloon!

“It does look like a compass Tayla. It’s called a nocturnal and is used for telling time like the sundial but is used at night and uses the starts positions for accurately giving the right time not the sun.” Edvard said.
Turning to address the whole class Professor Roslund started his lecture "The object in my hand is as most of you have correctly stated a Nocturnal instrument. The latin name for it as some of you have given is horologium nocturnum it can also be called nocturlabe."
"The nocturnal is an instrument used to determine the time based on the position of a certain star in the night sky. The referance stars sailor use are often the North star, the big and small dippers. The nocturnal is most commonly used as navigational instrument since on the sea its important to be able to calculate tides."
"The instrument can be constructed from wood or brass. The outer disc/layer has the months of the year and an inner disc with hours and in some cases half hours even. It will also have a pointer rotating on axis as the discs. The axis or pointer has a hollow in the middle to allow for a star to be sighted through it."
Looking down at his watch for a moment he nodded to himself and then looked up at his students "It’s getting late so we shall jump to the last portion of tonight. I hope you all brought along your telescopes?"
Edvard waited a moment and then continued as the students extracted telescopes from their bags. "We are going to star gaze but not for stars but balloons located on the grounds. So set up your telescopes and get to work!"

In order to have your character spot a balloon, you must QUOTE that post and link directly to it. "Oh...yes...a nocturnal," Tayla replied, realizing the professor was referring to another object. She sighed, gave the professor a small smile, and listened intently to the activity he started to explain.

Eager to gain more points for Gryffindor, Tayla kept searching.
To be fair to everyone and to let everyone who wants to participate do it i will add more balloons since i calculated wrongly. Forgive me guys. I will let you all know when I have added more ballons + post a point board so you all can see how many ballons you have spotted.
Adding more balloons doesn't mean that the number of how many balloons you can spot will go up. It will still be 5 ballons per person.

I have now restocked the grounds with 42 new balloons. So everyone is free to go balloon spotting. Use the same quoting format as before. Remember to check the timestamps so you don't spot an old balloon they will not score you any points.
Those of you who have spotted 5 ballons can no longer participate.

Vickers was having some tough luck spotting balloons, as he would constantly take his glasses off and rub his eyes. He couldnt decide if he could actually see better with the telescope or his own eyes given that he was far sighted anyway.

Selena continued to scan the grounds. She wanted to find another green balloon... to compensate for the cherry red one she had just discovered. Her eyes and telescope panned back and forth across the grounds. She also wondered if there would be a pygmy puff shaped balloon... because that would be way cool.

The grounds at Hogwarts were really beautiful, and there was always something new to see and explore, even for the people that thought they had seen everything.
Being the nice pet owner she was, Nessie took Puffles with her for a walk. She knew he'd loose his mind if he stayed in the common room the whole day, and so she was kind enough to let the pygmy puff join her. There wasn't anywhere particular she wanted to go, she just walked and walked. It was probably the last few weeks of warm weather as the winter was near by and Nessie didn't like the cold, she preferred the warm weather which was why she enjoyed it whilst she could.
The little indigo pygmy puff walked beside her. He seemed to be all happy, as he ran along and played with himself and for once he wasn't being such a nuisance...or at least she thought he wasn't. She took her eyes off him for not even a minute and when she looked back he had disappeared again. He always did this to her, she hated it and she honestly didn't feel like playing hiding seek with her pygmy puff. "Puffles? Where did you go now?" It was worth a try, but he didn't respond. She bit her lip and started searching for him, she didn't have much of a choice.

"OH!" Selena exclaimed, wanting to jump up and down and wondering if the professor would mind if she just... accioed all the balloons to herself. "GREEN ONEEE!!!" Right over the Pathways, yup. LIKE A BAWS yo. She was sooo good at spotting epic green balloons. Everyone else was obviously jealous... and if they got to keep the balloons they found... Selena wondered if anyone would like to trade...

Yeah. Now... back to finding more epic green balloons. Because Green was epic. Selena looked around frantically, trying to find all the green balloons she could. Three out of four was green, now she just needed to make up for that red balloon because it was obvious that two green balloons OWNED the red ones. A lot. Greeeeennnnn ballloooooons, where you be hiding at?
Selena wanted to keep ALL the balloons.... maybe she could tie people she disliked to them and watch them - naaah. She was pretty sure the professor hid chocolate in all of them or something of that sort.

Like... obviously well done because it was Selena Zabini-Riddle, the awesometastical, doing it. mmmhmmm. No one could top her. Yup.

Turning his telescope away from the Lake. Daichi now searched the area at the vegetable patch. He had the feeling one would be there...He zoomed at the little hut but. Over the four patches of vegetable beds. He then looked at the white fences, the first fence, second white fence, a red balloon, third white fence..wait a second! Daichi held his breath automatically as he zoomed out a little bit and saw in the corner of his lens something red. Turning his telescope a bit to the left he saw the red balloon tied on the white fence...not green but better than nothing right? so....Yay~!
Quickly grabbing his parchment, he wrote his fourth balloon on the list.

Daichi started to become tired as he gazed through the lens of the telescope. But he only had one balloon left to find so he had to refrain from yawning and just laying his head on a desk. Despite having taken a quick nap before the lesson, he still had to rub his eyes. Scanning the pathways. The leaves that were suppose to be on the trees now lay on the ground in a messy pile and he chuckled softly as he remembered loosing his bouncing ball somewhere in those leave piles... The Slytherin zoomed in as he past the trees and searched the grounds too. A green flash came in his lens as he turned a little too fast to his right and as he turned back he saw that the green flash had been a green balloon! A GREEN ONE! he found two green ones~ That was good right? ...hopefully...
Scribbling his last balloon on a piece of parchment, checkie~! Daichi raised his parchment and high in the air as he waved it around. "Siiiiir~" he said , sounding a bit whining but he was actually excited. "I found five balloons, Professor! Cool right?" The slytherin gave a quick good-job-slap on his shoulder and smiled.

Vickers was combing the grounds now for a specific blue one, he spotted a lot more, which belonged to other houses. He left those be, to give them the chance to score their own colors. Finally he spotted another balloon of a similar shade to the first one he found, the kind he wsant sure if it was violet or blue. Or maybe it was blue violet. "Found a 5th one Sir, by the Vegetable Patch".

This wasn't Angelina's day apparatly. It seemed that all her classmates were finding the balloons but she wasn't. She must not be looking right. Angelina peered threw her telescope she looked slowly threw the pathway. Finally she spotted one, a red one.

Having spotted two ballons, Beezus' eyes began to blur so she backed away from the telescope lens a bit. She just needed a few minutes' rest. Casually, she squatted on the floor and looked at her classmates getting all busy from their balloon sighting when she heard Daichi say he already got five.
O____O He already did? Does that mean she was the only one who needed to find three more? Almost instantly, she stood up and hurriedly peeked on the lens and quickly surveyed the grounds. 'Oh, Beezus..hurry!' she scolded herself.

PLEASE forgive me? I'll do...I'll do anything. Honest!" The two of them were still on the floor, taking a breather, while Hunter continued to pace back and forth.
