Arithmancy One: Daily Vibes & More About Personal Year, Month, Day Numbers
After what seemed like months had passed, Josephina was finally ready to hold her first lesson of the term. Of course the leaves were only just starting to change color, so it wasn't as if term was truly that far in, but even so. It wasn't her fault that she had several issues interrupting her train of thought. Pulling her thick brown hair back into a fast ponytail, she went to stand by the door with a parchment and quill, as she waited for the students to come.
The desks were arranged in a typical classroom fashion today - neat rows, with chairs that were definitely far more comfortable than they appeared.
Have a seat, the lesson will begin shortly.
ooc: Make yourselves comfortable. We'll officially start in a few hours. Keep the chit-chat to a minimum. Acquaint yourself with the rules, if you haven't done so already. Class started. You're encouraged to participate if you didn't post coming in, but please PRETEND as though you've been here the whole time.

Lily was looking forward to this class. She was told that it was similar to muggle mathematics and Lily did exceptionally well in math. I guess that's partly why I am in Ravenclaw. Lily thought as she reached the entrance to the classroom. Shyly, Lily looked up at the professor before saying, "Hello, Professor. M-my name is Lily Potter." After that, she proceeded to find a seat along the edge of the rows of desks in the classroom. Looking around she noticed that she was one of the first in the classroom. Lily was fine with that though. So she pulled out her notebook and her quill and waited for class to begin.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Daichi was excited for the first Arithmancy lesson of the term and he couldn't help but smile as he made his way to the classroom. He had his school bag over his shoulder and the text book in his arms as he held it to his chest.
"Hello Professor Hadley" he greeted the moment he was at the door and saw her standing in the doorway with a parchment and quill. Was she going to take notes during class like Professor Romanos had been doing during the lesson?
He shook his head as he noticed he had been standing at the door too long in his thoughts and quickly flashed the woman a smile before entering the classroom.
He found a seat at the front row. Placed his bag on the ground and the text book on the table and sat down.

Ella walked into the Arithmancy classroom and smiled nervously at the professor. "Hi Professor, I'm Ella." She said brightly. "I'm in your house but haven't had a chance to introduce myself yet." She saw an empty seat up front and walked over to it. She should probably be in the front since reading her Arithmancy textbook had only confused her more. She would be paying close attention in this class.
With her shoulder bag bumping her butt behind her, Louisa entered the classroom rather quickly. She thought herself to be a bit late but apparently she arrived just in time. Pausing a bit at the front of the room, she gave professor Hadley a formal nod, "Good day, professor." If the professor hadn't liked Louisa's work of art that day, the girl wouldn't have greeted her. Louisa was mean steady like this.
Moving on to take a seat in her usual favorite spot; the front row, the fifteen years old placed her bag on the floor by her feet. Hopefully nobody would trip over with its strand. Heh.

Walking into the classroom with her book bag hanging off her right shoulder, Kurumi looked at the desk in the front of the room where Professor Hadley was usually seated, only to notice that she wasn't there. Huh? Turning to her left, she was a bit started when she was the professor standing right there. New routine for the new term perhaps?
"Good day, Professor Hadley," Kurumi said, eyeing the parchment and quill in her hands for just a brief moment before continuing her way into the classroom and taking up her usual seat in the front. It was...going to be strange without Evelyn in class. Really strange. Someone was going to have to take the she-snake's place in glaring a hole in the back of the prefect's head. It wouldn't be Arithmancy without it.

Amelia loved all her classes besides Ancient Runes, but Arithmancy was her favourite after Care of Magical Creatures. :33
Smiling, she made her way into the classroom and took a seat near the front. "Hello, Professor Hadley!" she said now as she took out her books and and a pen, placing them on her desk.
Laci had decided on light blue today, very simple, somewhat girly. Yes, this would do nicely. To set things offf right she went right up to her teacher and held out a baby blue gerber daisy, one that matched the dress Laci wore. "Professor, this is a token of my appreciation. That would take time out of your life, to teach young students how to become great wizards and witches like you." Smile, curtsey, back to your seat Laci.

Zhenya walked into Arithmancy class room for the first time. She had no idea what the lesson would be like, and was sure she would walk out confused. But hopefully she could learn some new things. She was never fond of muggle's maths... But she was looking forward to it, none the less.
"Hello Professor, I'm Zhenya," she said to the Professor, before finding a chair and getting comfortable.

"Hi, Hadley!" the redhead GREETED the Professor as she walked in. Because, yes, Ellie Stone was here. In Arithmancy. Even after her OWLs. So, basically, she WANTED to be here.
Hadley should be proud, right?
RIGHT.
The girl continued to her usual middle middle seat in the classroom.

Alyssa walked into the Arithmancy Classroom and saw Professor Hadley standing at the door, so she walked up to her and greeted her with a smile, "Hello Professor Hadley. It is good to be back in your class. I thoroughly enjoyed your class last year especially the last lesson and I'm looking forward to learning more from you this term." Alyssa told her before taking a seat and opening her study books to review the lesson.

Keefer was amazed that he was even walking toward this particular classroom this year. The fact that he had passed the Arithmancy O.W.L. was still a shock to him. However, getting Hadley in class again was a very welcome circumstance.
He walked in, noting the typical desks-in-rows layout of the room. But that meant nothing about the lesson. He'd seen Professors start out with a lecture and end with a paintball war. He eyed a chair in the second row and dropped his things. Seeing Hadley, his smile perked up. "Hullo, Professor Hadley! It's a great day for an Arithmancy lesson, no?"

FINALLY. A lesson that Vashti completely enjoyed - and it wasn't a joint lesson with a subject she didn't like. That was why the Ravenclaw wore the first genuine, warm smile she'd had in what felt like awhile as she entered the classroom. "Hello, Professor Hadley," she said, only briefly wondering what the parchment and quill were for. She'd probably find out soon if it was a part of the lesson, yeah? So she simply took a seat in the front and started getting her Arithmancy things out of her bag.

Arithmancy was going to be fun, as usual. This was the one class he had settled into just fine his first term at Hogwarts because numbers were his thing--his dad was a Math teacher.
The Gryffindor walked into the classroom and smiled brightly at the Professor before going and taking a seat next to Kurumi. He didn't really know many of the other students in the room so far, besides she was his friend and they sat next to each other in a lot of lessons.

Blehhh. Arithmancy. Numbers. Gross. Alex wasn't the biggest fan of this class, but he certainly liked it better than Ancient Runes. Yes. MUCH better than Runes. He smiled at Professor Hadley as he headed into the classroom. "Hello Professor!" he said cheerfully. He hoped this would be the standard intro lesson of the year--those were always super easy to follow.
He scanned the room and spotted August, the Gryffindor he talked to occassionally, and smiled at him, taking a seat next to him. August was sitting next to the Gryffindor prefect, whom Alex did not know personal but he recognized instantly. He gave her a little smile and wave in polite greeting as well.

With the weather starting to turn as well as the leaves it was certain October was in full swing and heading towards its next month. And with it was the first Arithmacy lesson of the term. Gideon headed down from Gryffindor tower after grabbing his bookbag, making a turn on the 2nd floor landing to walk towards the room. Upon reaching the classroom, the boy stepped inside taking in his surroundings as well as the professor there awaiting her students. "Good day Professor Hadley," he greeted with polite smile and nod.
"Hey Kurumi," he added with another smile spotting the prefect already there. Gideon only hoped the oddness that had existed at the movie was alright now. Moving to a free desk, the 5th year took a seat at it to prepare for the lesson to begin, a few sheets of parchment and quill placed out upon his desk.
Travis liked numbers, they were the only thing that meant the same thing in all places. It was only natural that Travis would be excited for Arithmancy, he'd grown up on the idea that numbers were the only perfection in the world. His mother had taught Mathematics for a number of years, before she got a job in the Education department in the Ministry.
Trav entered the class gave Professor Handlebar mustache a nod, and took a seat between the middle and the back. Putting down his bag on the table, he got a few rolls of parchment out, then attempted to get his quill out.
After a bit of tugging the stuck quill had decided it would give in, but not before ripping a large tear in his bag. Trav looked at the quill then his bag, and back again, hiss face rather surprised that the quill had been able to tear his rather sturdy bag.

Minerva walked into class. She loved Professor Hadley, but the class scared her to death. It was her hardest on last term. She smiled as she got to Professor Hadley though. "Hello Professor, hope your having a good day." Minerva said and then turned to find a seat.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Oakey walked into class with a smile on his face parchment and quill in hand. Oakey was proud of this quill, because it was his Self-Writing quill. This freed his hands in case he had important questions for the professor.
as he neared a seat relatively close to the front. He set his items down and greeted his Head of House Good day Professor Hadley Oakey said in his typical cheery tone.

Vickers entered and room and nodded his head politely at the Arithmancy Professor "Greetings Professor." he said as he paused to consider where to sit. Given that he would likely be spending half his time bent over his parchment he decided to sit in front so he can hear better. Besides, he brough his glasses along in case they needed to read something up on the board.

As some familiar students entered her classroom, and even some new ones, Josephina felt an odd sense of satisfaction. Particularly at seeing some of the returning students that she might not have expected. Adding small check marks to her parchment, she glanced up whenever another student entered and greeted her ever so politely.
"Thank you. Quite well," the brunette would reply, almost as if on auto-pilot. And then one student seemed set on bringing her a blue flower? Well that was strange; she thought most of the students had already given their appreciation gifts already. Smiling in appreciation at the girl, she nodded and twirled the flower for a moment before holding it carefully against the parchment with her thumb.
Once it seemed as if a fair number - for Arithmancy lessons anyway - of students had taken their seats, Fina closed the door, feeling slightly saddened by the fact that a certain She-Snake was no longer present. But perhaps one of these new students would take her place?
Walking back to the front, she turned to face the class, setting the parchment and quill on her desk beside her as she leaned back against it. She also set that blue flower on top of a box of chocolates - one that Oakey might find familiar looking if he noticed... "Well then, I guess we'll just get started. For those returning Arithmancy students, welcome back! For those who this is your first time, welcome! I'm Professor Hadley and I do look forward to teaching you and working with you on the divine art of Arithmancy!" She paused, giving them a moment to take out their parchments and quills, if they haven't already.
"Before we get into the nitty gritty topic of the lesson, it's always good to start with a short review. In studying Arithmancy, there are two major methods in existence. What are these two methods and what is the major distinction between the two?"

Professor Hadley looked nice and rested. He hadn't really seen her much since the Start of Term feast and wondered what she had been up to, but to be fair he hadn't ventured the Arithmancy classroom much either so it was on both of them.
The question asked made Auggie sit up straighter cause he knew this one! His hand shot into the air and he began to spill out the answer. "Professor Hadley the two methods for studying Arithmancy are Agrippan which is when the 26 letters of the alphabet are assigned numbers ranging from 1 to 9 and then the Chaldean method is pretty much the same thing but you dont use the number 9."
