Silvia wondered how different this portal would be from using floo powder. She had only used floo powder a few times before, and she didn't like it. But a rune portal didn't sound as bad; at least there wouldn't be any ashes, unless the other end of the portal had been placed in Mr. Murdoch's fireplace, which she doubted. The small Ravenclaw made her way up to the archway and pulled out her wand. When it was her turn, she pointed her wand at an empty spot on the arch and took a moment to focus on the spell. "Intaglio," she said, and carefully carved the Ehwaz rune. Once that was done, she returned the wand to its holster. Silvia had never had any problems with needles or blood, so she had no problem using her own blood. Carefully she pricked her hand with a pin, then rubbed the drops of red on the rune she had just carved. Turning towards the archway opening, she closed her eyes and pictured Mr. Murdoch's hut. Concentrating as much as she could on this image, she began to repeat, "Ehwaz, ehwaz, ehwaz..." Then she opened her eyes, keeping the image of her destination clear in her mind, and stepped forward. |
Leaning against the wall, Oliver watched as each of the students made their way up to the archway. He had to admit that he was a little surprised at how fast everyone seemed to be getting this exercise. He had been expecting at least a few, especially the younger students, to not get this first go. He gave a mental shrug. Must be his awesome teaching skills. Quote:
ooc: If your character has successfully created the portal then please remember to post in the groundskeeper's hut. If you do not then I will take it that the portal didn't work for you and you won't receive points. |

Laura went upto the portal and thought about the gameskeepers hut. "Intaglio." Laura then pricked her finger. "OUCH!!" Oh she was so not looking at the blood, she smeared it over her runes and then she concentrated hard. ""Ehwaz...Ehwaz...Ehwaz...Ehwaz." Laura then put her hand out and to her suprise went through the portal. |
Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa! A PORTAL For real, Now he just needed to prick his finger and smear the blood on his mark. What would he use to prick his finger. His finger nails were always nicely cut so that was out of the question. Wait he had a paper cut on his left thumb when he was reading his Muggle Studies Text Book a while back that hadn't completely healed! Picking at the scab he plucked it off and the blood started coming out slowly. dabbing his index finger on it he traced it the best he could having to go back occasionally to fill in the blank spots. (better safe then walking into a wall). As he finished he stepped into the archway and began thinking of [ |
Mr Vickers *gigglesnort* SPOILER!!: zeProf What ever smile that may have flitted over his features when he guessed right on the rune stains was quickly wiped off when the Professor instructed that they would be using their own blood in the next activity. He wasnt queasy about the blood, he just wasnt fond of cutting himself unnecessarily. He looked around and with a small sigh stood to wait his turn on the portal. As his turn came he reached his wand up on a vacant spot a little over his head then started to utter the Intaglio spell, carefully carving out the shape of the Ehwaz Rune. He lowered his wand and raised his left hand to himself. Eh, might as well get this over with. With a cutting charm he nicked the tip of his finger and blood started to seep through. He raised his hand and coated the Ehwaz rune as much as he could bear, then withdrew his left hand into his robes. Squeezing his eyes shut he visualized the image of the Groundskeeper's hut, chanting "Ehwaz" repeatedly. He then took a decisive step forward and fearfully braced for impact from the wall-- which never came. The next thing he knew, his foot has scruffed onto a floor very different from what he was accustomed to in the classroom. |
And that seemed to be the last of the students. It looked as though everyone managed to get through without any problems. Oliver stepped in front the archway and raised his wand. The temptation to seal it off and let Waylon handle all the kids was very strong but of course he couldn't do that. One, he still had a lesson to continue with and two, he didn't want to upset his friend. With a non-verbal 'Intaglio' he carved out the rune Ehwaz into the wood and then pricked his finger, watching the blood form before tracing the rune with the warm liquid. "Ehwaz." he said clearly while picturing Waylon's hut. The archway began to shimmer and with a small grin, Oliver stowed his wand and walked through the portal. ooc: I'm going to close this thread and part two of the class will start some time tomorrow. If you didn't get to participate in part one, you can still participate in part two. The second part of the class will be the Ancient Runes final so points will be awarded for participation. There will also be a theory section but I'll inform you of that later :) |
