Ancient Runes Lesson 2 Once again you find yourself on the fifth floor for another lesson in Ancient Runes. Only this time there is no Professor Jenkins to welcome you into the classroom instead you see a note pinned to the door. Quote:
Upon entering the classroom you will notice that this time there are desks along with chairs. But it's still not your ordinary classroom, for along the back wall you will notice a row of trees. Each with a label to tell you what they are. Rowan tree, Apple tree, Maple tree, Oak tree and a Willow tree. Again there is a reason why those trees are there. Also in the back corner is a water feature. There is no significance to this, just that Professor Jenkins likes the sound of running water. CLASS HAS STARTED!!! Please do not announce your late arrival just pretend that your charrie has been here the whole entire time. What are rune tablet/sets made of? Second question |
Entering the classroom and stopped at the door when she saw a not on it. Frowning a bit, because she was rather concerned as to why the professor would open up his classroom without him being present, Kurumi pushed open the door and walked inside where she saw...trees? She knew that trees were important in Celtic mythology and were especially important when it came to their wands, but she wasn't entirely sure about their relationship to runes... Shrugging her shoulders, Kurumi found a desk and set her bag down on it before pulling out the chair and taking a seat. She hoped that Professor Jenkins arrived soon...and with all his limbs... |
Beatrice held her hands together as she walked up to the Fifth Floor Corridor. After not attending quite a few classes, here she was, pacing her way to another Ancient Runes lesson. She was excited per se, since she had been AWOL for sometime now. So, the note on the door clearly scrunched up her face into a frown. What is it this time? What seems to be the problem that their Professor wasn't there yet? Did it have something to do with the those things that's amiss in the Forbidden Forest? Telling herself to stop thinking about it for it was giving her a headache, she walked inside and found the Gryffindor Prefect already there. "Hello Kurumi," she said with a nod as proceeded to take a seat. |
Zhenya walked into the class and looked around for Professor Jenkins. Not there... she shrugged and read the note. Prefects, hey? "Hey Kurumi! How are you?" she asked. She had really liked Kurumi after she had helped her during the Arithmancy game. |
Selina walked into the classroom that was now somewhat forest looking. It seemed that this year, for some odd reason, the Professors were being extra creative with lessons and the classrooms they had them in. She was about to go and comment about the awesome set up to her Professor when she saw that Professor Jenkins. Odd. With a shrug she took her seat and settled into her class. |
Nate walked into the room. With the note on the door Nate would just have to wait and greet one of the prefects. He then saw Kurumi. He found a seat and said "Hello Kurumi. How are you?" Then with that he looked on the back wall and saw alot of trees. Each one was labled a different name. Nate started to wonder how would that tie in with the lesson. Nate just then sat down and remained quiet. Unless Kurumi asked him a question too then he would talk. |
Lily walked to the door of the Runes classroom, and noticed the note. the professor isn't here yet??... Lily thought as she then proceeded into the classroom. She noticed a prefect in the classroom, but not too many others. Lily didn't know any of the other students in the classroom, so she walked over to a desk that was off to the side of everyone that was in the class, and sat down. She put her parchment and a quill on the desk before waiting to start the lesson. |
Although her 'skills' in ancient runes hadn't improved at all this year, Gwendolyn couldn't say she disliked this class. At least the first lesson was quite interesting. 'Hello', she greeted as she walked in the room, realizing only after words that the Professor wasn't there yet. Hmm. Just a few other students. Quickly looking around, the young Ravenclaw was a bit surprised to see all the trees there. Some of the Professors are certainly never running out of ideas, the girl decided, still trying to figure out how trees were going to be useful while learning about runes. Hmm. |
Ella entered the classroom and noticed the note pinned to the door. She frowned, wondering what was keeping Professor Jenkins but did as he instructed and found a seat. She noted the various trees around and smiled at the willow tree. She had always been fond of willows. |
Christopher walked into the classroom and did as the note instructed; he found a seat. He sat patiently waiting for Professor Jenkins... |
Minerva went into the classroom and noticed that there were desks this time, but no professor. She found a desk and sat down taking out her parchment and getting ready for class. |
Taylor walked in to the classroom after reading the note on the door. She wondered what the problem might be as she took a seat in one of the chairs. Tay prefered how the classroom was the first lesson since she prefered being on teh ground rather in a chair but she liked the different trees in the room. She glanced at each one for a few moments each and then looked at the water fountain looking thing. Tay smiled, she loved the sound of running water. It was so relaxing. Her thoughts drifted back to the note and she continued wondering what the problem the professor had to deal with, wondering if it had to do with why the balloon spotting party ended early. She rested her head on her head and put her elbow on a desk, drifting off into her thoughts which kept on changing. |
Hmmm, no professor? Interesting. Alex walked into the classroom and pulled out his things as he looked at the trees sitting around the room. What could THAT be for? Hmmm. |
Alyssa was surprised when she entered the classroom and noticed the sign indicating that the Professor had to leave but would be back. She looked around and noticed that there were actually trees in the classroom. She just loved the way this new Professor decorated her classroom. She made her way to an empty desk and sat down on the chair before taking out her writing materials and textbook from her bag. She placed her writing materials on the desk and then opened her book and started reading about the types of wood used to make runes. |
Oakey came to the classroom of his now favorite "Not" Head of House Professor, the Favorite Head of House Professor belonged to Hadley of course. His head was crammed full of Norse myths that he had read up on since their previous lesson where Jenkins told the story about Yggdrisil and and Odin. He was excited to great Professor Jenkins, but alas the Ancient Runes Professor was no where to be found. Oh but look there are more tree's in the room this time...cool! |
Amelia was surprised to come into the room and see no Professor. But then she read the note and understood. Looking around now, she saw that there were more trees. This Professor sure liked having trees in his classroom. :/ She shook her head before going to find herself a seat. She waited for the Professor. |
Gideon hadn't had much luck in the last runes class, either with understanding or following what was going on. Which was odd considering he hadn't had much trouble with the former professor with the accent everyone else had seemed to struggle with. Maybe it was the accent aspect seeing as he and the professor had both had one and they fit together? Whatever the case, he was determined to give the class another try to be fair and so he made his way down to the classroom for the lesson. Stepping inside the room, Gideon noticed the gathered students there and the condition of his surroundings. Kurumi...Selina...others...and a row of various trees in the back. Once more they were going all natural. What he didn't see was the professor, the note he just then noticed on the door explaining why. Okay so no greeting. "Hey Kurumi...Selina," Gideon simply greeted as he made his way to a desk, taking a seat ready to await whatever came. |
Silvia made her way to the Ancient Runes classroom. She paused for a moment at the door to read the note. Hmm, she thought. She wondered what could be keeping the professor. Stepping inside, she looked around. At least this time there were desks, even though it still didn't look like a normal classroom. Silvia took a seat at one of the desks in the second row and took out her quill and parchment, and waited for the professor to arrive. |
Sierra hated Ancient Runes, but her mother, because that's what she was now, had convinced her not to drop the three subjects she'd wanted to. The other two were Arithmancy and Divination, and Sierra hated them as much as she hated Ancient Runes. Here she was, though. In class for another lesson. Walking into a room, she silently read the notice on the board. The professor's absence didn't bother her. It was that last sentence on the notice, the one about the prefects being in charge. Psh. Sierra allowing Kurumi Hollingberry to be in charge of her? That'll be the day... She slid quietly into a seat and simply waited for the professor to show up. |
Grumbling under his breath about wandmakers and unreliable suppliers as he walked along the corridor, levitating a large box in front of him. Oliver nudged the door open wider with his foot and entered the classroom. He was pleased to note that the students were all sitting quietly and the room seemed to be in tact. Thumping the box down onto the floor, Oliver looked over at the students. "Sorry I'm late. My original plans for this class have gone sliiiiightly awry." He was very much tempted to swear again about his suppliers but he remembered where he was. "Now before I tell you what we're going to do today, I mentioned last lesson what Rune tablets/sets can be made out of. Can anyone remember what they are?" |
Alyssa thought for awhile before raising her hand. "Professor, rune tablet/sets can be made out wood especially if one wants to wear it around their neck like an amulet. They can also be carved into stone." |
Smiling and greeting students that walked in and said hello to her, and eyeing Sierra as she grumbled past the Gryffindor, Kurumi took a seat. Just as she was about to say something, the professor came in looking...a little frazzled with a rather large box. Oh? What could be in there? When he asked a question of the class, Kurumi raised her hand. "Professor, I believe that you said runes are carved into stone, metal and wood. Clay was also used, but not until later." |
Amelia smiled as the Professor walked in now even though he looked like he was rather annoyed with something. It reminded her of Professor Hadley. :/ Hopefully he'd cheer up a bit or something. She raised her hand at the first question. "They could be wood, stone, metal, and clay." She counted off all options on her hand, hoping she hadn't missed any. "But clay was used in later times," she added. |
Nate raised his hand and said "Like the others said professor, you said that they can be made out of wood, metal, clay, and stone." All the others said it so he didn't want to copy them without saying that first. |
Nope, Zhenya had no idea. She couldn't remember, but it was quite frustrating because she had told herself that she would remember all the information she needed. Well, apparently she let that rule slide. She put her hand up anyway and said, "Professor could they be made from bits of glass at all?" she asked. She wasn't sure when people started making glass, but it could be nice. |
