It was one of the last lessons and times she would teach some of the students and Fina was feeling rather nostalgic. Though she didn't show it, as she stood quietly at the front of the classroom, one ankle in front of the other. She was casually, subconsciously flicking her way through the latest copy of Arithmancy and You, although she wasn't really reading it.
The door was open, as were the windows to allow the fresh, Spring air into the class. Written on the board was a brief scrawl: 'Take your seats. We'll begin shortly.'

Reminder, this lesson is for fourth through seventh years only, with the exception one third year. You MAY attend even if you didn't do the Pre-Lesson Assignment.
Well, the good thing of his silence in this class? At least Kurumi was stealing Hadley's attention from being so quiet.

"Essence cycles, yes." He answered, eyes on Hadley. See? He was paying attention.
Fine. So she was done with the first name, and it seemed she hadn’t screwed anything up yet. Blimey. However, as they were told to do the same with the middle name, the third year swallowed heavily. The one thing she had always hated about this subject was that there was no way she could calculate stuff right without using her terrible middle name as well. Umm… except the things where they have to use the birth date. Hmph. But this time…
She wrote her name as quick as she could and put the numbers underneath each letter, calculating in a hurry the sum, which in the end came out 43. It seemed right. The young Ravenclaw checked one more time just to be sure and then erased everything, leaving only the letter R. That is where I’m now, the girl decided and looked it up in the textbook. Erm. Although the description wasn’t only a good one, Gwendolyn selected just the positive things to remember. Good enough.

Amelia thought that this part was a little more confusing than the other parts had been, but she could still do it.
Her first Transit had been I, the second E, and the third I... that was 9, 9, and 5. She started doing the work in her notebook:

So, his Mental Transit would be 20 years, meaning he was close to finished with it. Which makes sense, since I'll be out of Hogwarts and probably done with any other training I would have undertaken afterwards. He was transitioning from the L to the D stage currently. He was curious what those meant, but he would look those up later after he finished.
But his Physical Transit would be 27 years. He was currently in the middle of the I phase. Though he was curious, he didn't have time to look up the meanings, as the lesson was moving on.

So his three letters to work with were E, L, and I. Heh, Eli. It even spells out a name... That's grandfather's name! Yeah, sometimes Arithmancy could get a bit creepy in the way these things connected. Well, Eli turned into 5 + 3 + 9, which was 17. But that becomes 1 + 7, which is 8. So my Essence.. number? cycle? cycle number? Eh, whatever the name is, it's 8.
He flipped to the textbook and saw the entry, quickly scanning it. Well, I am starting to think about a career after Hogwarts... And NEWTs are coming up next year to remind me of that... So right off the bat it was correct. He didn't let himself get sidetracked further, but instead worked on the calculation for five years from now.
Um, first name... He scanned the page. He would be under and E five years from now. Check. Middle... barely a D. So last, then... Wait, I'll still be under the I at that point. That's what a 9 could do for you. Right, so. E is 5, D is 4, and I is still 9. Which gives 1 plus 8 for a 9. Moving from an 8 to a 9. How fitting.
Well....Ellie was skipping her middle name. She wasn't even going to ASK about it. She just...didn't have one, okay? People didn't have middle names sometimes. It was a thing.

Anyway, Hadley was moving on, so, unwillingly, the redhead opened up her textbook again and continued working. And, yes, she was just going to use her last name twice. Like the book said to if she really didn't have a middle name.

Kurumi was a little too distracted by her parchment to really hear what Professor Hadley was saying, but she did manage to hear Treyen speak to her, of course. She could still pick his voice out in a crowded room.
Violet eyes looking up for a brief moment to meet his, the prefect chewed on her bottom lip a bit more. Treyen was....sort of wrong there. She was losing him in one sense. He was graduating. Still, she offered him a small smile and took another quick glance over her shoulder towards Lewis. The reason? Kurumi wasn't really sure herself, but something tug at her chest when she did.

Eyes back on Professor Hadley, Kurumi looked down at her parchment. Just add all three of those together? That wasn't too bad, especially considering that all three of her numbers were...the same. Curious. "Professor," Kurumi asked as she raised her hand. "Is there a significance to...all three of your transits having the same numerical value?" Because...nothing in Arithmancy was ever a coincidence.
U: This is an intuitive and sensitive time in which you may find yourself unwilling to put out much effort. You lack motivation and initiative. A lot of old and long forgotten emotional issues may surface. People you have not heard from in a long time will call upon you. Relatives and family may require effort and attention. Gwendolyn couldn’t help but stare blankly at the textbook. How could ALL of that be true? Seriously…. EVERYTHING? Erm. Arithmancy started getting a bit freaky. She got help from people, even if she didn’t ask them to… ‘seek to help you achieve your goals’. Moving on. Travel- she had lots of plans for the summer, she even wanted to skip a few weeks this year and go to Egypt. Did that count? ‘Your personal growth will speed up considerably’ True. Even though all of the things seemed to match, the third year was most puzzled about the one stating ‘It is as if you are being catapulted from the old and outworn, into a new and fast-paced period…’ She suddenly remembered the talk with one of her friends. Just… so much CHANGE. Well- this certainly was way too accurate.
Hmm. Moving on- where will I be in 5 years? That sounded interesting. The young Ravenclaw was eager to find out. In 5 years she would have recently graduated from Hogwarts- and that had to be about changes, new opportunities and such as well. Erm. At least Gwen hoped so.

Erm. Gwen still wasn’t sure if she had to reduce the 19 to 1 or not, but because the meaning of the number 19 WAS to be found in the textbook, then… perhaps it was good what she’d calculated. Out of curiosity, the young Ravenclaw checked out the description for number 1 as well. Hmph. That one was better than 19. There were good stuff mentioned there too. Not like here. Great.

"Thank you all for another fabulous year and I'll see you at the closing feast. OF course if you have further questions about your readings, you're welcome to stay and ask me." But some of them had OWLs and NEWTs to be studying for .... and holding them up from those studies wouldn't give them a better mark on those important wizarding exams.

Oh! Amelia was sure that she had missed the bit where that was explained. Either that, or it had flown from her brain. Either way, it didn't matter because she was sure that she had it right. "Thank you, Professor."
She quickly went about filling out the rest of her calculation.

The rest of it, though, obviously couldn't be ignored, so she nodded. "Yeah...amazing..." And scary. Very scary.

But...Vashti didn't want it to be over. She didn't want to leave just yet.
So she sat there, pretending to double check her calculations and slowly rereading the meanings in the textbook over again without really taking them in.

Wait, class was over already? He felt like they were just getting started into the good information. Well, no sense sticking around inside when it's such a beautiful day outdoors. He gathered his things and set off. "Good bye, Professor. Have a good evening!" he said genially. Then he headed out, determined to find a comfy tree against which to lean and read up on the meaning of his Essence cycles.
Summer just kept getting closer, and Ellie could not wait. She hastily stuffed her things back into her bag. "See you, Hadley. And have fun in Florida." At that convention. Wherever Florida was. If it was even real. If the convention was even real.
And with that, the sixth year left the room. To loiter outside the door for her boyfriend. Because she could probably intercept him before he burrowed himself away in his studies, if that was his plan for the rest of the day. It was just unhealthy. She'd be doing him a favor.
