Right, she needed her mortar and pestle. She picked both up and made sure they were clean with Scourgify. Next, she took the four snake fangs and placed them in the mortar. She began to crush them with the pestle, until she had a fine powder. She carefully sprinkled the powder into the cauldron. Next, the cinnamon was grated over the potion. Amelia breathed it all in, and it smelled good from the cinnamon. She loved cinnamon. :33 Quote:

Raven took her mortar and pestle. Then she cleaned it and she put four snake fangs into the mortar. She crushed it with the pestle until it became fine powder. After that she sprinkled it into her cauldron. After she had done with the snake-fang powder, she took the cinnamon, grated it and put it into her cauldron. She looked at her note. Salt? She slightly frowned when she saw salt at the ingredients. Was it a potion class or cooking class? |

One...two...three...four...five When he was finished with the drops, the metal spoon was carefully dipped into the liquid and used to stir it counterclockwise as directed. One...two...three...four...five...six. Quote:
He then cleaned the metal instrument once more before switching to the honey. Another ingrediant sure to cling to the spoon undoubtedly adding to the time needed. But then Professor Lafay was telling them to take their time. So spooning out each tablespoon one at a time, the Gryffindor hung it over the cauldron gingerly, letting it slowly dribble not splash into the potion. Finally when all three tablespoons had been added he could move on, setting aside the honey with the toothpaste tube. Quote:
SPOILER!!: Ingrediants List The Gryffindor then updated his notes and marked on the ingrediants already done with as he awaited the next steps. So far so good which was always a good sign, though Gideon wasn't about to let his guard down. |
SPOILER!!: The Professor Alyssa sat up when Professor Lafay started speaking and watched when she demonstrated what the next steps of making the potion were. Once the Professor had said that they were to proceed, Alyssa pulled over her mortar, pestle and grater and placed them on the table next to her. She then took out her wand and said "Scourgify", first pointing at the mortar, then the pestle and grater. Cleanliness was definitely a good thing to make sure of and she wanted to make sure that all three were clean before she proceeded with the next steps. She inspected the mortar, pestle and grater to make sure that they were indeed clean before holstering her wand. Picking up four snake fangs with her gloved hands, Alyssa dropped them into the mortar and started to crush them with the pestle. She ground and ground until the snake fangs were crushed into fine powder. Alyssa then picked up the powder and slowly sprinkled into the cauldron until all the powder was gone, and then she picked up the grater and a cinnamon stick and grated it into the potion until the entire stick was added into the cauldron. It looked like the cinnamon stick would have filled an entire tablespoon as the ingredients list had indicated. The smell of cinnamon filled the air. Alyssa kept an eye on the potion brewing in her cauldron as she picked up her quill and updated her potions journal. Tayla noticed the smell instantly. The cinnamon gave it quite a nice scent. While waiting for the professor's next instructions, Tayla quickly added to her notes. SPOILER!!: Tayla's Potions Notebook |
Jory got out his mortar and pestle. "Scourgify!'' he said pointing his wand at it to get them clean. Satisfied with this he placed four snake fangs into the mortar and ground them into a fine powder. Jory carefully sprinkled the powder into the cauldron. Next, he grated the cinnamon stick over the potion. The Huffie inhaled deeply. He loved the smell of cinnamon. |
SPOILER!!: Lafay With a smile on his face of having guessed one of the ingredients correctly, Vickers proceeded to collect the materials for the potion. Setting those down on his work area he then scourgified his cauldron, then cast Aguamenti to fill it up. He cast Incedio next, making sure his flame was strong enough to heat the pot without going out of control. He went through his list of ingredients, adding them in just as the Professor was demonstrating. SPOILER!!: Vickers' parchment |

She still hoped they weren't going to have to ingest the potion once it was completed, with what had already been added. At least the cinnamon didn't seem disgusting, kind of like the toothpaste and honey. The more normal ingredients, and she Scourgified her grater while she made sure she had a cinnamon stick. Once that was complete, she picked up the stick and held it over the potion with one hand while she used her other to grate. And she tried to make sure she didn't inadvertently add more than the tablespoon the potion needed. That was a bit harder than she thought it would be, but at least everything smelled cinnamon-y right now. That was better than bubotuber pus. SPOILER!!: Stella's potions journal |
Even though in some way Laura wanted to mess about, she knew that Potions wasn't the place to do it because it would have been very dangerous and Laura didn't want to get into huge trouble and so she just listened to the Professor carefully and then did what she was instructed to do. |
Kurumi's potion was bubbling a lot more than the others around her and was sort of giving off an eerie looking purple smoke that sort of went by unnoticed if you were not looking carefully - which the Gryffindor was not - and instead had her eyes focused on her mortar and pestle as she attempted to grind her fangs into powder. When she eventually got it into a powder, mostly anyway, Kurumi sprinkled it in and then reached for her cinnamon stick to begin grating it into the cauldron. *ACHOO* Cinnamon had such a strong smell...Kurumi liked it the smell, especially since it reminded her of baking, but grating it all fresh like this and in such close proximity to her nose was making her sneeze. SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment |

Snake fangs... Now where had she put the snake fangs... Seeing as she was supposedly so good at Potions, she should probably have these on hand, too. Blah. Finally spotting them, she dumped all four into the mortar then began crushing them with the pestle. Once crushed, she sprinkled them into the mixture then grated a cinnamon stick into the mixture, as well. All done. For now anyway. |

Cinnamon stick? Janice thought. I LOVE THOSE!! Janice smelled the cinnamon, trying to remember her grandma's smell before grating it into the cauldron. She smiled. |
Right. So the next step was to crush snake fangs. So, taking four of them from her plastic container, Elise dropped them into her clean mortar and began to crush. Crush. Crush. One she was done, she sprinkd it into the cauldron, leaving it powdery across the surface. Once that was done, she took her grater thing and held it over the cauldron.Crush. And retrieving one stick of cinnamon, she grated it into the potion. Grate. Grate. Grate. |
SPOILER!!: brewbrewbrew Well Well Well... everyone was brewing silently. Good. "Alright. Chop up the whole clove of garlic, and then crush it with the flat of the blade. Then you will want to add it to the cauldron." She did just as she said, using her finger to remove any access from her knife. "Use the same grater for the lemon zest that you did for the cinnamon. You won't need to clean it. Grate two cups of it and add it to the cauldron. Then let it simmer for fifteen minutes. Then ready your wands." She said and took hers from her sleeve. |

Amelia carefully watched as Professor Lafay demonstrated the next step in the process of making this potion. Then she picked up her knife and made sure to clean it with Scourgify before chopping the clove of garlic. She began to hum as she worked. As soon as she had the clove chopped well enough, she crushed it all with the flat of her knife. She added it all to the cauldron. Now it was time for the lemon zest. Picking up the grater she had used for the cinnamon, she carefully grated out two cups of it before adding it to the potion as well. Now to wait for 15 minutes as it simmers. Quote:

SPOILER!!: Professor Lafay Alyssa immediately sat up straight the moment the Professor started speaking again. She listened and watched as the Potions Professor demonstrated the next steps into making the potion. Then it was their turn to do so. Alyssa picked up her knife and her measuring cup and placed both on her work desk. Taking out her wand she first cleaned them using the "Scourgify" spell, and then inspected both the cup and the knife to make sure that they were both clean before holstering back her wand. She then picked up the whole clove of garlic and crushed it using the flat blade of her knife. She pressed on it as hard as she could to make sure that the entire clove was crushed and then added the crushed up clove of garlic to her potion. As she did that, Alyssa noticed that there was some garlic smeared on her knife, so she used her finger, to wipe off the remaining garlic from the blade and let it drip into her cauldron. Next she picked up the lemon zest and her grater and grated the lemon zest into her measuring cup. When she had grated 2 cups worth of lemon zest, she added them to the potion in her cauldron. Now it was time for her to let it simmer for 15 minutes. As she watched the time tick off on her watch, Alyssa quickly picked up her quill and added the steps she had completed into her Potions Journal. Text Cut: Alyssa's Potion's Journal Text Cut: Steps to make potion Then she put down her quill and unholstered her wand and waited for the Professor to speak again. |
After cleaning his knife, Jory chopped up the garlic glove after which he crushed the pieces with the flat blade. He added them to the caldron. He grabbed the lemon and carefully grated two cups of zest. After the cup fulls were added to the caldron, Jory let it simmer for the fifteen minutes. He got out his wand and waited for Professor Lafay to give the next set of instructions. |
Raven took a clove of garlic and her knife. After she made sure that her knife was clean enough, she started to chop the garlic and crushed it. Ugh, Garlic.. She never like the smell of garlic. Then she added it into her cauldron. Then grated the lemon zest and added it into her cauldron. She needed to wait it simmer for 15 minutes and her wand. She took her wand from her robe and waited for the last step. |

Sorry >_< lots of catch-up! SPOILER!!: Parchment Zhenya made sure to listen carefully to the next steps. After adding the Bubertuber pus, she used a metal spoon and stirred it six times counter-clockwise. Okay, she counted individually until it was stirred all six times! She then heard the next one, and reached out to get the toothpaste. She wanted to brush her teeth because it smelled so minty. She put a generous amount of the toothpaste onto a metal spoon and put it in the cauldron, stirring it around 30 times until the toothpaste all came off the spoon. Next was honey, messy yummy honey! She listened to Professor Lafay as she instructed them not to rush, and to add the honey onto the spoon and let it drip into the cauldron. She held it about six inches from the cauldron. It didn't take too long to drop off the spoon, and she did it another two times. That made 3! Zhenya pulled out her mortar and pestle and cleaned it with the "Scourgify" spell. She measured the 4 snake fangs into the cauldron and crushed them up briskly until they formed a fine powder. Then she sprinkled it over her cauldron. Once she had done that she said "Scourgify" to clean her mortar and pestle again, and got her cinnamon stick and her grater. She grated it over the cauldron, and took a nice big smell of it. She stayed listening to Professor Lafay for the next instruction. Right, garlic. Oh, one of her favourite smells! It always reminded her of her grandparents home in Russia. She got a whole clove and got her knife and cut it up roughly. Then she got the blade of her knife and crushed the garlic, until it was a nice paste, almost. She scooped it off her board and put it into the cauldron, and scraped the excess off. Next was the Lemon Zest. Mmm, she thought about lemon tarts! Oh, it's potions, not cooking, she told herself. She was glad she forgot to clean the grater, because she didn't need to. She held it over a measuring phial and crated 2 cups worth of Lemon Zest, then added it to her potion. Whilst she waited for 15 minutes whilst it simmered, she cleaned her equipment, re-organised the ingredients she had been using and cleaned her bench. |
catching up Sky grabbed her mortar and pestle and gave them a quick Scorgify. Placing the snake fangs inside the mortar, she ground them into a fine powder and sprinkled them into her cauldron. She then picked up a stick of cinnamon and a grater and grated cinnamon into the mixture. She chopped up garlic, crushed it as directed and into the cauldron it went. Grabbing the grater again, she grated two cups of lemon zest and dumped that into her cauldron. After letting her potion simmer for the required fifteen minutes, Sky pulled out her wand and waited for the next set of instructions. |
Removing the outer layers on her garlic and banishing them, Kurumi chopped up the clove coarsely before laying the blade against it and pressing down. One thing about garlic that Kurumi did not like was how strong the smell was and that once you got it on your fingers the stench lingered there for what seemed like an eternity. With everyone chopping up garlic, the classroom smelled like a bad Italian restaurant and made it even more difficult for Kurumi to concentrate. Once her garlic was...whatever it was, Kurumi scooped it up with her blade and dropped it into the cauldron. It fizzled and bubbled instantly...which Kurumi wasn't sure was a good or bad thing. The color of hers was different from everyone else's. MEEP... Deciding to continue to plug along, Kurumi grated the lemon over the grater and caught the bits with her measuring cup. Did it matter that juices were getting in it? Because it was and she was making a mess at her station. Once she had two cups of lemon She might need to find herself a temporary tutor. As the clock ticked down, Kurumi waved her wand over the mess of a station, casting Scourgify over the area, and then waited for whatever it was that was coming next. SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment |
Right. So, cleaning the blade of her knife, Elise began to chop the garlic clove thinly. Moving quickly, she finished the whole clove in a few swift movements. Picking the knife up, she pressed the flat of the silver blade to the slices. The, she added it to the potion, making sure to get all the excess into the liquid. Turning to the grater, she picked up her wand. "Scour-" Oh, right they idn't have to. Pocketing her wand, she picked up the grater and held it over a bowl. Grating the zest, she didn't stop until she had exactly two cupfuls. Adding it to the cauldron, she allowed it to simmer. Fifteen minutes sure seemed like forever... |
