Ella copied down the ingredients in her notebook and then headed over to gather the ingredients she would need. Once she had gotten everything she needed from the cupboard, she returned to her seat and placed everything neatly on the table. She took out her wand and pointed it at her cauldron, remembering she needed to clean it before she used it for something new. Once the cauldron was clean, she placed her wand down again and waited for further instructions. SPOILER!!: Ingredients |
Ah...now for the actual potions work. Gideon looked up at the board as Professor Lafay revealed with a point of her wand the true, complete list of ingrediants for the potion. The Gryffindor writing it all down in his notes for reference, thinking back on the reasons for some of them that had been given during the discussion. Quote:

Kurumi STARED at the board. Toothpaste? They were going to use toothpaste? Was it at least bubblegum toothpaste? Kurumi really didn't care for the mint types. Writing down the list of ingredients from the board on her parchment, Kurumi took it with her to the supply cabinet and grabbed each item before returning to her seat and setting them out in a neat row in front of her. SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment Once she was satisfied with her set up, Kurumi removed her wand from her pocket and pointed it at the inside of her cauldron. "Scourgify," she commanded, casting the spell twice since it was unusually dusty on the inside for some reason. Once her cauldron was all clean, Kurumi set it on the burner and waited. Toothpaste and bubertuber pus...gross.... |
Sky gathered the ingredients needed for the potion, hoping they weren't going to have to swallow the stuff. Didn't sound like it tasted pleasant at all. She went back to her station and began setting up her potion. "Scourgify!" she said, her wand pointing at her cauldron. Then, she filled the the cauldron with water and set it on the burner. |
Alyssa quickly noted down the ingredients of the Potion into her Potions journal as the Professor had written down on the board. Text Cut: Alyssa's Potions Journal Looking at the list in her journal she went to the supply cabinet and took out the ingredients, minus the water, that she would need to make the potion. Bringing them back to her workstation, she placed them on her desk and arranged them in the order that she would need them. Now it was time to prepare her cauldron. Taking out her wand she pointed it inside her cauldron and said "Scourgify" to clean her cauldron because that was one of the important Cs of Potion making. She inspected it to make sure that there it was absolutely clean and that there were no cracks. Once she made sure that the cauldron was ready for potion making, she placed it back on the burner and then sat back and waited for further instructions. |
Sophie didn't know anything about pimples and this kind of nasty stuff. She was glad she didn't have any problems with that kind of thing... yuck. And... YUUUCK! The potion seemed gross as well! Blargh! Sophie was really glad she didn't have skin problems now...! With a disgusted face, she got her quill and started writing. Text Cut: Parchment She stared at the list for a moment and blinked a couple of times. Yuck. Sophie then went to retrieve the ingredients from the cupboard. When she got back to her seat, she placed everything around her cauldron before pointing her wand at it. "Scourgify." She tried not to think about some of the ingredients she had just gotten and hoped she would never have to use this potion. Ever. |

Text Cut: Professor Lafay At least she hadn't been way off with her guess, even if witch hazel wasn't apparently an ingredient. Stella had been honestly worried that Professor Lafay would have said she was crazy or something, but then maybe getting married had agreed with the professor. She was certainly acting nicer than expected, which made her almost relax. The only thing keeping her from really relaxing was the feeling that things could change at a moment's notice, which was why she quietly copied down the ingredients into her potions journal as they'd been instructed to start gathering everything up to start brewing. Then, once she'd finished, she stood up and headed over to the storage cupboard, bringing her journal with her so she wouldn't forget anything. Of course, that made it a bit more interesting getting it all back to her workstation, but somehow, she managed it. Setting everything down, she arranged it essentially in order as per the ingredients list, figuring that might make things easier once they started brewing. Anything that could help her from being too on edge seemed like a good idea right about now, and once that was done she applied herself to preparing her cauldron. Eyeing it, she took her wand out and cast Scourgify, making sure every speck of dust got cleaned away. And then she cast it once again, just as an extra precaution. Something told her having an absolutely clean cauldron was even more important when brewing potions for things like this. SPOILER!!: Stella's potions journal |

"Scourgify." Then she saw her note. Ewww.. the potion seemed... disgusting. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Lafay Tayla was happy to see both her answers - bubertuber pus and a citrus fruit - included in the list. She quickly jotted down the ingredients then stood up and took what she needed. Arriving back in her place and still carrying the ingredients, she first pointed her wand towards her working table and said, "Scourgify." Once the table was clean, Tayla set the ingredients carefully on it. She then pointed her wand to her cauldron and performed the Scouring Charm again. Her cauldron clean as well, Tayla decided to wait for instructions before starting a fire for the burner. |
Text Cut: Professor As the potions professor started class, Lily started to write in her notebook. She made sure to include the list of ingredients. Now it was time to go get their things, so the ravenclaw made her way over to the cupboard and gathered her ingredients. After bringing them back over to her work station, she got out her cauldron and set to work cleaning it. This seemed like an odd list of ingredients in one potion...and wasn't toothpaste harmful if swallowed?? |

SPOILER!!: Droo Elise grinned widely as her answer was written on the board. She'd gotten it right! And Lafay hadn't yelled at anyone... yet. Copying the list down, Elise bounded off to take the ingredients from the cupboard and separated them into the little plastic containers she always brought for potions. Wait, toothpaste? Taking the mint flavoured one, she shrugged. Hopefully, it'd hide the taste of Buttober Pus. |
Amelia couldn't help but feel happy that her guess of garlic had been correct. She couldn't remember the last time that had ever happened to her in this class. Smiling, she recorded the ingredients into her notebook: Quote:

Oh, ginger wasn't one of the ingrediants they would be using? That was disappointing. It was at least a consolation that Professor Lafay had agreed that it was an anti-flammatory, which made the Gryffindor smile. His grandma was right. Walking over to the store cabinet to retrieve the supplies he had just written down in his notebook, he wondered to himself how snake fangs fixed pimples. He would just have to find out. Once he had returned, Auggie layed out each ingrediant neatly along the table top and then turned to his cauldren, pointing his wand at it. "Scorgify." He watched it become clean again and then waited for the go ahead to presume. SPOILER!!: Auggie's Parchment |
SPOILER!!: Future Potioneers "For all of you who've cleaned your cauldrons, please fill them with water," she said before filling her own with it, "and light an intense, high fire underneath it. Be careful..." she said glaring at the crowd, "it needs to be intense, but not large... we can't have any accidents." She wasn't going to be explaining fire deaths to the Headmaster... ... Unless it was Oliver or William... |

Sky filled her cauldron with water, making sure it wasn't too full. Then she set the cauldron on the burner. "Incendio," she cast, focusing on making the spell intense but not set anything on fire. After successfully casting the spell, she took a look around. Nope, nothing on fire… |
Waving her wand over her cauldron again, Kurumi cast Aguamenti to fill her cauldron with water and then pointed it towards her burner. "Incendio," she whispered, conjuring a flame from her wand before adjusting the amount of heat manually. Hopefully that level heat was appropriate... Attention back to her parchment, Kurumi jotted down the steps she had taken and attempted to keep an eye on the flame as she did. Her mind was still wandering quite a bit this lesson...this probably wasn't going to end well. SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment |
SPOILER!!: Parchment After having already retrieved the listed ingredients, Zhenya had pulled her cauldron up and set it up on her bench. She pulled out her wand, muttered Scourgify to clean the cauldron, then waited briefly to hear the rest of Professor Lafay's instructions. She was quite frightened of fire and hesitated a minute before she lit a flame. It was small, really small, so she had to increase it. She did it extremely slowly so that she wouldn't explode the classroom because that was what she was afraid of. |

When Professor Lafay began to talk again,Amelia's attention was brought back to her. She nodded. That seemed simple enough to her. She pointed her wand at the cauldron and said "Aguamenti," watching at the cauldron filled with water. When there was enough, she stopped it with a simple, "Finite." That was half of her first step completed. After checking to make sure there were no leaks from her cauldron, she pointed her wand at the burner. "Incendio." A flame was lit, and she adjusted it until it was as required. Now to wait for the next instructions. Quote:

SPOILER!!: Journal Glenn hurriedly scribbled the ingredients in her journal and got up to fetch them from the cupboard. The Hufflepuff returned to her desk and dumped them down on it. "Scourgify!" Her cauldron's dirt She muttered the water charm and filled up her cauldron quickly. Now the Incendio charm. The badger hadn't really tried this one... "Incendio." Glenn said, trying to copy what the others were doing but overshot it a little bit. She didn't light the room on fire but she did burn her hand. "Ouch!" She cursed, rubbing her hand. Well, at least she had done the fire right. Glenn ignored her throbbing hand and waited for the professor's next instructions. |
An intense, high fire...got it. Gideon took out his wand to move on with the activity, moving smoothly quite used to the procedure. "Aguamenti," he cast aiming inside his cauldron, watching it fill up to a decent amount before ending the jet of water with a quiet "Finite." That done, he moved his aim to the burner beneath the cauldron. "Incendio," the Gryffindor cast, doing his best to focus his energies to a small area so it had the desired effect on the flame like Professor Lafay instructed. Gideon then sat back and patiently awaited the water to warm and the next step to be told. |
After she had cleaned the cauldron, Raven filled it with the water. "Aguamenti." then "Finite." after her cauldron was enough for this potion. What's next? She casted the fire. "Incendio!" A small flame sshot from her wand. Well, she thought it was enough. Then she waited for the next step. |
