Amelia was about to say bubotuber pus when she was beaten to it. Now she needed to think of something a little outside of the box. She raised her hand. "What about garlic? I heard it can be used as a home remedy against pimples." It was worth a shot. |
Alyssa quickly went up and took some of the chocolate that the Professor was giving out before returning to her workstation. She thought about what the possible ingredients before raising her hand,"Professor could the pus from the Bubotuber be one of the ingredients? I heard it has been helpful in curing acne before. Or could we use Grapefruit Seed extract too?" |

His eyes went wide open as if he was looking at a sort of heaven and looked up at the Professor with the same .......was there a sort of , i don't know, surprise thing later? Because this IS the scary potions professor right? Pffft who cared! HE HAD CHOCOLATE~ Daichi held the basket close to his chest and took a bar of chocolate from it, unwrapping the paper and took a bite. "Professor? what about cucumbers?" he asked with his mouthful of chocolate "Because my m-mother used that on her skin when she was still ali--nevermind." Frowning, the Slytherin sighed deeply before looking shocked, again. Wait...share?! His head snapped up at the mention of sharing the chocolate. No way! This was his now! He clutched the basket closer to him and tried to glare at the other students as if to say. My chocolate! MINE! They had already stolen HIS awesome duck feet slipper fashion in Astronomy when Roslund had decided to give the class a pair of his slippers but no way he was giving away the chocolate! |
Oh chocolate! Sky didn't care that it probably had stuff in it that would probably make them break them break out faster, when the basket came around to her she took a bar. "Thank you, professor." She opened the bar and took a bite. "Could the potion have green tea in it?" Sky said after swallowing. She had heard that the tea was good for skin, but she couldn't remember how… |

Really... a pimple curing potion... Lily didn't expect that coming from a bar of chocolate. But she raised her hand anyway to give an ingredient that she figured would be in most potions. "Do you need water, or at least some form of liquid?" Lily replied in a sentence/question manner. |
Jory raised his hand. "Er...I think maybe lime juice can also be used,'' he said frowning as he tried to remember if it was lime or lemon juice he'd seen in the newspapers a very long time ago when he'd been reading on the benefits of one of the citrus fruits. |
Rising her hand, she grinned. This was something she knew, although she'd never actually had pimples yet. Her mother'd done this honey-mask thingy and said that it was for pimples, and her sister used it. So it HAD to work! "Perhaps honey, professor," she smiled. "My mother used to tell me that it cured pimples naturally." Lowering her hand, she proceeded to jot down everyone else's answers in her book. |
Vickers' eyes widens. Nuptials to the Minister? Professor Lafay got married? His eyes darts to the Professor's hand and the jewelry that adorns it. Well heck it never struck him that the pretty trinkets had a deeper meaning to it. His eyes goes from the Professor to the Slytherin girl the Professor always calls Ms Greingoth. He had always wondered how she was related to the Minister aka his Uncle's Boss. But now with Lafay being technically Mrs Greingoth... Yes be nice to his Uncle's Boss' Wife. Not that he has ever been anything but polite to her, but now he realized that if he ever ticks her off the wrong way it can impact on his uncle. That goes for that Slytherin girl just in case she might be family too. The Ravenclaw focuses back onto his parchment, keeping silent on the initial question on chocolate and its effects on the skin. He doesnt know of any such problems like breaking out (he was a boy after all) and all he remembers is some anecdote about how an ancient civilization would coat themselves with it from head to toe as some kind of beauty regimen. But now he raises his hand on the guesses for the ingredients "Professor, would it have Snake Fangs? Its one of the ingredients found in Boil Cures." |
So it was true? Chocolate caused pimples? Glenn thought she'd better pay close attention in this lesson then. She ate chocolate all the time but hadn't ever gotten pimples. Glenn self consciously brushed the hair from her forehead. Maybe once she got older she would get them. Ugh. She raised her hand, "Would you include tomatos? I heard some muggle woman use a mask of tomato sauce to keep their skin nice." |
Errr... Raven was thinking hard about the ingredients. She remembered that her mom had ever brew a Potion for pimple too.. But.. What were the ingredients? "Professor." she said while she raised her hand "How about aloe vera extract?" she said. |
Stella usually stayed pretty quiet during the discussion portion of the Potions lessons, merely as a self-defense mechanism left over from her belief that she wasn't very good at the subject. She still thought the only reason she'd done well so far during her time at Hogwarts was due to following Professor Lafay's instructions and demonstrations exactly, but that wasn't exactly something that could be applied to discussions. Just actual brewing, but for some reason, she found herself raising her hand about the current question. "Could witch hazel be an ingredient? Or witch hazel extract? That's supposed to be a Muggle treatment for acne, I believe," she said, still unable to avoid making it seem like a question. She couldn't help it if she was unsure, even if there was logic behind the suggestion. |
While listening to everyone's answers, Gwendolyn made a few notes on her piece of parchment. She thought of two possible ingredients... flobberworm mucus, because that was used in many potion to help it thicken and nettle... because it was some sort of a healing plant. 'Nettles, perhaps?', she finally said after having raised her hand. Although, what everyone else suggested made more sense, as many ingredients that were mentioned were used by Muggles. This time, Gwen was a bit sorry she knew nothing about Muggles, unlike many of her classmates. Hmph. After having said that, the third year waited patiently for Professor Lafay's reply. Hmm... was it still Lafay?, she thought, but then tried focusing on the lesson. |
Aurora eyed the white chocolate bars... she didn't really like white chocolate - she preferred the dark stuff... melted over strawberries when possible - so she didn't take a bar. "Professor, honey is anti-bacterial or something, could that be in the potion?" she said. Now honey was something she did like... drizzled over pancakes... or on toast... or just on a teaspoon... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... this lesson was making her so hungry. |

Laura then answered the next question. "Maybe some chocolate will be in there?" |
Minerva wasn't sure what was in the potion. She tried to think of things that had been in potions before, but couldn't think of anything. So she just opened her parchment and began to take notes on what others were saying. |
Kurumi and Daichi too :D Quote:
The next moment she was quite distracted anyway...by the chocolate that that Slytherin was allowed to take. Her narrowed dark eyes followed the Slytherin carefully while many evil ideas about getting all the chocolate for herself appeared in her mind yet, as usual, Kurumi's voice took all her attention. Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh... As usual she was talking like a real swot. Lea wanted to throw something at the annoying prefect's head but she failed to find something suitable so she just gave her a glare instead... ...before deciding to answer the potions bride's question. ''Something to peel the skin perhaps. Like acid!!!'' |
So chocolate DID supposedly help to cause acne in teens? Perhaps Magical cholcoate was worse? The Gryffindor was in the middle of wondering if anyone had decided to test that theory when Professor Lafay had asked them the second question, what could be in the curing potion. "Perhaps Professor, ginger may be in it because it's a herbal anti-inflammatory?" He knew it was for certain because his grandmother always talked about it. |
*protects chocolate O_O* Quote:
The third year Slytherin looked around the classroom as the other students answered and suddenly he got the feeling he was being watched. Turning his head, Daichi frowned a little when he didn't see anyone, well he did see a few students but none of them were looking. Strange... he could have sworn someone had been staring at him. Turning back around, he shrugged it off and took another big bite. |
Ella thought about that, what would go in the potion. She raised her hand, knowing what she was going to say would sound weird. "Professor, my gram told my cousin to put some toothpaste on his pimples. Would something minty go in the potion?" This of course was a long shot, Gram often thought of wild remedies that didn't always work well and usually ended in some sort of doctors visit. |
Sierra had just about to share either green tea or aloe vera, when two other students beat her to it She fixed a nasty-looking glare on both of them as she raised her hand, ready to share something else instead. "Carrots," she said with a shrug. "They have vitamin A in them, which supposedly protects your skin tissue and prevents acne." It was her next best guess after green tea and aloe vera. As she lowered her hand, she turned toward the Puffer who'd lost ten points. She grinned just a little. Why hadn't she lost points, as well? Because she hadn't actually said anything rule-breaking out loud. Duh, Puffer Girl. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Lafay "So that's why she's been in such a good mood lately," Tayla thought, smiling because she was genuinely happy for her professor. Tayla watched as Professor Lafay took out chocolates and distributed them. Her eyes grew wide. Tayla loved chocolates! "Pimples..." Tayla mumbled when the professor asked her first question. That was what her parents constantly reminded her about every time she took a bite of chocolate. That didn't stop her though. They were just too good! And Tayla's mum, who was a healer, often had something in handy when a nasty pimple would erupt. Hearing Professor Lafay's next question, Tayla raised her hand. "There would be bubotuber pus included, Professor," she answered as she took some white chocolate for herself. "It's effective in curing acne." Tayla thought some more. "And perhaps citrus fruits like oranges? Vitamin C is a useful treatment, too." |

Sean sat there, he didn't want to eat any chocolate, he was still embarrassed to eat in front of girls and strangers. So he sat quietly and thought about what might be in a potion for pimples. He thought about some things his muggle friends tried over last break, since they were starting to reach that age. Sean raised his hand and answered, "Would there possibly be any aloe?" He knew it worked on sunburns and it couldn't be a bad guess. |

"You are all partially right." she said nodding, "Everything that you've mentioned helps breakouts in some way, but not everything is in our potion." She moved to the board and pointed at it with her wand: Ingredients
"Please go retrieve these ingredients from the cupboard, and begin preparing your cauldrons." She said, then turned to Daichi and said angrily "Katharos! I said. Share." |
