Hecate had brought a tray with a few items on them. Flowers, Shellfish, Strawberries, peanuts and other things. Her large cauldron was seated on it's burner, which was not lit, before her.
She was in a good enough mood. Things were going well in her personal life. She just needed to get used to certain things... that would come with time. She opened the classroom, and waited for her students to file in.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!
OH! Anti-allergy potion, maybe? Cool... Aurora didn't have any allergies... none that she knew of anyway. She was lucky in that respect - being the only one in her house who didn't suffer from hayfever. Wait, you could be allergic to strawberries??? Wow... unlucky... imagine not being able to eat strawberries and cream and scones in the summer. That must suck.

Amelia was glad that she didn't have any allergies like Zayden, who was allergic to both shellfish AND a lot of animals. She just shook her head and sat back in her seat, waiting for the next part of the lesson.
... someone needed a hair cut. "Prefect Escalante. I have." She said now.
"Class has now begun." She said closing the door. "Anyone else allergic to something in this room? Come up and Identify it." She said watching the class.
He nodded and then took out a quill and parchment. Kennedy glanced at the table in front of the class and tapped his chin. Thankfully, he hasn't had to deal with allergies in his life so far. He didn't even know how it felt to have allergies personally.
So, he sat there while thinking of what he could possibly be allergic to, but he doubted he was...maybe.

Hmm...Hannah wasn't allergic to anything that she was aware of. Maybe those super bubbly perky do gooders aka puffs, but she was sure that was not what the professor was asking about so she decided to keep that thought to herself. She sat quietly and waited for the weak to get through telling the professor about their allergies.
Laura looked at the Professor, she had no idea if she was allergic to anything so well they would have to find out later, hopefully she wasn't because if she was and the Professor didn't know she had this feeling this Professor would take points off her for not telling her.

Sierra's head turned sharply toward the door, and she immediately fixed an intense glare on the Puffer who'd randomly asked Lafay about her love life. Her gaze followed the girl around the room until she sat down, and even then, Sierra glared at her for a split second longer before looking away.

She peered at the tray in the front of the room. Corn? Nope, not up there. She sort of hated admitting she had an allergy--it was almost a weakness to her. Even so, she raised her hand anyway. "I'm allergic to corn," she offered. She didn't really like it that much anyway, though.

Presley'd never really thought about allergies, not having any. She never wondered what it was like, or talked to anybody about their allergies. It just was never a problem in her life. But as all of these people were coming forward and stating thier allergy, she felt a little left out. She thought mildly about inventing one, but what if Lafay wanted her to try whatever she claimed to be allergic to, so they could test a potion? No, better not lie. She just stayed where she was, and made a methodical list of all of the things people could be allergic to.
Sophie was impressed. So many of her classmates had allergies! She was glad she wasn't allergic to those things they were saying. Her allergies were not that bad. She raised her hand. "I'm just allergic to drastic weather changes." she has always thought that was kind of weird, but the fact that her dad had it too made her think it wasn't that strange after all.

Hmm.. Did a kid really ask Professor Lafay about her love life? Oh this kid definitely had nerve. Who would ever think to ask Professor Lafay about her love life? The blonde was expecting the poor kid to be thrown out of the class or sent to detention for a comment like that. But, Lafay only told the kid off. Phew, lucky kid. It seemed as if Lafay was in a good mood, which made Emma smile slightly. A good mood meant a fun Potions class, right?
Class had begun. Emma, sitting in at her desk quietly (in the second row), raised a blonde eyebrow as the Professor asked if they had any allergies. Was this some kind of Potion that they would be brewing or was Lafay simply just checking some medical conditions? Emma couldn't tell.
Was Emma allergic to anything? Not being able to play Quidditch of course, not eating candy, and not laughing. Yep those were her supposed 'allergies'. She shook her head silently. She wasn't allergic to anything. Lucky for her. "I'm not allergic to anything that I know of, Professor," she added.

He was also lucky he wasn't allergic to any animals either, although that really didn't matter much since he never planned on owning any animals except a Clabbert.
He raised his hand. "I'm a bit allergic to pollen as well, professor," he explained. Ah yes. Those lovely seasonal allergies. They didn't like him one bit. "But not very allergic...unless I rub them in my face or something, I'm usually ok," he added.
He regretted that a second after he said it. He didn't want to give her any ideas!

Alyssa was now embarrassed and mortified but she tried to forget for the moment what the Professor had implied.
Alyssa was wondering why her nose was itchy and eyes were watering but she couldn't figure out why. But when the Professor asked her question, she knew that it had something to do with the lesson they were going to be learning today.
So Alyssa raised her hand and stood up. "Professor, I am slightly allergic to certain specific cats. But I don't see any cats here in the room, so I shouldn't be having these allergies." Then Alyssa realized the tray that the Professor had brought in. There must be something 'cattish' in there. That's why her allergies were going haywire.

"Many people have allergies, and those of you who don't have them yet, you may develop some. Close your books and tell me, who knows what an allergy is?" She said and began petting her Mephisto.
Whoa! So many people had allergies! Ira hadn't known that. And some allergies were plain weird, at least that was what Ira thought. And one allergy that Ira would surely hate to have herself was an allergy to chocolate! She could not possibly survive without chocolate!
Then she looked up as Professor Lafay asked a question. What was an allergy? Yeah, Ira knew that..somewhat. She raised her hand up and answered, "Professor, allergy is.. when a person is oversensitive to something, I mean, it is an adverse response of our body to something which is generally harmless.." Because not everyone has an allergy, right?
Mo raised his hand timidly before speaking in a squeaky voice. "An allergy is when someone's body reacts violently to something... not necessarily dangerous, but when a person who is allergic to something comes into contact with that particular thing their body... sort of goes crazy. It releases chemicals that cause the person to get very ill and sometimes even die," he said. Yeah. He had had this explained to him MILLIONS of times through his life. He had even been urged to keep an epi pen in his pocket at all times, that is how violent HIS body reacted.
"Many people have allergies, and those of you who don't have them yet, you may develop some. Close your books and tell me, who knows what an allergy is?" She said and began petting her Mephisto.
Presley wasn't quite sure, but she did know that she didn't get points by staying silent, so she took a random stab at it. Raising her hand, "Is an allergy an adverse reaction a specific person's body has to something? Like your body trying to fight off something it doesn't think is good for you?" She asked. That sounded reasonable, but it was after all, just a guess.

Alyssa thought for awhile before she raised her hand and answered."Professor an allergy is something that happens when our body reacts to something or a substance that is normally harmless to somebody else. Like my allergic reaction to cat dander. Not everybody is allergic to it but somehow my body's immune system doesn't like it and is reacting to it.."
After closing his book Kennedy thought about the question. He had an idea of what it was. He's never really quite put so much thought on it since he wasn't allergic to anything...yet.
He raised his hand. "An allergy is when the body is triggered by a certain substance that causes a person to react to it by sneezing, getting a rash, watery eyes or other symptoms," he said. "Some allergies may also be dangerous." he finished.
He didn't expect that there will be a lot of people who allergic to nuts like him. Then he nodded his head when Professor Lafay said that nuts allergy can be quite deadly. Yup, he already experienced that. And that's not pretty.
Messer raised his hand before he answered the next question. "Allergy is a reaction of our immune system to something that does not bother most other people." he said. Well, that was his daddy said when he asked him about his reaction to the nuts.

Closing her book India just thought for a moment. Raising her hand she moved to answer the question, "Professor, an allergy is an immune response to something added to your local environment by either the scent of something or particles in the air or by eating it. Typically it can be damaging however the damage level is also dependent on how severely your body typically responds to said thing." Yes she knew allergies. Her brother was allergic to Cucumbers of all things.

Zhenya raised her hand, and waited to say "Professor Lafay an allergy is something which causes someone to become hypersensitive. By that, their immune system begins a process to get rid of the allergy. For some reason the body has told itself that a certain thing is no good, which is where the immune system comes in. An allergen is usually something that others have no reaction to at all, but its just the types of antibodies the person has, and also what you said, it is related to what the person is exposed to which can develop into a reaction," she said. She had learned a lot about allergens and the different types of reactions someone can have when she saw a friend collapse and almost die when she unknowingly ate a peanut. So, Zhenya asked her father to explain it to her. She really felt bad for some of the other students.

Eino didn't have any allergies, at least none that he was aware of, but apparently it was possible he could develop them. That wasn't very reassuring, what if he was allergic to something he really liked, like dragons or thoughts? What if squibs were allergic to magic? Hmm, that was a good theory worth looking into. "Allergy..." He began with his hand high in the air. "Is when your body doesn't like something so it swells and boils in response to it, to reject it. If you don't heed the body's warning, it could be very dangerous. Very clever the body is." Eino wished everything would respond so cleverly to things they didn't like. It was awfully confusing receiving vague messages in the case of people.

Develop allergies? Sky sure hoped she wouldn't. They sounded awful! She snapped her book shut and thought for a second. She knew the symptoms of an allergy but what actually it was, she was absolutely clueless. So, she decided to go for her own definition of an allergy. "It's what happens when something in a person's immune system messes up and thinks something that's not really dangerous, like pollen, is dangerous," she said, hoping that made at least some sense (it had when she was thinking it).
