Hecate had brought a tray with a few items on them. Flowers, Shellfish, Strawberries, peanuts and other things. Her large cauldron was seated on it's burner, which was not lit, before her.
She was in a good enough mood. Things were going well in her personal life. She just needed to get used to certain things... that would come with time. She opened the classroom, and waited for her students to file in.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!

Kimalia knew this moment would come.. Frankly she didn't want to eat those nuts, since the first and last time she did it did not end well. But she had to in order to continue. If anything, Professor Lafay would come to her rescue if her potion was wrong.. She walked over and grabbed a handful of those peanuts and took it back to her seat waiting for her cauldron to cool. She wished it would hurry, her hand was very slowly turning red.
Finally it cooled, she took a cupful but didn't drink it yet. Ugh.. here goes. Putting the nuts in her mouth she began to try chewing... AHHHH!! HOT! HOT! HOT! Immediately, her mouth opened as she tried to let the heat out. It was like fire ants were dancing on her tongue as soon as it made contact. Now she had the deep urge to run that grater on her itching lips. *Chew* Chew* *Chew* *Chew* *Swallow* *GULP* It wasn't getting any better at all, and the room now felt extremely hot. Now was the best time to drink the solution.
Taking a big gulp of the potion, she could feel the coolness start to flow down her tongue, smacking her lips a bit so it could take away the itching. It didn't work immediately, but with enough time all the side effects vanished. Phew! Breathing deeply, though Kimalia was normal again, it felt like she had ran a few hundred miles.
Selina was thrilled that Lafay had told them all to let the cauldron brew. Brewing potions was the most painful part of Selina's class load every year. Potions did not agree with her stomach or her hair, which had a tendency to frizz whenever she was in the midst of brewing a potion. The entire lesson Selina had been trying her hardest to keep up and not throw up, but as it progressed it was becoming increasingly more and more difficult. Now that they were done though Selina was pleasantly surprised. Nothing had blown up on her; of course, her potion did not look anything like the rest of the classes.... eh whatever.
So she did as she was told and like the rest of the class went to the front of the class to collect vial of the allergy inducing potion. Then, like the rest of her peers, she went around to see what would make her have an allergic reactions... nuts! No literally, it was nuts.
Follow the 5 Cs of potionmaking (color, concentration, care, cleanliness and content)> Scourgify cauldron
Fill cauldron with water
Add the valerian root and salamander blood, one drop at a time, alternating between the two
Add the dock leaves to mortar and crush
Break frozen ashwinder egg into mortar, then add 4 sprigs fluxweed
Add mixture from mortar into cauldron
Add the 10 drops Murtlap Essence (stir eight times counter clockwise), then loosely crush two parsley sprigs above the cauldron adding the flakes as they fall.
Pull Wooden Spoon & Add three spoonfuls of raw honey
Take 5 Basil Leaves slice them w/ Silver Knife (cleaned knife...make it as thin as you can)
Stab whole papaya with same silver knife stuff basil in papaya's wounds (keep this up until you ad all the basil into the papaya) then add to the mixture.
Take Ginger Root & grate over cauldron - let simmer for five minutes.
Thinly Slice the Reishi Mushroom (use "Difindo") then add to cauldron
After adding mushroom wave wand over the Cauldron fast strinking oblique motion and cast the spell casting the spell "Sanum"
:carrot:
India took her freshly cleaned grater and the ginger root in hand and began to grate it over the Cauldron. There, that was good the Ginger was not all grated and fully in the cauldron. Perfect.
Summoning the mushroom as she waited and let the whole makings of the potion simmer she slowly began to chop the mushroom up into thin strips using simply her wand. There - it look perfect. Neat, clean cuts and just what the Doctor had ordered. When Five minutes had finally gone by she put her freshly cut mushroom bits into the cauldron. When they were all in the cauldron she made a fast strinking oblique motion with her wand as she cast the needed spell. "Sanum"hopefully this would all work. Right?
Then as she let her potion cool she listened to what Lafay had to say. Brilliant. The one thing - the one food she hadn't thought of earlier she now had to eat. Oooh she was going to turn red, blotchy, and start itching like a red bottom baboon and it's lovely grooming party. Perfect.
Glancing at the strawberries in the bowl at the front of the room she pulled out a cup of the potion.
Gagging and trying to spit it out as she drank she just swallowed. The burning ache of something she hadn't wanted to drink filled her stomach, throat, and mouth with the vile taste of bile. Standing up she walked forward and grabbed the delicate fruit.
If it hadn't had worked her hands would have been red and hivey already - so far they weren't. That was a start.

"Very good guys, you shouldn't be allergic to anything once you've taken the potion."
She breathed in and said "Homework. Write me 3 paragraphs on the immortality mushroom and it's properties. And then find someone who could use the potion and give them a vial. This is worth ten points and is due in exactly one week. You may finish testing your potions, but class is dismissed."

Oakey walked up to the front of the class ready to choose something to be allergic to. This is weird Oakey had a quick realization. Why would I ever choose to be allergic to something. He picked up the small vial and downed it. Then walked over to the table and ate a piece of chocolate. Delicious chocolate not that spicy hot chocolate he had given Hadley who then proceeded to give the whole Arithmancy class pieces of that disaster gift, that was just embarrassing for Oakey. He licked his lips then felt an itch come to his right arm. He itched at it furiously then noticed that he quickly developed bumps on his arm. Merlin! I've got hives! Oakey rushed back to his seat.
Sitting back down he started itching his left arm which had now developed a few hives on it. Oakey looked at his potion. It didn't seem cooled down just yet. Come on potion, I wish to be rid of these hives now!
He waited a few more minutes then scoped his cup into the potion. He didn't even bother with the awful taste that the potion sent down his throat. He'd drink swamp water if it got ride of these hives, and just as quickly as he developed the itch did it disappear all together.
Taking out his notebook, he listened one last time to Lafay as she described the homework and jotted it down.
India was still shocked that only one carrot had to be doodled today. Taking the little berry up she took a small tentative bite. It was actually - good? Wow she'd have never known otherwise as she had thuroughly finished testing her potion she decided to clean her work station and bottle some of the potion incase some fool had decided to avoid class and went into anipha-whatever-it-was-called-shock. She smiled cleaned the cauldorn out and stored everything in their proper places.
"Thank you Professor Lafay!" She smiled and glanced around the room for someone in need - wait? Here. No one would need it yet unless someone was given the silly tonic that gave you allergies.
Oooh that gave her a bad sinking feeling. Finishing cleaning up she made her way to the door said a polite goodbye to the Professor and made her way to her next class.

With the ginger root in one hand and a grater in another, Gideon made sure it was clean before starting to grate the root into his cauldron. He was careful to make sure all of it was added to his potion. That done, he sat back down on his stool to let it simmer as he worked on the other steps, glancing at his watch to mark the time the wait started until it needed to end.
His attention was turned back to Lafay as she showed them the next ingrediant, an item that looked familiar but he'd never been properly introduced before. So that's a reishi mushroom, he mused to himself jotting a few notes about it down in his work. Hearing what it was used for certainly gave a good reason it was kept in both his mothers and grandfather's gardens.
"Scorgify," Gideon cast again on his knife to clean before taking one of the mushrooms from the collection. He then started to slice them thinly as directed, completing one before moving on to the next and the next one after that until he had all of them completely sliced up. Putting down his knife, he added the mushrooms to the cauldron before taking up his wand.
"Sanum..." he cast mimicing the potions mistress' wand movement as best he could and hoping for the best. With the last step done, he set it aside to cool as directed, debating his next course of action as Professor Lafay explained what to do. Finally figuring he might as well take the potion to get a better, clearer reaction then a chance allergen from anything she had, the fifth year got up from his workstation to retrieve an offered vial of allergy-inducing potion. Downing it, Gideon then tested it out, only to start sneezing when he went for a plant.
"Guess its pollen..." he mused returning to his work to get away from the offending item. He was sure glad he wasn't allergic to it normally. As Lafay closed up class, he took the anti-allergy potion and finished up his notes as he awaited its effects, adding the homework at the end.

Class dismissed and homework again -_____-
"Thank you Professor." she said. Then she walked out from the classroom.

Alyssa took another empty vial out from her pocket and picking up her wooden spoon, scooped up some more of the mixture and poured it into her vial. She didn't know to whom she could give it to, but she was glad that she now had it with her. She cleaned her workstation, her cauldron and the utensils she had used by waving her wand over them and said "Scourgify". She then packed up her things and made her way to the Professor thanking her, "Thank you Professor for another interesting lesson. This potion will definitely come in handy for me." Alyssa told the Professor, before she left the classroom.
Kennedy grinned at the announcement of homework. Ch'yeah!
With a Scourgify here and there, he cleaned his work area and made sure that everything was spotless and just the way he found it. He tucked his notes into his bag and slung it over his shoulder. This was going to be an interesting homework.
"Thanks, Professor Lafay," he said, waving goodbye.

Stella was at least reassured that she wasn't going to be allergic anymore, even if she had to acknowledge to herself that Professor Lafay hadn't exactly answered her question. She still didn't quite know if she was going to develop the allergy again later, but then, she didn't usually eat a lot of shellfish anyway. Either way, it was the potion's fault if she had to deal with her throat closing up like that again in the future. She made sure to fill a couple vials with her potion before she cleaned up, though. It paid to be safe, and apparently she'd need one of the vials for homework. Finding someone around school that suffered from allergies and yet wasn't in this lesson might be a bit difficult, but she was going to try.
Vanishing what was left of her potion, she Scourgified her cauldron and wrote down the homework assignment before packing up her potions kit and her notes. Class was over, so she didn't need to stick around much longer. She had an essay to research. "Thank you, Professor," she said, as she stood up again. Gathering her things together, she gave the professor a smile, then headed out of the classroom. Another homework assignment, but at least this one might be harder to default onto using Matt. At least when it came to the potions use, since she wasn't sure if he had any allergies.

YEAH! But for how long????
She nodded noting down Lafay's due assignment in her Potions notebook, she headed out the door ''Emmm, thanks proffeser,'' It was actually ten times better when she wasn't criticizing someone and taking it out on the rest of class... actually it was defiantly her favorite class... Wow those were words that she had not dreamed to come from her mouth

"This red, heart shaped mushroom is called a reishi mushroom. It is nicknamed the mushroom of immortality because of its healing properties. Some muggles think it cures cancer, diabetes, liver problems... It depends on how it's used. Thinly slice all the mushrooms and add them to the cauldron. Take your wand and wave it over the cauldron with a fast strinking oblique motion and cast the spell." Noting down the Professor's explanation on his parchment Vickers collected his set of reishi mushrooms, then set the container beside the cutting board. He scourgified his knife and board again, before setting the mushrooms onto it and proceeding to slice them with the care as he did with the basil leaves.
After adding the mushrooms in he picked up his wand and mimicked the way the Professor performed the spell. "Sanum." he uttered. He peered into the mixture... it looked like soup to him, smelled like one too.
He turned his attention back to front when the Professor advised those with allergies to start drinking it as soon as it has cooled some. He was both anxious and excited to see if it would work, and reached out to scourgify a cup for himself.
Taking the wooden spoon he scooped up the mixture into the cup and took a whiff-- it smelled really good. He tipped the cup into his lips and drank slowly, the mixture still very warm but not hot enough to burn.
He noted down the Professor's instructions for homework then took a rather large sampling for himself. He can source a vial later for giving away, but if this does work he will need more than just a small vial for himself. With his homework in mind, Vickers cleaned up his work area, packed his things into his book bag and as he made his way towards the door, he nodded his head politely towards the Potions Mistress "Thank you for the lesson Professor."

And of course, HOMEWORK. Just like every subject.
Jonathan cleaned the vial and then he took a scoop of the antillergen potion, put it on the vial carefully. Now that he is all done with the potion, he's free to leave and get some sleeping done at the dorm rooms. Oh yes. The best part of after class... is after class. You can do whatever you want.
Jonathan cleaned his station this time. He gathered all the trash and put it in the trash bin. He placed his vial with the potion inside, in his bag pocket. Picked up his bag and looked at Lafay. She did say the class is dismissed. Jonathan gave Lafay a slight bow "Thank you for today, Professor" and smiled.

She wasn't gonna be allergic to chocolate anymore? She just needed to take the potion. Wooot! Just how cool was that? That very potion would be able to change her life! Now, she 'd be able to taste chocolate whenever she liked, the only requirement was that she took her potion. And homework. Well..yes, more things to do. But she was too delighted to even think about it.
Reaching out for a small vial across her, Beezus then picked it up and poured the remaining potion in her cauldron to the vial using the ladle. She'd keep it to so she could use it one of these days. After cleaning her own things, it was time to tidy up her work area. She scourgified her table and all the apparatuses she used, then she returned it into their designated places.
Casting one last glance at her working area, the young eaglette slipped the strap of her backpack on her right shoulder, headed to where Professor Lafay was and said, "Professor..thank you so so much for this most wonderful lesson!" She was almost singing as she went. "You don't know how grateful I am..I can now eat chocolate without evem worrying!" Naaaah, she was just too happy. "Errrrmm..is there anything I can do for you before I leave Professor?" Because she wasn't gonna be leaving that soon. She was too in a good mood to leave the dungeons.
"Very good guys, you shouldn't be allergic to anything once you've taken the potion."

Louisa had poured her potion into a vial and was holding her wand when professor Lafay addressed the class and announced homework. It was a reasonable one, not like Herbology's. Or Arithmancy's. "Scourgify," she pointed the wand at the cauldron and then cleaned up the table, the knife, and everything else that was used.
Writing down the homework, Louisa slipped her vial, parchments into the shoulder bag and headed for the door. "Good bye, professor." She cast a polite nod and was out the door.

Ella looked around. Class dismissed? Well that was great! She had survived her first potions class and it wasn't scary at all...Well except for the whole strawberry thing. She gathered her notes, placing them into her bag with care. Then she grabbed a vial and scooped some of the potion in, wondering who she could give it to. As for the mushroom assignment- that wasn't bad either. She didn't mind writing. Picking up her wand she pointed it at the cauldron. "Scourgify." Then she cleaned the rest of the items she'd used to make the potion as well as her workspace. After placing her wand and vial into the pocket of her messenger bag she headed for the door. "Thanks Professor, see you later."
So was that mean he's not allergic to peanuts anymore? But until when? Even so he's not really keen to eat peanuts after this. Beside peanut is not that good either. He made sure to fill a couple vials with teh potion before he began to clean up his work station.
Messer sighed when Lafay announced the homework. They have to find someone who's not in this class with an allergy then give them the potion? Well, its going to be difficult. He need to find this person ASAP. He put all his belonging back to his backpack.
"Thank you for the lesson, Professor." The young badger definitely grateful with today lesson, the potion did help him with his nuts allergy. "Good day, Ma'am" he said before he left the classroom.

Violet sunk in her seat at the teacher's mention of homework. Homework? They were going to have homework? Not every teacher gave homework to their students, but potions was potions. Violet quickly packed up her things and took a vial of her own potion, hoping that she will find someone who had an allergy to something. She headed toward the door, meanwhile calling out, "Goodbye Professor Lafay! That was a very interesting class." and headed out.

Ouch.
The homework length was just as bad as papaya and raw honey. Janice quickly scribbled the homework at the back of her notes, 'Scourgify'-ed her cauldron and took the vial with her potion in it.
'You shouldn't be allergic to anything once you've taken the potion', Janice repeated in her head as she head to the door. She decided to try it once again, maybe on a bush daisy or dust. Pausing a moment in front of the allergeant tray, she scanned the top part for a bush daisy. There! She took it by the end of the stem, carefully not to touch the flower and lifted it up, shifting it from one hand to another. Cautiously, she brushed the petals, then jerked her hand inwards, expecting some rashes to come around. But nothing happened. It seemed that the potion really worked. Really.
"Thanks for the---Oh," she paused, and remembered a tiny detail before she could get overexcited. "When will the effects of the potion wear off?"
Eliza scribbled her homework down, and rushed to fill a few vials with the potions, cast 'scourgify' over the rest of her potion and quickly packed all her books and such away. She picked up her bag and left, nodding to the Professor "good day Professor Lafay." And hurriedly left the classroom.
Jordan made note of the homework, before filling a couple of vials of potion to give to people. He then began packing away his equipment, with a few Scourgify spells being cast at random pieces of equipment before they were put away. He stood up, heading towards the door, "Thank you for a great lesson Professor," he smiled before departing.
