Hecate had brought a tray with a few items on them. Flowers, Shellfish, Strawberries, peanuts and other things. Her large cauldron was seated on it's burner, which was not lit, before her.
She was in a good enough mood. Things were going well in her personal life. She just needed to get used to certain things... that would come with time. She opened the classroom, and waited for her students to file in.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!
The Prefect took note of all the vital things his Head of House was saying and demonstrating them. He retreived two dock leaves and placed them into the mortar, then followed up by crushing it with the pestal.
After he was done with that, Kennedy stood up and went to the refrigerated section to get an Ashwinder egg. Cool. He's never touched one before. He walked back to his working area, causiosly. When he was back at his table he broke the egg and added into the mortar, adding four sprigs of Fluxweed. When he was done, he looked up, his mind completely into the lesson and away from the news he had received that day.

Kennedy looked up, giving Professor Lafay his full attention. He added the ten Murlap Essence as instructed and then stirred eight times, counter-clockwise. After he was done with that he took the Parsley and crushed them in his hands above the cauldron.
This action reminded him of his mother when she cooked with Oregano. She would always crush the tiny leaves in her hands. Memories.

Add the 10 drops Murtlap Essence (stir eight times counter clockwise), then loosely crush two parsley sprigs above the cauldron adding the flakes as they fall.

India made sure to clean off her wooden stirrer and set it propped to the side of her ingredients kit. She'd give it another once over before she used it to stir, having everything off of it however seemed a very important thing as it was wood and wood sometimes absored things like other potion ingredients and the works. Taking out the Murtlap Essence she counted carefully as she readied her dropped.
She'd dropped in as much as she needed stoppering the bottle and cleaning her hand she picked up her wand and pointed it had the stirrer. "Scurgify" she cleaned it off and knew it was now safe to use.
One Stir, Two Stirs, Three stirs, Four Stirs - all counter clockwise. Now she was going to keep it up since she was halfway there.
Five Stirs, Six Stirs, Seven Stirs, Eight Stirs - yes! She'd done it taking out her wooden stirrer she cleaned it before placing it into her ingredients kit. While in the kit she cleaned her hands and picked up the two sprigs of parsley - with them in hand she gently began to grind them together in her hand adding the loose bits of parsley in as it fell from her hand.

Jonathan smiled. He really does enjoy Potions a lot. Ohhhh! Parsley. He almost forgot about that one. He took two of the sprigs parsley and crushed them above his cauldron, like what the professor had demonstrated.

- Scourgify mortar & pestle
- Crush 2 dock leaves
- Break open 1 Ashwinder egg into mortar and quickly add 4 Fluxweed sprigs into it
- Add mortar contents into cauldron
- Add in 10 drops of Murtlap Essence
- Scourgify wooden stirrer, stir mixture counter-clockwise eight times.

She then quickly noted down the ingredients that she would need and scratched them off the list of ingredients that the Professor had written down on the Board and which she had copied and written in her journal.

Putting down her quill she made her way back to the Ingredient Supply cupboard and taking out another vial and dropper from her jacket and pumped out 10 drops of Murtlap Essence into her vial before covering it with a cork. She also removed two sprigs of Parsley from the cupboard before making her way back to her workstation.
Placing the vial and sprigs on her workstation, Alyssa took out her wand and pointing it at her wooden stirrer said,"Scourgify" to clean it. Once her wooden stirrer was clean, Alyssa picked up the vial, removed the cork and added the 10 drops of Murtlap Essence into the cauldron. She then picked up her wooden stirrer and started stirring the mixture making sure that she was stirring counter clockwise. She counted off as she stirred. "One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight". She immediately stopped stirring and placed her stirrer back on the table.
Alyssa reviewed her journal one more time before picking up the two sprigs of Parsley. Using both hands, she placed them over her cauldron. Gently rubbing the sprigs of parsley between her fingertips, she loosely crushed the parsley letting the flakes fall into the cauldron. She looked into her cauldron as they fell and once all the Parsley was crushed, Alyssa waited for further instructions.

' Add the 10 drops Murtlap Essence' Beezus read silently as her hands started to grab the ingredient that was mentioned. "Murtlap Essence.." she said aloud as she read the label on the small bottle that she was holding. After confirming that it was indeed the needed ingredient, she propped the dropper into the bottle. Afterwards, she squeezed the dropper and counted that 10 drops would be added to the mixture. Getting her wooden stirrer, she then stirred the mixture eight times in a counter-clockwise direction.
Stir. Stir. Stir. Stir. Stir. Stir. Stir. Stir.
When that was done, the eaglette referred to her parchment once again for the next step which was to add the two sprigs of Parsley. She took one sprig first and held it above her cauldron and loosely she crushed it. Beezus did the same with the second sprig.

Aurora listened, nodded, and turned to her ingredients. She dropped the ten drops of Murtlap essence into her cauldron one at a time and then picked up the parsley. Two sprigs. She crushed them in her hands above the cauldron and watched the flakes drop into it as she did so.
When she had done that he noted down the steps on her parchment.
Method

5. Add ten drops murtlap essence.
6. Stir with a wooden stirrer eight times anticlockwise.
7. Crush parsley loosely in hands and let the flakes fall into the cauldron.

A couple seconds later, she caught the stirrer in her hand. Tayla gave a big sigh of relief and went back to working on her potion. She stirred eight times counter-clockwise as instructed and hoped Professor Lafay didn't notice her frantic look.
Tayla shook her head and tried to remember what came next. "Oh yes...two sprigs of Parsley." She held her hands over the cauldron, crushed the sprigs a little in her hands, and watched as the flakes fell into the cauldron with the rest of the mixture.

Number and direction of stirs must be the potions version of wand movements, she thought, as she let the flakes fall from her hand and into the cauldron.

Sophie then added the drops of Murtlap Essence one by one until it reached 10. She frowned once more when she saw older students cleaning their wooden stirrers. "Isn't it a bit too much??" she thought to herself, looking around. Oh well, it was best if she did it anyway. The older students probably knew better. "Scourgify!" She said pointing her wand at her own wooden stirrer. She was getting used to the fact that nothing seemed to happen as she cast that spell on things. Maybe she wasn't supposed to see what happened anyway. Whatever.
She stopped to think what was counter-clock before stirring. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven aaand... eight! Sophie smiled as she got the two springs Parsley and held it above her cauldron. She started crushing them loosely, as Professor Lafay had demonstrated and watched as the flakes fell into the cauldron.
Wait... should she have used the Cleaning Spell on her hands too? She looked around quickly and didn't see any of her classmates doing it, so she was fine. Hopefully...

Alex had to work a bit quicker than he'd have liked to keep up with Lafay, but he was at least keeping UP, which was a good thing. He took the Murtlap essence and added 10 drops as she had instructed. Then he had to turn counter clockwise...uggh, which way was that again?
He paused, picturing his cauldron as a clock, and figured it out a second later. He always had to do that to stop himself from going the wrong way. He grabbed his wooden stirrer and started to go counter clockwise until he'd stirred 8 times. Now crush two springs of parsley, that was easy enough...
He grabbed the parsley and held it above his hand, crushing it with his hands and watching the tiny flakes fall into the cauldron as he moved his palms together.

He pointed his wand into his things and thought, Accio Parsley. He heard shuffling as the parsley unlodged itself from under several jars and made its way to his waiting hands. After checking the label, he found two midsized leaves and brought them over his cauldron. Keefer began to crush them and watched as the small wafts of air in the dungeon carried the flakes down onto the surface of the mixture.

After he was done with that, Kennedy stood up and went to the refrigerated section to get an Ashwinder egg. Cool. He's never touched one before. He walked back to his working area, causiosly. When he was back at his table he broke the egg and added into the mortar, adding four sprigs of Fluxweed. When he was done, he looked up, his mind completely into the lesson and away from the news he had received that day.

Kennedy looked up, giving Professor Lafay his full attention. He added the ten Murlap Essence as instructed and then stirred eight times, counter-clockwise. After he was done with that he took the Parsley and crushed them in his hands above the cauldron.
This action reminded him of his mother when she cooked with Oregano. She would always crush the tiny leaves in her hands. Memories.
After she had finished it, she took two sprigs parsley and crushed them loosely in her hands, then added it to her cauldron.

With her wooden spoon, Sierra scooped up three spoonfuls of raw honey. She added them to the brew then reached for the five basil leaves. With her silver knife, she began slicing the leaves as thin as she could. She thought she'd done a pretty good job. She moved her knife toward a nearby papaya and quickly stabbed a wound directly into it. Then she began the process of stuffing the basil into the wound. With a plop, she added the basil-stuffed papaya into the cauldron.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

Shaking his hands over the caudron letting the remaining small pieces of parsley fall into it. Oakey began listening again to Lafay's instructions...Really Oakey thought to himself half of that sounded like they were now preparing a meal. Putting that aside him he took his wooden spoon and scooped up his first spoonful of honey. He held it over the cauldron and turned it upside down watching the honey slowly drop into the concoction. He finished with the other two spoonfuls of honey then set the wooden spoon down.
He then picked up the small knife and all five of the basil leaves, laying them on top of one another so that he wouldn't have to slice each of the individually. He took the small knife and slide it across the leaves smoothly. carefully and made the slices thin as Lafay had said to.
Now for the Papaya. Oakey held the fruit so that it was sitting upright on at his workspace. He began stabbing the fruit in a few places on one side. Oakey grabbed a few pieces of the Basil and stuffed them into the Papaya. Turning the fruit to a side that had not yet been stabbed, he proceeded to poke the holes on that side and put the last of his cut Basil leaves into it.
Oakey began to feel some what bored. This was taking forever he wanted to add some action to this dull class. What would happen if I just threw the papaya into the cauldron and let it splash everywhere? Oakey thought That would make for a fun experiment He looked up at Lafay... Yeah, no I'd rather not risk her wrath. He gently placed the fruit into the cauldron. How dull.

Autumn Picked up her wooden spoon and added 3 spoonfulls of raw honey.. it looked delicous! She then took 5 basil leaves and delicatly sliced them as thin as they would go, looking at the slicess carefully. As she watched the professor she gasped quietly.... now that was somethign she wasn't expecting to do!
She picked up the knife again along with the Papaya and took aim, STAB she plunged the knife into the fruit not too hard but it made a fairly decent hole. She grabbed a pinch of basil and stuffed some in, seeing she could fit more she took another pinch.
She repeated this until all the thinly sliced basil was inside the fruit.
She dropped it into the mixture and waited for further instructions peering at her mixture.

Sky resisted (barely) asking why they were stuffing the basil into the papaya instead simply adding it to the potion. She didn't want to make the professor's obviously good mood go sour. So, she just did as she was told, pulling her wooden spoon up out of the potion adding the three spoonfuls of raw honey to the wooden spoon and letting it melt off. She grabbed her silver knife by the handle, cast "Scourgify!" (she wasn't taking any chances), and chopped the five Basil leaves. When she had them chopped as thin as possible, Sky took the knife and stabbed the papaya. Just hard enough to go through the rind and little of the pulp. She started stuffing what she could of the basil into the hole she'd made, stopping when the hole was full. She repeated this process until all the basil was inside the papaya. She added the whole papaya to her potion, wondering the whole time how on Earth it was going to dissolve in the liquid..

She took her spoon and added 3 spoonfuls of raw honey into the caldron. She sliced 5 basil leaves thinly as she could with her sliver knife. She then stabbed her papaya with the knife mkaing a lot a good sixed holes and stuffed the basil into it. She tossed it into the cauldron and then waited for more instrutions.

"Scourgify." She cleaned the knife before she cut the basil leaves. Then she sliced it until it's very thin. After that she took a papaya, stabbed it with her knife and stuffed the basil into her wound. After she made sure all of the wound was enough for the basil, she added it to the cauldron.

Pull Wooden Spoon & Add three spoonfuls of raw honey
Take 5 Basil Leaves slice them w/ Silver Knife (cleaned knife...make it as thin as you can)
Stab whole papaya with same silver knife stuff basil in papaya's wounds (keep this up until you ad all the basil into the papaya) then add to the mixture.

Still only one carrot? India thought raising her eyebrows - either she was mad or everyone had lost the liaisons on their brains that made them think doing the opposite of what Lafay said was a good idea. This would be a strange term without a few potions blunders though.
She didn't want to be one of them. Nope, not at all.
Taking her wooden spoon out she quickly cleaned it before scooping up the needed honey onto the spoon. It looked about to be three spoonfuls - well, close enough to three but no where over the exact weight of three spoons of honey. Letting the hot liquid of the potions melt the honey off of the spoon until none was left on it. Lifting it out she quickly leaned it.
Then taking her silver knife she cleaned it and took the five leaves of basil and began to finely cut them. Until they were just small enough. Now, taking her papaya in hand she began to jab into it.
Jab.
Jab.
The papaya was going to look like it had been thrown into some sharp knife. Oh wait. It had. When it was finally stabbed enough she placed the basil leaf bits into all the slits and slowly lowered it into the potion.
There. The whole mixture so far - was finished. Now just the rest of the steps remained.

He pulled his spoon out immediately as she began talking. He needed to copy down the next set of instructions anyways. Honey basil, papaya. Got it.
He grabbed his spoon in his left hand and honey in the right. He poured carefully and slowly as he measured out one spoonful. He let it drizzle off the spoon for several seconds, then allowed the heat of the potion to melt away the rest of the sticky substance. He repeated this process twice more. Noting that the honey was capable of rising slightly above the spoon without overflowing, he marveled at the occurrence. It's just like water in that way. Maybe that's why precise measurements with honey aren't possible.
Next, he cleared a work space on the counter and spread five basil leaves upon it. Silver knife in hand, he set to work, meticulously shaving his leaves into almost identically-sized strips. Each piece was about as thick as the width of the knife. He spent almost five minutes on this endeavor before he was satisfied.
Grabbing the papaya, he prepared to puncture it. What a great way to let out your pent up anger! Not that I have any, though. He held the papaya at arm's length, unsure of what spray was about to hit him. It was a good thing, too, because juice spritzed out. He filled the hole with the leaf shreds, then made more holes to stuff. Once he had run out of basil, he examined the fruit. "What a strange looking thing I've made you into," he commented. "Sorry abou' tha'!" he said happily before dropping the fruit into the potion with a satisfying plop! noise.
Nodding some more Mortimer pulled his wooden spoon and began the process of scooping the honey and letting the liquid melt it. He repeated this until he had exactly three spoonfuls in the mixture.
Oh dear... now it was time to work with a SUPER SHARP knife. Heh. Well any knife tended to make Mo THINK it was super sharp even when they were dull. Biting on his bottom lip he retrieved the FIVE basil leaves and began to chop them until he could not chop them anymore. He was SURE he had the THINNEST basil leaves of LIFE right now. Hehe.
Carefully positioning the knife over the papaya he then JABBED the knife into and with his other hand he stuffed some of the basil into the wound. AWESOME. And really... all that sweet papaya smell and the basil was making him KIND OF HUNGRY. To take his mind off it he simply continued to stab the papaya and stuff it full of basil. Once he was completely OUT of basil slivers he set his knife aside and then carefully lowered the papaya into the cauldron. No WAY did he want to like splash the potion out all over the place.

Cracking the egg, the 5th year added it to the mortar, following it quickly up with the fluxweed sprigs and letting out a sigh of relief as the reaction stopped like it should. Since it had been successful, Gideon dumped the contents of the mortar into his cauldron.

One the eight counter-clockwise stirs were through, Gideon jotted downa few things before picking up the parsley. Putting his gloved hands together palm sides connected, he crushed the leaves together and gradually let them free from his hands and into the cauldron.

Why did he feel like this class seemed to be going far faster then usual? Gideon wasn't sure if it was just him, but it certainly felt that way as he worked to keep up on all they were being told and showed what to do to brew the potion correctly.He took a deep breath and pushed through, pulling the spoon and adding the 3 spoonfuls of honey.
"Scourgify," he cast on his knife before cutting up the basil leaves. The Gryffindor slicing them as thin as he possibly could without cutting himself. Wound the papaya? That was a new one, the 5th year absently shaking his head and mimicing the professor's actions as close as he could.
Stab...stuff...stab...stuff...stab...stuff...until all the basil was within the papaya. Gideon then carefully dropping the whole fruit into the potion as shown to avoid accidentally splashing.

Alyssa listened and watched as the Professor demonstrated the next steps to making the potion. She quickly wrote down the instructions and scratched off the ingredients she would need from her Potions Ingredients list.
She then quickly wrote down the next steps, adding it into her Potions journal.

Putting down her quill, she returned to the ingredients cupboard, and retrieved the ingredients she needed,before returning to her workstation. Alyssa then took out her wand and pointed it at both her wooden spoon and silver knife and cleaned it by using the Scourgify spell. Then picking up the bottle of raw honey, she poured three spoonfuls worth of honey into her wooden spoon and placed it over her cauldron letting the heat from the mixture in the cauldron, slowly melt the raw honey into it.
Next she cleared her workdesk to make an empty place where she could slice the basil leaves. Before she picked up her knife to do it, she took out her wand, pointed it at the cleared area and said "Scourgify" to clean it. Once her workarea was clean, Alyssa picked up her silver knife and taking the first Basil leaf, she cut into it, slowly slicing it into the thinnest slices possible. She repeated the same steps for the other four leaves. Once she was done slicing up the leaves, Alyssa used her knife to scrape all the slices of Basil leaves into a pile and then picked up the whole Papaya.
Picking up her silver knife with one hand and holding the Papaya in her other, Alyssa proceeded to stab the Papaya repeatedly over and over again, creating holes in it. Alyssa then put down her knife and picking up the slices of the basil leaves, she started stuffing the holes in the Papaya with them. When she ran out of holes, Alyssa picked up her knife again and stabbed more holes. Then she continued to stuff the holes with her sliced Basil leaves, until all the leaves were stuffed into the holes she had created. She then picked up the stuffed Papaya and added it into the mixture.
She looked as the Papaya slowly sank into the mixture, before sitting back and waited for further instructions.

Minerva watched as Professor Lafay did the next steps. Then she cleaned her wooden spoon before adding the three spoonfulls of raw honey. 1 spoonful she thought in her head, two spoonfuls, three spoonfuls. Next she made sure her sliver knife was clean and sliced the basil leaves thin. Minerva then took the papaya and poked a few holes in it stuffing the basil leaves as she went. She need a few more holes so she stabbed at it again. Once she was done putting the basil leaves in the papaya she put it in the mixture.

Kurumi wasn't sure whether to be more afraid of Professor Lafay's surprisingly goo mood or happy about it as it made the classroom seem to be more pleasant. It was more like she was a ticking time bomb though...SOMETHING was going to set her off and the prefect crossed fingers and held her breath that it wasn't going to be her.
And yes, Kurumi caught the look from the Potions Mistress in her direction.
After added the three spoonfuls of honey and resisting the urge to lick her spoon after Kurumi began the tedious process of thinly slicing her basil. When that was sliced, Kurumi retrieved a papaya and held her knife firmly in her hand. She had to...stab it? That seemed to barbaric! Wait a moment, Kurumi had forgotten WHOSE lesson she was in at the moment.
Deciding to sort of stab!slice, Kurumi made enough incisions to the papaya to stuff them with basil before dropping it into her cauldron.

Angelina grabbed the spoon and added three spoons of Raw Honey, she waited- like Professor Lafay showed- the liquid melting off all the honey from the spoon. Once done she took the five basil leaves and started to cut them with her silver knife in thin pieces. Angelina looked at the one whole Papaya fruit with an eyebrow riased. Looking at her knife the same way. She stabbed the fruit like told and stuffed some of the basil in the wound. Angelina looked up and around the classroom too see if she was doing this correctly, apparently she was.
As Angelina continued she placed some of the basil in the wound, tell there was no more. She picked up the whole Papaya and looked down into her cauldron, like told again she dropped the whole Papaya in her caulron. Angelina then turned to her notes and crossed off the three steps. Placing her quill down she waited for the next step.

Messer watched carefully while Professor Lafay demonstrated the next step. Then Messer took 2 sprigs Parsley, crushed them together and gradually let them free from his hands and into the cauldron.

Onto the next steps. He pulled his wooden spoon and added 3 spoonfulls of raw honey, then allowed the heat of the potion to melt away all the honey from the spoon.
He took his knife and cleaned it first with the cleaning charms before he used it to slice the 5 basil leaves as thin as possible. Messer carefully positioning the knife over the papaya then he stabbed it with the silver knife. Cool! Okay next step, he stuffed the basil in the papaya wound he just made. After he was sure that he already put all the basil into the wound, he added it into the potion.

To begin with, Eino took his not-so-clean cauldron (it seemed like it gathered some dust over the break) and used the Scouring Charm first... several times. When the cauldron was in a spot-less condition he filled it with water using the Water-Producing Charm. He let the water rest as he fetched the ingredients Professor Lafay listed and returned the to the table. He lined them up neatly at a safe distance from the cauldron and scribbled down some notes before initiating the brewing process.

Zhenya watched and listened at the first step. Raw honey. Sounded delicious! Not the time to think about food, she told herself. She pulled out her wooden spoon from her left side and grabbed her wand with her right hand, and said "scourgify," to clean whatever may have been on it. She got the honey in front of her and dipped the spoon in, the. Did as the professor did. Then she repeated that step twice more so that there were three spoons, roughly the same amount, in the cauldron.
Next ingredient was the five basil leaves. She took the from her row of ingredients and listened for Professor Lafay's instructions on what to do with them. She had to slice them as thin as she could. She pulled out her silver knife and picked up her wand to say "scourgify," to clean it. The. She used a technique her mother had used many times to slice the herbs. After a minute or so, the basil leaves were sliced as thin as she could make it, which was quite thin.
The. Ext ingredient was the papaya. She had one whole papaya which she retrieved from her collection of ingredients and... And she stabbed it. Though she had a bit of a fear of knives and pain so she stabbed it as carefully as she could, but so that she could still say stabbing rather than cutting. When she had some holes in her papaya she stuffed some of the basil in there and saw she needed more holes, so she kept stabbing it. After a few moments all the basil was in the papaya and she put the whole fruit in the mixture.

Procedure

- Add 10 drops of Murtlap Essence
- Stir 8 time counter-clockwise
- Crush the two springs Parsley in your hands and let the flakes fall into the cauldron
- Add 3 spoonfuls of raw honey
- Slice the basil as thin as possible; stab the papaya all over and stuff it with the basil. Add the whole thing in the potion.

Grabbing her wooden spoon, Sophie put raw money on it and putting it back in the potion. She watched as the honey melted off all of the three times she did it. That was an interesting sight, actually.
Sophie sighed. She had to clean her knife also? Some of the other students were doing it but some others weren't. Hm... she didn't feel like doing it anymore, but just in case... "Scourgify." She was tired of not seeing anything happening when she did that spell, but whatever. She started slicing the five basil leaves as thin as she could.
Taking the papaya, Sophie started stabbing it all over. That was actually fun! She made holes all over the fruit and then stuffed it with the slices of the basil leaves. She really enjoyed this part!
Smiling, she finally added the whole papaya into her cauldron really carefully.

Stella couldn't help but look up at Professor Lafay as she actually seemed pleased that they'd all been following directions. It might have been only her, but she figured it was the fear of what the professor could do if angered that was keeping them all safe. Either way, things had quickly moved on to the next steps to the potion, so she focused on that instead. She could think about other things once the lesson was finished, and she would be safe from disaster. Since this potion obviously was nowhere near the one they'd brewed in the first lesson last term.
Removing her wooden spoon from her kit, she quickly Scourgified it, then proceeded to measure out the three spoonfuls of raw honey, letting the heat from her potion melt off the residue between each spoonful. Once that was complete, she Scourgified the spoon once again just for good measure, then got up to collect the basil leaves and a papaya. Returning to her seat, she took her silver knife out and Scourgified that was well, before carefully slicing the basil leaves into as thin of slices as she could get without injury. Then, sliding her papaya nearer to herself, she started stabbing it, only pretending it was her ex the tiniest bit so she didn't feel like a complete idiot stabbing fruit. And, once she figured there were enough wounds in the poor papaya, she started stuffing them with the basil slices, then she delicately dropped the whole fruit into the mixture inside her cauldron. Once that was done, she returned to her notes, Scourgifying the knife before she could forget. She wanted to make sure she was ready for whatever came next, after all.

"Well, you all seem to be following directions well." Beezus heard Professor Lafay say. WAIIIIIT! wait, wait, just wait.. Was that a compliment for all of them? Or merely a statement of fact? Blink. Blink. Blink. Their Potions Mistress didn't used to give them compliments. Maybe she really was engaged for her mood was a bit better than the usual?
As she was stressing over her curiosity, Professor Lafay also started saying the next steps that she didn't have any choice but leave her bewilderment for later and stick with the potion brewing first. The eaglette quickly wrote down the succeeding instructions on her parchment.
1. Fill the cauldron with water.
2. Add the Valerian root and Salamander blood drops alternately one at a time.
3. Crush the two dock leaves with the mortar and pestal.
4. Go to the refrigerated section and remove an Ashwinder Egg, break it and add it into the mortar.
5. Quickly add the 4 sprigs Fluxweed and place mixture on the cauldron.
6. Add the 10 drops Murtlap Essence, and stir eight times with your wooden stirrer counter-clockwise.
7. Take the two sprigs Parsley and crush them loosely in your hands above the cauldron, adding the flakes as they fall.
8. Pull your wooden spoon, and add 3 spoonfulls of raw honey.
9. Take 5 basil leaves and slice them thin, as thin as you can, with your silver knife.
10. Take a papaya, whole and with the same silver knife, stab the fruit and stuff some of the basil in the wound. Keep stabbing until you make enough holes for all of the basil. Then add it to the mixure.
Afterwards, she started on the eight step based on her parchment. Beezus pulled her wooden spoon, and made sure it was clean. When it was, she dipped it into the jar of raw honey and used it to transfer three spoonfuls of it into the mixture. It melted immediately. Then..moving on to the next steps, placing her wooden spoon on the side, she took hold of the silver knife in the midst of her potion making apparatuses. "Scourgify," Beezus said as she pointed her wand on the knife to clean it from dust and rust. Then, she took the 5 basil leaves.. "I'm gonna slice them thin?" she inquired as she looked at her parchment. Yeap, as thin as she could. Carefully, she sliced each. When she was done with that, the eaglette turned her attention back to her parchment.
"Papaya." Beezus identified as she held with both hands the orange fruit. It was a whole papaya. Placing it on the table for a while, she picked up the silver knife once more and started stabbing the papaya, making small holes on it. And as she did, she stuffed the thinly-cut basil leaves in the said holes. Beezus repeated the same process until there were no basil leaves left. After doing so, she read the next step. 'Add the papaya in the mixture? WHOLE?'"Whole?" she couldn't help but voice out what she was thinking. She needed to be extra careful when adding it to the mixture then. And carefully, she did.

Jonathan listened carefully and watched the Professor. Jonathan learns faster visually rather than reading and understanding. It's complicated for him... Or maybe he's just too lazy to do so. So they'll be needing the wooden spoon, knife, 5 basil leaves, honey and a whole papaya. Wait! A WHOLE PAPAPYA!?!?!!?!!!
Great! Jonathan looked at the next ingredients and seemed a little bit speechless about it. Does it really work? Anyways, since it is part of the instructions and ingredients. Jonathan took the needed ingredients and then when he came back to his station, he pulled out his wooden spoon and silver knife.
What was the first thing to do again? Jonathan looked at his parchment again and recapping what Lafay had demonstrated earlier... OH! Right. 3 spoonfull of raw honey. He remembered correctly.
After cleaning his wooden spoon and knife with the Scourgify spell. Jonathan dipped the wooden spoon into a jar full of raw honey. It looks delicious but of course he's not going to eat it. One... Two... Three... spoons! Jonathan smiled. Now, for the next procedure.
Taking the 5 basil leaves on one corner of his table, he laid them down onto the side. Slice them as thin as you can... GULP. Jonathan is not good with slicing but he'll try. This is after all Potions. He will not fail any procedure! Jonathan took his cleaned silver knife and starred at the basil leaves for awhile. He then slowly cut the leaves in a very thin texture, nice and easy. He did the same thing to the other 4 leaves and after he was done, it was time to stab the papaya. Yes, the WHOLE papaya.
Jonathan stabbed the whole papaya with his silver knife. And again. And again. And again. Now the next step is to stuff it with some of the basil leaves he just cut. He stuffed the basil leaves into the holes around the papaya.
After he was done stabbing and stuffing, Jonathan now added the papaya into the mixture.
