Hecate had brought a tray with a few items on them. Flowers, Shellfish, Strawberries, peanuts and other things. Her large cauldron was seated on it's burner, which was not lit, before her.
She was in a good enough mood. Things were going well in her personal life. She just needed to get used to certain things... that would come with time. She opened the classroom, and waited for her students to file in.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!

Things were still going well, but that didn't break Stella's vigilance down. She wasn't going to go back to the way she was with Potions back at Beauxbatons, not after she'd passed her OWL. Plus, Professor Lafay was still not someone she wanted to anger, so before she even thought about following the next instructions, she took her wand out yet again and Scourgified her mortar and pestle. There was no way she was going to get docked for missing that step, even if it hadn't been explicitly stated. Once that was completed, however, she stood up and headed over to the storage cupboard to collect the dock leaves.
Adding them to the now clean mortar, she picked up her pestle and crushed the leaves as directed, before standing up again to collect her ashwinder egg. Momentarily curious about how she was supposed to break a frozen egg, she glanced at it before cracking it against the side of her mortar, pretending it was no different than when she'd tried helping he rmother bake at home. Of course, half the time then, they'd used magic for steps like this, but she managed to crack the egg open either way and added it to her crushed dock leaves. Quickly retrieving the required fluxweed sprigs once that was done, those got added to the egg mixture before she carefully picked her entire mortar up and added everything inside to her cauldron. Now the question would be what they were supposed to do next, but she sat back and waited. And Scourgified her mortar and pestle one more time, before adding the steps she'd just completed to her notes.

Kurumi would take that silence in response to her question as it not mattering which one was put in first. Good, because Kurumi had already forgotten which one she had dripped in first. Setting everything down, Kurumi watched as Professor Lafay demonstrated the next step, sneezing once again as some more of the pollen smacked her in the face. She bowed her head in apology to Jonathan, hoping that her sneezing wouldn't distract him.
After cleaning her mortar and pestle, Kurumi placed two dock leaves in and crushed them before heading over to get her Ashwinder egg - gloves on of course. Returning to her station, Kurumi did as had been instructed and stumbled only just a little with her fluxweed. Tasks accomplished, Kurumi sat back and added to her notes.

Five C's of Potion Making: Color, concentration, care, cleanliness, and content. Ingredients
Water
10 drops Valerian root
10 drops Salamander Blood
2 dock leaves
1 Ashwinder Egg
4 sprigs Fluxweed
10 drops Murtlap Essence
2 sprigs Parsley
3 spoons Raw honey
5 Basil leaves
1 whole Papaya
1 Ginger Root
17 Reishi (mushroom of immortality)
Procedure:
Clean cauldron
Fill cauldron with water
Add the 10 drops of valerian root & salamander blood one at a time alternating between the two
Clean mortar and pestle
Crush dock leaves
break Ashwinder egg into the mortar with the crushed leaves
QUICKLY add fluxweed

Elise nodded and pulled out her wand again. Casting three quick scourgifies on her mortar and pestle, she smiled. Now Professor Lafay couldn't destroy her progress so far. She might even be getting good at potions. Two dock leaves.
Taking the dock leaves, she hesitated a moment before putting them into her mortar. Who knew what disgusting things might have dropped into her mortar... Like... Pollen. Casting another scourgify, she placed the leaves in.
Moving her arm vigorously, she crushed the dock leaves quickly and reduced them to a fine powder. Setting the pestle down, she ran off to the refridgerated section and with gloves on, took out one Ashwinder Egg. Now, to figure out how to crack a frozen egg.
Shrugging, she cracked it on the side of her mortar and emptied its contents into the mortar before adding the four sprigs of Fluxweed. Breathing in, she picked up her mortar and emptied its contents into her cauldron as quickly as she could. Putting the utensils back on the table, she scourgified them both before bending over and adding to her notes.
While watching Lafay's demonstration, the fourth year rolled his sleeves so he won't ruin his robes. He grabbed his wand which he put on the table and pointed it into the mortar. "Scourgify," he muttered as he performed the spell. Just in case if it was dirty. After that, he retrieved a couple of dock leaves and put them into the mortar before crushing them with the pestle. Hades went to the refrigerated section for an Ashwinder break and returned to his work station where he broke the egg into the mortar. With a swift motion, he added four sprigs Fluxweed into the mortar before pouring the mixture into the cauldron.
"Good... Now take the valerian root and the salamander blood and add the drops in one at a time for each, alternating like this." She said and demonstrated in her own cauldron. One Valerian, One Salamander, One Valerian, One Salamander, One Valerian, One Salamander, etc...
Janice took the bottle of the Valerian Roots in one hand and the Salamander blood in the other. She tilted it slightly, allowing one drop to go into the cauldron from each bottle in turns. 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10.

She took the 2 dock leaves and put them into the mortar, right before she crushed them using the pestle. Then, she went to the refrigerated section and took the Ashwinder Egg professor told them to. Ouch, she thought, as her hands took turns on holding the egg as she went back to her workspace. Are Ashwinder eggs always this cold?
She readied the Fluxweeds by putting them besides the mortar. She quickly break the Egg, then snatched and shoved the 4 sprigs of Fluxweeds in. After that, she poured the mixture from the mortar into the cauldron before writing the next steps in her notes.
"Good. Now you need to retrieve the two dock leaves, and place them into the mortar. Crush it with the pestal. Go to the refrigerated section and remove an Ashwinder Egg. Break it and add it to the mortar, then quickly add the 4 sprigs Fluxweed. This stops the egg breakdown and gives you enough time to add the whole mixture to the cauldron... like so." Okay lots to do.
First she needed to clean her mortar and pestal. "Scourgify," she said quietly as to not disturb the rest of the students. She looked them over and deemed them clean. She placed in the two dock leaves and then began to crush them. Once complete she put on her gloves and moved to the refrigerated section.
Jezzabelle picked up the Ashwinder Egg and carried it carefully back to her station. Breaking it into the mortar she reached quickly for the four sprigs Fluxweed. Adding those on top she then proceeded to pour it into her cauldron. She then looked to her notes and added some more.

Autumn listened etremly closely, she didn't want to mess a thing up.
She got 2 dock leaves and laced them in the moter, then crushed them with the pestal just like the proffessor.
After that she walked towards the refridgarated section and carefully got a Ashinder Egg and walked back to her cauldron careful not to drop it. She broke it and added it to the morter and quickly grabbed 4 sprigs Fluxweed and added the too.
She adired her work and added it to the cauldron.
She waited for further instructions.

Louisa climbed down the stool and pulled the mortar sitting a bit far from her workplace. The girl grabbed her wand and with a flick and a "Scourgify" she made sure that nothing would turn her potion into a poisonous soup. Hehe. Well kind of.
Retrieving two dock leaves, Louisa dropped them into the mortar and started crushing them. Not too violently nor too gently. It only took about half a minute of careful crushing to mince the leaves well. Dropping the pestal, she moved to the refrigerated section. Her hands found an Ashwinder egg and cupped it delicately.
Back to her workspace, the girl broke the egg on top of the crushed leaves. Her fingers quickly grabbed four of sprigs Fluxweed and added them to the mixture.

Minerva listened as Professor Lafay told them the next directions she checked referenced her parchment to keep on the same step.
Then she pointed her wand "Scourgify" cleaning the mortar and the pestal. She went and retrieved the two dock leaves and placed them in the mortar. Crushing them with the pestal. Minerva checked the next step and went to the refrigerated section she found the Ashwinder Egg and broke and add it to the mortar. Next she quickly added her four drops of sprigs fluxweed. Once the fluxweed was in the mortar Minerva took the mortar and emptied all the ingredients into her cauldron. Once the ingredients were in the cauldron she pointed her wand at the empty mortar "Scourgify" cleaning the mortar before setting it aside.

First thing first. He need his mortar and pestle. Messer quickly grabbed his wand and performed the cleaning charms. After he was sure that his mortar and pestle were clean, Messer placed two duck leaves into the mortar and crashed it with the pestle. Setting the pestle down, he went to retrieve an Ashwinder Egg from the refrigerated section with gloves on. Then Messer went back to his work station, break the egg and add it into the mortar, then he quickly add the 4 sprigs Fluxweed before he added the mixture into his cauldron.

She put to dock leaves in her mortar and crushsed them with her pestal. She then went over and got an Ashwinder Egg from the refrigerated section. She broke it into and mortar and quickly added four sprigs of Fluxweed. She then poured it into her cauldron and waited for more insturtion.

Okay, okay.. now where or where was the dock leaves? Aha! Taking only two, next she had to add them to the mortar.. Yeah, not if it's dirty. "Scourgify", Kimalia watched it sud up and down before adding the two dock leaves in.
Now the fun part.. *CRUSH* Okay, checking the instructions briefly beforehand she went to the Refrigerated section to take an Ashwinder Egg. Wait, I need something else. Oh yeah, the Fluxweed. Taking four sprigs she went back to read the instructions again. "Okay, crush the egg and fluxweed." Kimalia checked to make sure no one took her already crushed dock leaves (still there, phew). Now she had to break the egg *CRACK* Done, now adding it in the mortar, she quickly followed it by the four sprigs of fluxweed.. Phew! Now she could add it all in the cauldron *pour* Now what was next? Kimalia took the time to jot in her notes until the next set of instructions was given.

Ella retrieved the dock leaves and placed them in the mortar. "One-two. Okay..." She then began to crush them with the pestal, hoping she was doing it correctly. When she thought they were crushed enough, she headed to the refrigerated section and got the Ashwinder egg. She cradled it gently in her hands, not wanting to drop the thing on the floor. When she got back to her spot she broke it carefully, as she didn't have a lot of experience breaking eggs. Then she added it to the mortar. She scrambled for the 4 sprigs Fluxweed, not knowing how quickly she had to get them into the mortar. It didn't take her too long though and she looked at the mixture, hoping it was the right color and texture. She bit her lip as she added the mixture to her cauldron, not wanting to spill anything. Looking down at it she raised her eyebrows. Was that right? She couldn't be sure but she had followed directions so it must be.

Seriously? All three of those were right? And no snide remark?! Score! How on earth did I manage that? Still shocked, he managed to pull himself together in time to hear Lafay move on. He began scribbling furiously, ready to put these ingredients into action.
Alright, time to get started. He unholstered his wand and pointed it into his cauldron. Slightly more confident than when he entered the lesson, he said, "Scourgify," to clean his cauldron. He would never forget this step. Lafay had yelled at enough first years to ingrain it in his brain forever.
He gazed into his cauldron. It appeared to be dust free and ready for use. Pointing his wand inside again, he this time attempted a nonverbal spell. The more practice the better, eh? Aguamenti. A faint trickle released itself from his wand tip. That will take forever. He ended the spell. More concentration. Aguamenti. This time a gush spewed forth. After a minute or so, he released the magic and had a semi-full cauldron.

Next, Keefer picked up the salamander blood in his left hand and the Valerian root in his right. He wasn't sure if mattered which ingredient started the cycle. But Lafay had started with Valerian root, so he would as well. His right hand dropped in one bit, then his left hand. One. He repeated the process nine more times until each ingredient had ten drops in the potion.

He fetched a pair of dock leaves, then placed them in the mortar. He crushed it until it was a fine powder. He grabbed the four sprigs of fluxweed and set them next to the mortar, ready to add. Leaving his cauldron, he went to retrieve the Ashwinder egg. Merlin, that's cold! He hurried back to his pestal and broke the egg. With his other hand, he added the fluxweed. He hoped he hadn't taken too long as he added it to his cauldron.
Jordan listened carefully to the Professor's instructions, adding them to his notes. Now where were his dock leaves? Once he found them, he put them in his mortar, but not after he'd quickly cast "Scourgify," on the device. He then crushed the leaves with the pestal before heading off to the refrigerated area of the room to collect an Ashwinder Egg.
Jordan then carefully returned to his workstation, egg in hand, placing it on his desk. He didn't crack it yet, he didn't want it to break down so he laid out the fluxweed sprigs so that he could add them quickly. He then broke the egg and dumped it in the mortar and added the Fluxweed quickly after. After adding the mixture to the potion he looked up at the Professor, smiling happily. He was doing good so far...
Potion making seemed like it could get very complicated with all the ingredients and steps, especially since each step had to be performed perfectly and timed right or it could mess up the entire potion. Silvia got out a mortar and pestal and, after making sure they were clean, retrieved two dock leaves and four sprigs of fluxweed. She placed the dock leaves in the mortar and crushed them, then retrieved an ashwinder egg from the refridgerated section of the cupboard. Silvia made sure the fluxweed was within reach and then carefully broke the egg over the mortar. Quickly, she grabbed the fluxweed and added it in. She paused to look at the result for a moment to make sure everything looked right, then dumped the contents into her cauldron.

Vlimia went and got her two dock leaves, and brought out the mortar and pestal. "Scourgify!" Vlim said, her wand pointed at the mortar. There. Vlimia put the leaves inside the mortar and crushed them until they were a kind of dry paste. Next, she went to the refrigerated section and got an Ashwinder egg. It was smooth and cold, like a crystal ball. Once Vlim had got to her table, she cracked the egg into her dry, leafy paste. She added four sprigs of fluxweed in record time, and poured the mixture into her cauldron. She almost dropped the mortar in, but she quickly grabbed it before it reached the contents of her cauldron.
1. Make sure your cauldron is clean, and then fill it up with water.
2. Put in drops of Valerian and Salamander Blood one at a time, alternating between them until they each have ten drops in the cauldron.
3. Crush dock leaves with mortar and pestal.
4. Add Ashwinder egg to the crushed leaves, and then add the fluxweed. Add mixture to cauldron.

Ok now that his cauldren had been clean up to the Professor's standards August breathed a sigh of relief. That was what he hadn't known about his first potions lesson, good thing Kurumi had showed him how to do it properly.
Alteration of Valerian root and Salamander blood, got it. August took the two ingrdiants' droppers and began to do his work:
One valerian.
One salamander blood.
One valerian.
One salamander blood.
The Gryffindor paused a second between each drop, and continued until each of them had been relieved of 10 drops. There that step was finished.

Wow the Potion's Mistriss must want them out of her dungeons, she was moving sort of fast; Auggie was trying his best to keep up though. Looking up from his potion and nodding at each of her next instructions he then quickly put the two dock leaves into his morter and then used the pestal to pulverize them.
After the leaves were sufficiently crushed, the fourth year walked over to the refrigerated section he was instructed to and retirved the Ashewinder egg with gloves on--he couldn't remember if they were needed or not, but better safe than sorry. Auggie then broke it and added it to the morter and then threw in the 4 sprigs of Fluxweed as fast as he could find them on the table.
Then he quickly added it to his cauldren. Was it him or did those steps make anyone else nervous, that's what he didn't cook.

Justin took his mortar and pestal " Scourgify. " then took a couple dock leaves and crushed them up in his mortar. Following the professors instructions he went to the refridgerator and collected his Ashwinder egg. He walked back to the mortar and broke open the egg and emptied the contents of it into his mortar. Quickly he added his 4 fluxweed sprigs to his mortar. then quickly added it to is cauldron.

Violet scratched her head in confusion. That was one too many steps to follow, but she tried her best to follow the professor as she did it. Okay. So first part was to get two dock leaves. That was simple enough. She followed the rest of the students to where the dock leaves were and plucked two of them.
I'm thinking you need to clean the mortar and pestle before I crush them right? Violet thought so she cleaned her mortar and pestle before placing the dock leaves and crushed them. Then Violet followed another group of students to the refrigerated section to get an Ashwinder Egg. That was simple enough right? But wait. Did she need gloves first? Violet quickly pulled on some gloves and carefully retrieved the egg. Violet hesitated a bit before breaking the egg and decided to break it like a normal chicken egg. She cracked it carefully on the side of the mortar and dumped the contents with the crushed dock leaves. Where were her sprigs Fluxweed. Frantic, Violet searched everywhere until she found the 4 sprigs and added them to the mixture just in time. Violet wiped sweat off her forehead in relief. Potions was harder than she thought it was.
After five seconds of breathing in and out, Violet carefully picked up the mortar and poured all the contents into her cauldron. Once more, Violet scourgified her mortar and pestle. She was now done and jotted down the rest of the steps she had done. Violet sat back down to wait for the professor's next steps.

Nessie got up and retrieved two dock leaves for her potion. She started contemplating what a dock was but then shook her head trying to keep her attention to the task at hand. She brought it back to her table a placed them in the mortar. She picked up her pestal and started crushing the poor leaves.She got up and got her Ashwinder Egg and also the four sprigs of Fluxweed seeing as the ingredient is supposed to be added fairly quickly. Nessie went back to her area. She cracked the egg and added it to the mortar. Almost as fast she added the four sprigs of fluxweed. She then added the mixture into her cauldron.
After that was done she rested her head on the table waiting for the next directions. She let her mind wander slightly thinking of other places besides this dark potion's classroom. She really hoped something interesting would happen to her that would break her out of this monotonous cycle.

Vashti watched and carefully took notes as Professor Lafay demonstrated the next step. Alright, this didn't seem too bad. Once she had written down the steps, she grabbed the two droppers and dropped a bit of the Valerian root in first, then a drop of the salamander blood (ew), and continued to alternate as instructed until all ten of each were added.

Vashti wrote them down quickly, trying to watch what the professor did at the same time. Once that was done, she went and retrieved the two dock leaves, but before putting them into the mortar, she picked up her wand with her free hand and cast a quick "Scourgify," on the mortar and pestle. Now that she knew they were clean too, she placed the leaves into the mortar and began crushing them with the pestle. Once that was completed, she took an Ashwinder egg, carefully broke it, and added it into the mortar. She then grabbed four sprigs of fluxweed and quickly added them too, then added all of it to her cauldron.

Whoa! Professor Lafay seemed a little fast for Ira.. There were so many ingredients. Ira listened carefully and noted down in points in her parchment, which she could later on put in her fair journal. Then once she had listed down everything that had been said, she first decided to update her journal:

Use: get rid of allergies by, apparently, making your body NOT recognize the thing you're allergic too.
Steps:
1. Clean the cauldron
2. Pour water
3. Add 10 drops of Valerian root and Salamander blood alternatively.
4. Clean mortar and pestle
5. Crush dock leaves
6. Break Ashwinder egg into the mortar with the crushed leaves
7. QUICKLY add 4 sprigs of fluxweed
Okay, so first clean the mortar and pestle. So Ira did that. Now, two dock leaves. Got it.. Ira took them and put them into the mortar to crush them. Crush.. crush.. There, they were crushed. Now what?
She saw her notes and read that Ashwinder egg was needed. But where to get it? Then she remembered, to go to the refrigerated section and take one. So she went there and took the egg. She broke the egg into her mortar and proceeded to crush it. Then she quickly added the 4 sprigs of fluxweed into it. Then taking the mortar into her hands, she tipped it lightly and poured the entire mixture into her cauldron. Then she waited for further instructions.

Amelia quickly recorded the steps as she watched Professor Lafay demonstrate to them the procedure.
She went and retrieved the two dock leaves that she would need, and placed them in her mortar. Now she started to crush them with her pestle until they looked the same as the one that the Professor demonstrated with.
After she was done, she wiped her hands on her robes to get any bits off her hands before heading to the refrigerated section and carefully grabbing an Ashwinder Egg. She didn't want to risk breaking it on the way to her desk.
She broke it and added it to her mortar before quickly adding the four sprigs of Fluxweed. Then she added the mixture to the cauldron.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

With a flick of his wrist, Daichi's wand fell out of it's holster and in to his hand. He grabbed the mortar that was standing on the side of the table and placed it next to the cauldron. Pointing his wand at the mortar, he muttered a "Scourgify" and it cleaned himself. Hmm..now he thought about it, this was the only spell so far he in his years at Hogwarts he had done right the first try.
Reaching for the two dock leaves, he placed them in to the mortar and crushed it fine with the pestal. He looked around as the others stood up and went to the refrigerated section and after quickly looking at his notes, he too walked towards it. Daichi grabbed an Ashwinder Egg and moved back to his place. He broke it like instructed and added it to the mortar before quickly grabbing the sprigs fluxweed. 1. fluxweed, 2 fluxweed, 3 fluxweed, 4 fluxweed, 5 fluxweed...and added the mixture to the cauldron...O_o uhoh
Daichi's eyes widened as he realised that he had added to much and looked around in soft panic before he raised his arm...but then he quickly lowered it again, maybe...maybe it wasn't so bad? It was just one extra ingredient...And hopefully the Professor didn't even notice because he did not want to start over again...

*Add ten drops of Valerian root and Salamander blood in cauldron one at a time.
*add 2 dock leaves, 1 ashwinder egg and 4! sprigs fluxweed in mortar, crush fine and add to cauldron.
