Hecate had brought a tray with a few items on them. Flowers, Shellfish, Strawberries, peanuts and other things. Her large cauldron was seated on it's burner, which was not lit, before her.
She was in a good enough mood. Things were going well in her personal life. She just needed to get used to certain things... that would come with time. She opened the classroom, and waited for her students to file in.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!
"Good... Now take the valerian root and the salamander blood and add the drops in one at a time for each, alternating like this." She said and demonstrated in her own cauldron. One Valerian, One Salamander, One Valerian, One Salamander, One Valerian, One Salamander, etc...
Listening to what the professor had instructed them to do, Louisa wrote down some notes. She pushed her quill and parchment to the side then and pulled closer the valerian root and salamander blood containers.
Holding out the valerian root one in the right hand and the salamandar blood with the left, she started, "Valerian.. Salamander..Valerian.. Salamander..Valerian.. Salamander..Valerian.. Salamander...." Tipping each container carefully and dropping exactly one drop of each ingredient.
Selena listened to the professor carefully. Right, so they had to alternate with the Valerian root and salamander blood. And how many times, exactly? Ten. She looked at the ingredients and picked up the Valerian root in one hand, and the salamander blood in her other hand.
After completing the task, Selena scribbled down everything in her notes, before looking at the professor.

Amelia smiled to herself and then turned her attention back to Professor Lafay as she demonstrated the next step to them. Seemed pretty easy so far.
She picked up her Valerian root in her right hand, and the Salamander Blood in her left then started adding them both one drop at a time, alternating between the two.
One Valerian ... one Salamander ... one Valerian ... one Salamander ... one Valerian ... one Salamander ..... All the way until she had reached ten drops for each.
Tayla looked curiously at the tray Professor Lafay had with her. Flowers...strawberries... The items didn't look as - scary - as she would have expected.
She noticed a couple students sneeze and shook her head when Professor Lafay asked if anyone else were allergic to something in the room. Tayla didn't think she was allergic to anything, at least she hoped not. She took a careful sniff just to check... Nope. She unconsciously shook her head again.
Hearing the professor ask what an allergy was, Tayla raised her hand. "It's a reaction of the body to something that is...normally harmless."
Professor Lafay asked another question about potion ingredients and she raised her hand once more. "We could put the allergen in the potion, Professor," she replied. Other than that, Tayla didn't know. She wasn't the best at Potions and she usually made up for it by doing the best she could with assignments.
The list of ingredients appeared on the board. She wrote them down and added water to her cauldron as Professor Lafay instructed.
She noticed what her classmates were doing and followed. "Scourgify," she muttered, pointing her wand to her cauldron to clean it. Then pointing her wand towards it again, she said "Aguamenti," and the cauldron was quickly filled with water. Tayla smiled. Performing spells properly made her happy. Charms...now that was a subject Tayla was good at.
Paying attention to the Potions professor, she took the valerian root and salamander blood and added them into her cauldron, one at a time and alternating.
"Valerian root...salamander blood...valerian root...salamander blood..." 10 drops of each.

Elise nodded, eyeing the two vials. Alternating, she said? Paying veryveryclose attention, Elise took a mental video of what Professor Lafay was doing. Valerian in her left and salamander in her right. But Elise was pretty sure it didn't matter which hand you held it in, so she picked up the vials and peered into the cauldron.

Silvia retrieved some of the valerian root and salamander blood. Carefully, she added a drop of valerian root and then a drop of salamander blood, and continued to alternate between them until she had ten drops of each in the water-filled cauldron. She wondered why they had to alternate. Having finished the task, Silvia set the vials and droppers aside and waited for the next instructions.
Isabelle pulled out her wand and said "Scourgify," cleaning out her cauldron carefully before she began her potion. She didn't want to forget it again like she did last year. Next she had to fill her cauldron with water. "Aguamenti," good.
Then Isabelle grabbed the Valerian Root and Salamander Blood. One drop Valerian...one drop salamander...one drop valerian...one drop salamander. Until there where ten drops each then she wrote it all down in her notebook.
Procedure:
1. Clean the cauldron.
2. Fill the cauldron with water.
3. Alternate in dropping the Valerian Root and Salamander Blood. A total of ten drops each.
Justin pushed his quill and parchement aside and cleaned his cauldron, " Scougify." he said as he pointed his wand. When it was clean he said the incantation for water. " Aguamenti." and his caldron filled with water. Then he took the containers for theValarian Root and salamander blood and did as instructed." valarian root, salamander blood , valarian root , salamander blood, valarian root, salamander blood....." until he reached the proper count of drops for each.

Violet looked around the room to see what her classmates were doing and quickly caught up to where she was. Her cauldron need to be cleaned, so she said, "Scourgify!". Violet smiled that now her cauldron was in tip top shape. All the dust seemed to be gone the instant she said the spell which , of course, was how it was supposed to be.
The next step was to fill the cauldron with water...hmm..[i]Wasn't the spell Aguamenti? Violet remembered using it quite a bit in Herbology class so she pointed her wand at her cauldron and said "Aguamenti!" Instantly a fountain of water poured into the cauldron until it was full.
Violet checked the next step on her list. Um..Valerian Root and Salamander Blood? What was that? Violet looked around the room again to see what her classmates were doing and followed what the ingredients she needed.
Violet carefully alternated between the two ingredients slowly. She was absolutely scared to make a mistake so she counted slowly between the two ingredients until she had 10 drops of each. Violet hadn't realized she was holding her breath until she was done. She breathed a great sigh and crossed off the third step on her list.

She then looked at all of the ingredients on the table around her and got both the Valerian root and Salamander blood. She remembered Professor Lafay had dropped the Valerian root first, so she did the same.
"Good... Now take the valerian root and the salamander blood and add the drops in one at a time for each, alternating like this." She said and demonstrated in her own cauldron. One Valerian, One Salamander, One Valerian, One Salamander, One Valerian, One Salamander, etc...
Nessie took the potion droplet and alternated the droplets until she had reached ten for both Valerian root and salamader blood. She looked down at her notes and read what she would be adding next. She sat quietly in her seat for their next directions.

Now Lily had to catch up so she cleaned her cauldron before adding water into it. What was next. Oh right, valerian root and salamander blood, ten drops of each. Lily thought as she picked up her two ingredients and carefully added them to the cauldron. "1..2.....19...20" Lily counted as she added the valerian root and salamander blood, alternating as she did it. Once she had finished she looked back at her notebook before marking which steps had been completed, jotting notes as she went.
He then took out his want and cleaned his cauldron "Scourgify!" he then filled it with water as that was the first ingredient on the list and also the professor had said to fill their cauldrons with water "Aguamenti!! he filled his cauldron.. he then waited for further instructions but not before crossing off water on his list..
"Empty your cauldron, and start over." She said rolling her eyes. "One of the 5 Cs was cleanliness. Clean your cauldron, then start."

Harvey listened as the professor instructed them and demonstrated to them what was to be done with the Valerian root and Salamander blood. They were to alternate between the two ingredients.. so thats what Harvey did he alternated his two ingredients making sure that he added 10 drops of each as they were supposed to do.

Jezzabelle grabbed then valerian root and the salamander blood and ever so carefully did exactly what Professor Lafay said to do. Root. Blood. Root. Blood. She finally reached the tenth drop of root and the tenth drop of blood and moved to make notes on her parchment.

Ah. This seemed easy enough. Alex watched Lafay add her ingredients before gathering his own and prepared to add the Valerian Root. Bloop! He dropped it in his cauldron and then grabbed the salamander blood. He added another drop of that with a PLOP before going back to the roots.
Root.
Blood.
Root.
Blood.
On and on he went until he'd added 10 of each. There, all done! He set the extra ingredients aside and waited for Lafay to continue.

Taylor blushed in embarassment. She was suppose to be good at potions but she forgot the 5 Cs. Taylor quickly emptied her cauldron and scorched it to get it clean. She was hoping to start off on the right foot with the professor but alas her mess-up and the professor rolling her eyes didn't seem like that had gone off so well. Tay filled the cauldron with water again and started adding the drops like the professor demostrated.

Sierra glanced up from the cauldron when the next set of directions were given. She reached forward and selected the essence of Valerian root. Holding it tightly in her left hand, she reached forward with her right and grabbed a hold of the salamander blood. With one ingredient in each of her hands, she moved toward the cauldron. She positioned both hands above the cauldron then tilted the essence of Valerian root toward the inside. A single drop of it landed inside the cauldron. Then she tilted the salamander blood toward the inside of the cauldron and added a drop of it, as well.

The process continued until she'd added ten drops of each, and then she returned both the ingredients back to where they'd been and waited for the next set of directions.
Oakey looked forward at his Cauldron It certainly didn't seem dirty, it could have some remnants of a previous potion in it but it looked pretty darn clean from the outside. To be safe He quickly cast Scourgify at his Couldron. We'll now it looked super clean, it even sparkled a little. With another quick swish he cast Aguamenti and a flow of water came from the tip of his wand and landed inside of his Couldron.
Right, okay. Oakey took the Valerian root in his left hand and the Salamander Blood in his right and began alternating the drops into his cauldron as Lafay had just demonstrated. by the 6th drop of each of the ingredients Oakey began feeling like a robot in an assembly line mindlessly dropping the ingredients into his concoction.

Slightly nervous that she had put the proper thing in first, Kurumi raised her hand to ask a question. "Professor Lafay, does it matter which of the two are added first?" Perhaps the chemical reaction or something within the components would change or something.

Easy enough, she thought, taking her wand out again and Scourgifying the droppers a second time before adding to her notes. It would be needed again later, after all.

India winced out of well, pity for the person who had to restart their potion already. After only one step? Looking down at her own water filled cauldron she sighed. Now ten drops and Valerian Root and Salamander blood one at a time - and alternating them.
Great.
She had a little idea - a note for every time someone had to restart a potion. No, she'd doodle a carrot - so far there was only one.
Taking out her Valerian Root and Salamander blood she tried to decide which would go first. Valerian root it would be.
One drop Valerian Root.
One drop Salamander Blood.
One drop Valerian Root.
One Drop Salamander.
She counted for a minute - that was two each, she needed a total of eight more of each.
Yet another Valerian Root.
And again with the Salamander Blood.
She suddenly wondered how long it took to extract the salamander's blood with how small they were. Did they use Venipuncture needles like they did with muggles - or was it simply draining and extracting of all different things. Sure some potion out there had to call for Salamander eyeballs or salamander tongues.
Ew. Okay, so now she was up to a measly three. Seven more.
Valerian Root.
Salamander Blood.

Zhenya listened carefully and marked the next ingredient with a line under it. What if she put the salamander blood in first and it ruined the potion? Well... She didnt want to think about that.
She looked at her ingredients and found both the ones she needed. Then she thought it might be good to put her ingredients in a row, so as she went back down her list she lined them all up.
Now, she needed to alternate drops between both ingredients. She could do that. Picking up the valerian root she put one drop in. Then she picked up the salamander blood and put one drop in. She kept alternating between the two with only one drop each until there were 10 drops of both ingredients. Then she Put them down where they belonged in her organised row of ingredients and waited for professor Lafay to begin with her next ingredient.

She took the Valerian root and Salamander blood out and put them both over the cauldron. One in each hand. She put the first drop of Valerian Root in the water, then then Salamander blood, then she did the second Valerian Root, then the second salamander blood. She kept doing this through the ten drops of each Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander. Once she had done each ten times she put them aside and waiting for the next instruction.

The list of ingredients appeared on the board. She wrote them down and added water to her cauldron as Professor Lafay instructed.
She noticed what her classmates were doing and followed. "Scourgify," she muttered, pointing her wand to her cauldron to clean it. Then pointing her wand towards it again, she said "Aguamenti," and the cauldron was quickly filled with water. Tayla smiled. Performing spells properly made her happy. Charms...now that was a subject Tayla was good at.
Paying attention to the Potions professor, she took the valerian root and salamander blood and added them into her cauldron, one at a time and alternating.
"Valerian root...salamander blood...valerian root...salamander blood..." 10 drops of each.

Break it and add it to the mortar, then quickly add the 4 sprigs Fluxweed. This stops the egg breakdown and gives you enough time to add the whole mixture to the cauldron... like so." She said and demonstrated.

Sky pulled out her mortar and pestle, cast a quick "Scourgify!" on them, placed the two dock leaves in the mortar and crushed them with the pestle. Now Ashwinder eggs. She went over to the refrigerated section, carefully picked up an egg, and went back to her station. She broke the egg and poured the insides into her mortar, then quickly added the four sprigs fluxweed. She poured the whole thing into her cauldron and waited for the next instruction.

Zhenya listened to professor Lafay as she demonstrated the next steps. She pulled out her mortar and pestle and said "Scorgify" to give it a clean. She quickly ran her finger in it and looked at the outside of it to make sure it wasn't broken or anything.
Next step was to crush the 2 dock leaves. So she looked at the I greediest which was next to the salamander blood and picked it up, counting two leaves, which she place into her mortar and crushed it with her pestle. It looked good, like the professors demonstration.
Right - next. She went to the fridge and retrieved an ashwinder egg and went back to where her cauldron and equipment was all set up. She has to... Break the egg? Oh no, she was useless at breaking eggs. Her own mother had banned her from breaking them inside her pristine kitchen. Okay, we'll she wasnt about to ask for help to crack an egg. She tried her best and saw that quick was best. Quick meant she didn't have time to think about what she was doing. Quickly she neatly and carefully smashed the egg on the corner of the mortar and broke it inside the mortar. There were a few bits of shell in there but she found a stirer and picked them our without disturbing the dock leaves or the egg.
Next step was to quickly add four of the fluxweed sprigs to the mortar. Then she saw it was time to add all of that to the cauldron, which she did quickly.

Alyssa looked as the Professor demonstrated the next steps to making the potion. Then she quickly noted down those next steps into her journal.

Alyssa put down her quill and made her way to the Potions Ingredients cupboard to retrieve 2 dock leaves and 4 sprigs of Fluxweed from it. She took the ingredients back to her workstation. Picking up the mortar, she took out her wand and pointing it inside the mortar, cleaned it by saying,"Scourgify". Then she did the same for the pestle before she holstered her wand. She examined both to make sure they were clean before she added the 2 dock leaves into the mortar. Picking up her pestel, she pressed onto the dock leaves and proceeded to crush them.
Once she was done crushing the dock leaves, Alyssa walked over to the Refrigerated section of the classroom and removed an Ashwinder Egg from it. Taking it back to her workstation, Alysssa quickly broke it before it started to heat up again. She poured its contents into the mortar, making sure that no pieces of its shell dropped in. She then quickly added the 4 sprigs of Fluxweed into the mortar, before picking up the mortar and pouring its contents into her cauldron.
Alyssa looked into her cauldron to make sure that the mixture was mixing properly. Then she sat back and waited for further instructions.

Next step: crush the dock leaves and get the ashwinder egg plus the fluxweed. Jonathan started to memorize the next steps into his head. He tapped his fingers onto the table and looked at the professor doing the demonstration. Seems to be, sorta, easy. Okay... Jonathan's turn.
He took out his mortar and pestle and took his wand that was on the table. He pointed his wand over the mortar and pestle "Scourgify!" he cleaned it before using it.
He took 2 dock leaves as the professor had said and started to crush it into the mortar and pestle. Until the dock leaves were crushed enough, he went to the refrigerator and removed an ashwinder egg. He came back to his table and broke the egg and added it into the mortar. Without waiting for long he then added the fluxweed immediately as seen with Professor Lafay's demonstration earlier.

Raven would use the mortar and pestle for the next step. She cleaned it first. "Scourgify." Then, what's next?

Okay.. She took two dock leaves, put it on her mortar and crushed it with the pestle. Then she go to the refrigerated section, removed the ashwinder egg and added it to the mortar, after that put 4 sprigs fluxweed quickly and poured it to her cauldron. Then, she made sure that it mixed properly.

Procedure
- Fill cauldron with water.
- Alternate drops of Valerian root and Salamander blood (use all of it)
- Crush both of the dock leaves (mortar), adding an Ashwinder Egg (must be kept in the refrigerator) then all of the springs Fluxweed* (quickly!). Pour the mixture into the cauldron.

Getting the 2 dock leaves, she was about to place them in her mortar when she heard the other students using the Cleaning Spell again. So she pulled out her wand and pointed it at the mortar. "Scourgify!" Nothing seemed to happen again. Sophie shrugged and placed the dock leaves in her mortar, crushing them with the pestal anyway.
She went to the refrigerated area and carefully got an Ashwinder Egg and walked back to where all of her stuff was. Before breaking it and adding it to the mortar, Sophie made sure the springs Fluxweed were close enough for her to be able to do everything fast and without making a mess.
Holding her breath, Sophie broke the egg and put it in the mortar, then quickly added the 4 springs Fluxweed. She glanced at the mixture for a fraction of seconds and poured it into her cauldron. She breathed again and stared at her potion with a small smile for a little while before looking back up at Professor Lafay.
