Hecate had brought a tray with a few items on them. Flowers, Shellfish, Strawberries, peanuts and other things. Her large cauldron was seated on it's burner, which was not lit, before her.
She was in a good enough mood. Things were going well in her personal life. She just needed to get used to certain things... that would come with time. She opened the classroom, and waited for her students to file in.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!

When the next step was explained, Gideon picked up the two vials, loosening up both stoppers so he could work with then simultanuously as directed. He watched the professor's demonstration, jotting down notes on the matter for future reference. Making sure he knew which was which, he then began carefully dropping one drop of each in sucession until he had added 10 drops of each.

Mortimer nodded as he watched Professor Lafay demonstrate how exactly to add the Salamander blood and Valerian root. Now taking the valerian extract and the salamander blood in each hand he alternated between drops until he had 10 of each added to his cauldron.
Kennedy set his quill down and listened to what the next steps were. First, he took the Valerian root and dropped one drop into the cauldron, then he added a drop of the Salamander blood, and repeated this procedure until he counted ten drops of each ingredient.
He picked up his quill and drew a check mark next to the items that had been used.

Kurumi looked up when Professor Lafay spoke and a gave them the next set of instructions. Making sure that her station was still clean, Kurumi picked up the vials containing the salamander blood and the valerian root in each hand. Now...which one had Professor Lafay dropped in first? Did it matter? Kurumi glanced at her parchment again. Well...valerian root was listed first...so...take a gander and put that one in first?
Kurumi tipped her right hand forward and allowed one drop of valerian root in and then tipped the vial in her left hand containing the salamander blood. right hand...left hand...right hand...left hand... Once all ten drops of each were in, Kurumi set the vials down and returned to her parchment for a moment.

Procedure:
Clean cauldron
Fill cauldron with water
Add the 10 drops of valerian root & salamander blood one at a time alternating between the two
Slightly nervous that she had put the proper thing in first, Kurumi raised her hand to ask a question. "Professor Lafay, does it matter which of the two are added first?" Perhaps the chemical reaction or something within the components would change or something.

So far, it seemed things were going along rather well. Only one person had been told to start over, and it hadn't been Stella. Her luck was continuing, it seemed, even if she still wasn't certain she wanted the luck to get through Potions class without an explosion or other massive fail moment. She had a feeling the professor wouldn't appreciate accidentally dropping either vial, but once she was safely back in her seat, she set them down on the table. Before she dealt with them, she wanted to make sure her dropper was spotless, in addition to locating a second one to accomplish the task. Scourgifying both droppers, she applied herself to gathering each ingredient in them then returned to her cauldron. One at a time, she reminded herself, letting one drop of valerian root drip into the water, followed by a drop of salamander blood, and repeated that until ten drops of each were added. Easy enough, she thought, taking her wand out again and Scourgifying the droppers a second time before adding to her notes. It would be needed again later, after all.

Jordan added the next instructions to his notes, remembering that he had to alternate between Valerian Root and Salamander Blood. He then looked around trying to find the next ingrediants. Where were they?
Once he'd found them he began to pour one drop of each into the potion after another. Valerian Root then Salamander Blood, he repeated this until he'd done all 10 drops in. What next?
Clean cauldron
Fill cauldron with water
Add the 10 drops of valerian root & salamander blood one at a time alternating between the two

India winced out of well, pity for the person who had to restart their potion already. After only one step? Looking down at her own water filled cauldron she sighed. Now ten drops and Valerian Root and Salamander blood one at a time - and alternating them.
Great.
She had a little idea - a note for every time someone had to restart a potion. No, she'd doodle a carrot - so far there was only one.
Taking out her Valerian Root and Salamander blood she tried to decide which would go first. Valerian root it would be.
One drop Valerian Root.
One drop Salamander Blood.
One drop Valerian Root.
One Drop Salamander.
She counted for a minute - that was two each, she needed a total of eight more of each.
Yet another Valerian Root.
And again with the Salamander Blood.
She suddenly wondered how long it took to extract the salamander's blood with how small they were. Did they use Venipuncture needles like they did with muggles - or was it simply draining and extracting of all different things. Sure some potion out there had to call for Salamander eyeballs or salamander tongues.
Ew. Okay, so now she was up to a measly three. Seven more.
Valerian Root.
Salamander Blood.
Weren't Salamander's cold blooded - and sluggish in cold weather. It'd be easy to capture them in the fall or winter then wouldn't it. But are they around then? Do they simply hibernate.

Vickers copied the next set of instructions on his parchment before focusing his attention back to his cauldron, eying the salamander blood and the valerian root. Carefully, he squeezed each dropper to fill them with their respective ingredients, then held them above his cauldron. He remembered the Professor adding the Valerian root first so squeezed that dropper he did, and watched the first drop to fall into the cauldron. He then squeezed the salamander blood's dropper, then alternated it with the valerian root dropper again. He counted the drops until he reached ten, then set both droppers back down onto a container.

- Alternately add a drop of each ingredient until 10 drops of each have been added into the cauldron.

That student ought to familiarize the 5Cs, she thought as she saw Professor Lafay telling off someone from their own house for not cleaning the cauldron first. It was a good thing she didn't lost points.
When they were all done filling their cauldron with water, the Potions Mistress gave the first step and before she followed it, she jotted it on her parchment first.
Zhenya listened carefully and marked the next ingredient with a line under it. What if she put the salamander blood in first and it ruined the potion? Well... She didnt want to think about that.
She looked at her ingredients and found both the ones she needed. Then she thought it might be good to put her ingredients in a row, so as she went back down her list she lined them all up.
Now, she needed to alternate drops between both ingredients. She could do that. Picking up the valerian root she put one drop in. Then she picked up the salamander blood and put one drop in. She kept alternating between the two with only one drop each until there were 10 drops of both ingredients. Then she Put them down where they belonged in her organised row of ingredients and waited for professor Lafay to begin with her next ingredient.

Going back to his station, Jonathan placed his wand onto the side, in case he'll need it in awhile. Following the next step is to drop 10 drops Valerian root and 10 drops Salamander Blood.
Okay, 10 drops it is. 1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8....9...10...11...12. ..13...14...15...16....17...18...19...20--- he dropped 10 drops of valerian root & salamander blood alternating the two into his cauldron.

After taking some quick notes , Daichi grabbed his cauldron and placed it on his desk. He had no allergies as far as he knew. Grabbing his wand, he let out a sigh trying to calm himself. He remembered from last year that the Professor had told him to concentrate when using magic. Taking another breath , Daichi nodded his head once and he pointed his wand at the cauldron. "Scourgify!" he said as he concentrated on the spell and watched with amazement when the cauldron became cleaner than it already was. Grinning to himself , Daichi re pointed his wand and said. With the next step, Daichi placed his wand back in it's holster and grabbed the valerian root and salamander blood. He watched as the Professor demonstrated how to add the ingredients and he did the same thing. He quickly checked his parchment to see how many he should add and started to drop ten valerian roots drops and ten drops of Salamander blood in to the cauldron.

Right, One drop of Valerian root, One drop of Salamander blood. Ten times. tedious, but necessary. She did as she was told and began the count.
She took the Valerian root and Salamander blood out and put them both over the cauldron. One in each hand. She put the first drop of Valerian Root in the water, then then Salamander blood, then she did the second Valerian Root, then the second salamander blood. She kept doing this through the ten drops of each Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander, Valerian, Salamander. Once she had done each ten times she put them aside and waiting for the next instruction.
Nate listened to the professor and added 1 valerian. 1 salamander. 1 valerian. 1 salamander. 1 valerian. 1 salamander. 1 valerian, then 1 salamander. He kept on adding in the ingrediants until he used them all up. He waited for the professors next instructions.
Autumn listened carefully, and watched the professor demonstrate.
Autumn took her valerian roots and her salamander blood and added them alternitivly. valerian roots, salamander blood,
valerian roots, salamader blood.
she carried on until she had 10 drops of each.
she put the remender of the ingrediants to rest on the desk and waited for further instructions.

Messer watched carefully when Professor Lafay demonstrate them how to add the valerian root and the salamander blood into the potion. He took the valerian root and the salamander blood, one in each hand. He added the first drop of valerian root into his cauldron then the salamander blood then he did the second Valerian Root, then the second salamander blood and repeated that process until ten drops of each were added.

LuLu listened to proffeser Lafay.. with the salender.. and the other thing.... She nodded and did as she said... The quicker she did it the quicker she could get on with it!!! So One Valerian, One Salamander, One Valerian, One Salamander, One Valerian, One Salamander, One Valerian, One Salamander... and it went on and on... until she had ten drops of each ingrediant!
Selina was starting to get very ansy. Perhaps if she slipped out of Potions now she could spate the classroom the blunder that was bound to happen. Honestly, she was not a potion person; her absense would not be missed. In fact, she might actually spare someone the hospital trip from her bad potion.
But Lafay scared her so she did not move. Instead she did as she was told dropping in one valerian drop and then one drop of salamander blood. And it went on and on until she completed the ten drops. So far, so... Ehhhh still not so good.
He was too busy writing down notes when people started to brew already. He quickly scirbbled the remaining notes, pushed it to the side and pulled out his wand as he pointed it into the cauldron. "Scourgify," said the blonde Slytherin clearly. Wand still pointed into the cauldron, he gulped before performing another spell. "Aguamenti!" said he with a louder and clearer voice. Conjuration was no easy form of magic! Now that he had cleaned the cauldron and filled it with water, Hades picked up the Valerian root and salamander blood and dropped them alternately, ten drops each. Now what?

Vlimia added a drop of valerian root, then a crimson drop of salamander blood. The blood slowly fell into the cauldron, and caused little scarlet ripples along the surface of the otherwise level water. A slight shiver went down Vlimia's spine, because she hated seeing blood of any kind. She took a deep breath, and added valerian root. That part was fine. Then she added the blood, and once again it dropped into the water and caused little underwater smoke rings the colour of red wine. Vlim decided to simply put in the blood with her eyes averted. After alternating putting them in until there was ten of each in the cauldron, Vlimia sighed a sigh of relief. Then she waited ofr her next instructions.
1. Make sure your cauldron is clean, and then fill it up with water.
2. Put in drops of Valerian and Salamander Blood one at a time, alternating between them until they each have ten drops in the cauldron.

Kimalia waited patiently watching Professor Lafay add her first two ingredients in. Okay, alternatively add them in one at a time, simple. Taking the Valerian root she added one drop, then switched to the Salamander blood and added one drop of that, continuing the pattern ten times each. Great, Kimalia checked off the steps she completed and waited for the next one.
