Taking hold of a set of paints, still trying to decide on just how far he would go with the professor's plans. Turning around, Gideon heard a familiar voice asking for people who needed partners and he relaxed a little. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad even though it felt odd constantly partnering up with her.

At least they both had one step of the hair done naturally, he mused absently taking notice of her red hair.

"Technically I do," he answered, making his way over to her desk. "That if you'll have me. Not sure about all this dressing up though." he admitted giving up on the costumes. he had dressed up in similar getup when he was younger for halloween...he didn't need to go back there.

Jesifur shrugged and picked up the paint and gave her face a white base. Above and below her eyes she painted small black triangles with little dots just beyond the points. For the lips Jesifur blotted the white on the corners and edges of her mouth and took the red and painted an almost heart shaped lip on. For the final touch on the left cheek she painted two bright blue teardrops. "There," she said holding up a mirror for the girl to see, "What do you think?"

"You can do whatever for me, I'm feeling a bit adventurous already." she said smiling.

Caroline must have dozed off or was day dreaming. Partners they needed partners? She scanned the room as she got up to get what she needed. On the way back to her seat she looked around for a partner. She could just do it alone. Until she seen Selina sitting there. Was she looking for a partner? "Selina, Want need a parnter?" she grinned at the younger girl.

Excellent! Free reign! With a happy smile, Kourt popped the top to one of paint containers and removed a brush. "Oo, a surprise. Great idea."

She busied herself filling out Olivia's face in white, as most clown's faces were. Then she switched to color paints. Hmm...flowers might be nice.

Carefully, she started to paint the stem of the flower on Olivia's cheek. She was no expert by any means, but it looked pretty good. Tracing the petals now, she worked the brush in small circles and added a leaf or two.

With a giggle, she set the brush down. "I think I'm done; it's a pretty flower."

Olivia tried not to giggle or scrunch up her face while she was having her face painted. It was really tickley and she was a very ticklish person. A flower? That was nice and unexpected, she'd honestly been expecting a normal clown face. She much preferred the flower pattern, not scary at all unlike stupid normal clowns. If only she'd brought a mirror with her to class.

"My turn now!" Olivia grabbed a brush and the paints. "Any requests?"

"Okay, so let's get something out of the way. I promise not to make you look silly if you don't do it to me, ok? Ohhhh!!

They were getting to play DRESS UP! Destiny, being the eighteen year old that she was, still enjoyed doing things like that. The make-up, she could live without, but it was going to be like a clown, so that was okay. And the hair! She wanted hers red just like Professor Magnus'. Just.. without the curls.

Grinning widely, she glanced around the room looking for a partner. She was just about to call for Evelyn, but she seemed to be busy with Marilyn.. Carter! When did he sit next to her?

Oh well. That didn't matter. He was now her partner.

"Caaaarteeeer. Can I put your make-up on for you?"

Please!?

As the first question shot in the air, hands all over the classroom immediately raised up too. The students answered rather perfectly. So Beezus raised her hand and awaited her turn.

When it was time for her to speak, she stood up, "Professor. Those people are called Metamorphmagus. Which in its plural form if Metamorphmagi." she answered. After giving her idea, she returned back to her seat.

Her blue eyes traveled up to his hair and she suddenly realized something, "Wait... you only have to change one thing about your hair too."

Writing all this up on the board, Issy wiped her hands on a cloth she had kept on the table. Chalk dust got everywhere. "Now, I don't know if any of you were aware that a carnival rolled into Diagon Alley over the summer..." she looked around them and smiled. They seemed like the sort that would have gone. "But that has influenced how I want you all to perform these spells."

The grin on her face twitched wider as she pointed her wand at her head. A quick tap and her once long brown hair shrunk and became frizzy, until it looked very much like an afro style. Another tap changed it to a bright red colour. Surely they could now see where she was going with this? "That's right. You're going to become clowns for this lesson." Evil? Probably to those who cared what they looked like. Fun? Heck yes.

"Before we get on with the spells though, I want you all to look the part. So please find a partner for this bit, because it's more fun that way, and come up and collect one of these sets of face paints." Isabelle reached inside one of the boxes on her desk and produced a pile of other boxes, each containing paints for them to use. She then walked over to the trunks and threw back the lids. "AND I have costumes for you to wear! Come and get one, get changed, then please do your partners make up. We'll move on when you've all completed that."

OOC: You don't NEED a partner for this bit, but it is fun to paint all over someone else's face ;) If you want to do it on your own that is fine. Just have your character come and get a costume, change, and then pick up a painting kit. Sit in your pairs (if you're in one) and have fun! We'll move on later. Chatting about the task only please!

They were to become clowns ? Sounds amazing. The Ravenclaw girl have never tried being one but she enjoyed the idea with working with others. They ought to become funny now. She never thought Transfiguration would likely be funny as this one.

But then, she doesn't have a partner yet. Beezus looked around and saw almost all the other students with partners already and starting with their make-ups. But she can't find anyone who'll possibly pair with her. "Errrr....Does anyone want to pair with me ?" she called out to the busy crowd.

Carter wondered if he'd feel more comfortable with Shaw and the chainsaw.

...At least the professor didn't call it 'dress up'.

o_O

Carter sunk slightly in his chair when Destiny asked if she could do his 'makeup'. "It's face paint Destiny." Not makeup. "And..." he gave a quick look around the room. If Destiny was his best choice to sit next to, she was probably his best choice for a partner.

"Sure. As long as I can paint a sheep on your face." Because, Destiny reminded Carter of sheep. And despite thinking about it for years, he still had no idea how that sheep got on top of the television at her house.

"Do you want to get the... clown suits? And I'll go get the paint." he suggested. And yes. He was about to trust Destiny to pick out a clown suit for him.

They agreed on the face paint, but the outfit still... "Then I'm losing half of my participation points." she muttered as she stood up to get one of the face painting kits. NOT the outfit. Nooooooo, she didn't go anywhere near those, and if she did, she just STARED at them, daring them to touch her. Evil things.

Sitting back down in her seat, she stared at the face painting kit before...placing it on Marilyn's desk. Hmmm, her own desk was full of notebook, quill, and ink. No room. Hehe.

Marilyn stared down at the face painting kit with...disgust? No...nervousness? Perhaps. Flipping the package around, she read the back carefully. There was NO WAY she'd put anything on her face that was permanent...If she wouldn't have checked, something bad would've happened...

Like usual...

Taking the colors from the package, she laid them out on her desk (since Evelyn's was SOOOO overrun) to let her partner choose.

The snob in her was pleased that the Head Girl was just as opposed to wearing the clown suits. Seriously, Marilyn had traumatic experiences linked to circus clowns. It was hard to think about what her emotional reaction would have been to actually putting one on.

"If you want butterflies, we could do RED ones for Joshua..."

João could only blink and stay glued to his chair as people's mental stage turned out to be at the age of only seven. In fact, he didn't do such a silly thing even when he was seven. He only watched with a slightly disgusted and confused expression as if he was seeing such a thing for the first time. Well, he indeed was seeing people ABOVE the age nine playing such a child's game.

He'd rather pass that, thank you.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Jenny," she greeted in return as she thoroughly dipped her fingers in green paint. One second later, she (gently) poked at the Gryffindor's face - ninja style.

Merlin this class moves fast o__________________O No sleeping for me I guess xD

Kurumi sat very quietly as Professor Magnus began the lesson, wishing now more than ever that she had been able to have that personal discussion with her. Did the lesson really have to discuss Metamorphagi? Kurumi sunk down low in her seat in the front, wishing very much that she could just disappear right there and feeling completely uninclined to chime in for any of the questions. The topic was one that those close to her knew she tried to avoid. She had spent the first three terms at Hogwarts hiding and even now, despite the support and training from her father, still didn't accept that part of herself.

She did take notes on the two spells, but didn't make much other movement until they were instructed to gather some face paints. Kurumi slowly made her way to the front of the room and took a set from Professor Magnus, pausing for a moment to collect her thoughts.

"P-Professor...will these spells work on people that can already change their appearance at will? I-I mean...will they still work properly on Metamorphagi?" Her eyes were downcast and she couldn't bring herself to look at the woman. If only she had been able to have that conversation...

----

Kurumi then made her way back to her seat and watched as everyone else paired up and began painting each other's faces. Kurumi's face, however, was a bit gloomy and she merely set the paints on her desk and waited.

"Sure, I can do a butterfly." Olivia wasn't a bad artist and a butterfly would be pretty simple for her to do and it would be a chance to use plenty of different colours, nice and bright.

She started with a base coat of white all over Kourtney's face before turning her attention to the shape of a butterfly. Then she grabbed the red paint and painted the base coat of the wings, one on each cheek. The center of her face became the body of the butterfly and the antennae on her forehead. Once that was done she added other colours on the wings, blues, yellows and greens. It was a shame there was no glitter really...

"All done!" she said with a grin, hoping that it would be okay.

"Yep, already have the curly hair all my life," he answered smiling as Selina registered what he had already picked up on. It wouldn't be too much of a change for either of them and as long as they did the spell right it shouldn't look too terrible. And it would be reversible."Just need the red hair or whatever color we make it," he added.

Should he just make it red and match hers when she went curly?

Presley Black 09-15-2011 10:02 PM

Under no circumstances did Presley want ANYBODY putting paint on her face. She'd picked up her stuff, and now it sat on her desk, while she glared at the offensive objects. Why on Godrics green earth did they have to look like clowns to perform a spell? Pres couldn't do spells right now anyway. Her freaking wand arm was in a cast! But to be able to change her eye color? For as long as she could remember, Presley had wanted to be able to change her appearance at will. Her eyes especially. They'd been vibrant purple until she was about eight, at which point they'd begun slowly changing. Now they were an amber brown. And she wanted her purple back. It had made her unique. Well, excepting Kurumi and Violet.

They were.. being clowns for this lesson? How.. how odd. But strangely fitting. Brooke watched the professor as she changed her hair, and was a bit unsure of it. "Professor?" she called. "There's a way to reverse the.. hair right?" THERE HAD TO BE.

She shrugged off her robe quickly, knowing she wouldn't need it. With a little giggle, Brooklyn hopped up from her seat and skipped over to the trunks full of clown-wear. With a grin, she threw on one of the costumes over her clothes and and glanced down at it. Sure, it was the most HIDEOUS thing she had ever seen, but if she were to be a clown, what would it matter?

She glanced about the room after picking up a painting kit. "Anyone want me to paint their face?" Although.. she wasn't quite sure what she'd paint on someone's face. Maybe white? then put triangles and other shapes on their cheeks? Yeah, that seemed right.

It wasn't long before the outline was finished, and the colors were added to fill in the wings and other parts of the butterfly.

With a grin, Kourt leaped up and scampered back to her desk, pulling open her bag and rummaging through it. Ah, she knew she had it. Walking back towards Olivia, she peered at herself in the mirror. "Oh, wow. This came out great!" She looked up, her eyes bright. "Too bad we can't make the wings move."

She laughed and handed the mirror to Olivia for her to see Kourtney's work.

"You are all, of course correct," Issy beamed, clapping her hands together. "A Metamorphmagus...or 'magi' for the plural," she nodded in the direction of the students who had said that one, too. "Now it's a very rare gift, few people have the ability. And, as I'm sure you know, alot of it depends on emotion." She moved from the front of her desk and began walking up and down the aisles. Issy found it better to move as she talked.

"So unfortunately for you all, it's not something I can teach you. HOWEVER there are spells that you can use to change your appearance - and in this lesson you will be doing two of them." Stopping by the board, Issy cleaned it herself and used the chalk to write by hand. Two spells, which were...

"Can anyone tell me what they think these two spells do? They both change the same part of you, just in different ways."

Willaim raised his hand. " They change your hair color and the shape of yoru body" Willaim said to the professor.

Oh, Hugo was first!

Hmm. "I'm afraid not, no. They both change it for however long you want, until you use the counterspell. Good try though," Issy grinned.

"You are very close to the right part of the body, just a little further north." Oooh, cryptic. But she was sure Evelyn could work that one out.

"That is a good guess, based on the words..." *pause* She didn't know his name. Ploughing on. "But we're not doing human to animal transformations in today's lesson." Grin.

"Go a little further up and you'll get the right area." Isabelle winked at Josh and walked past to the next person.

"It sounds like it could, but no, I'm afraid it doesn't. And Ristaris is not the counterspell either, we have another for that. Good try though."

Aww, this one seemed nervous. Whether it was about getting the answer right, or that she'd be turned into a cat, Issy wasn't sure. But she reassured her anyway. "Not whiskers, no. Not today anyway."

"Again you are very close to the right area, just a little bit away from it." Isabelle nodded at Destiny as she walked past the girl's desk. Some of them were getting SO CLOSE.

AND BINGO.

Especially bingo to the young Ravenclaw girl with the curly hair. "You three are correct! Especially you my dear," she pointed at Indy and smiled. "They do indeed change your hair. Felintas changes the length and style, and Ristaris changes the colour - it can also be used on eyes, but not today."

Willaim got his costume. He got big yellow shoes. He is wearing a red large shirt that is bigger than him with black and rex pants with reD suspenders. He has a black polka dot pointed hat on his head. He will never be an evil clown.

She started glancing around. She really needs to work now or she'll be doomed. The class was starting and going so fast ! And then she saw the beautiful Prefect girl. She didn't seem to have a partner too. Kurumi was it ? She can't be shy now, she really need to approach the Prefect.

"Errrr.. hello, I see you don't have a partner. Can I just be it then ?" she asked hesitantly. When the girl nodded, they immediately started the make-up and costume session. Paint. Paint. Paint. Paint.

Was Carter a party pooper or what?

"Face paint, makeup. It both goes on your face, right?" Unless there were other places to put makeup that Destiny didn't know about. But, she was not going to think about that. No, she was going to make puppy dog eyes at Carter until he agreed to let her.

And it didn't take very long.

Clapping her hands together excitedly, she nodded her head. "Sure, sure. You can put a sheep on my face." Although, she wasn't sure what that had to do with being a clown. At least she'd make sure Carter would look like a clown. And he would be the best clown in the class!

She raised an eyebrow as he whispered about the clown suits, and replacing her grin with a smirk, she hopped from her desk and made her way to the trunks up front. The Gryffindor was lucky all the costumes were the same. Picking up two, she skipped her way back over to her seat and placed one of the suits onto his desk. She was so excited!
