O__o

Excuse me? Did.. the teacher say that they had to be clowns? Like all of them? Even the ones with the word 'teen' in their age? Like her? Fourteen? It meant they were not children hence no-clowns-fans. Louisa watched as everyone got a partner. They were serious?

She scoffed a few times, blinked, and stayed glued to her spot. She was not going to draw on her face. No. That was too childish!

... she'd like to do it on someone, though. Just to practice the spell. Looking around she started to scan the students for the most suitable victim partner.

She was waving her arms about like a gigantic octopus, shouting out her request for a partner. Grudgingly, Rory stepped forward.

"I guess..." he started, "I'll be your partner." He had a feeling that as soon as she heard this, she would throw her arms around him and squeal and...well, do other absurd things.

What was this?

Lola was awkwardly twirling her arms, waiting for someone to go and partner up with her. Beneath her interpretive dancing, the girl felt cold, lonely, REJECTED by society. As she was about to leap out for the next step into being an outcast, this young, young angel stepped out of his way... to save her... from the abyss.

So innocent. So un-corrupted. She wanted to own this boy.

"Oh, you," she started, dramatically putting her hand to her face as if touched by his kindness, "so sweet! Thy shalt never disown a sweet, SWEET little fawn as you are right now..." Lola then cradled her partner in her arms for a moment or so, running his fingers through his hair and then--his hair--HIS HAIR...

A GIFT FROM THE GODS?

Slowly, she ran through his hair one more time. She needed to take a breath, this was too much for the Lola Jones. "Let's start with your make-up darling, now now, you'll look GAAAAHRGAHHHS~" Oh how lucky he was to have a partner like her.

Jenny raised her eyebrows. Clowns? Really? She had the unfortunate luck of meeting a very depressed, suicidal clown in the streets once...she didn't need a reminder of that again.

Going with the inevitable anyway, Jenny walked up to the front of the class and grabbed some face paint and a costume. She looked around to see if anyone was looking for a partner...but then again, did she really want to wear clown make-up? And then there's the fact that she hadn't talked to anyone since term started....

In fact, she wasn't even going to partner up with anyone until LOLA offered the World a partner. Then... "Little Hutchinson!" Ellie called to Indiana, and made a motion with her head for the girl to come join her. Yeah, she was NOT going to be left with LOLA as her partner.

She could paint the little girl's face. And maybe she'll let Little Hutchinson paint hers. But that was as far as she was going with this 'clown' business.

How incredibly rude! Violet couldn't believe it, just as she had gone up to the Ravenclaw girl and stuck out her hand, another older girl just butted in out of nowhere and ordered her potential partner away, and now Violet was stuck standing alone with her hand out like a fool. And without a partner. And by now everyone was pairing up and she might not be able to find one. Violet hated, hated, hated assignments where they had to pair up--she didn't know many people, and she had been isolated so much while she was growing up that she wasn't good at socializing.

But she had never been to a carnival and had no idea what a clown was supposed to look like, so she really, really needed another student to pair up with. She turned her head back and forth, looking around the room, desparately hoping she could find another unpaired student.

Hehe. He liked that idea better.

"We're SO going to be in character!" He beamed, excited to paint her a new face. Oooh. There were sooo many ideas swimming around in his head.

"Princess Victoria M. Bunbury," Tori answered quickly, taking the clown costume and eying it with suspicion. "But you can call me Princess Tori for short." She smiled at him but then looked back down at the costume, sighing greatly like it pained her to put it on.

Which it did. Once it was over her head, Tori was absolutely certain that she looked ridiculous. No need to make the situation worse by going by 'Clown 2.'

"No thanks," she informed Ezra. "We've got enough clowning around to do just with the costumes and the makeup." Har har. "Can I paint you first?" She smiled sweetly and reached out for the paints. Heheheheh. He was gonna look SO be-you-tiful!

All you miserable peeps are so precious. :P

Isabelle grinned as student by student came up and grabbed a costume and make up kit. Then she looked around at the faces of the rest of them. My, they were so....not enjoying it. Frowning, Issy called out over the hubbub. "I know some of you won't want to make yourselves look silly," she got that from the swimming caps incident at the pond, "but really, why don't you just have a bit of fun? I promise I won't make you all change your hair colour to this red if you don't want. It can be any colour you wish." So long as they went poofy with the style.

OOC: I'll be moving on to the spells soon. Remember if you can't find a partner, you can do it on your own. ;P You grumpy pants are cute.

Nathan mouth dropped when he heard the professor say they were gonna dress up like clowns. Seriously? Whatever, I better find a partner. Nathan grabbed the supplies and then scanned the room and saw a Ravenclaw girl about his age who did not have a partner and waled up to her and asked, "Mind if I partner with you?".

Hyperventilate if she put the outfit on? Evelyn may do just that, but for an entirely different reason. "Well then...what if we just painted eachothers faces?" Hmmm?

"Not like a clown though. Just like, a butterfly near our eyes or something like that." That was clown-ish enough, wasn't it? Marilyn had a point about them both caring about their participation grades.

Hmm, well...anything was better than wearing that costume.

Although..."I'm just concerned that part of the participation will come from actually wearing them..." Ugh, Merlin help them if that were the case. No one needed to see her at such a low point dressed like a flipping clown. Like the blonde wasn't shamed enough right now.

...And she was positive that Evelyn would have rather been tortured to within an inch of her life than to put that offending garment on.

*blink* Butterflies? She nodded. That was a nice idea and all..."If we go that way, I'd like to get some honey bees...I could paint some rubber duckies..."

"Hi!" She greeted with a smile. "Want to be partners?" If she said yes, and she hoped that she would, Kourtney could get a costume and they could get started.

Olivia looked up at the girl who had approached her desk. "Hi," she replied, "Sure!" She smiled with relief. Oh, for MERLIN'S SAKE. This professor was a NIGHTMARE. Ryden would just grab someone, paint them something weird, they'd do her and after the lesson she'd go wash it all off and try to NEVER think about these hours ever again.

Thank Merlin Orlando wasn't here.

Okay... Partner. "YOU, freaky girl from last year - you're my partner, mmk?" she called out, standing up and walking over to her. Perfect partner. She could see that the girl wasn't happy, just like her, and this assignment would move much faster if she could bicker with someone.

Aw, excellent! She agreed. Smiling still, she nodded in response to the girl's question. "Yep! Be right back." She meandered her way through the crowd of students and peered into the open trunks. Hmm....she liked the color of that one.

Pulling it out, she walked back towards the girl and began to pull the baggy costume over her uniform. "I"m Kourtney." She introduced herself as she dressed.

Once she had finished, she sat at the desk next to her new partner. "Ready? What pattern do you want painted?"

Glancing up to the Professor, the scowl may have disappeared from her face, but Evelyn still wasn't all that excited or happy with this activity. This wasn't considered fun in this Slytherin's book. This was called public embarrassment.

They agreed on the face paint, but the outfit still... "Then I'm losing half of my participation points." she muttered as she stood up to get one of the face painting kits. NOT the outfit. Nooooooo, she didn't go anywhere near those, and if she did, she just STARED at them, daring them to touch her. Evil things.

Sitting back down in her seat, she stared at the face painting kit before...placing it on Marilyn's desk. Hmmm, her own desk was full of notebook, quill, and ink. No room. Hehe.

Alyssa looked at Jesifur as she applied paint to her face. She wished she hadn't told her that she was feeling sad because she didn't want Jesifur to pity her or feel bad herself. It wasn't Jesifur's fault that she was so slow in class or was too afraid to speak up. So she decided to do better. "Tell you what Jessifur. I've changed my mind. Paint my face a happy one. Maybe that will get me out of my doldrums." and she gave Jesifur a big smile.

"I'm not a freaky girl. I'm Louisa." She gave a smirk, "And I'm not your slave." She pronounced the last word very slowly, the way this Ryden addressed her was so... not equalish. So.

On the other hand, Louisa preferred to do a mess on her face! ^__^ That should be fun. She faked a sweet smile, "Let's go mess ourselves." Hmph. Louisa headed for the box to get a costume.

Writing all this up on the board, Issy wiped her hands on a cloth she had kept on the table. Chalk dust got everywhere. "Now, I don't know if any of you were aware that a carnival rolled into Diagon Alley over the summer..." she looked around them and smiled. They seemed like the sort that would have gone. "But that has influenced how I want you all to perform these spells."

The grin on her face twitched wider as she pointed her wand at her head. A quick tap and her once long brown hair shrunk and became frizzy, until it looked very much like an afro style. Another tap changed it to a bright red colour. Surely they could now see where she was going with this? "That's right. You're going to become clowns for this lesson." Evil? Probably to those who cared what they looked like. Fun? Heck yes.

"Before we get on with the spells though, I want you all to look the part. So please find a partner for this bit, because it's more fun that way, and come up and collect one of these sets of face paints." Isabelle reached inside one of the boxes on her desk and produced a pile of other boxes, each containing paints for them to use. She then walked over to the trunks and threw back the lids. "AND I have costumes for you to wear! Come and get one, get changed, then please do your partners make up. We'll move on when you've all completed that."

OOC: You don't NEED a partner for this bit, but it is fun to paint all over someone else's face ;) If you want to do it on your own that is fine. Just have your character come and get a costume, change, and then pick up a painting kit. Sit in your pairs (if you're in one) and have fun! We'll move on later. Chatting about the task only please!

Selina grimaced when her Professor informed the class that they would be altering their appearances to look like clowns. Of course that was not her problem, she didn't mind dressing up. The problem was that Professor Mangus kept going on about how they had to change their hair color to a ridiculous red color... Selina HAD red hair. She didn't think her hair was that amusing or funny. Honestly, she was a little offended.

But she did as she was told to get the supplies she stalked off to the table to collect her things. It was not like she needed to change her hair color... it was already ridiculous enough. When she got back she would change the style though with the spell on the board.

She sat down and looked around for a partner, "Anyone need a partner?"

Had this really been HER idea, to partner up with freak- er, Louisa? Merlin. Hogwarts was REALLY getting into her head. She needed a break. "Whatever, let's just get this over with, ok?" she mumbled, then followed the younger girl to the boxes.

"Okay, so let's get something out of the way. I promise not to make you look silly if you don't do it to me, ok? I'd rather NOT spend hours in front of the mirror after this so if you please no heavy things," Ryden stated, and grabbed a make up kit and a costume. The blonde scowled at the constume. BLEAAAAHHHH. She'd get dressed later after she saw that EVERYONE were doing it. Not before.

"Great to meet you, Olivia." The brown haired girl responded as she took inventory of the paints that they had at their disposal. She was sure that Matt would have a blast if he would be taking part in this class. He loved to draw and paint.

Excellent! Free reign! With a happy smile, Kourt popped the top to one of paint containers and removed a brush. "Oo, a surprise. Great idea."

She busied herself filling out Olivia's face in white, as most clown's faces were. Then she switched to color paints. Hmm...flowers might be nice.

Carefully, she started to paint the stem of the flower on Olivia's cheek. She was no expert by any means, but it looked pretty good. Tracing the petals now, she worked the brush in small circles and added a leaf or two.

With a giggle, she set the brush down. "I think I'm done; it's a pretty flower."

because Stella won't let me not post. xD Even though she's not yay about clowns.

Stella had been excited about Transfiguration class, just because it had always been one of her favorite classes. Unlike the others in the room, though, she didn't have any biases about the professor. Seeing as every one of them was new to her and she'd given the woman a smile as the lesson started. She could properly greet her later, it seemed, as class had gotten underway rather quickly and her time was needed for taking notes. The topic of metamorphmagi was always interesting to her, especially as she'd always wanted to know one. Something told her the professor wasn't one, though, even before the lesson had devolved into chaos.

Why couldn't this lesson have been like Charms?, she thought, noting down the two spells even as she'd wished they didn't have to act all silly. Risa would have died if she'd had to make herself look like a clown, and Stella was quickly realizing she needed to do some quick thinking if she was going to not make herself look like an idiot. Wondering if there was a way to transfigure the costumes, she'd wandered up to grab one as people started pairing off, along with a makeup kit. She wasn't against working with someone else, but maybe she could manage the changes in her head better by herself. Unless her partner was on board for not being traditional.

What on earth was she doing? Rory was not a baby. He was an eleven year old and ought to be treated like one! Rory had to get away from her before her pretty feminine smell was fully attached to him. He attempted to push her away but she simply did not let go. She was relentless!

"Girly, could you--you're squishing--" Oh, great. He was stuck for good and that pretty feminine smell was definitely apart of him. Next thing you know, he'd be walking down the hall smelling like honeysuckle perfume. "Mweettt gooooo--"

Rory was let go, but only for a second. All of a sudden, this girl was running her fingers through his hair, as if she had never seen hair before. "Heh. You like my hair, huh? Yeah, I use this--" Nope. No time to talk. She was ready to get started with the make-up. WAIT A SECOND.

"NO, NO, NO. I want to paint YOU. I don't want to get painted! No! Noooo!" Oh, great. This was not a part of the plan. Awesome Rory can't be the victim of someone's horrible make-up job. He wanted to paint someone else and...argh! With his teeth chattering and more sweat drops running down his forehead, he sat down in a chair, waiting for the worst moment of his life to occur.
