She blushed a bit when her comment to the first year about metamorphs was addressed as well. While the first year might not have picked up on anything she was saying, she was sure that now Professor Magnus knew what she was talking about. Perhaps the woman had even noticed her...slight bending of the spell? But her attention was not back on the Hufflepuff girl. "I'm in Gryffindor, but I do know a few of your housemates that I can introduce you to," she nodded. "My name is Kurumi by the way." And then an explosion happened. BOOOOOOOM! Kurumi hung her head. She HAD warned everyone that they shouldn't be changing their hair color yet. Oh well, at least Professor Magnus hadn't deducted points from it seeing as she thought she had spotted a few Gryffindors doing so. Any questions about the previous spell? Nooooooot really...at least not any that Kurumi wanted to ask out loud. She would have to go and speak with Professor Mangus after class. |
Catching up >.< Kennedy furiously wrote every piece of information on his parchment. He didn't want to be left behind in knowledge. Everything was going great, he was understanding what the professor was saying until the clown dress-up part. His jaw had dropped open followed by his eyes going wide as melons. After giving in to the idea of being a clown, Kennedy had dressed up and done his own art work on his face. He had an odd looking yellow star on his right eye and a big blob of blue on the other. His cheeks had huge red circles and a red nose to match. The only thing he really disliked of this was that his glasses were going to be stained with the paint on his face. Oh well, as long as it got him good marks. He nodded his head as thanks at the professor when he got the mirror. Kennedy didn't understand why he had to concentrate on clown hair. He's seen that several times, shouldn't his mind have that on check already? So, before tapping his head, Kennedy said, “Felintas.” He felt nothing, but after checking his hair on the mirror his eyes grew wide again. Seriously, if he kept doing that his eyeballs were definitely going to pop out. A MOHAWK!:x3: He didn't want a Mohawk. He wanted clown hair. Okay, now he understood why concentration was important. Great going Escalante, learn it the hard way. He resumed the process again, this time closing his eyes shut to try to concentrate to the max. “Felintas.” He slowly opened one eye to see his reflection on the mirror and grinned. He had puffy CLOWN hair. |
Presley carefully wrote down the spells, and what they were supposed to do, but didn't attempt either. The professor had just exploded. Freaked out on everyone. Besides, Presley's stupid, danged wand arm was broken. It was enough to make her want to swear. She was just so frustrated with it, it was ridiculous. |

Next spell! ;) Any questions I miss now will be answered tomorrow. Quote:
"It's slightly more complicated than changing your hair, I'm afraid," she said, standing next to the Slytherin who had spoken. "I don't want any of you to try and get it wrong, thus damaging your eyes. Healer Brookes might not be happy with me. Or your parents for that matter." Quote:
"They fade, certainly the colour changing one does. But you need to use the counter-spell to stop them completely - Intaris. It's the same for both, so hopefully you'll all remember it." Isabelle gave the girl a nod and smile. "And as this only changes hair...and sometimes eyes....it's not really enough for a criminal to become significantly different. Unfortunately, there are other spells they could use for that if they really wanted to." Not that she was going to say today. Just in case she had potential criminals in the room. Heh. Quote:
"Generally people use it to change the whole head of hair, it is easier that way. However, with everything Transfiguration related, concentration and intent is key. So if you wished to just change part of your hair, it would require more effort, but could be done, yes." Quote:
But now was the time to get on with this lesson. Unfolding her arms, Issy walked back to the front of class and changed the words on the board. Quote:
Holding her wand to the top of her head again, Issy tapped once and said the spell clearly so they could hear. "Ris-TAR-is!" Her hair changed from it's usual dark brown to a brightish blonde. Similar to the way she had changed it a couple of terms before for the Prefect's tea party. "You have to add extra emphasis on the middle portion of the word for it to work properly. Smiling, she re-holstered her wand and leant against her desk. "I don't expect you to all turn it red like I did before. I was having fun with that - clown hair can be any colour you like. Whatever you feel fits with your make up and costume. And you CAN do it in pairs if you so wish. Getting a colour wrong is nothing that can't be fixed, unlike length and style change, which is why I wanted you to do that to yourselves." Isabelle fiddled with her newly blonde hair, before flopping her hands into her lap. "Please begin, and if you need any help at all, just put your hand in the air and call me over." OOC: I'll be off to bed soon, so probably won't post again tonight. Isabelle is always there though - but PLEASE listen when a Prefect asks you to do something. :P Any questions, or help required, will be dealt with tomorrow. Have fun choosing your colours! |

Harvey was happy to see that Minnie was having fun. "Felintas!" Harvey said he felt his hair it was now curly "Intaris!" His hair was back to the normal upon feeling it. :claw: Quote:
Oooo changing his hair color. He looked at Minnie and knew instantly what color he wanted to change it to. "Ris-tar-is!" He looked in the mirror, nothing it was his same old hair. He wondered why it hadnt changed, then he remembered the professor said to have particular emphasis on the middle section of the incantation. So he tried again. "Ris-TAR-is!" He looked into the mirror and voila, he had purple hair, remembering that Minnie liked her purple hair. "Hey Minnie!" He called to Minerva "How do I look?" He asked pointing to his hair smiling. :claw: |

William remembered to say "Ristaris", tapped his wand twice on his head and his blonde hair is back but he concentrated to make sure his blonde hair is in a pony tail behind his back. |
Yeah, Ashley wasn't too sure he wanted to do this spell. The professor had said that the eye colour changing was harder, though, right? So it wasn't likely that anyone would be doing it, right? He looked around the room briefly, but he really wouldn't be able to tell, so he gave up on that train of thought. Stalling for time, he took down notes on the second spell and all that had been said about it, going back to just sitting quietly and watching his classmates, still reluctant to make an attempt at this. |

Amethyst smiled softly and wondered how the style would look purple and green. She giggled and held up her wand, concentrating on the colors. Tapping her head gently once, she said softly, "Ristaris!" She smiled, blushing deeply as she watched her hair turn into the matching colors. |
SPOILER!!: Professor "Oh my," Pixxi whispered and hastily moved her wand up to the top of her head and tapped it twice. "Intaris," she said while looking horrified at the Professor who had just yelled at her students. Fortunately, it wasn't only Pixxi who had managed to change her hair color aswell. Her hair turned back to the same, curly, bright red color it had previously been, and she shrugged half heartedly, thinking about the cool new pink hair she had just a minute ago. No matter how proud she were of actually managing to get the spell right on the first try, she sighed and put her wand up to the top of her head again. She had already managed to get the spell right the first time, so she knew that she would be able to do so again. This time, it wasn't that exciting to try out the spell. She imagined herself with a really short pixie hairstyle, squinting her eyes and said the incantation. Her hair immediately changed into a neat, short hairstyle that actually fitted her face structure very good. SPOILER!!: Professor Listening intently to Professor Magnus, determined not to make any blunders as she had done earlier, Pixxi stared as the Professor changed her color to a nice, blonde variant. When told to try it out herself, Pixxi did as she previously had done, closing her eyes and muttered the spell under her breath while picturing how the color of her hair should look like. She decided on a blue variant this time. She concentrated for a few minutes until she felt the fizzling sensation from the tip of her wand. She prepared herself, put the wandtip at the top of her short, red haired head and said the incantation loud and clear. "Ris-TA-ris," she cried out with feelings. On the very split second the incantation had been said, she pictured Professor Magnus's blonde hair. Pixxi knew that the spell hadn't worked exactly as she wanted, and true enough, when she looked in the mirror, her hair was more of a silver shade, not blue as she intended. Again, Pixxi raised her hand for the Professor to see, "I'm sorry I changed my hair color too soon Professor Magnus. I just love to change my hair," she said with enthusiasm and a sparkle in her eyes. "I managed to make it shorter and, well, silver." She stared at her reflection and had to admit that she looked a bit foolish with the face paint and the large clown costume. "I intended it to be blue, but I think I said the incantation wrong, and I also lost some concentration at the end there." |
catching up. catching up ! Quote:
So now, back to their task. After that changing of hair style and length which caused her long and wavy hair to turn into bushy and neck-short, time for the coloring session. Though before she had started the task, she grabbed her quill and scribbled the notes on the board on her notebook. She might need a list of those some other day. And then, Beatrice pulled her wand from her pocket and breathed first before muttering, "Ris-TAR-is." Tapping the tip of her wand once on the top of her head. What she did was a mistake. She didn't concentrate on what color she wanted her hair to be. That's why when she looked in the mirror her head looks like a rainbow puddle now. The ends were in either red and gold. Her bangs had a blending of green and silver. The right side was blue and bronze and the left side is black and yellow. "Okay. Not a rainbow. But Hogwarts itself." she said, half irritated-half amused at herself. She was enjoying how the colors blended and can't seem to think of any explanation why she had such. |

*catches up* Can't wait on pardner anymore... :( Tired of waiting for the mirror, Tori hurriedly moved on with the other two spells the professor had demonstrated. This WAS Transfiguration class, after all, not makeup class. "Felinitas!" Tori commanded loudly, tapping her wand to her head so that her normally long, straight red locks suddenly curled and shrank into her head. She felt around her new 'fro and grinned. Heh. This probably looked hilarious. What was the next spell, then? The color-changing one? "RISTARIS!" she repeated loudly, tapping her head one more time. Tori focused on giving herself a lovely purple 'do, and was eager to see if it had worked. "Lemme seee the mirrrrrrror," she |
Violet looked at her hair in the mirror--the shape was okay, but she needed to return the colour back to normal before trying to change it intentionally. She decided it was better to start all over again. Hoping with all her might that her hair really would return to normal, she closed her eyes and pictured herself as she looked in the mirror every morning--straight, chin-length, dark-brown hair and scowling, sleepy face and all--and tapped herself twice on the head with her wand while saying "In-tar-is" She kept her eyes closed for a few minutes more, then slowly opened one eye and peered in the mirror. Thank Merlin! Her hair was back the way it was! With a sigh of relief, she started over again; ;third time's the charm, after all--wasn't that what they said? At least now she had seen enough clown hair to have a better idea of what she was going for, and William's explanations had helped a lot, too. She closed her eyes again, concentrated on frizzy curls as hard as she could, tapped herself once on the head, and said very clearly, "Felintas!" Then she opened her eyes again. It had worked! Her hair was still the same dark brown colour, but now it was frizzed out all over her head like it had been before. |
hmm, maybe I'll just continue going with the makeup pic... Having gotten increasingly nervous as she'd watched the students around her changing their hair colors before they'd learned the spell Professor Magnus had said would do so, Stella had found herself playing with the ends of her newly shorter and straight hair as she'd waited for the next steps. She had her makeup done, the weird costume on, and just needed odd colored hair to finish things off, it seemed. At least, maybe that would help her feel even less like herself. Either way, and even before the professor had reprimanded the whole classroom, threatening points loss if they'd continued disobeying, she wasn't about to move ahead. Even though she had started thinking about what colors would go with her makeup and outfit. Working by herself seemed almost to be an advatage, though, as she didn't have to wait once they were given the go-ahead to try the next spell out. Noting the incantation down in her notes underneath the other spell, she repeated it in her head several times before adding the wand movement in. One tap to the head, Ristaris..., she continued repeating, before she felt confident enough to actually try the spell out. Tapping her head once with her wand again, she concentrated on the color she'd come up with before saying, "Ristaris!" Glancing in the mirror, she eyed the teal-blue he rhair had turned before shaking her head. That didn't quite look right. "Intaris!" Two taps and she was back to dark brown. What color?..., she kept thinking, before deciding on her second try. Okay. Here goes. Tapping her head again, she repeated, "Ristaris!" Glancing in the mirror again, she saw her hair had now turned a pale lavender, and she couldn't help but giggle. Worked as good as any, and if it hadn't still been her dark eyes looking out of the facepaint, she definitely wouldn't have thought it was her. |
Jesifur concentrated hard and thought bright baby blue. She tapped the top of her head and said, "ResTARis," making sure to emphasize the middle. Her hair changed to sky blue. Now short and spiky and sky blue she felt her look was complete. Looking in the mirror she nodded and smiled. |
Violet now set out to change the colour of her hair, now that it was back to its original colour. But what colour to change it to? She decided upon green, because that was a Slytherin colour. But a really revolting green was called for, if the rest of the clown get-up was anything to go by. She remembered an awful lime-green-and orange striped dress that she had seen on a Muggle woman at King's Cross when she was leaving for school, and pictured that lime-green as hard as she could in her mind, while she tapped the top of her head once with her wand and said, "Ris-TAR-is!" She looked in the mirror--her hair was all frizzy and bright green! She had done it, first try this time! And suddenly, again, she felt an uncontrollable urge to laugh and put both hands to her mouth to muffle the sound. Even when she looked away from the mirror, it was like she just couldn't keep a serious face anymore, knowing what she looked like. |
Salander! Plus catching up! Quote:
The boy motioned to the seat next to him. Lana smiled and said, "Thanks! She resisted to blush. I wonder why my brother said not to talk to the older years? They don't seem viscious like he said... She said down and changed her hair length. She shortened it and turned it a bit frizzy. She ran her fingers through her hair. Gross. "My name? Oh, it's Melania, but you can call me Lana," she smiled. "And you're Salander.. right?" She only knew because he was the Head Boy. And because Slytherin recently had a house meeting that he had spoke of. Mmm, all that food. She was already reminiscing. She quickly went back to the thought of the lesson. Oh, I can't wait do his clown makeup. Quote:

Major catching up..... Mina's face was no done and she really couldn't fight it now. She would have to don the costume, even though she really didn't want to. It was just a costume, but she didn't really want to look like a complete fool. Looking like a fool in front of her peers wasn't high on her list of things this year, but at least she wouldn't be the only one looking foolishly. Everyone else was going to have to wear similar costumes too. Sighing, she cleaned up the face paints that she used and set it aside. Clean as you go and that will leave you less of a mess later. Words to live by, at least she thought so. Grabbing the costume, she threw it on, taking care not to mess up her painted face. She did try her best to not like a fool and have at least a pretty simple face painting on her. Looking down at herself, she frowned. It just wasn't her colour at all, but it was part of the lesson and she shouldn't be questioning so much. Just do as you're asked and make it through the year, she had to keep telling herself. The costume hung on her body slightly and it was a bit too big for her, but she would just have to make it work out. Now it was time for the first spell. It shouldn't simple enough and she did feel she was comfortable with it. It wasn't like she wouldn't be able to change her hair back. It was only temporary, right? Quote:
Glancing down at her notes, she picked up her wand. It was time to get down to business. She had an idea what she wanted her hair to look like and she was about to give it a go, when she heard Professor Magnus raising her voice. Taken a little slightly, she blinked and glanced around. She hadn't been really paying attention to what everyone was doing around her and did shake her head when she saw some of the underclass-men attempting to move on without even being told what they needed to do. Seriously, was she like that when she was that young? Looking back down at her notes again, she refocused. She was behind and needed to get to changing her hair now. Setting up the mirror, she looked at herself and concentrated on something a bit shorter in length than her current hairstyle and in the fashion of a bob. That was a good start, she thought as she envisioned it in her head before reaching for her wand. Reciting the incantation silently in her head, she moved her wand toward her head. Just a simple tap was all that was needed. Having the final result clearing pictured in her head, she concentrated on it and tapped her head once. "Fel-in-tas". Slowly, her hair shortened from its long length and straightened up into what was move like a pixie cut. Shaking her head slightly to see how it felt, she moved her head around to get a better view in the mirror and smiled. It didn't look all that terrible, if she said so herself; but it wasn't right for what they needed. It was a cute look and maybe she would have to revisit it one day. Reaching for her wand again, she envisioned her hair as it was. Concentration on the length and texture of it, she mouthed the incantation for the counter-spell. Silently she continued to recite the words in her head until she clearly could see just how her hair once was. Looking right into the mirror again, she tapped her head twice and cast the counter-spell. "Int-ar-is". With a quick blink, her hair was back to its original length and had the same bounce and curly it had just moments ago. It felt like it did before, which was always a good sign. But now it was time to really do what she needed. It couldn't be too short or long and it had to look like something a clown might have. She wasn't about to go the route of the big and poofy. She liked curls but that was just too much for her! Thinking it through, she decided on something not all that extreme. Picturing it in her mind, she reached for her wand and tapped her head again. "Fel-in-tas". Shaking her head, she nodded in agreement. It was pretty much what she wanted. It was just short of a complete bob in style and she had small pigtails as well. Quote:
Quote:
Jotting down even more notes, she read then over and over. It was time to get to the fun part. A few different colours were already running through her head. Did she want to go with just one solid colour or should she venture out and do maybe two? It was really up to her, wasn't it? Thinking up possible ideas, she picked up her wand again. Maybe pink would be fun or a light blue. She was supposed to look like a clown and clowns had silly coloured hair. Twirling her wand slightly as she thought of which colour she would start with, she recited the incantations in her head over and over. Once she was pretty sure that she had it down, she tapped her head and cast the spell. "Ris-TAR-is". It wasn't really the pink she had wanted or even the light blue. It was more of a lilac colour? It didn't look all that bad though, she could live with it for now at least. |
Sarah tilted her head. Ah, the fun part. What hair color had she always wanted? Ah, yes. A nice, pretty, violent GREEN! She giggled, how fitting. Slytherin colors. "Ris-TAR-is!" she made sure to add the emphasis on TAR. Although, it sounded sort of funny. The green didn't really seem to go with much of what she was wearing, but she decided she liked it. Yes, it brought out the subtle green tints in her eyes. Not bad, not bad at all. She glanced around at everyone else. People watching. Lame, but informative. |

Harvey looked into his mirror. "Yeah I think you are right." Harvey closed his eyes concentrating "Ris-TAR-is!" He opened his eyes and looked at his hair it had now turned a nice shade of blue. He looked at Minnie "Hey you did it! Nice! Now you wont wonder about how to get purple hair, you now know the incantation. you wont have to wait until it accidentally happens." He said smiling. "I'm glad!! " Harvey exclaimed, he really WAS glad about this. Now she may be happier here knowing that she is ABLE to do magic. "So you wont doubt about coming here no more? As by the look of things you were MEANT to come here." Harvey asked BEFORE he could stop himself, he couldnt believe he had let this out, he really needed to start controlling himself BEFORE he hurt someone. Hmmm, what to go for? Better be...GREEN! Green and Silver of course, Eris thought happily taking a step back and tapping her hair, eyes shut in concentration imagining the swirl of colors. "Ristaris." she tapped her head happily. Glancing in the mirror she looked for the change...only to see a blend of silver and grey that made a color that didn't look to appealing. "Intaris" she sighed, tapping her head twice. The color changed back. Come on wand...let change my hair! "Ristaris!" Glancign in the mirror, it did change even if just slightly, from black to a raven purplish-black. Close enough. Let's face it, she wasn't meant to be a beauty stylist. http://i457.photobucket.com/albums/q...ourtjester.jpg |
Nate took a chance. He though of bright purple, tapped his head once with his spruce wand, and said "Ristaris!". He looked in the mirror, and saw himself: short hair, brushed across his forehead to the right, except instead of its usual brown, it was a majestic purple. He considered leaving it that way. |
SPOILER!!: Herminny SPOILER!!: The professor! |
hey guys, when you use pictures please use the spoiler tag Kurumi sunk into her seat a little further as they moved onto hair coloring. Simple enough, right? Just a simple tap on the head and say the incantation and tada! Right? Wrong. Kurumi picked up her wand again and held the mirror in her other. She didn't really care what color her hair went, as long as it did so on command. Looking at her reflection, she thought something that would stand out from her overly pink costume and make up would seem the most appropriate for the situation. She remembered a table cloth that her grandmother had in her home. It was a table cloth that the family dog and peed on from time to time - a habit that Walnut had picked up it seemed - but her mother always managed to make it clean and smell fresh as a daisy. For some reason, the soft sea green color latched itself to Kurumi's memory, so she opted to go with that for now. Closing her eyes, Kurumi whispered the incantation to herself a few times - making sure to place emphasis on the middle part as instructed. She tapped her head a few times, mostly to create a rhythm. "Ristaris," she whispered. When she opened her eyes. Nothing had happened. Perhaps she had said the incantation more RIStaris or ristarIS instead of risTARis? She ought to try again...and again...and again. Maybe sea green wasn't a good color? She should think of something else. Kurumi searched her memory for something, anything else that might pop into her head when her mother working in the kitchen came to mind. She always wore a canary yellow apron while she cut vegetables and prepared her delicious cherry blossom tea. That color resonated more strongly with the fourth year, and she smiled as she tapped her head once again. This time for sure! "Ristaris!" ... Nothing. Kurumi's face had panic written all over it. Why couldn't she perform the spells that always seemed to come so smoothly to her? |

Oh wait, what was this? "You're afraid of clowns?" Charner gave it a momentary thought, drumming her fingers on her covered backpack. "I suppose it makes sense. Childhood terrors or some such. Well, we can paint you like a clown that's not like a clown." There was extreme logic there. Her hand waved about her own face. "I was working on painting my face completely black and then I was gonna put stars on it. So, it's clown-ish but not really clown-ie." Nod nod. "I could...paint your face a field or some such. And you could be clown-ish but not clown-ie." Her hands reached for the paints and then nearly knocked all of it off the table at the Professor's sudden outburst. O.O! Goodness she had a voice! Sheephishly, Charner glanced back at her partner. "Perhaps we should do the spells and then paint. Or one paints and one does the spells?"[/b] They needed to be efficient in order to not get eaten O.O. |

Work in pairs?! Errr, ...how about no? Sierra was already mentally complaining about the fact that she was dressed like a clown. Working with someone, and having them look] at her and help cast spells to change this idiotic hairdo, would only make things worse. More annoying, too. Her wand was already in her hand, and so she just lifted it up, tapped it once on top of her head, and said, "Ris-TAR-is!" She pictured a nice, Slytherin GREEN color. If she was going to sport this idiotic hairdo, it was at least going to be a sensible color. GREEN should do the trick, she thought. Yup. She picked up the mirror and checked out her new hairdo. Ehh. It looked slightly better in a beautiful shade of GREEN, but she still thought it was a ridiculous hairdo for someone to even want to have. With a tap, tap on top of her head and an "Intaris!", she changed her hair color back to the normal shade of brown it'd always been. |

An idea that surely her professors AND perhaps, even her enemies, would appreciate. "Fel-in-tas" Valeria said unsurely but clearly. She watched as a light shot out of her wand and hit her hair. She fingered her hair and felt that it has now become straight instead of her usual wavy hair. She now also has a fringe which laid just above her eyes, and some hair on the sides of her face reached up to her chin, while the rest had turned very short. Liking the style, Valeria decided to keep it. Then she also tried the new spell the proffesor thought them. Grabbing her wand again, Valeria said "Ristaris" and found that her hair had turned reddish purple! Vaeria gaped as she stared at her new hair colour. What would her mother say if she see this?? |

Personally I'm a fan of your natural, but red is just a dashing color in general." Then she herself, lifted her wand to her head and said, "Ristaris." Kennedy Escalante, are you trying to kill me?! He could hear her voice in his head...and he missed it. Even if it was mad. Shaking out of his thoughts, Kennedy prepared himself for the next spell. HIS HAIR WAS PURPLE! How was that even possible. Well, purple was close to blue, but why didn't his hair turn into the desired color? It was probably because of the lack of concentration. He huffed in frustration and rolled his eyes. Why couldn't his brain concentrate? Taking a deep breath, Kennedy re did the spell. "Ristaris." Now, a firm voice could be heard. He quickly looked into the mirror and sighed. It was blue. His hair was blue and not purple anymore. Bahahaha! |

"Yeah she is a great girl. I am a good friend to girls, but it took me a while to tell Minnie about my feelings, actually SHE HAD to tickle the answer out of me. If she hadnt it would be a different story right now, let me tell you that. So I am thankful she tickled me that day." He said smiling at Minnie. Harvey was keeping his promise of not getting jealous of her talking to other guys, and he felt happy that he was not feeling jealous. :claw: |

"No you are absolutely right. Ris-TAR-is!" His hair turned a very bright red. He looked in the mirror, nope not his color. "Ris-TAR-is!" Yellow is too mellow, nope "Ris-TAR-is!" Blue is a nice color he thought looking into the mirror :claw: |

"Okay, now I'm going to try the changing the color of my hair. Let's hope this works. Here's crossing fingers," Alyssa said. Concentrating really hard on the color she was hoping to get, Alyssa tapped the top of her head and said "Ris-Tar-is". She quickly checked the mirror. Yes! it was exactly the color she wanted purplish pink. Quote:

Ouch. The sound of the professor yelling was not a pleasant thing to hear. Even though she did nothing wrong, she could feel herself blushing as though she hadn't followed directions. For a few moments, no one said anything, but then the class began to practice once more. It wasn't long afterwards when the professor called the class to attention again to explain that they were moving on to changing the hair color. Kourtney's hair was quite short now, and sort of spiky...kind of punk-rockish. So...which hair color should she try...? For a while, she simply practiced the incantation without the wand movement. Ristaris...Ris-tar-is. She tapped her wand on top of her head once she felt ready and intoned "Ris-TAR-is" all while picturing fire-red hair. She felt a tingle and peered into the mirror, only to be disappointed. Hm, not quite the color that she imagined. It was more maroon than anything. She wrinkled her nose at her reflection and tried again, concentrating really, really hard this time. "Ris-tar-is!" Fire engine red...fire engine red....fire engine red. Now with delight did she look back at her reflection. Awesome! And hey, it looked pretty good with her green eyes. Maybe she had found a new hair-style. She couldn't wait to show Indy and Brady. |
Catching up SPOILER!!: Felintas Eyes closed, the second year Snake imagines what she looks like with a shorter hair. Hideous, she thought. She taps her head with her wand once. "Felintas," muttered Aiden clearly. The long dark hair shortens till her shoulder. SPOILER!!: Ristaris As she looks at herself in the mirror, she realises she looks more like a mime in Diagon Alley the other day instead of a clown. Ahh~ This is good enough for her! |

India tapped her hair once with her wand and quickly spoke the word Felintas as she spoke the words she noticed ehr hair changing - she put her hand up to her hair and nearly squeaked as she realized it was no longer her soft long flowy wonderfulness but a big mess of curls. Looking in the mirror as she only had the costume on - the hair colored, and the hair now frizzed-out-and curled that she looked like Annie. Any minute now she could start belting out Hard Knock Life and it would just go with the ebb and flow of the day. That of course just made her laoguh - so, quickly she painted her face white...she looked like a red-haired giesha who forgot to put her entire face on despite the costume, and the hair that is. Quickly she applied the red on her lips, her cheeks, and made up her eyes....and painted on the black line of her eyebrows. Oh Merlins shriveling shorts she looked creepy. Like a clown but big-dimple-cheeked clown. Like any minute from now she was about to jump out from behind a corner and say having a good time? In a sinister way....a way that would send chills down Lafay's back. |

Nora was very tempted to turn it back to normal just that moment, to be sure that she'll have her hair back, but she didn't want to lose points or something. Slytherin had lost enough, right? Time to earn points. "Ristaris," she said with a tap on her head, and then looked in the mirror to see her red hair. Not carrot red, but she'd always wanted to see herself with dark red hair. Hehe. |
Corey put his hand up... his hair remained unchanged for right then. "Professor... could I practice on a dummy or somethin'? A dummy with a wig?" He wasn't really used to his err.... new wand yet after all. And he didn't much want to accidentally make his own head implode. |
With their faces painted (and the costume crisis seemingly averted), Marilyn was ready to attempt these spells. Looking at Evelyn, she smirked. They looked like fabulous superstars! Well, time for spell work... She'd watched the Professor's example and tapped herself on the crown to change length, clearly saying Fe-lin-tas...but nothing happened. And nothing continued happening for next several attempts. O.o Not to sound conceited, Marilyn had never had much difficulty casting. She knew she was adept to most magic and easy picked things up...So, why wasn't she getting this...The Professor had tapped...Marilyn had tapped...What was difference? Getting irritated, she centered. Closing her eyes briefly and taking a deep breath, she focused. Short hair...a bob...picturing it... "Fe - lin - tas..." Enunciating each symbol, she tapped the top of her head, this time feeling a change. Grabbing the mirror again, she looked at the now shorter hair. "What do you think?" Now, for a different color... Well, what color should we shoot for? Green....? Nah, too obvious. Red?...too Gryffindor... Same motion, emphasis on TAR...Okay, Marilyn was ready to try. Not wanting to demonstrate failure, though, she tried her hardest to get it right on the first go around. Visualize...visualize... "RisTARis..." Tap... She'd been going for pink...but when she looked in the mirror...Well, it wasn't fully pink... Meh..."What do you think, Evelyn?" |
Now, they practiced the Ristaris spell. "Ris-TAR-s!" her hair become red now. She didn't like it. "Ris-TAR-is!" now her hair become blue. "I think my white hair better. Intaris!" |
Lilly tapped her hair. She had rainbow in mind. "Ristaris" she said firmly. Cool, she had rainbow hair! It was much more intresting than boring blonde! |
Kurumi's short pixie hair was beginning to frizz a bit due to the stress she was feeling about not being able to perform the spell properly. What was going on? She had never struggled this much before and would have GLADLY accepted her hair melting to her head just to prove that she was at least performing some magic. Her attention, however, was disrupted further when she heard some of the first years she had met recently talking among each other. She smiled, until conversation began to turn far away from the task at hand. "Pssssst," she whispered, leaning over a bit. "Harvey, Minerva, Justin, I know you guys are excited about being able to perform spells and all," her voiced faded for just a moment. First years were performing the spell and she couldn't. At least no one suspected that she was incapable, right? For the first time ever she was actually glad to be a Metamorph. "...but...can you guys try to save the conversations about houses and whatnot until after class. Some people might not be able to concentrate on the spells." Like herself, but that wasn't entirely their fault. Kurumi leaned back in her seat again and set her wand on the table, arms folded across her chest. This reminded her of a film she had watched as a child, one about a young witch who suddenly couldn't perform magic - like flying on a broom - because she was losing herself and her confidence. Was that what was happening now? Or had something been in her pumpkin juice? After taking a few moments, she picked up her wand again and looked at her reflection. She hated doing it...but she didn't want to appear incapable and, well, she wasn't hurting anyone in using her abilities, right? Kurumi closed her eyes again and focused on a color - the color of her eyes. But what feeling could she envoke that would make her hair turn the same color. Her thoughts, for some reason, focused on her own house and the lion that was on its crest. Kings of the jungle, Gryffindors had a sense of regality to their name. She thought about some of the nicknames given to her recently, Cookie Princess, Pretty Prefect Princess, Ambassador of Cuteness - Merlin, how did her father get in her head?! - and she began to feel something. Her eyes shot open and she immediately tapped her head. "Ristaris!" Nervously, Kurumi peeked into the mirror and saw that her hair was now a violet color, but no thanks to the spell. |

Jonathan sighed. His hair right now is blonde and semi-curly. All he has to do is somehow make it straight right? He took out his wand and concentrated. He didn't need to make his hair shorter, it is already short. He also didn't like to make it long. He'll look like a girl. Okay. Concentrate. Straight. Straight. Straight. He tapped his head with his wand "Felintas!" he uttered out. Did he do it correctly? He looked at himself on the mirror and his semi-curly hair is now straight. Awesome!!! Quote:
The spell that changes the color of the hair. Jonathan smiled. FINALLY!!! He gets to change his hair color back to normal. Being blonde for the first part of the term didn't make him comfortable even though people said it was okay. No. Blasted hair color. He got his wand again. The professor already told them TAP ONCE ON THE HEAD. With the same wand movement he said "Ristaris" he looked at his reflection in the mirror hoping it worked....................... IT DIDN'T!!! Okay. Don't panic. Just do the spell again and this time full concentration. "Ristaris" he called out as he tapped his head with his wand. NOTHING!!!! What was going on? Is there something he missed? Jonathan frowned. Everyone seemed to be having a problem with the hair color too. Maybe he just needs to concentrate a but more. Wait. Jonathan stood, he recalled the professor telling them to emphasize TAR for the spell to work. Is that why it's not working other than maybe the fact that his concentration on the color is not as much? Well..... Worth a try. Jonathan breathe. AGAIN. He taped his head with his wand again. CONCENTRATE. "RisTARris!" he said as he closed his eyes. Did it work? He looked at his reflection for the third time. He opened his eyes and smiled. He has a new hair color... It worked. He should have concentrated more and have put much emphasis on the spell. |
Willow looked into the mirror and concentrated hard on what she wanted to see. She imagined her long, white-blonde hair turning into a colour her mother wouldn't let her in the house in! Trying to hold in giggles, she regained her concentration and said "Ris-TAR-ris!" Opening her eyes, she looked into the mirror again and saw two bright blue eyes looking through a BRIGHT PINK FRINGE!!! She'd done it! Feeling accomplished, she looked around at all her classmates changing their haircolour too! This was beginning to be her favourite class! |

Red! That would be good. Show her Gryffindor pride and all! She grabbed her wand again she tapped her head and cried "Ristaris!" Her mouth fell open at the result. Her hair had gone pink. Well that wasn't what she'd been going for! Mabye she should put more emphasis on the tar bit? |
Ashley sat quietly and watched the others, still very unsure about what to do. How many points would he lose if he really didn't do anything at all? But then, how many would he lose if the professor thought he was doing the spell wrong and not following directions? It sort of dawned on him that either way, he wasn't following directions. Even so, the whole thing made him nervous. There had already been yelling, and he didn't want to be involved in any more of it. Perhaps he could just wait for his hair to change on its own and pretend he'd done it with the spell. Sadly, he knew already that at the moment, his eyes were no longer hazel, hovering somewhere in the blue-grey zone instead. So, he was already in trouble, if something like that became noticed. But he started to wonder just how it would be noticed. Did the professor check everyone's normal colouring before they'd started? Probably not. For all she'd know, that was the colour they had always been. With a sigh, he took up his wand again and aimed to tap his head, looking in the mirror. But he was still too nervous to try, and put both items back down without doing anything. |

"Well nothing is stopping you from doing so." Looking down to the outfit on the floor, Evelyn scrunched up her nose and leaned over to pick it up before placing it on her desk. It was touching her things, but she'd rather that happen than the professor take points for 'letting germs make cities on the outfit' because it was on the floor. Professors seemed to be doing stuff like that lately. Was she being overdramatic? Probably. Quote:

Only this time it was two taps instead of one, and she'd soooooo rather try and change eye color instead of hair color. That would have been soooo much cooler. Yet, Professor's orders called for hair color! Eh. That sandwich kid, Corey, had the brilliant idea though. Then again...could they also practice on other people? She didn't mind trying to change the length of her hair, but changing the color? Nevertheless, she eyed the clown outfit on her desk before raising her wand and tapping it twice on her head. "Ristaris." WORK. Darn spell. Woooork...she did NOT want reddish brown hair! This was nowhere NEAR blond! Scowling, the Slytherin girl looked over to Marilyn once her name was said, and her eyebrows shot straight up on her forehead. What... "I think...you look like a clown." Huuuuh.... "Perfect for this class though. Completely." |
They were moving on. Eino quickly scribbled down the incantations for the next two spells before attempting to cast them. He brought his wand up to his head, then tapped it with more force than it was probably necessary and said the incantation. "Ristaris." Almost immediately he saw his slightly longer hair change to dark, dark, black. It was so black it resembled a raven, and it was shiny too, shiny black. It was definitely an unusual look for him and made his black eyes look extra creepy. Still, he could rock it. Maybe. It was very unclown like, so he repeated the spell and this time his hair changed to a pretty shade of green, grass green. "Professor," He began after he raised his hand, "would these work any type of hair, including fur?" He wanted to know if he could use these spells to change the length and the color of Ino's fur. Her fur was very, very, very short, giving the impression that she didn't have any fur at all, but maybe he could make her into a fluffy kitty. Although, he didn't really want to, he was just curious. |
Jackie cringed inward. Changing her hair colour wasn't on the list of her priorities right now. But that was what was required right. She glanced at her chestnut mane of hair. What was the spell? Ristaris, yea? She took her wand and tapped her hair, thinking of ginger. 'Ristaris', she said faintly. Nothing happened. Maybe she wasn't concentrating enough. 'Ris-TAR-is.' She tapped her hair again. It turned ash blonde. Ew! What was this? 'Ris-TAR-is.' Ah, finally, it turned ginger. She almost skipped in joy. But she didn't like her look. Her chestnut looked better. She waited for the Profesor to glance this way, so she could change it back to chestnut again. |
:claw: "Intaris!" Harvey tapped his head, he looked in the mirror it was back to normal look. "Ris-TAR-is!" He concentrated hard on the color yellow as he thought it would be fun. He opened his eyes and looked in the mirror, he had bright yellow hair which he did not like. "Intaris!" He changed back to his normal look. :claw: |
"Ris-TAR-is Ris-TAR-is" Rosalie said in her head a couple times then tapped her head with her wand, "Ris-TAR-is". "Pink?" Rosalie's hair had turned from her normal shade of blonde to light hot pink color. |
Having changed her hair colour back Emily started at herself in the mirror concentrating hard. She wanted red hair. Not pink, not green. Red. She tapped herself on the head and made sure to really say the tar. "RisTARis!" She looked at herself and smiled. Her hair had gone the exact shade of red she wanted, matching the lipstick Daichi had put on her for her face paint. Then a thought popped into her head. If she was a sad clown she should have blue hair? Grr. She'd try it again then! |

Grabbing her wand she muttered, "Intaris." Tap and her fizzy black hair turned to greenindeed. Without a mirror, Louisa hadn't known that yet. In her head she saw a perfect purplehair. With a smirk the girl took the mirror from underneath her, surprisingly the reflecting surface was not broken, and looked at it. "NOO! It's supposed to be purple!" She squeaked. |

SPOILER!!: The talkers Issy frowned again. A sigh escaped her lips as well, as she walked over to the little group talking. "Can we have less chat and more practice please? Thank you." Quote:
Quote:
"How are you getting on, Kurumi?" she asked, sidling up to her just after she'd changed her hair colour. "Did the first spell go okay?" Quote:
Issy walked over to his desk and bent down next to his chair. "Are you alright? Anything I can help you with? I really would like you to participate." And if she could do anything to make that happen, she would. Quote:
"I'm not sure the colour changing one would work on shorter, courser fur, only that which is more soft and hair like. Plus the lengthening spell might not be comfortable for the animals, what with the fact it can tighten the scalp. So I don't advise using that one in case you accidently cause unnecessary suffering." And she was fairly certain that none of them would want that. "Alright guys, carry on as you are. Try different styles and colours. If you want help just let me know." |
Now, Raven's hair was back to normal. White. But she tried to change it again as instruction of Professor Magnus "Ris-TAR-is" it became black. Another try, "Ris-TAR-is" then it became shocking PINK. "Bloody hell! I've never like this sissy colors! "Ris-TAR-is" it became red. Not bad. She looked herself in mirror "I don't know why but I still love my white hair." |
" Thank you very much , Professor. " Said Justin. He began practicing the spell while concentrating on the colour and style he would like to see. " Ristaris!" " Felintas! " next thing Justin saw in his mirror was himself with jet black hair with one platinum streak down the right side of his head. And the same style he had told Minnie to give to Harvey. He loved it. And he thought he looked way better than Harvey had. " Hey, Harvey, Minnie! Check it out ! What do you think? " |

SPOILER!!: Professor Pixxi absolutely beamed towards the Professor, "Thanks, Professor Magnus," she said. "I think I'll keep practicing my blue hair a bit more." Pixxi had to admit that Professor Magnus was the nicest Professor she had, and Transfigurations was slowly starting to become her favorite subject. She tapped her head twice and said the counter incantation. If she were to do this, she wanted it done properly, from the beginning. How else would she learn? Her hair was still in the transformed pixie-style, but her red, normal color had returned. She concentrated harder then ever on the shade of blue she wanted. Professor Magnus had also told her to put emphasis on the 'TAR' part of the incantation, so she mumbled the incantation under her breath while holding her eyes firmly closed and thinking about her hair and how she wanted it to be. After a minute or so, she decided that it wasn't possible to be more concentrated than she was now, especially with all the students around her talking amongst them and shouting spells. She put the wand to the top of her head and pictured the blue, pixie hair she wanted. "ris-TAR-is" she cried out. She hurriedly looked at her reflection and scrunched up her nose. It certainly wasn't what she had expected. The color was more of a black-with-blue-stripes. She sighed, tapped her wand twice at the top of her head and muttered the counter incantations once more. She tried yet again to really concentrate on the exact shade of blue she wanted. Why was this so difficult? If it was one thing Pixxi didn't like, it was not to be able to do things. She was an impatient soul, and she felt some anger build up in her. 'Shake it off,' she thought to herself, took a deep breath and tried to concentrate once more. Still with her eyes closed, the exact shade of blue she wanted printed on her mind, she raised her wand to the top of her head and tapped it once, "ris-TAR-is" she said with feeling. Something felt different this time. She smiled hopefully and felt the anger disappear from her stomach when she looked at her reflection and saw the perfect shade of blue covering every inch of her short hair. "Professor Magnus! I did it! I actually made my hair blue," she grinned widely, waving her hand enthustiasticly towards the Professor to see. |
As for something different... What else should she get? Shorter length... Maybe a pale colour would look good on her. Suits her pale skin. She imagines herself in shorter hair. Preferably slightly above her shoulder and covers partially her face. "Felintas," said Aiden as she taps her wand once on her head, shortening her hair once again. For the colour, definitely something pale. Clownish looking? Blue? Green? Purple? Purple... The newly hairstyled Aiden focus on what she looks like with short, pale purple hair. Once again, she taps her wand on her head and cites the incantation. "Ristaris." Her dark hair slowly changes colour before it becomes paler and paler. She approaches the mirror wondering how she looks like. The twelve year old girl nearly fainted of embarassment seeing how weird she looks. |

It was different. "I was going for fully pink...I guess this works, too, though..." She attempted to change it back to blonde...but was finding it hard to focus with the amount of funny hair going on around the room... O.o... |

"That is such a clever idea!!! I feel like there aren't enough books in the world to make this fit me though!" Faven exclaimed, looking down at her outfit. "Yes, yes, quite afraid! That would be wonderous! If I didn't look like a "clown" and you didn't either, that would ease my nerves! Shall we move on to the spells? We truly need to catch up to the rest of class! I don't want to anger the Professor again!" she said, nervously. |
Quote:
"Well could you possibly recommend a more.... permanent color-changing spell, Professor?" she persisted brightly. "Like say, one that could change the color of automobiles and paint and fabric?" HEEEEEEEEHEHHEHEE. |
Quote:
Slowly she tapped her head with her wand. "Felintas!" Her hair went from it's usual long wavey hair to shoot back up into her head so it was straight in a sort of pixie cut. Smiling she ran her hair through it, impressed that it had worked! Now for the colour! Again, she though of what she wanted and tapped her head. "Ristaris!" She looked at her new blue hair in the mirror and grinned. She was a clown now! She put on a frown as she remembered she was supposed to be a sad clown and turned to face the professor. This was such a good lesson! |
Okay, come on Aurora, let's at least try one last time. Ach, she was as bad at Transfiguration as she was at Charms. Okay, "Felintas." She tapped the top of her head with her wand... Her red curls began to tighten, receding ever so slightly, until they were little pencil curls bursting from her head. Any other time it would have made her laugh but she was still trying to hold back her tears. She'd used the face paints to draw a frown and a single black tear on her face. Sad clown. So what? Okay... colour..? It was naturally bright red... Did she have to change it..? She thought about it for a bit... trying to think of the best colour. |

Text Cut: Notes Penny looked at Launna and said "ok, how would you your hair ma'am", finishing with a giggle.... Tapping the top of her head once... and the difference was very cool.... Long curly hair..."Hey girl, you look good".. I think pink would be an excellent colour for you... Concentrating with all her might on the colour, Penny tapped the top of Launna's head once and immediately the long curly hair turned a vivid shade of Bubblegum pink.... |

Hmmm. "Ristaris," Nora muttered with another gentle tap on her head. Since she liked her medium length, slightly curly hair, she only concentrated on changing its colour to pink. BRIGHT pink. She held up the mirror to peek at her new hair, and she couldn't help but giggle. Could they leave it like that after the class? |
Right. Colour. Come on. You can do this. "Ristaris." She tapped herself on the head with her wand... It was meant to be black... but sure, that was fine. The bright red had darkened to black at the roots and slowly lightened to it's natural red at the tips. Her spell had obviously not been strong enough... Stupid spells. |
Ame kinda felt a little lonely but figured it wasn't something to fuss about. She held up the mirror and smiled slightly. One tap of the head. "Felintas!" Her hair shifted into two pigtails. She blushed hoping no on saw her. Hmm..how about red? She had always wondered how she'd look with red hair. Another tap of the head. "Ristaris!" And there is was. Red hair. |
Desiree looked at her reflection in the mirror trying to decide what hair color she wanted. She pictured a dark bue and began doing the slightly different spell "Ristaris" she said with a tap. Looking in the mirror her hair was ORANGE. Eek. Her least favorite color. Trying again she tapped her head "Ristaris!" and it had changed to a nice blue. Content with her work she sat back and looked at all the other people changing their hair and painting their faces, a slight smile forming on her face as she waited for the next instructions. |

Gideon smiled in amusement as Selina curtsied to him in response to his choice of title, chuckling as she returned it with her own long title she had come up with for him. There were certainly a lot of G's but then it was a good thing she didn't know his middle name yet. Then she would learn that his parents had done that on some sort of purpose. The fourth year watched as Selina went to work on her own hair, the curly strands seeming to almost drain of color until the formerly red hair was now blonde. "Well...no, just...different," he answered as truthfully as he could. Gideon had to admit that the color just didn't seem all too right on Selina but it wasn't terrible. Guess in the long run they both prefered each others original color and style. Hearing Professor Magnus telling them to practice some more, Gideon tried to think of more ideas for them to try out. "What do ye think we should try next?" |

With her mouth hanging open Nessie watched the Professor shout at all the people that had gone ahead and started changing hair colours. She stared shocked that somone could scream so loud and she was just grateful that she had been clever not to go against the Professor. ---- Listening to the Professor's instructions Nessie took her wand and got ready to change her hair colour. She wanted to get purple hair, but she wasn't too sure about the shade she wanted to go for. She didn't want to go for something too dark, but she didn't want to end up having white hair either, She took her wand and pointed it to her head. ""ristaris" she said, but when she looked in the mirror, nothing had changed. She propably didn't ephasise the 'tar' part enough. "ris-TAR-is" she said louder tapping her wand on her head. She looked in the mirror and almost shrieked when she saw herself. She looked like a granny, her hair was too white even if it did have some purple it looked way to white. Quickly she took her wand and pointed it at her head again."Intartis" her hair had gone back to its normal self even her style had gone back to normal. She decided to worry about the colour first, and decided she would redo the style later. "Ris-TAR-is" she said as she thought of a better purple shade. It was a much better colour, it wasn't too dark and it didn'y look like white. It was exactly the way she wanted it. Now it was rime to redo her style. "Felintas" she said trying to imagine the previous hair style she had, had before. She could feel her hair changing. She looked into the mirror smiling. Her hair style was a little different but she liked this one better. She folded her arms waiting for the professor's next instruction. |
