SPOILER!!: All you correct people. YAY! The wiper flew across the board and removed her name. Now the chalk was scribbling a different word - 'Metamorphmagus'. They were all so good. "You are all, of course correct," Issy beamed, clapping her hands together. "A Metamorphmagus...or 'magi' for the plural," she nodded in the direction of the students who had said that one, too. "Now it's a very rare gift, few people have the ability. And, as I'm sure you know, alot of it depends on emotion." She moved from the front of her desk and began walking up and down the aisles. Issy found it better to move as she talked. "So unfortunately for you all, it's not something I can teach you. HOWEVER there are spells that you can use to change your appearance - and in this lesson you will be doing two of them." Stopping by the board, Issy cleaned it herself and used the chalk to write by hand. Two spells, which were... Quote:

Text Cut: Ellie ... Had Ryden met the Quidditch captain before? For other than that, the blonde could think of no other reason for the girl to smile at her. Hmm. Odd. Text Cut: first question Well, as everyone else had said already... "Metamorphmagi, Professor," Ryden answered, raising her hand. They were AWESOME. One of the honestly coolest things about transfiguration, other than animagi. Animagi were cool too. HUMAN transfiguration was cool. The other things were just boring. Text Cut: second question Ryden... had no idea. How was she supposed to know?! Psht. It wasn't like the spell was called 'I-transfigure-some-body-part-into-something-else'. That would be much simpler to work out. Shrugging, she leaned back in her chair and awaited the bookworms to spew out answers. |
They were changing their appearance? Awesome! Hugo was never really fond of his nose. Maybe he could change that? They were the same... But different. "Perhaps one changes the part temporarily and the other changes it permanently?" Hugo asked hesitantly. |

Indiana was really looking forward to this lesson. She'd read the text book, and it seemed really interesting...and people that could change their appearance at will. Well they were very lucky. Ind would've loved to change her hair. That would've so much fun. Indiana wrote a few things down on her parchment, before looking up, and listening to the professor. She had no idea what those spells meant, but she figured that they must change part of her apperance. Indy decided that she may as well guess, that was the teacher was asking for right? Indy thought, before she raised her hand. "Maybe....they change your hair? Like does one change the length and the other the color?" |
Already beginning the ritual of tapping her quill on her desk and twirling it every so often, she happily listened to the professor, pleased that she could both understand what she was saying and that there was no chainsaw in sight. This was a happy class. Until those two spells went up onto the board. Evelyn had no idea what they were, nor could she split the words up and figure it out. Everyone was saying things about hair but, was that even right?! How would they know? Hesitantly raising her hand as she stared at the two spells, she shook her head slightly with a mighty confused look on her face. "Does one...change your eye color and the change it back again?" Shrug. |
August grinned as the Professor welcomed them all to class, it seemed as if she was going to be a great teacher. He had waited for class to start and when it finally did, she asked them all the first question...one about spells. "Umm can it possibly be about changing someone's body part into the form of a cat's? Because of the 'felin(e)'..." The Gryffindor hoped it was at least close. |
Thea blinked. Whaaa? Was it time for guessing already? Oh dear. 'Can one of them change.. the colour of something? Such as your hair or eyes?' Could be handy for disguises. 'Can another change things completely? such as your hair style?' These guesses were getting worse. Thea stopped talking and just sat there looking completely puzzled. |
The boy halted for a moment when Professor Magnus mentioned his wand. Yeaaaa. Ummm... Of course quickly he had checked the holster and...phew!...the hazel wood was safely there. Good good good. So nodding at the professor again, he directly made his way towards where Evelyn pointed him, the moment he caught the eye contact with her. During the first question, of which answer was this Metamorphmagi thing, was asked, the lion boy was too busy with making himself comfortable on the seat and making sure his girlfriend looked to be happy with it as well. Changing appearances...huh? He doubted he wanted that but it could have been useful at certain times of course. No problem if he was not a metamorph...thing anyway. What was the Polyjuice Potion for? And to be honest he had never heard of the spells on the board and he had no idea what they did but...what were guessing games for then? :D ''What about...nose, professor?'' Because that was going to be the only thing he was going to change on him. Not that he was unhappy with it, he just did not want to do further changes than that. |
Jesifur thought about it for a moment. Felintas, hmm, sounds like feline, Ristaris, sounds like something you might say to restore whatever might have been changed. Jesifur raised her hand. "Could Felintas possibly give you a cat like appearance? Ristaris sounds like how you would restore what ever you may have done." |

As for the spells... She raised her hand. "The first spell makes me think of felines," she spoke hesitantly, looking from the two spells to the professor. "We're not going to get whiskers, are we?" As much as she loved cats, she wouldn't enjoy having only parts of one. |
Mina quietly wrote everything down and thought about what it was supposed to mean. Felintas sounded like it might have to do with cats but ristaris, she couldn't really decipher what the root word was referring to. Maybe they were going to get cat ears again or something. That was fun that one time and it would be interesting to have again. Still unsure, she kept quiet for the time being. |
Oops. Destiny was too busy being SUPER EXCITED over the fact that Professor Magnus was back, that she hadn't realized a question was asked. Which she should have been paying attention then, because this second question.. she had no idea what the answer was! She even tried to pronounce the words that were written on the board.. with no such luck, of course. After writing the words down, she listened to everyone's answer before raising her hand. "Maybe they change your mouth." Pfft, Evelyn said eyes. And Josh said nose. Mouth was next! |
Aurora frowned, she had entered to classroom quietly and observed the teacher greeting the other students. Her head hurt, a lot, and she was dehydrated from crying but she still wanted to earn points so she came anyway. Right, change appearance... Metamorphmagus? she didn't know that... "Um, eyes?" she said, raising her hand. Absolutely a wild guess but hey, if she got it right then... that was good. |

Hmm. "I'm afraid not, no. They both change it for however long you want, until you use the counterspell. Good try though," Issy grinned. Quote:

Especially bingo to the young Ravenclaw girl with the curly hair. "You three are correct! Especially you my dear," she pointed at Indy and smiled. "They do indeed change your hair. Felintas changes the length and style, and Ristaris changes the colour - it can also be used on eyes, but not today." Quote:
The grin on her face twitched wider as she pointed her wand at her head. A quick tap and her once long brown hair shrunk and became frizzy, until it looked very much like an afro style. Another tap changed it to a bright red colour. Surely they could now see where she was going with this? "That's right. You're going to become clowns for this lesson." Evil? Probably to those who cared what they looked like. Fun? Heck yes. "Before we get on with the spells though, I want you all to look the part. So please find a partner for this bit, because it's more fun that way, and come up and collect one of these sets of face paints." Isabelle reached inside one of the boxes on her desk and produced a pile of other boxes, each containing paints for them to use. She then walked over to the trunks and threw back the lids. "AND I have costumes for you to wear! Come and get one, get changed, then please do your partners make up. We'll move on when you've all completed that." OOC: You don't NEED a partner for this bit, but it is fun to paint all over someone else's face ;) If you want to do it on your own that is fine. Just have your character come and get a costume, change, and then pick up a painting kit. Sit in your pairs (if you're in one) and have fun! We'll move on later. Chatting about the task only please! |
Violet thought a minute--she had never heard of those spells, but she did have some ideas about the words they might have come from, so she raised her hand. "Well, felinus is from Latin and means 'cat-like', so 'Felintas' might make you--not look like a cat, exactly, but maybe give you some cat-like qualities. And 'Ristaris'--the only words I can think of like that are from Norwegian, riste, which means things like 'shake' and 'carve' and the grate that goes over a fire...but I can't imagine what any of those things have to do with changing your appearance." (...unless you wanted a face like a fire-grate, she supposed) ((OOC: Dratted server keeps going down and posting my answers late...)) |
Oh. Merlins stripey pants! They got to paint each others faces. That was SO cool. Indiana practically beamed, although she was blushing a little, after the teacher pointed her out for being very correct. Maybe she was a bit more nerdy than she thought she was. Indiana was happy though, she liked getting things right. She was also feeling very excited to get to dress up and stuff. It would be fun. Indy did not need to be told twice, and she was soon up, and at the front of the class, grabbing a costume, and some paint. Turning around, she glanced around the class. Now she just needed a a partner... |
Marilyn could have died. Did she look like she was in any condition to put up with this today? Not to mention... CLOWNS SCARED HER TO DEATH! *sigh* Turning to Evelyn, she shrugged. "Would you like to pair up?" |
Clowns? they are becoming clowns? Mweh , Daichi wanted to be a ducky but a clown was ok he guessed. It matched his cheerful personality. The second year Slytherin got up from his chair and walked over to the front of the class. It took him a few minutes to decide which costume he wanted and eventually he picked a yellow coloured one because it reminded him of duckies. Grabbing the paint next before he turned around looking with hopeful eyes for a partner in the class. |
Painting partner anyone? Clowns? Lysandra wasn't particularly fond of clowns. It's not that they scared her, she just didn't like them. Though, painting someones face sounds kinda fun. She got up from her seat at grabbed the required things and looked around to see if she'd like to partner up with anyone or if she knew someone. Just the thought of dressing as a clown kinda freaked her out a bit. Oh, well. It was part of the lesson, so she'd have to deal with it. |
Rory felt a bit of relief, knowing that he was right on track. Thank goodness, too. Though, as soon as he looked at the blonde-haired girl whom he had never met before in his life, he felt his heart cracking. Even though he was right, he wanted to be incredibly right, displaying the answers she had given. Oh, well. There's always next time. Suddenly, though, Professor Magnus looked like a strange little clown and immediately mentioned face painting. PAINT. Oh, yeah. Time to have fun. Without a moment's hesitation, Rory ran to the front and grabbed a costume and a set of face paint. "Time to get messy!" he said to himself. Only now, he needed a partner. But who? |
Quote:
She quickly jumped out of her seat and up to the front to get a costume. Well they wern't very fashionable, but they'd do. She found the a rather small one for herself and put it on. Nice. Now for the painting bit! That sounded fun. She turned around and spotted Daichi, the slytherin boy she'd talked to sometime. "Hey Daichi! Want to be partners?" sh asked smiling. |
Penny looked around her....."Does anyone want to pair up?", she asked the general crowd.. |
Evelyn didn't... Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? She paused right in the middle of writing down what the spells did when Professor Magnus had to go and ruin this awesome class for her. The Slytherin didn't understand what she meant 'they were going to become clowns for this lesson'. Surely that didn't mean they were actually going to become clowns. Yet with those outfits showing up and the way the professor's hair was, Evelyn sighed, scoffed, and scowled. ALL AT ONCE. This was as bad as making that tubby potion in potions class. Quote:
And she wasn't going to put clown make up on! |
