Transfiguration Lesson One: Clowning Around. Isabelle unlocked the door for her first lesson of term. It was earlier than she planned, but still, it was ready for when the kids arrived from their previous lesson. She could just sit in her chair and wait for them. As you enter you see all the usual desks in their rows, the blackboard at the front of the room right next to Professor Magnus's desk. On the floor in front of the board are two large trunks. On the desk are two boxes. You will find out the contents of them all once the lesson has begun. So please take a seat - Professor Magnus is already sat in hers awaiting you with a smile. ---------------------------------------------- OOC: I'm opening this earlier than planned, as my internet is going funny and I'm doing it while I can. Grrr. Please have your character enter and sit at one of the desks. You may talk a little bit to the people around you, but please NO EXCESSIVE CHATTER....I WILL DEDUCT POINTS FOR THAT! Once the lesson has begun, I will announce it in the title of my post. From then on if you post your character coming in late points will be taken from them. Thank you. USEFUL LINKS: CLASS HAS BEGUN - Question one Question two - new spells - Felintas & Ristaris Clown up people! Practice the first spell - Felintas. Telling off. Don't get her mad. Or practice the wrong spell. Questions & second spell practice - Ristaris. |

Wow, transfiguration class would be started soon! Raven walked into the classroom, she felt very enthusiast with the class. Besides D.A.D.A and Charms, she also waited for Transfiguration class. She saw Professor Magnus sat at her table. Raven smiled to her and greeted her. "Good Morning Professor Magnus! Hope I'll enjoy your class today." |
"Hey, Professor Magnus." Arya greeted the woman immediately upon entrance with a half-smile, not yet caring to notice the boxes and trunks. She was GLAD to have Magnus back, and had been looking forward to another one of her lessons, even if she was still down in the dumps about things. "It's great to have you back." The prefect took a seat up at the front of class as usual, and finally let her eyes wander as she settled in. What was in the boxes and trunks, she had no clue. But it had to be fun stuff, yes? She waited patently for the lesson to begin. |
Jonathan walked to his first Transfiguration lesson of the term. Yippe. Transfiguration is Jonathan's favorite subject besides from Charms and Potions. So he can't wait to learn something for this term. He walked inside and saw the professor with a smile on her face. She looks happy. Jonathan went up front to sit. "Good morning professor" Jonathan bowed as a simple gesture. He sat down and prepared his quill and parchment. Ready for the class to begin. |
Louisa peered into the classroom to check whether or not it was the time she'd read on the announcement board - since no one had arrived yet - and saw the professor sitting there. Yep. It was the right time. With an optimistic smile, she got inside adjusting her bag on her shoulder, "Hello, professor." Greeting the woman as she made her way to sit on one of the desks. |
The Slytherin girl had seen her at the feast, at those dance lesson things, and now...now she was almost sprinting to the lesson. Was it true?! Evelyn had seen no sign of Shaw around and she prayed to Merlin (for the next ten seconds) that she would see no sign of him in the classroom. The guy had some serious problems. Mentally that is. Stopping suddenly in front of the open door, she looked to the front of the classroom in search for the Professor, and both smiled and sighed in relief. Oh thank Merlin. "Professor Magnus! Good day." You're here. You...are...HERE. "Welcome back." |
Caroline was at bit early for today's Transfiguration class this morning. She left out of the dungeons earlier to make it up the the sixth floor where the classroom was. It was always one heck of a walk from there to anywhere above the fourth floor. Most of the time Caroline will run into someone on the way to classes in the corridors. This didn't happen to today which made her even more earlier. She got to the door and noticed that there was already a few people inside. She walked out in with a smile. "Hey, Professor Magnus. Welcome back!" She said as she walked past the front of the room toward the back to find a seat. |
Hoisting his school bag over his shoulder. Daichi made his way towards the Transfiguration class. Entering the room, he immediately saw a few students already seated in their seats and the professor sitting at the front. Daichi walked towards her and smiled broadly. "Hello, Professor!" he greeted and bowed a little like he had always learned from his father in respect. Turning around, the young Slytherin found a seat at the front of the class and sat down. |
Marilyn walked into the Transfiguration classroom, shades in place. It'd been one late night and awesome Death Day Party... She just couldn't sleep after getting back to her dorm... Taking a seat beside Rose, she removed the sunglasses. Yes, the blonde knew she looked rough. Whatever. "Good morning, Professor Magnus." |
MJ straightened her uniform, made sure she looked presentable and entered the Transfiguration classroom. "Hello Professor. My name is MJ Cacklesmaw. First Year in Ravenclaw House." MJ took a seat at a nearby desk and got her things out, ready for the lesson to begin. |
Another day, another lesson. Mina was usually extremely happy to be starting another Transfiguration lesson, it was one of her favourite subjects after all, but her slightly foul mood was still very much present. A part of her did want to just stay up in the tower, but she wasn't going to let that happen again. She had set out to make the best of her last year and that didn't mean that she would be locked away all term. Putting on a smile, she made her way into the classroom and made a beeline for the front row. "Good day, Professor." Her eye caught the two trunks and two boxes. Tilting her head slightly in question, she set her things on the first seat in the front she found and settled in. Pulling out a few pieces of parchment and a quill, she readied herself to take notes and what now. |
Jesifur nervously walked into the room and looked around. She nodded at the professor and gave a little smile as she walked past. She made her way across the room and sat in the second row. Setting her bag next to her she took out a journal for notes and other items she thought she might need and waited for the class to begin. |
Violet was pleased that she had made it to class in good time today (Hogwarts was so confusing to a first year!). She walked in the door and saw the professor. Good morning, Professor ... " Oh, Merlin, what was this professor's name? She hurriedly ran through all the names on her schedule in her head, then triumphantly added, "Magnus! I'm Violet P. Blackthorne, first year. I'm looking forward to your class." There, that went well (she hoped). She entered the room and took a seat, looking around curiously at the new classroom. |
Walking into the transfiguration class Nessie saw a familiar face. It was the professor she had seen by the waterfall, the one that had wanted them all to where those weird caps. The professor was pretty strict with the caps and Ness could only imagine how strict the professor would be in class. "Morning Professor!" She greeted. She smiled back as she headed off to sit down. |
So, Ellie saw Magnus around the grounds. But it only clicked NOW that it was odd to see her around. The lack of the kind Professor last term had completely slipped her mind. Ellie had just thought of Magnus as being here for the past two terms. That wasn't the case, though, obviously. And Ellie remembered now. She was quite excited to have a NORMAL Professor back. And the fact that it was Magnus and not someone she didn't know was better. She'd missed the woman. "Welcome back, Magnus!" Ellie greeted, beaming, as she rounded the desk to where the Professor was seated in her chair and gave her a hug. Yes, she was extremely happy. Especially after remembering the kind of Professor that taught this subject last term. She walked back to the students' desks and took a seat in the middle row, and off-centered to the left a bit. The perfect spot. |
TRANSFIGURATION! WITH PROFESSOR MAGNUS! Oh, Hugo was definitely excited for this class. Transfiguration had sucked with the stupid ministry professor, and he'd kind of missed his old professor. She had basically been his favourite professor. "Hello, professor Magnus," Hugo chirped as he hopped into the classroom. "It's good to have you back for Transfiguration," he said with a smile, before returning to his seat somewhere in the middle row too. |
Transfiguration. HORRIBLE subject. Ryden wasn't a fan. And after last term's professor she was sure that only nutters taught it as well. Although this lady didn't QUITE seem like a nutter, so perhaps that would change. Either way it was a terrible terrible subject. Nodding to the professor as she arrived, the blonde made a beeline for the back row, sitting down directly behind the Ravenclaw Quidditch captain. Oh, yes, she knew who she was. Ryden had actually thought of joining the team this year, but the sheer amount of people signing up for the tryouts meant that her chances of getting in where smaller. And the fifth year would not go try out if she knew that there was a chance she wouldn't get in - how embarrassing would that be? Plus, by the time she'd made up her mind, the signing up period had already finished. So yes, she knew the Quidditch captain. |
Daphne entered the classroom, wondering if she was late. She really didn't want to get into trouble even before the lesson had actually begun. That would be terrible. Whew! There were only a few students seated. "Good day, Professor." Daphne gave a smile before she made her way to a seat. |
Since she didn't have one of her best days, Nora felt a bit slow that day, so she woke up earlier than usual (yes, she was a punctuality freak) so she would have enough time to move on slow motion towards the Transfiguration classroom. "Hello, professor," she smiled the moment she noticed her, and then took a seat somewhere in the front. There were those boxes that managed to catch her attention, so she only propped her head on her palms, elbows on the desk, and kept staring at the two boxes as if she could see through them. |
Elise walked into her first Transfiguration class.... ever! "Good morning, Professor!" she grinned as she walked to her seat. |
Transfiguration usefull very usefull subject... She smilied at the new proffeser hopfuly she had common sense unlike Shaw and no that did not make her a buzzkill... Okay maybe a little ''Hello proffeser'' |
Kimalia walked in calmly for her next lesson, she smiled kindly at the Professor sitting in her chair, "Good day, Professor." Before walking to take her seat. |
I'll be starting in about an hour, we'll wait for a few more. :) SPOILER!!: The good morning kids :) Isabelle greeted each good morning with a broad smile and bright and cheerful "Good morning" of her own. There were far too many of them to do it all individually, plus some she didn't know - and others were kind enough to tell her. MJ, Violet....she'd remember. "Nice to meet you. I hope you all enjoy it as well." Well, she would...the look on the face of a couple of them signalled they might not all. SPOILER!!: The non talkers :p Two of them had failed to address her when they entered. Thankfully for them they had smiled, so she wouldn't mention it. Instead she smiled back and go comfy in her seat to wait until everyone was in. Quote:

"Thank you, Evelyn! And congratulations on that." Isabelle grinned and pointed at the Head Girl badge. Quote:
Issy gave him a warm grin and nodded her thanks. "I hope you'll all be gentle with me, my first lesson back," she winked. Truthfully, it was unlikely really. Quote:
As Ellie flung her arms around her, Isabelle's chair rolled backwards with the force. "Ohh my. Umm, thank you, Ellie. Nice to be back," she chuckled, patting the girl on the arm. "I'll be starting soon, but we'll just wait for the stragglers," Isabelle announced over the sound of the incoming students. |
Although she was going to miss Shaw, he did let her use a chainsaw after all, Destiny couldn't have been more excited for Transfiguration. Yes, she was always excited for this class, it was her favorite, but what made it better was that Professor Magnus was BACK! And it wasn't one of those evil replicas of the woman that she had learned about on the muggle box either. It was really her! Running up the many, many steps and through the corridor, she hurried inside the classroom. "Professor Magnus! YOU'RE BACK!" Just in case she wasn't aware of it herself. "Welcome back!" Ignoring all the trunks and boxes, Destiny gave the Professor a HUGE smile before making her way over to a seat in the very front row. And then she realized she had just run through the whole castle. Merlin, she was tired. |
Emily quickly turned the courner, her bag flailing behind her. She was late! She was going to lose point she knew it. She burst into the classroom just to see class hadn't started yet. Phew. All that running for nothing?! "Good day Professor." she said quickly pushing her hair back and taking a seat. Well... yeah. That was good then. |
Ah, yes! Transfiguration! One of my favourite subjects!, Gwendolyn thought while rushing along the corridor. Hopefully I won't be late, the girl told herself. And hopefully I won't end up loosing points from my house. That would indeed make this class awfull. 'Hello Professor', she greeted as she walked in the classroom. Scanning the place, the girl smirked at her friends, while trying to find a place where to sit. Finally taking a seat somewhere in the middle of the class, Gwendolyn waited patiently for the lessonto start. |
Transfiguration. Woot woot! Thea was okay at this one, so she looked forward to it. Wandering into the classroom, she flashed a smile at the professor. 'Hello professor!' Waving she moved along a bit, searching for a seat. Spotting Daichi already sitting, she winked and waved at him too. Mwahaha. |

Carter headed to the transfiguration classroom. This time he didn't even need Kurumi's help! Although... he wouldn't have had to check his schedule if the Prefect had been around... Where was she anyway? Speaking of people not there. There was no Shaw! Which meant... this was already a great lesson. "Hello Professor." he said happily. Now... where could he sit? Mina was there... still looking as mad as ever... So he really couldn't sit with Marilyn. (Not that he would seeing as she was next to Evelyn.) And he couldn't sit next to Caroline in front of Marilyn. So... Destiny it was. He took a seat next to her. Although, he hated that she decided on a seat in the front. At least there was no chance of her getting a hold of a chainsaw this lesson. |
Transfiguration... Though he very well knew the fact that Professor Magnus was back for he had seen her at the opening feast, even had given her a rose, Josh's eyes still looked for Shaw in the class the moment he had stepped into. Geez. Shaw's classes were awesome. Indeed, he was going to miss that man's unique classes however it never meant he was not liking Professor Magnus being back. Quite the opposite, actually, the Gryffindor was pretty much glad that it was her who was sitting at the desk there right now. And of course his school uniform could never be described as...tidy...yet it did match his messy hair. Apparently somebody had been rushing to the class. And it worked, hopefully, since he was NOT late at all. ''Hello, Professor Magnus. Good to see you again!'' After giving her a small smile and nod, Josh walked past to choose himself a good enough desk. |
Damon entered the classroom, ahh transfiguration a subject that Damon had pretty good experience in and hoped to make better as the term went on. Sitting down at one of the more recently made desks he waited for class to start. |
Transfiguration. Finally! Not that the other classes so far were boring, but this was one of her favorite classes ever. "Hello, Professor!" Jenny greeted the professor up front as she looked for a place to sit. After sitting down behind a desk in the middle of the room, Jenny suddenly noticed the trunks and the boxes. What could those be for? Jenny blinked. |
Transfiguration. Its not her best subject but it was an okay subject. Freya slowly peeked into the classroom hoping that she wasn't late. She saw Professor Magnus already there and also some of the students but to her luck the lesson has not started yet. She sighed and walked into the classroom. "Hello Professor Magnus. Welcome back." she greeted the Transfiiguration Professor with a warm smile. |
CLASS HAS BEGUN! No posting coming in from now on please. Quote:
SPOILER!!: Hello's "Hello, hello. Everyone take a seat please." Isabelle greeted each one with a grin and a gesture towards where they needed to go. Quote:
--------------------------------------- But anyway, on with class. Isabelle flicked her wand at the board and the chalk flew up and scribbled her name. "Good morning to all of you. My name, for those of you that don't know me, is Professor Magnus." Folding her arms as she leant on the desk, Issy eyed them all. They did appear to be ready. So she would begin. "First question to everyone - can you tell me the name we give to people who are born with the ability to change their appearance? Hair, facial features excetera...." OOC: Points are awarded for participation in the whole lesson, so don't worry if you aren't the first person to answer questions! Please no editing of your posts either. |
Hugo's hand shot up. "They're called Metamorphmagi," he blurded out. Now that was an easy one. Hugo had always admired Metamorphmagi. It'd be epic to change your appearance at will. |
Hehe. Her Grandmother had this skill.. Thea's hand shot up. 'Metamorphmagus!' Lowering her hand, Thea smiled at the professor. |
Marilyn raised her hand, the arm extention hurting immediately. "Metamorphmagus, Professor..." |
Caroline listened as the class started. Professor Magnus, asked the first question Can you tell me the name we give to people who are born with the ability to change their appearance? Her hand shot up. " Metamorphmagus or Metamorphmagi" She couldn't keep up with such things as which was the proper one. |
Damon raised his hand "is is not metamorphagus Professor?" Damon figured that would be the answer in a way. |
Text Cut: Ryden Text Cut: MAGNUS!! <3 Ellie BEAMED at Magnus. Simple BEAMED. She was very welcome. Her eyes drifted up to a familiar Ravenclaw who walked past her. She got a smile, too. Not a BEAM, but an ordinary, friendly smile. And class was starting. Magnus' class! "They're called Metamorphagi." Nod. They were pretty cool people. |
Jonathan startled when the professor first uttered the question. This is a basic question, he should at least know something about it and plus this is Transfiguration. Jonathan raised his hand to answer "An metamorphagi, professor.". Well Metamorphagi can change their appearance that includes the hair, facial features and what not. It should be right, right? Well, that's the only answer Jonathan could think of at the moment. |

Pulling out her notebook, surprisingly plain quill, and black ink, she opened to the first page and wrote...stuff. Random stuff until class started, or Josh showed up. Yet both happened at the same time. MEEP! Smiling at her boyfriend and pointing to the seat on the other side of her ('CAUSE IT WAS OPEN!), the Slytherin girl placed her attention back onto the professor. The name they give to people who... "Kurumi Hollingberry." she muttered quietly to herself, writing the CORRECT term in her notebook before raising her hand and giving the answer just like everyone else. "They're called metamorphmagi, Professor." |
Oh, class had begun! And they were talking about Metamorphmagi? Well it was a kind of transfiguration she guessed. She raised her hand. "A Metamorphmagus can!" She wasn't really sure she could expand on that... Besides the fact it'd be so cool to be born with that power! |
Quote:
Daphne raised her hand and said, "They are called metamorphmagi.." So, that was a little easy. Yes! |
This was the first subject Nikolas enjoyed the most: Transfiguration. After all, his day wasn't starting that bad, not with this class. The Slytherin already seated, waited for the class to begin and as if the professor was a mind reader, the class begun. The first question was an easy one and that was good because he didn't wanted to think too much, remembering all he has learned past years. He raised his hand. "That will be a metamorphmagus" he said with a bit of complication with the pronounciation. The word was weird after all. |
Sitting at the front of the class, Daichi saw his friend..atleast he thought she was a friend... waving at him before the lesson started. He smiled and turned his attention towards the front when the Professor asked the first question. He knew this! It was just that it was such a difficult word to pronounce. He raised his hand in the air though. "Meta..meta..wait" he bit his lower lip for a second. "Methamorphmagia!~...right?" |
SPOILER!!: Proffeser Luna raised her hand ''Metamorphmagi'' |
Quote:

Jesifur raised her hand along with the rest of the class, "I also agree with what everyone said, Metamorphmagi." she said when it was her turn. |
SPOILER!!: All you correct people. YAY! The wiper flew across the board and removed her name. Now the chalk was scribbling a different word - 'Metamorphmagus'. They were all so good. "You are all, of course correct," Issy beamed, clapping her hands together. "A Metamorphmagus...or 'magi' for the plural," she nodded in the direction of the students who had said that one, too. "Now it's a very rare gift, few people have the ability. And, as I'm sure you know, alot of it depends on emotion." She moved from the front of her desk and began walking up and down the aisles. Issy found it better to move as she talked. "So unfortunately for you all, it's not something I can teach you. HOWEVER there are spells that you can use to change your appearance - and in this lesson you will be doing two of them." Stopping by the board, Issy cleaned it herself and used the chalk to write by hand. Two spells, which were... Quote:

Text Cut: Ellie ... Had Ryden met the Quidditch captain before? For other than that, the blonde could think of no other reason for the girl to smile at her. Hmm. Odd. Text Cut: first question Well, as everyone else had said already... "Metamorphmagi, Professor," Ryden answered, raising her hand. They were AWESOME. One of the honestly coolest things about transfiguration, other than animagi. Animagi were cool too. HUMAN transfiguration was cool. The other things were just boring. Text Cut: second question Ryden... had no idea. How was she supposed to know?! Psht. It wasn't like the spell was called 'I-transfigure-some-body-part-into-something-else'. That would be much simpler to work out. Shrugging, she leaned back in her chair and awaited the bookworms to spew out answers. |
They were changing their appearance? Awesome! Hugo was never really fond of his nose. Maybe he could change that? They were the same... But different. "Perhaps one changes the part temporarily and the other changes it permanently?" Hugo asked hesitantly. |

Indiana was really looking forward to this lesson. She'd read the text book, and it seemed really interesting...and people that could change their appearance at will. Well they were very lucky. Ind would've loved to change her hair. That would've so much fun. Indiana wrote a few things down on her parchment, before looking up, and listening to the professor. She had no idea what those spells meant, but she figured that they must change part of her apperance. Indy decided that she may as well guess, that was the teacher was asking for right? Indy thought, before she raised her hand. "Maybe....they change your hair? Like does one change the length and the other the color?" |
Already beginning the ritual of tapping her quill on her desk and twirling it every so often, she happily listened to the professor, pleased that she could both understand what she was saying and that there was no chainsaw in sight. This was a happy class. Until those two spells went up onto the board. Evelyn had no idea what they were, nor could she split the words up and figure it out. Everyone was saying things about hair but, was that even right?! How would they know? Hesitantly raising her hand as she stared at the two spells, she shook her head slightly with a mighty confused look on her face. "Does one...change your eye color and the change it back again?" Shrug. |
August grinned as the Professor welcomed them all to class, it seemed as if she was going to be a great teacher. He had waited for class to start and when it finally did, she asked them all the first question...one about spells. "Umm can it possibly be about changing someone's body part into the form of a cat's? Because of the 'felin(e)'..." The Gryffindor hoped it was at least close. |
Thea blinked. Whaaa? Was it time for guessing already? Oh dear. 'Can one of them change.. the colour of something? Such as your hair or eyes?' Could be handy for disguises. 'Can another change things completely? such as your hair style?' These guesses were getting worse. Thea stopped talking and just sat there looking completely puzzled. |
The boy halted for a moment when Professor Magnus mentioned his wand. Yeaaaa. Ummm... Of course quickly he had checked the holster and...phew!...the hazel wood was safely there. Good good good. So nodding at the professor again, he directly made his way towards where Evelyn pointed him, the moment he caught the eye contact with her. During the first question, of which answer was this Metamorphmagi thing, was asked, the lion boy was too busy with making himself comfortable on the seat and making sure his girlfriend looked to be happy with it as well. Changing appearances...huh? He doubted he wanted that but it could have been useful at certain times of course. No problem if he was not a metamorph...thing anyway. What was the Polyjuice Potion for? And to be honest he had never heard of the spells on the board and he had no idea what they did but...what were guessing games for then? :D ''What about...nose, professor?'' Because that was going to be the only thing he was going to change on him. Not that he was unhappy with it, he just did not want to do further changes than that. |
Jesifur thought about it for a moment. Felintas, hmm, sounds like feline, Ristaris, sounds like something you might say to restore whatever might have been changed. Jesifur raised her hand. "Could Felintas possibly give you a cat like appearance? Ristaris sounds like how you would restore what ever you may have done." |
Quote:
As for the spells... She raised her hand. "The first spell makes me think of felines," she spoke hesitantly, looking from the two spells to the professor. "We're not going to get whiskers, are we?" As much as she loved cats, she wouldn't enjoy having only parts of one. |
Mina quietly wrote everything down and thought about what it was supposed to mean. Felintas sounded like it might have to do with cats but ristaris, she couldn't really decipher what the root word was referring to. Maybe they were going to get cat ears again or something. That was fun that one time and it would be interesting to have again. Still unsure, she kept quiet for the time being. |
Oops. Destiny was too busy being SUPER EXCITED over the fact that Professor Magnus was back, that she hadn't realized a question was asked. Which she should have been paying attention then, because this second question.. she had no idea what the answer was! She even tried to pronounce the words that were written on the board.. with no such luck, of course. After writing the words down, she listened to everyone's answer before raising her hand. "Maybe they change your mouth." Pfft, Evelyn said eyes. And Josh said nose. Mouth was next! |
Aurora frowned, she had entered to classroom quietly and observed the teacher greeting the other students. Her head hurt, a lot, and she was dehydrated from crying but she still wanted to earn points so she came anyway. Right, change appearance... Metamorphmagus? she didn't know that... "Um, eyes?" she said, raising her hand. Absolutely a wild guess but hey, if she got it right then... that was good. |

Hmm. "I'm afraid not, no. They both change it for however long you want, until you use the counterspell. Good try though," Issy grinned. Quote:

Especially bingo to the young Ravenclaw girl with the curly hair. "You three are correct! Especially you my dear," she pointed at Indy and smiled. "They do indeed change your hair. Felintas changes the length and style, and Ristaris changes the colour - it can also be used on eyes, but not today." Quote:
The grin on her face twitched wider as she pointed her wand at her head. A quick tap and her once long brown hair shrunk and became frizzy, until it looked very much like an afro style. Another tap changed it to a bright red colour. Surely they could now see where she was going with this? "That's right. You're going to become clowns for this lesson." Evil? Probably to those who cared what they looked like. Fun? Heck yes. "Before we get on with the spells though, I want you all to look the part. So please find a partner for this bit, because it's more fun that way, and come up and collect one of these sets of face paints." Isabelle reached inside one of the boxes on her desk and produced a pile of other boxes, each containing paints for them to use. She then walked over to the trunks and threw back the lids. "AND I have costumes for you to wear! Come and get one, get changed, then please do your partners make up. We'll move on when you've all completed that." OOC: You don't NEED a partner for this bit, but it is fun to paint all over someone else's face ;) If you want to do it on your own that is fine. Just have your character come and get a costume, change, and then pick up a painting kit. Sit in your pairs (if you're in one) and have fun! We'll move on later. Chatting about the task only please! |
Violet thought a minute--she had never heard of those spells, but she did have some ideas about the words they might have come from, so she raised her hand. "Well, felinus is from Latin and means 'cat-like', so 'Felintas' might make you--not look like a cat, exactly, but maybe give you some cat-like qualities. And 'Ristaris'--the only words I can think of like that are from Norwegian, riste, which means things like 'shake' and 'carve' and the grate that goes over a fire...but I can't imagine what any of those things have to do with changing your appearance." (...unless you wanted a face like a fire-grate, she supposed) ((OOC: Dratted server keeps going down and posting my answers late...)) |
Oh. Merlins stripey pants! They got to paint each others faces. That was SO cool. Indiana practically beamed, although she was blushing a little, after the teacher pointed her out for being very correct. Maybe she was a bit more nerdy than she thought she was. Indiana was happy though, she liked getting things right. She was also feeling very excited to get to dress up and stuff. It would be fun. Indy did not need to be told twice, and she was soon up, and at the front of the class, grabbing a costume, and some paint. Turning around, she glanced around the class. Now she just needed a a partner... |
Marilyn could have died. Did she look like she was in any condition to put up with this today? Not to mention... CLOWNS SCARED HER TO DEATH! *sigh* Turning to Evelyn, she shrugged. "Would you like to pair up?" |
Clowns? they are becoming clowns? Mweh , Daichi wanted to be a ducky but a clown was ok he guessed. It matched his cheerful personality. The second year Slytherin got up from his chair and walked over to the front of the class. It took him a few minutes to decide which costume he wanted and eventually he picked a yellow coloured one because it reminded him of duckies. Grabbing the paint next before he turned around looking with hopeful eyes for a partner in the class. |
Painting partner anyone? Clowns? Lysandra wasn't particularly fond of clowns. It's not that they scared her, she just didn't like them. Though, painting someones face sounds kinda fun. She got up from her seat at grabbed the required things and looked around to see if she'd like to partner up with anyone or if she knew someone. Just the thought of dressing as a clown kinda freaked her out a bit. Oh, well. It was part of the lesson, so she'd have to deal with it. |
Rory felt a bit of relief, knowing that he was right on track. Thank goodness, too. Though, as soon as he looked at the blonde-haired girl whom he had never met before in his life, he felt his heart cracking. Even though he was right, he wanted to be incredibly right, displaying the answers she had given. Oh, well. There's always next time. Suddenly, though, Professor Magnus looked like a strange little clown and immediately mentioned face painting. PAINT. Oh, yeah. Time to have fun. Without a moment's hesitation, Rory ran to the front and grabbed a costume and a set of face paint. "Time to get messy!" he said to himself. Only now, he needed a partner. But who? |

She quickly jumped out of her seat and up to the front to get a costume. Well they wern't very fashionable, but they'd do. She found the a rather small one for herself and put it on. Nice. Now for the painting bit! That sounded fun. She turned around and spotted Daichi, the slytherin boy she'd talked to sometime. "Hey Daichi! Want to be partners?" sh asked smiling. |
Penny looked around her....."Does anyone want to pair up?", she asked the general crowd.. |
Evelyn didn't... Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? She paused right in the middle of writing down what the spells did when Professor Magnus had to go and ruin this awesome class for her. The Slytherin didn't understand what she meant 'they were going to become clowns for this lesson'. Surely that didn't mean they were actually going to become clowns. Yet with those outfits showing up and the way the professor's hair was, Evelyn sighed, scoffed, and scowled. ALL AT ONCE. This was as bad as making that tubby potion in potions class. Quote:
And she wasn't going to put clown make up on! |

Gideon took notes on the spells being discussed, the boy however staying quiet as he simply listened to the answers being given. Transfiguration was one of his favorite subjects and not just because he had any prociency or because of the abilities of his parts but it did play a part. The Gryffindor watched as the professor changed her hair, the fourth year raising an eyebrow wondering if it would really work on his unruly hair. Would certainly be interesting to see what he'd look like without it. But then Professor Magnus explained the reasoning behind it and he nearly groaned. Clowns?! Not a fun prospect at all and it would mean keeping the curls just changing them colors making it more ackward. And costumes? This class was soooo not turning out the way he thought it might, especially when mention on metamorphus' was first brought into play. With a soft sigh, Gideon got up from his seat to head to the front of the class to grab what would be needed while his gaze looked around for a partner. |

Clowns! We get to be clowns for a class. That was hilarious, Jesifur got up and grabbed a costume and some paints. Pulling her robes off and the costume on she was already feeling funnier. This was just like when she played dress up with her cousins, which they had done many times. Face painting was always her job when they dressed up so this would be fun! |

ooc: The site has been down and I just managed to get in now. Alyssa again was disappointed that she wasn't fast enough to provide the answers the Professor had asked the students. She knew the first answer was Metamorphmagi and that one of the spells mentioned Felintas was to change the length and style of the hair but she hadn't been sure about the second answer and that's why she had waited to answer. But she knew that she should have tried to answer at least once, because now it was too late to say anything. She was angry at herself. She was so darned slow. Sigh! and for that her house would not win any points today. She really wasn't in the mood to play dress up now but she knew that she had to continue with the class. She moved forward when the Professor asked everyone to pick up a set of face paints and grabbed a costume from one of the trunks. She really didn't care what she looked like. She was feeling like a dummy anyway, she might as well dress like one. She went to change into her costume and looked around to see whether there was anyone who didn't have a partner yet. Quote:

Clowns? Clowns were creepy. Still, Olivia guessed this lesson could be fun and she was glad that they were actually going to be able to practice magic in this lesson. She needed all the practice she could get. She went up to the front of the classroom and got a costume - it was quite cute and she always had enjoyed dressing up - and picked up some facepaints too before making her way back to her seat. She sat there, knowing that she should try and find a partner to work with but she was far too nervous. She'd never been particularly good in social situations and while that was improving now she was at Hogwarts, she still wasn't comfortable enough to go and ask to work with someone. |

"Anyway. Want to be a happy or sad clown?" she grinned. |
CLOWNS? CLOWNS. The professor definitely showed her dramatic side through this lesson and Lola was found fiddling her fingers with excitement, her top hat on her desk, twitching somewhat. "Costumes???" Eyes wide, mouth open, she immediately hopped off her seat and grabbed the beautiful garment. After changing, she presented herself to the class, her hands in the air and gesturing such deep arm movements. I--I am a tree, my limbs swaying gracefully through the air! "Partners? Anybody? I wish to present the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP to my lovely peers," she said enchantingly. With an oh-so-angelic smile on her face, she grabbed the sets of face paint. Anybody? Lola was just so desperate to show off her artistic skills. |

In fact, she wasn't even going to partner up with anyone until LOLA offered the World a partner. Then... "Little Hutchinson!" Ellie called to Indiana, and made a motion with her head for the girl to come join her. Yeah, she was NOT going to be left with LOLA as her partner. She could paint the little girl's face. And maybe she'll let Little Hutchinson paint hers. But that was as far as she was going with this 'clown' business. |

"I'd usually agree...but this is participation and we both care about our grades." The blonde frowned, looking at the front of the classroom where the clown accessories were displayed. "Did I ever tell you I was deathly scared of circus clowns? I think I might hyperventilate if I put on that outfit..." |
Quote:
Looking up when she mentioned the carnival, his mind raced back to the rollercoaster and he smiled stupidly. "Right!" he said before turning to look at the girl. "I want to be a ducky " he whined as he pouted his lips. "But if we have to become clowns..." DUH that was the lesson right? "Then i'll pick a happy one of course!" Daichi didn't like sadness , even though it was a emotion too. He prefered being happy so a happy clown it was. "What about you?" |
Quote:
"This is gonna be so much fun." The first year giggled, with a big smile. She hoped Ellie wouldn't get too annoyed because she was so excited, because that wuld be reaaallly bad. |

Indiana was going all out with this, wasn't she? It was quite cute, actually, how excited she was. And Ellie couldn't say that she wouldn't have been just as excited in her first year. "Tons!" she said, the enthusiasm was forced, but Indy probably wouldn't notice. "Let's see...why don't you put that on," she pointed to the costume, "first? And then we'll do your make up? That way you won't get the make up all over the costume." Logic. |
Quote:
"I guess..." he started, "I'll be your partner." He had a feeling that as soon as she heard this, she would throw her arms around him and squeal and...well, do other absurd things. |

Staring at the Slytherin girl as if she were suddenly speaking another language, Evelyn took a quick peak at those outfits and cringed. "Marilyn..." she said, failing to finish her sentence. Hyperventilate if she put the outfit on? Evelyn may do just that, but for an entirely different reason. "Well then...what if we just painted eachothers faces?" Hmmm? "Not like a clown though. Just like, a butterfly near our eyes or something like that." That was clown-ish enough, wasn't it? Marilyn had a point about them both caring about their participation grades. |
Clowns? *wibble* Clowns were mean. They once robbed his mother and took his ice cream too. No. He was not participating. Folding his arms across his chest like a stubborn child, Ezra sulked in his seat, feeling uneasy as everyone kick-started their painting jobs. Although he was no Picasso, he liked to paint. And those face paints had a very come hither look going on. Oh, the dilemma. After several minutes of reflecting, Ezra stopped by the front desk and grabbed a set of clown supplies, "Yoohoo, I need a partner." He called out, glancing around the class for a friendly face to ruin. |
Quote:
Ooh. Indy bet that Ellie would be good at make up. She smiled at Ellie after she had put her costume on. "Readdy." She giggled, with a big smile. |
Quote:
"A duck?" she giggled looking from the yellow paint to Daichi. She wanted to be an animal as well! "Tell you what. I'll give you an orange mouth. That's sort of like a duck beak right?" Sort of, but not really. If only they could have just painted whatever they wanted, but it was a lesson after all. "I'll be the sad clown then!" She laughed. Sad clowns were more interesting, they had more of a story to them. Plus she prefered the blue paint. |
Text Cut: Delusional Professor O__________________________O WHAT?! Ryden was NOT going to do that. She would NOT. Did the professor even SEE herself?! She looked ridiculous! The blonde looked on, aghast, as people actually began getting in pairs and going up to change into those COSTUME THINGS and take the clown make up. NO. SHE WOULD NOT. Folding her hands over her chest, she waited to see what would happen. SURELY she wasn't the only one, right?! Bloody hell, transfiguration professors were MENTAL. And as far as partners went, Ryden was NOT pairing up with that Slytherin girl. NO WAY NO. ... But that boy who'd just asked. . . Well. He SEEMED normal. She could be persuaded into it. HOW did THIS have ANYTHING to do with transfiguration?! |

Tori sank down in her seat and folded her arms with a little huff, clearly upset at the idea of ruining her already perfect face with a pound of makeup. Ugh eww eww and yuuuuuuuck. She was sulking. Quote:
"Yoooohoo," she called back to the boy, waving her hand in front of his face, "I'll be your partner." Heheh. She'd get to put makeup on a BOY. Yay. |

Oh gosh. How ridiculous she looked. Magnus probably had cameras disillusioned around the room that she was magically setting off on occasion, documenting the embarrassment she was putting those gullible enough to obey her orders through. The Fifth year plastered a smile on her face for Indiana's sake. "Excellent. Now," she opened the make up box and pulled out the paints, "Do you want to look like the clown on the box? Or mix it up a bit?" Like hearts instead of those boring squares or whatever they were. |

"Hi!" She greeted with a smile. "Want to be partners?" If she said yes, and she hoped that she would, Kourtney could get a costume and they could get started. |
Quote:
"Yoohoo to you too." He grinned, handing her the costume. "I'm Ezra. And you?" He figured it was better to ask names as soon as possible because he had this habit of not introducing himself to others altogether."Or do you prefer referring to ourselves as clown no. 1 and clown no. 2." Hehe. He liked that idea better. "We're SO going to be in character!" He beamed, excited to paint her a new face. Oooh. There were sooo many ideas swimming around in his head. |
