Yes, he was charming. Of course he was.
She still couldn't escape those eyes of his. They were taunting; she just wanted him to stare at her like that all day.
Glancing at him, taking note of everything he did; the way he leaned towards her, the way they both tilted their heads, the way they saw the world the same way. He leaned closer towards her. She shifted her body weight, moving herself closer to him in the least subtle manner possible.
Adelyn had never been good at subtlety. So it wasn't like the moment back in Florean's. (Which, by the way, was really fun to pronounce. You can just sit back and let it roll off your tongue.) But it wasn't like a 'Wow, this is kinda weird in retrospect but not. Now. And yeah.' or the 'You're weally pwetty.' The two combined was the moments at the ice cream store.
But this was just, different.
I don't know how to describe it. Actually, I don't know if you could describe it. It wasn't just there. It was really, really there. I don't know if that makes sense. Most of the stuff I say usually doesn't.
Suddenly, without me controlling it or anything, we were really awfully close. I blushed. A little. Not extremely. I mean, I don't know about Cinderella, but sure as heck wasn't uncomfortable.
I mean, I was kinda in a weird position...but I didn't notice it. When we were this close I could breathe her in better.
Look, I know it sounds weird, but I already told you I didn't know the words to describe it. I tried. |

Look, I know it sounds weird, but I already told you I didn't know the words to describe it. I tried. There weren't any words that she could think of that fit this moment. It was different than in Diagon Alley, because now they kind of knew were they stood with each other. However, this moment...it was unlike anything she had been through, ever.
Something was just there between them. Something that she couldn't exactly name. It was just there.
She was suddenly aware that he noticed their closeness. Her cheeks turned pink again, but she didn't mind. She wanted to be this close. Actually, she wanted to be closer, but she wasn't going to push it. Where they were was comfortable.
Sure, her legs were tucked under her in an awkward position, but it didn't matter. Right now, all that mattered was how close they were sitting.
She ran her fingers through her hair, tilting her face towards his. She studied his expression, his body language, and his robes. Green. "So, Slytherin, huh?" |

I suddenly noticed I was actually pretty uncomfortable siting like that so I sat back up again. "Yeah." So here we were. "Stinky Resort Number One. Woopee." I swear. The sarcasm on my voice must have been palpable. "It's been a real trip" And I meant it. I mean, Slytherin? Where all the evil kids and psycho's got to? And I was supposed to SLEEP in the SAME ROOM as them? Some one was playing a really big, nasty joke on me and it was really getting annoying. King Tet, probably.
"I mean, if the symbol was like bunny or something, I could cope. But snakes..." I shivered. Need I say further.
Needless to say, I thought I was living in a Psycho ward. Yay... |

Needless to say, I thought I was living in a Psycho ward. Yay... She furrowed her brow at his frown. She didn't like that grimace on his face. It just didn't fit.
He moved back, too, so now they were back to being far away. This time she frowned slightly. "So, you don't like Slytherin?" She asked, taking the opportunity to re-fold her legs into a more comfortable position. She had taken her robes off before walking down to the tree, so now she was wearing shorts and a cardigan. It was problem the last time she'd be able to wear shorts, because autumn was quickly approaching.
He didn't belong in Slytherin. Slytherins were...not like him. Given, she didn't know many Slytherins, but she knew he didn't belong in that house. "You should've been in my house..." Adelyn shrugged. She would've liked that, more than she'll let on. "Our symbol is a lion." Oh. Speaking of being a Gryffindor...and wanting to lighten the mood... "Slytherin and Gryffindor friendships used to be frowned upon. Really frowned upon." She said, smirking slightly. Her father used to tell her all about it. "Lucky, it isn't so much anymore."
Now she really grinned. "But even if it was, I'd still be your friend...because forbidden is fun." She said it quietly, close to a whisper, the corner of her lips curling into a mischievous smile.

Lion eh? I pondered this. "No. Not at all. I feel like I'm sleeping with a bunch of creeps." Yeah. "It's really disturbing." I then noticed that it had been I that had moved away from our little posture goin' on. I felt guilty. I looked longingly at the spot I had just unconsciously moved away from. "Hey uh...so what ARE the characteristics of a Slytherin?" I mean, if I was gonna be stuck with these guys, I better know what their symptom was. And why the Old British Hat thought I fit with them. "I'd like that too" I grinned. By by for the grimace! For now. "Gryffindor. Wouldn't that be, like a...Griffin?" Life made no sense in the obscene world of the British Isles. Wait.
Wait.
Forbidden? I was good at forbidden. Naw, I was like, SUPER at forbidden. Okay, maybe not super. Or really, I wasn't good. I just kinda...ended up in a position...where I wasn't supposed to be...and I was always able to get out of it. My friends were always jealous of my natural ability to slither out of trouble.
....Slither. Snake. Ew. Wait....were these British Snakes brainwashing me?!?!?! Cause, if they were, that would be like...super bad. Like. Superbad.
It was pretty bad. Okayokay. Now I'm rambling. Sorry. It's how my brain works...you gotta forgive me. Anyway, back to the point. Forbidden and I got along. "Wellll....it just so happens I like forbidden..." I answered her mischievous grin with one of my own. You know? This was a whole 'nother side of her.
And I liked it. |

And I liked it. "Are they all really that bad?" She frowned, feeling badly; knowing he didn't fit in there. She couldn't help but wonder what the sorting hat had been thinking. "I've never actually had a friend from Slytherin before, I've just heard stories." Her eyes passed over the spot between them, the spot that made it seem like miles between them; she wanted desperately to move into the space, but didn't want to make it obvious that she wanted to be closer to him. "The characteristics? Hm. Generally, it's said they're ambitious and cunning. But they're also strong leaders, clever, and determined." The way it came out made them sound so much better than the stories she'd been told, but she didn't say that. "Really, it's just what you make of it, I suppose. It's just a house...it doesn't really determine exactly who you are. Not all Slytherins are as evil as I'm told, I assume; you're not like that, I mean." She was definitely making things worse; she looked down at her hands, embarrassed.
Then she heard the grin in his voice. Yes, she actually heard it. Looking up, she couldn't help but grin back at him. Then she laughed. "No, no, not like a Griffin. Um." How did she explain it? "The four houses were named after the four founders. Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff, and Rowena Ravenclaw. Each is represented by a certain animal, as I am sure you've noticed." It felt weird explaining something that she was basically born knowing.
He was lost in thought, clearly. She stared at him, trying to figure out what he was thinking again; she didn't want to ask. "Oh, you like forbidden, do you?" She replied, half sarcastic half serious. Really, it was that look that got to her. She kept the mischievous grin on her face, not ready to give in yet.
She liked where this was going a little too much.

She liked where this was going a little too much. Stories.
Well, I knew all about stories. I’m an actor after all, eh? They’re not always true. On the other hand…all the information I had about the Stinky Resort was also through stories. So…yeah. I’m a hypocrite. Sue me. On the third hand (and yes, there is a third hand) I didn’t really care if they were stories or not. If Cinderella believed it then DUH. It must be true.
Hmph.
And then. And then. And then she went ahead to describe the qualities of a classical Slytherin. Surprisingly, I didn’t hear ‘evil’, or ‘twisted’, or ‘freakish’. No. I heard ambitious and cunning. I heard strong leader, clever, and determined. All of which, incidentally, were qualities of which I associated myself. They were the qualities I was praised for. Cunning? Clever? Determined? These were the reports my parents got on the notes home about me. Acting scouts had come and loved me just because of my bounding ambition. And they hired me! Even when I didn’t have a particularly good audition.
So…what was this supposed to mean? Did any of those things tie into evil? Or twisted? Was I evil? Cough Cough. Yeah right. If there’s one thing I am, it’s not evil. I fight for human and animal rights, soo….yeah. That means I’m not evil. At least not by my definition. But then again, none of the evil people in history thought they were being evil…Okay. I’m dropping it.
I’m not evil.
At least that’s what I’d like to think. Anyway, I’m rambling again. In my head. Which makes no sense. And then she said that I wasn’t evil. Which, given my thoughts at that current moment, meant more to me than she probably intended. Unconsciously, I scooted a little closer to her. And then she grinned back at me. Sigh. What a perfect day. I scooted another inch in her direction. “So…four houses, four people. Seems simple enough.” I thought for a moment then let out a short bark of laughter. “Let me guess.” I said. “Back, back when; Mr. Slytherin and Mr. Gryffindor got into a fight. And ever since the houses have disliked each other?” It sounded funny, and amusing. Like something you would find written in a fairy tale. “Oh yes…indeed.” Perhaps I looked a little more mischievous than I thought I was. “Know any…” I paused for the effect. “Forbidden things around here I should know about?” |

Like something you would find written in a fairy tale. “Oh yes…indeed.” Perhaps I looked a little more mischievous than I thought I was. “Know any…” I paused for the effect. “Forbidden things around here I should know about?” There was silence between them for a bit, as both of their heads were full of churning thoughts. She couldn't even begin to imagine what was going through his head, but in hers, she couldn't stop thinking about how perfect everything was right now. And about how, more than anything, she wished he was in Gryffindor with her.
But she couldn't change that; the Sorting Hat decided where everyone goes, and usually, he's always right. He knows more about every person than the person himself, so obviously the Sorting Hat had a reason to put Sylvester in Slytherin. Adelyn just couldn't help but wonder why.
The stories. There were always stories, and maybe it was because of the notorious old-fashion rivalry between the two houses, but she had always believed them to be true. She had generally seen most Slytherins the same way. Selfish, arrogant, twisted. But stories could be wrong, right? Not everyone in Slytherin was like that, right? All those years, she'd believed her father's stories, because everything he had told her was supposed to be true, but could he have been wrong? Could he have been biased because he had been a Gryffindor, too? She hated thinking her dad was wrong, but what if?
Or maybe things had just changed. Clearly, not all Slytherins were evil. Some of them were incredibly nice. And had beautiful eyes. And made her laugh. And. Okay. Off topic.
She shook her head, mostly to herself, to get the thoughts out of her head, but it sent her curls flying slightly. Then she looked over at him again, unconsciously moving over just a tiny bit towards him. She grinned at him. And moved over another inch closer to him. "As cliche as that sounds, yes; that's pretty close to what happened." She stated, matter-of-factly. Again, it was weird explaining something that most Hogwarts student had known for their entire lives, if they were from wizarding descent. "Back when Hogwarts was founded and for hundreds years, Slytherin was the house where all the purebloods went; those select few students whose family trees were only magical. Slytherin had wanted to make Hogwarts only opened to those whose blood was pure, but Gryffindor didn't agree and the other two founders sided with Gryffindor, too. In the end, Gryffindor and Slytherin had a severe falling out, and ever since then, the rivalry stayed." It sounded standard, like a children's story, but really, it made all the difference. If Slytherin had gotten his way, many current and past Hogwarts students wouldn't have been able to attend, including herself.
Now she giggled, letting the mischievous look falter slightly, but then gathering it back again. She had let a few strands of hair fall into her eyes, adding a little extra effect to whatever look she was going for right now. "Well, for starters, this friendship. Completely and totally forbidden." The grin extra mischievous now. "But don't let that stop you; like I said, forbidden makes it fun." She looked up at him with her chocolate eyes, through her auburn curls, sparkling mysteriously. "There's also the forest, don't go there. Oh, and don't wander the corridors at night. Ever." |

Ever." “Wait. It is?” I had been meaning that as a joke, not anything serious. So the original Slytherin WAS evil and twisted. So I wasn’t crazy. “Gosh…he was a really evil man, wasn’t he?” I really didn’t like discrimination. I mean, no one did. But somehow, I noticed it in people more than others did. Out of anyone I knew, it would be me that noticed if some guy was picking on this guy or that guy based on any reason. And I knew that in Europe the difference between Solid bloods (or Pure bloods, as they said here) and Muggle born was much greater than it was at home.
This was really what happened? Woah…This was like, totally story worthy. Superduper story worthy. Play worthy? Yes. “So um…are there…you know…” I scratched the back of my head. “Any plays written about such story?” Cause I mean, I could get famous. Like, you know, big time.
But lets forget all that.
Something much more important had arisen to my attention. We were both a lot closer together than we were before. It looked as if I had scooted towards her…and, to my glee, she had scooted over to me. This was, by far, much more important than any old British Wizarding fairy tale, even if it was true.
In the past, that is to say a few days previously at Florean’s (heh), Cinderella had seemed like a perfect girl. The girl who could do everything. However, she now evidently had a different side as well. And I like it. A lot.
She even had the whole mischievous grin and hair style pretty much nailed without really trying. And let me tell you one thing: That girl looked Fine. Well, that’s what some people would say. I would say she just happened to seem irresistibly cute, especially like this. Somehow she had gotten her whole persona into a little trouble maker. Somehow even her creamy chocolate eyes and precious auburn curls were suddenly glinting with a hard, bright (and awesome) glare of mischievousness. “We’re forbidden, eh? Well I guess that just means I must hold on to you for as long as possible.” And I did. I didn’t even register the many ways that sentences could be interpreted. “Never? Neverever? What if…you know. I wanna see a friend. At night.” I grinned. |

I wanna see a friend. At night.” I grinned. "Yes, it is. Try not to sound so shocked." She meant it to be teasing, but he did actually sound genuinely surprised. "I guess you could say that. Back then and up until the second Wizarding War, there were always those people who thought purebloods were superior. It's just how it went. I'm sure there are still people who think that, actually. Purebloods, half-bloods, Muggle borns; it used to be a big deal. Blood status was really important here. It was the source for a lot of continuing rivalries; some passed down through families. I never had to experience it firsthand, but my dad used to tell me stories about it a lot."
It was strange, explaining something as important as this to someone; most of the students knew it. It was second nature to everyone by now, at least for the ones who had magic in their blood somehow, and those that didn't usually read about it before coming here. It was history. She hadn't realized that he might not have had to deal with all of this back in America. "A play? There might be. I know there are books, because things like this basically shaped our culture here. But I'm not sure about a play." Even if she was a little theatre geek, she had never come across a play about her history.
She glanced out of the corner of her eye, taking note of their sudden closeness. They had both moved towards each other, and the space between them was down to mere inches. She couldn't help but smile happily, a light pink heat filling her cheeks. Every other thought left her head, their closeness was all she could focus on.
There was just something about right now, this moment, who they were. Back at Florean's when they had first met, there was something about him there, but it wasn't like right now. There he had been charming, perfection, everything a girl could have wanted and more. But here...this was new. He was mysterious and wonderful and alluring. He was a whole new definition of the word trouble; even his eyes seemed to dance with mischief as they stared at hers. "We're absolutely forbidden." She said softly with a devilish grin. "I guess we'll just have to hold on to each other. For as long as possible." And in that moment, it's all she wanted; for him to hold her and not have to let go. "If you got caught, you might get expelled, and I don't want to risk that. Even if it was really important. At night." |

Something MIGHT have popped into my head about being famous for writing the first ever play on British Wizarding History. Maybe. A blip. Perhaps a big blip but a blip nonetheless.
So here we were. Sylvester and Cinderella. Placed on opposite sides of a scale. However, here we were, and we were talking. And enjoying it. At least, I was enjoying it. I was enjoying our conversation very much. I inwardly grinned (which is difficult but possible). This time, both of us were in fairly comfortable positions, since we were sitting up instead of half sideways.
I couldn’t help thinking some of the cheesier of my stories. Of the flamboyant songs that made you want to dance and jump around. I felt that, somewhere, someone was playing that really cheesy dance music and I? I really wanted to just jump around. With Cinderella.
Of course, I also wanted coffee, and I’m sure that had nothing to do with music.
I was a little peachy. And she was a little pinky. As in, we were both blushing a little. I’m not sure why. I wasn’t really embarrassed. WAIT. Does blushing come as a result of happiness? I suppose so…Hm. This was food for thought. “As long as possible.” I repeated. I smiled larger. If that was possible. “Of course…what if I didn’t get caught? At night.” I raised an eyebrow mischievously. |

There'd be a time for that, or so she was hoping. She looked up at him, just slightly, and smiled. He just did that to her, made her smile just by sitting there. It wasn't anything he said or did, it was just him. Being here. Right now.
She wanted to sing and jump. Just being with him made her want to do that. She might be a theatre kid, but usually, she kept to herself, not drawing attention. But he made her want to jump and just scream. Because she was happy and invincible with him.
His cheeks were tinted with a color, too; not exactly matching her ever-scarlet cheeks, but blushed nonetheless. She wasn't embarrassed, and she hoped he wasn't either? What was it then? Just plain joy. Could you blush from that? "As long as possible..." She couldn't help but say it again, grinning. It made it more real. Because it was real. And it wasn't like saying forever. She hated when people said forever; because forever is a long time and you can't promise forever. "I suppose if you didn't get caught, then maybe. Maybe you could go see a friend. At night." The mischievousness was in her voice and smile.

We must have continued to move closer…or perhaps we just lean in a little. And of course it was then King Tet decided to interfere. She was right next to me. RIGHT next to me. Her hand was just sitting on her knee. Just sitting there. Her shoulders seemed to have been molded for someone to wrap their arm around them.
I wanted to put my arm around her and jump up at the same time. I wanted to sing and dance with her (though she would have to do the singing. I sure couldn’t).
This was real. It was nice, and cozy. The coziest thing in all of Britain, as far as I was concerned. It was nice, cozy, and Cinderella. Which was, in this case, an adjective. I wanted to be a Gryffindor just so I could see her every night. I sighed. But it was a happy sigh. “At night. As long as possible. A friend.” I tilted my head and grinned. “Sounds fun.” |

He could easily take her hand, it was only sitting on her knee. He could take it and it would fit perfectly with his.
She wanted him to take her hand, and spin her around. She wanted to sing because he made her happy. Happy wasn't even the word to describe what he made her. He made her above and beyond happy.
This was perfect. She glanced over at him, trying not to let him see. She wanted to rest her head on his shoulder, and breathe him in. But she wouldn't. She sighed. Content. "As long as possible. At night. Friends." She repeated back, staring into his eyes. She tilted her head towards him, smiling. "Sounds...perfect." |

I repeated as I smiled merrily down to her. I couldn't help think to myself that I wasn't...doing anything. And I should. I mean, obviously. I should be taking the initiative. For what? Well...I'm not really sure. But I shouldda.
As I looked into her eyes (her wonderful chocolate eyes, may I add) I thought of all the girls at home. They were...so petty. So insignificant compared to Cinderella. Some were shallow, some were not, most were petty. They had very small worlds, not many could see the big picture, like I could.
But Cinderella could see the bigger picture. She wasn't petty at all. Or at least that's what I thought. And I'm nearly never wrong.
But...I still should be taking initiative. Basically, I'm just sitting around trying to think of something besides doing something. It was...disturbing. Mostly because I wanted to take initiative but I wasn't and...ugh. My head confuses me.
Almost without think, I let my hand drift to my knee, to the point where our pinky fingers were practically touching. |

Almost without think, I let my hand drift to my knee, to the point where our pinky fingers were practically touching. She wanted to repeat it again, to make it seem real, but instead, she was mesmerized by that smile of his. This is where one of them should have done something. One of them should have said something. One of them should have taken this somewhere else. But both of them just sat there, grinning like fools.
Looking into those eyes, nothing else seemed to matter. Those few boys in the muggle world that she had something with, or had wanted something with, they seemed insignificant. Stepping stones on the way to getting to him. Only focused on one thing. But Sylvester...he was different.
He clearly cared more and saw more than just his own world, the way she did. He saw something bigger, or at least that's what she thought he saw.
She thought about making the first move. Doing something. Anything. Moving her hand over just slightly, resting her head on his shoulder, pretending to be cold so he'd maybe put his arm around her. Things that always seemed to work for the girls in the muggle world. But she wasn't like them. She didn't want to scare him off. So, she sat there, still staring at those eyes. Sigh.
At nearly the exact same time, without thinking, she moved her hand ever so slightly. Not noticing he had done the same thing. Their pinky fingers were touching, just barely, and the very contact sent chills up her spine and a pink color into her cheeks.
