Ashley was about to ask what had come true, but after a second or so, he got it. Or at least, he figured he did. So he just finished the cookie, nodding and being unsure about what to say next.
"You know," he started, realizing that the apparently point of the questioning was somewhat amusing. "That's a weird place to start, if you want to get to know someone, isn't it? Usually it's... hobbies. Favorite colours? I guess..." Not that he had a lot of experience in getting to know people. Still, it was strange, and it made him laugh. On the inside. "Oh, but. Secrets?" Somehow he hadn't expected her to ask about them. He'd expected that she would be fine with the answer he'd given, although now he realized that was pretty silly. You tell someone you have secrets, and of course they're going to ask about them. Even he would, and he usually wasn't one to pry or anything.
"You know. Usual things. Being afraid of the dark and stuff like that." Stuff like that. Oh, and that whole thing about how he was actually only about 80% sure of what he looked like right now. At least he didn't have webbed fingers anymore. That was an awful way to wake up. But he most certainly wasn't going to tell Violet about that, so he shrugged.
"But I'm glad I can talk to you about things, thanks. You know you can talk to me too, right?" he asked, being completely sincere about this. Even if it made him a little uncomfortable at first, he'd found that he felt better when he was able to help his friends, than if he'd just let them be upset about things.

Violet giggled slightly. 'Yeah, I suppose. My favourite colour is yellow, my hobby is drawing and painting... I have no pets, a sister and a twin...' she said, counting them off.
'You're welcome. Yeah, I know...' And she had nearly said then that she liked him. THAT would have been awkward. Very. Ugh, she remembered when Lilly had questioned her. And Rose had attempted to question him. Both had found it incredibly hard, and both had been embarassed afterwards. It had been funny though.

"Your twin isn't also your sister?" Ashley asked, clearly amused. He knew what she'd meant, but he couldn't pass up the chance to poke fun a little. He rarely got that chance, after all.
"Do you have any plans for the summer?" he went on, the question suddenly popping into his head, though now that he'd asked, he was very curious. He thought it would be nice if he could see her sometime over the break, since he didn't have many friends outside of school either, but that would likely be impossible.

Violet poked her tongue out at him, before stopping. 'No, she's my best friend, the one who'll always be there for me.' she said seriously, pushing a strand of her hair behind her ear.
She shook her head. 'Unpacking, getting school supplies, nothing else...' she sighed. 'How about you?' Hmm. Ice cream going may have just been added to her agenda...

That answer surprised him, though that was mostly because Ashley still remembered them fighting, which he'd also been surprised about. He finally just decided that he was never going to get any of it, and moved on, figuring that maybe he was lucky not to have any siblings.
"I don't really know yet. We may go to visit family, just like every other year, but I don't know for how long. Last year we only stayed a month before my mother got into a fight with her cousin and we left." He still had no idea whatsoever why they couldn't have just... avoided interacting with those family members for the rest of the summer, but his mother refused to talk about it. At least, not where he could've eavesdropped, anyway. It was very annoying.

Violet nodded and wished she could see her family. Who all lived in random places. 'Oh... I'm sorry...' she said, wondering if this was what he wanted to hear. She wasn't too good with people, sometimes...
'Well... Uh, d'you wanna maybe get an ice-cream during the summer? If you want to obviously...' she said quietly. Maybe he wouldn't hear her.

Ashley blinked. He hadn't expected a 'sorry' about it. It really didn't even bother him all that much. They were more than likely going to go back anyway, and it wasn't as though he'd missed much. He was just bored for most of the rest of the time, and was still confused on what had even happened. So he shook his head, putting on a small smile. "It's nothing to be sorry about. I'm sure she's over it by now. She gets so upset about tiny things, and then she forgets about them within days," he added.
Since he was out of cookie, he decided to go back to his candy bar, unwrapping it and breaking off a small bit. But before he could put it in his mouth, he caught what sounded like a question about ice cream, which caused him to frown a bit, looking thoughtful about it.
"If... you wanna try to meet up sometime when we get back, I guess I could ask. I'm sure my father could bring me..." But would he? That was the better question. It depended on how much questioning his parents would do, and how much lying he could manage.

Violet laughed softly. Yeah, she knew what he meant. 'Yeah, Lilly and I are like that sometimes...' she admitted. It was probably a girl thing. Obviously.
She saw he was out of cookie and passed him another one. If he wanted one, he just had to take one. If he didn't want it, oh well, he could have it later...
Her face lit up in a smile. Thank God, she was worried he'd completely reject her... 'Yeah, that'd be awesome!' she said enthusiastically, nodding her head. Ice-cream! With Ashley, hopefully! ICE-CREAM! She loved ice-cream, it was sooooo nice!

Ashley wasn't going to point out that the tantrums his mother had over the stupidest, tiniest little things was probably nothing like anything Violet and her sister would do. These things were crazy and embarrassing. He was used to it, and usually could tell when she was going to start complaining about something, but that didn't make it less embarrassing.
Instead he just took the cookie, and set about trying to decide whether to eat it or the chocolate. Or maybe both.
"My father may want to come, just so you know," he said, a small smile of amusement on his face before he finally decided to try a bite of cookie with the chocolate he'd broken off, just because it was beginning to melt in his fingers.

His Dad coming? Violet laughed. 'Ah, well, we'll just have to be sure he doesn't see Rose, if she decides to stalk me... She will have some pranks up her sleeves if she does.' she warned him. Yeah, and Ashley's Dad didn't seem the type to like pranks. No matter how awesome they were. She watched as he ate both the cookie and the chocolate and laughed, before bringing out a jam sandwiche and pushing the basket out so he could take whatever tickled his fancy.

Ashley wasn't sure he was a huge fan of pranks either, to be honest. He didn't really have much against them, if they were harmless enough. But for the most part, he hadn't yet found himself a participant of a prank he enjoyed. Mostly because he was an involuntary participant. He did think they were fun to hear about, though. He didn't mind that at all.
"Why would she pull pranks on you? Or... me?" He wasn't quite sure which. Maybe neither. The whole thing was just confusing.
"Hey, did you make that too?" Another important question, asked as he pointed to the sandwich. That was also impressive, if so, because he definitely counted sandwich-making as cooking, and therefore something he would probably never do.

Violet wrinkled her nose in distaste. 'She always pranks us. She stuck me to my seat at my table. She put a slug in Lilly's bed. We know she means no harm, though, she's just been like that. Always. It's part of her defence mechanism...' she explained.
She nodded. Of course she did, she wasn't going to bring anything that she hadn't made. 'Yeah, I did... Want one? Have anything in there, you got cakes, sandwiches, cookies, milkshakes...' Yes, milkshakes. Easy to make.

"Is that why she hugged me!?" A sudden outburst, although Ashley remembered a second after he'd asked why that had happened. That weird... Slytherin hugging day. So he shook his head, peering into the basket instead to see what was inside. "Nevermind. I remember what happened then," he said, choosing a cake, since he'd already had a cookie and a half so far. "You've been busy," he pointed out, due to the variety of items within the basket. If it was up to him to bring a picnic, he'd probably only think of one or two items to throw in, and of course he wouldn't make them himself. That's what house elves are for, anyway.

Violet laughed as he remembered. 'She hugged twelve Slytherins...' she let him know, just in case he was wondering. Hey, it had been a fun day. Violet hadn't participated, but next year, she would. She saw him take a cake, and put her own hand in, lightly brushing his, and grabbing a chocolate cupcake. 'Yeah, I have... The house elves told me that they would do it, but I refused to let them... I like knowing that effort and time go into it, and I like knowing that I did them... Then I know what goes into them... Plus, I have a secret recipe...' she smiled, laughing softly.

"Really, twelve?" Ashley sort of wished he'd been around to see that, just to see how they took it. It wasn't entirely pleasant for him, though the fact that it was Rose did help a lot. He definitely wouldn't have been happy if it was someone he didn't know. Still, he decided that perhaps he would find out exactly when this was supposed to happen again, and just hide in his room the entire day.
As Violet's hand brushed his, he quickly pulled his away, mostly out of reflex instead of any actual dislike of the touching. Although, if he really thought about it, he just may start changing colours, and he was really doing very well today. He didn't want to mess up now.
"Um..." he said, watching his cake for a moment, before remembering what he was going to say. "Oh... you have secret recipes? Where would you get that?" He'd always imagined people who had their own recipes for things as being... grandmothers or something. Or just old people in general.

Violet nodded happily. 'Some went ballistic. She interrupted two first kisses...' she giggled. It had been hilarious, she had witnessed some of them!
She saw him pull back quickly and frowned. Was she really that bad to touch? Would he die if he accidentally touched her hand? She tried not to look hurt, but her hair went slightly white, causing her to panic, causing her eyes to go slightly red. 'Dammit.' she muttered. She just looked away, trying not to let him see her hurt face.
She nodded jerkily. 'My Mum passed it down to me. Through generations.' she said simply, not trusting herself to speak much more, and still not looking at him.

Adrianna smiled. "My mother went to Beauxbatons" she said simply. Ad winked a little. "Not used to shaking hands, eh?" she asked a little playfully. "I know the feeling" She giggled a little and looked around. What was Hogwarts like? "It's like....being with thousands of members of family. There are the ones you love dearly, the ones you can't stand, the ones who play pranks on you all the time, and the ones that don't fit anywhere" she said. Was that a good description?

Maddie smiled. "It's a nice place but after a while, it gets a little over the top with the pressure" she admitted. That was what she really didn't like. "Not really. I guess France is loads different to England" she replied. It is. She listened to Ad's description. "And what about the professors?" she asked curiously.

Ashley wasn't sure how he felt about that one. On the one hand, kissing just seemed weird anyway, and if someone was trying to kiss him, he'd probably rather it was broken up. But then, he knew that some people liked that kind of thing, and if it was a first kiss, then maybe it would be a little upsetting to have that ruined. After a moment of thinking about it, he decided he really didn't care enough about it to think any more. Besides, Violet was changing colours again, and he wasn't sure why.
"Hey, you're doing that thing again," he said, tilting his head and leaning to try and see her face. "Where you go all different colours." And this was just interesting enough that he couldn't be bothered in going on thinking about recipes anymore. Not right now, anyway. He still wondered why that even happened. She hadn't really explained it very well.

Violet took a deep breath in and nodded. She didn't know what to say, she didn't want to admit that she felt as if she was so... She don't know, but she felt as if he was ashamed to be seen nearly touching her hand. Ha, yeah, she should've known.
'I noticed I was. You know, that's why my eyes went red.' she said simply, looking at him, hurt still hinted on her face. She was not going to let him think of her as some weak little girl, so she sighed and concentrated on her hair, making it more blonde than platinum blonde.

Ad smiled back. "That's what my mum said" Ad nodded at the next comment. "I lived in France for a year or two" she said. She couldn't quite remember. "The professors are good. They know what they're teaching, lemme say that"

"Oh," Ashley said, somewhat relieved. At least she wasn't angry about something. He'd worried about that. After that brief moment of being relieved, however, he actually noticed the hurt look, and that worried him all over again.
"What's wrong?" he asked, suddenly feeling bad and having no idea why. Hopefully it wasn't something he'd done, because then he would really feel horrible. Making Violet feel hurt was one of the things he hoped to never do.

Violet sighed, thinking about the best way to ask her question. 'Y-You're alright with being seen with me, right? I-I was just wondering, you were really really quick to snatch your hand away.' she said bluntly. Yes, she'd go straight to the point. She sighed and looked up into his eyes, turning hers back to their normal blue colour, which were looking into his brown ones worriedly.

So it was something he'd done. Apparently. And so Ashley indeed felt horrible, but he tried his best to ignore it. Maybe Violet was fine with going different colours all the time, but he hated it. It was honestly the worst thing he could imagine happening right now, even though he vaguely realized Violet would most likely not have a problem with it. Even so, he did his best to remain calm, though he couldn't keep a small frown from his face.
"No, that's not it! I just... do that," he said, though he couldn't explain why. He just wasn't used to being touched, but that sounded like an odd thing to tell someone. "It was accidental, promise," he added with a nod.

Violet nodded, now feeling bad herself. She had probably ruined it, now, he'd hate her. Ugh, why couldn't she keep her emotions in tack and her mouth shut!?
'Sorry...' she mumbled. She was, of course, referring to her question, the one that she probably shouldn't have asked. She wasn't going to apologise more than once, though, she found that hard. Blimey, she found it hard to be not happy. So, she had to cheer up. She crossed her legs, before a mischievous grin took over her features as she turned to look at him. He hadn't realised what he had just said.
'So, if I were to grab your hand, you wouldn't pull away? Unless it was accidental pulling away?' she said, smirking slightly. That was what he had saaaaaaaaaid, even if he didn't reeeeeealise it!
