The squishy sounds her shoes made against the rock of the Halls had slowly faded from Eris' mind the way up from the stairs to Professors Tate's office, or rather, the giant stone gargoyles mounted in front of it for guard and protection, looking down at the slightly damp and rather worn out eleven year old with an ugly look engraved on their face cold face. Not frightened away though by such, the boy-girl of a witch ran a hand through her black hair, shifting her weight from one foot to the other as she waited for the Headmaster to come.

Feeling the weight of the rock, or rather the gem the size of a barn owl in her hand, the first year remembered why she had came, and secretly hoped all would go well with a quick swallow. She had been at Hogwarts not even a week, and already she had a story to tell along with her new friend.

A golden serpent holder and a giant gem, matched with two straggly looking students standing in front of the headmaster's door. What an odd site, then again, this was Hogwarts.

Sarah stood next to her friend impatiently. She was cold and damp and the gargoyles were kind of creepy. However, the annoyingness was somehow lost on Sarah. Despite her discomfort, she was grinning. Why? Simply because she had finally found someone who would fearlessly walk with her through an epic adventure, and not tell her that she was too young or that it was too dangerous.

Yup, she was happy anyway.

Now all that needed to happen was for the gargoyles to figure out that they wanted in!

Hmmm. After a long pause, one of the gargoyles glances down at the students waiting to get in. Just... waiting. Didn't they have a password?

If not for the instructions from the Headman himself, these children would wait all night. The gargoyle gave an enormous sigh of forbearance and shifted aside.

"The Headmaster awaits you in his office."

Eris eyes widened in delight. Dipping her head quickly she thanked the Gargoyle, not wanting to waste any more time. "Come on Sarah!" she beamed happily holding out her hand for her friend as she went up the stairs.

Sarah giggled. The gargoyle was annoyed.

"Coming!" she called to Eris, following her up the stairs.

FINALLY!

With a small wrapped parcel in her hands, Kurumi made her way to the stone gargoyles, trying to convince herself that she was making the right decision by going straight to Headmaster Tate about it all. Thoughts of using Polyjuice Potion or Aging Potion had crossed her mind, in hopes that it would get around the obvious loop hole presented to her, but the consequences were too frightening to want to deal with.

Instead, best to go to the person in charge, right?

Seeing that the gargoyles were turned in such a manner that indicated students were already with the Headmaster, Kurumi took a seat and waited patiently.

Once the two little Slytherins left, the gargoyle raised a stony brow at the Gryffindor now waiting. Never ending, was it?

"The Headmaster will see you now."

Right seeing the other students exit and realizing that she could now make her way to the gargoyle to wait her turn to speak to the Headmaster. Shew chewed on her bottom lip feeling, uncommonly nervous about tattling on a professor.

Magically a framed piece of parchment appears beside the Stone Gargoyles at the entrance to the Headmaster's Office....the frame is attached by a strong sticking charm.

Presley stopped dead when she saw the new sign. No way. All she wanted to do was see the Headmaster, and talk to him about her plans, and how to achieve them. This couldn't be real. But apparently it was, because as Presley tried to take a step forward, her feet didn't move, which resluted in her faceplanting into the ground. Landing right on top of her broken arm. Papers and books went sprawling everywhere. Presley glared. Pushing herself into a standing position, she decided that after that stunt, she really couldn't embarrass herself any more than she just had. So in her loudest theatre voice, Presley said "OH BUDDHA BUDDHA BUDDHA!" And rubbed each gargoyles belly. Her feet unstuck, and she began gathering up her things. She put them all in a nice neat pile, and took a seat to wait for her turn to speak with the headmaster.

Ryan walked up to the office and saw the gargoyles.He said OH BUDDHA BUDDHA BUDDHA AND RUBBED their bellies.Strange he thought.But this was a magical place.

Kurumi headed down the staircase and turned the corner looking to see who the next person waiting to see the Headmaster was and saw that Cassie was standing there looking especially nervous.
"Hello Cassie," Kurumi said with a bow. "The Headmaster will see you now. He told me to come down and tell you that."

She offered the older girl a slight bow and was just about to head back to the common room when...Merlin, not another one. Spinning around, and feeling her shoes quickly becoming sluggish against the stone floor. She looked up at he gargoyle and sighed. She didn't have to shout the words, right?

She reached up and began rubbing his belly. "...O BUDDHA BUDDHA BUDDHA..."

Her shoes became more mobile and she found that she could breath again. One pair of shoes saved! Her other was still missing one...stuck to the 4th floor corridor.

Wow, see? It was a party with the gargoyles! Tate let the door shut behind him as he surveyed the small crowd waiting to speak to him. "I guess I've been keeping you lot waiting, haven't I? Who was next to see me? Can we just have a seat down here and chat?"

Cassie wondered if she ought to start rubbing the belly of the gargoyle now that she saw Kurumi descending the stairs. She was about to when the girl spoke. "Hey Kurumi...yes thank you." Her tern at last.

She was about to walk past the girl when the professor came down behind her. What was this? Tate outside of his office? She nodded at the man even though she knew his question was probably rhetorical. Didn't matter.

"I'm next and yeah out here is fine..next to the creeperzoid gargoyles."

She smiled at her headmaster and leaned against one of the gargoyles." Well professor, it's about Josh carter and a detention he was given..I was hoping you could ...look into it." Pretty please with cherries on top?

"I would probably need more details first. I try not to interfere in the points and detentions handed out by the staff unless there is a clear indication they've lost their gobstones," Tate glanced at the seating area, also populated with students, and decided to just stay put.

For now.

"Besides... from what I know about Josh Carter, he deserves a lifetime pass to detention. Gryffindor through and through. What did he do this time?"

Details? Details? What did details matter? Once Tate said no detention that was that. Sigh. Details would probably land her in detention, but she had told Josh that she would try to fix things.

"This lady seems like she's never had Gobstones" She muttered under her breath." She chuckled lightly at the professor's statement about Josh and rubbed the back of her neck. This was not going to be easy." He..wore heels..." Blink. See it sounded ridiculous already." We..err..I dared him to wear heels and he did and the professor just docked points and gave him detention.."

That sounded about right.

Nate ran up to the gargoyles, almost colliding with them. He had something to report to Headmaster Tate, but he knew he didn't get any special treatment or anything, so he stood and waited, stepping back in case the hidden door to the Headmaster's office opened from the inside. "Oh, man, this is exciting!" he said to himself, very eager to spread the news of the day's 'patrol'.

Nate, of course, hadn't seen the sign. Unbeknownst to him, his feet were stuck. But, as he was already rooted to the spot, he didn't realize at first...

Jez was walking past those pesky gargoyles guarding the Headmaster's office - whenever she had to go to the girl's bathroom, she was forced to do that stupid tickling routine - when she saw Nate standing in front of them. "Hi, Nate," she said, smiling. Then she saw how he was standing. Back to the sign, obviously hadn't spotted it. "Um, are you stuck?" Gentle nudging in the direction of realisation.

"Oh, hey Jez," said Nate. "Stuck? Nah, I'm just waiting for Headmaster Tate to--" then he saw the sign, "--Oh. I guess I am stuck then." He reached towards the gargoyles' bellies, but he couldn't reach them from where he was! He tried to grow his arms out a few inches, but his willpower wasn't enough to do it. As he reached out, though, he noticed that his arms were covered in cake still. He took out his wand, pointed at himself, and said "Scourgify" to clean the cake off of himself. Turning his head to look at Jez again, he asked "Why are you up here? I thought we had decided that I would report?"

"Here, let me." Jez giggled as she reached out to the gargoyles. That rule was ridiculous! She rubbed their bellies, and choked out between laughter, "O Buddha Buddha Buddha!" The gargoyles twitched, and she took this to meaning they'd unstuck Nate's feet. "There you go." She smiled at Nate. And as for his question ... she blushed. "I, um, I was just passing by. But I'll come too," she offered. "To tell the truth, I've never been in the Headmaster's office before. My brother says it's amazing!"
She hated lying to him.

"You're blushing, why are you blushing? Are you hiding something?" said Nate, raising an eyebrow and smiling a little. "It's alright, I'm usually reliable. Oh, and thanks for unsticking my feet," he said, rubbing his soles. That actually hurt to have your feet stuck flat to a stone floor. Who knew?

"I ..." Jez couldn't talk about her feelings, even to her cat Rowena. But this was serious. And Nate knew about things like this, right? All that stuff with Jayden and Faina, et cetera ... She sighed. "Promise you won't tell a soul? Please?"
Why was she asking that? Why was she thinking of telling him anything?

"I promise." Nate held his gaze at Jez, with a straight face.

Jez sighed. Just get it out. "It's Scott. I don't know how I feel about him. One moment we're friends, the next we're flirting. I don't even know how to flirt! He broke up with Chelsea because of his parents thinking he's not old enough to date, so I know liking him is not an option ... but I don't even know if I do or don't, and what'll happen if I do. I want us to be friends. Not for things to be awkward." She had to explain this somehow. "My older sister Desdemona once went out with one of her best friends, but when when they broke up, it ruined their friendship. I don't want it to be like that." Jez caught her breath, reaching a realisation. "I don't want to get hurt like Desdemona and Chelsea were," she admitted softly. "I'm afraid of being hurt."
