The usual grassy area located right beside the lake is completely covered with freshly fallen snow. So what are you waiting for? Go build that snowman! Professor Cerulean, Professor Scabior and a special guest, will be roaming the grounds looking for the best snowman of the lot, so get creative.

How was she supposed to build a snowman without gloves?
Arms swinging, and singing a little tune as she made her out onto the grounds, Seren couldn't help but beam at the scene before her. Students!!! so many students and all building snowmen! But of course, she had heard of the competition.
It was going to be such good fun!
Finding a good spot, with plenty of snow, Seren took a handful of it and started pressing it into a ball.
Harvey went out to the competition to knock down his snowman when he saw his favourite professor
"Hi Professor Bentley how are you? What are you doing here? Come to build a snowman?" He asked smiling, he was happy to see his professor outside of class

Looking past Harlow's shoulder, Seren saw yet another familiar face. Ahh these students were lovely! "Harvey, so good to see you," she said giving the lad a smile. "Well I'm going to attempt to... Harlow here said she'd give me a hand."
Looking down, Seren gave the girl a wink.
"How have you been? Come out to join the festivities?"

"Oh that's good. Mind if I help? Oh I have been well, yes I started building one over there but it was hard doing it on my own so left it. But I woudn't mind helping you and Harlow build yours" Harvey said smiling, who wouldnt want to help their favourite professor
If it hadn't have been for that tell-tale voice, Seren would have been at a complete loss as to why her legs were suddenly being bound. But because she was so familiar with little Harlow, she hadn't been taken by surprise. Patting the girl on the back gently, she gave the young snake a smile. "Hello Harlow, and how are you doing this fine winters day?"
It really was a fine day, perfect for playing in the snow.
She laughed lightly as Harlow remarked on Professors playing in snow. Why wouldn't they? It was so much fun. "Well I can't speak for the others, but I for one, love it!... it's far too much fun to miss out on." And there was no way she was going to keep herself holed up in her office or in the castle. Not unless hell freezed over. Pun intended.
"Oh help would very much be appreciated. I'm not very good at building snowmen... are you?"
It was nice to have Professor Bentley rubbing her back, just like her mom used to do. It made her homesick a little. "I'm ok. did you see me in Saturday for the quidditch game? I got to play and those Gryffindors were really playing hard." she nodded. "And we won." she bounced a little at the announcement.
Harlow nodded, "Snow is so fun. And its all white." And it was clear she loved white. "Its like its a blanket that just cleans up everything that dies during the fall and makes it ready for the springtime so everything can grow again." Thats why she loved winter time and snow so much.
She clapped her hands, "Yes ma'am. Though they always tend to be small like me. Because I'm not very big." she explained. Just in case Professor Bentley thought all first years were as small as Harlow.
Harlow looked at the new girl, "Hi. I'm Harlow." she introduced.

Building a snowman on his own. Pfft that was no fun! "Of course you may join us, the more the merrier! Isn't that right Harlow?" she asked for verification. She wouldn't mind if the boy joined them would she? Harvey was a lovely 'Claw after all.
Turning back she beamed at the little snake. "Of course I saw you play, your a superb flyer! and of course, congratulations on your win."
Though perhaps this weekend the Eagles would be the ones to soar to victory. Or so she hoped. Either way she would be there to cheer them on. Seren couldn't help but agree with everything Harlow had been saying. Snow was so much fun, and it was very very pretty... and very much like a blanket.
"Small snowmen are just as good as big ones, if not better," she encouraged. "They're far cuter and probably easier to build as well."
With a light laugh she clapped her hands together, accidently ruining the ball she had been working on, and showering them all with snow. "Whoops."
But it was all in good fun. "Now I'm warning you both... if you're going to build a snowman with me, you have to be patient. I'm not very skilled... for some reason my snowmen have a habit of falling apart, particularly their heads."

Harlow giggled and danced under the raining snow as it fell. "Their heads fall apart?" she asked wondering how that was possible. She put her hands on her hips and surveyed the snow, "Well I think if we roll carefully and pack the snow hard it shouldn't fall apart." she noted. She squatted and started to roll a ball of snow. "Are you we going to make a small one like me, or a big one lik you?" she asked as she continued to roll her ball.

He then started making a ball as he waited on the professor telling them what size snowman they were going to make.

Tom had never, in all his life, seen anything like the snow that covered Hogwarts. Sure, they had the occasional thin dusting of snow in London, but that was always soiled and black within an hour or two. The snow around Hogwarts was pure and, Tom thought, beautiful. He thought it was a real shame to walk on it and ruin it with his clumsy footprints as he made his way to the area that had been allocated for this competition.
He pulled his hat further down over his short hair, hugged his thin scarf tighter around his neck, and shivered. He was sure London was never quite this cold. His woollen gloves were worn and threadbare, but that didn't stop the fourteen year old from wanting to join in the fun. Everything at Hogwarts seemed so innocent compared to what the kids got up to back home.. and Thomas liked that. He felt the age he was supposed to be.
He took to the sidelines, too self conscious to ask anyone if they needed help, and retrieved his small sketchbook from his back pocket. He began to sketch a picture of a small girl engrossed in her snowman building.

Yeah, this was why he would rather just nod and smile.
Alex... from Hufflepuff? "Oh my buttons, I do know an Alex from Hufflepuff!" Eino exclaimed after hearing Sierra's story, which confused him a little, but he didn't want to be nosy and ask questions. As for the boy, he did know him, maybe not the same one, but he knew an Alex from Hufflepuff. He had met him last year, during Astronomy lesson. "Sounds like a complicated family..." He commented nervously. He had his own share of complications within his family, but he hadn't told that to anyone yet, not even that his real name wasn't Eino Uronen. He felt like he was lying to everyone, but most importantly to himself. He hoped that if he continued to pretend he was Eino he would be Eino, not knowing he wouldn't change just by acknowledging his real identify.
"Oh, yes... A stick will work." Eino said as he snapped out of it and turned his attention to Sierra. After the bottom was completed he began to work on a different snowball for the snowman's middle part. "This one should be a tad smaller, then we put it on top of it and smooth it out." He told her as he continued to build it.
Sierra reached over and shoveled a pile of snow toward her. She worked on building the middle ball as she glanced up at Eino with a smirk. Did he think she'd just let him pelt her with a snowball? Oh, no. What she meant was she'd chunk them at Eino while dodging all of his. Then again, from what she'd heard, they were now both beaters. If that was the case, he'd probably have no trouble swatting a snowball away from him.
"Oh, my buttons?" she repeated and laughed. She playfully shook her head at his choice of words. Then he mentioned how complicated her family seemed, and it caused her smile to fade just a little. "It can be, but only when my mother gets involved," she explained. "When it's just the three of us," ... "my father, his girlfriend, and I, things are lot easier. If only it was always that way..."
She pushed her snow onto the part Eino was already building. "So what color will the scarf and hat be?" she asked. Of course it should be green and silver, but...would Eino go for that? She normally wasn't very giving, but she supposed she could deal with a green and blue combination.

Seren was simply delighted! Snowman building with two of her favourite students. She had many favourites after all, and how could she not when there were so many lovely students such as Harlow and Harvey. Scooping up another handful of snow, Seren started patting it down again, making it small and compact. This time her snowman would NOT fall apart.
"I think I'll be making a small snowman," she mused, smiling down at little Harlow. "That way I'll only have to worry about a little head instead of a big one." Sqautting low to the ground, she started rolling her little snowball to make it bigger. But not too big of course.
"Three heads certainly are better than one," she laughed lightly at Harvey's comment. Then again, three snowman heads would probably make things worse. People heads were good though.

Indy was really having so much fun. Never had she thought that they would get to build snowmen at Hogwarts. She rolled her ball around a few more times, making it a bit bigger, not too much bigger though. She didn't want her snow bear to have a huge middle. It wouldn't look very good then, and she wanted it to look great. Indiana wasn't a perfectionist, but she wanted to ensure that it looked good. Okay. She was done with the middle now. She plonked it up, so that it was on it's side. There...it kind of looked like a middle of a bear, but Indy knew that it would look better once she had finished, because then it would really look like a bear. She smiled, before deciding to mmove onto the next thing. She figured she may as well do the head next. At least then it would kind of look like something. Indy mused, bending down and starting to make th head for her Teddy bear. She moved around, getting the snow into the ball, but not making it as big as the middle. it would be a bit silly for the head to be as big as the middle.

"Ok I will make the middle body part" Harvey said squatting down and making a small snowball and rolling it around in the snow making it bigger but small enough to look proportional to the bottom part once Professor Bentley will have finished making it. He was happy that he was helping his favourite professor build a snowman.
Sierra reached over and shoveled a pile of snow toward her. She worked on building the middle ball as she glanced up at Eino with a smirk. Did he think she'd just let him pelt her with a snowball? As they finished building the second snowball, for the snowman's middle, Eino began smoothing it out before moving onto the final ball, for its head. As he did, he listened to Sierra. Of course, he was more interested in her than the snowman, he just wanted to look busy and not be caught staring at her drooling. Eino could relate to Sierra's story. In his family, his biological father was the trouble. He was rather happy with just his mother and his adoptive father, although he never referred or thought of him as adoptive but the real one. Still, he wasn't ready to share that, but he wanted to. He really did. He sighed heavily as he finished the last snowball and placed it on top of the two other.
"Hmmm, perhaps teal? We ought to give him a cape, and a pointy hat, too." He suggested. It was supposed to be a snow-wizard, right? It was going to have wand too, so maybe they could add something to make it look like it was casting a spell.
Selina rubbed her hands together. It was starting to get really cold outside. All of the work she had been doing on building the Godric Gryffindor snowman/snow sculpture had really gnawed at her finger tips. She knew she should have worn gloves... it was too late for that now. Her work was almost done and she was ready to get inside for dinner. She was starving then again she was always hungry. Besides they were serving mashed potatoes tonight in the Great Hall. If there were too things she did not want to miss it was anything mashed or anything potato.
So she molded the last bit of the man's beard and stepped back. He looked fetching. And so did the lion that stood proudly beside him. She was proud of her sculpture... but she was more hungry now then anything else.
Rose watched as Ryan looked at it. 'I think it's almost done!' she murmured. She waved her wand and colored in the mane. Then the tail. Until it actually looked like a giant lion!

Snowman building. Erin had been doing it back home during winter season. But a competition, she'd never joined anything. However, she was sure she would do great since it had been their family's tradition during holidays. Well, before her Mummy died. With them, snowman's got a lot of varieties. They'd make Santa with a hat, or a girl Santa, or even their neighbor Mrs. Gold, a big fat nosy woman. But they always end up making a snowman with a horn like that of a stag. Just for fun. Erin and her sister always enjoyed making it. It would be different now since Cristina wasn't here.
As Erin made here way toward an empty spot to make her Snowman, she noticed a boy few years older than her. He looked like he needed help since he was crouched on the snow. She walked closer in his direction and he was actually sketching. She leaned to peeked, "You're good!"
Gemma looked at all of the snowmen with a smile on her face. They were great! She put her wand towards her neck and made an announcement,
"Alright everyone, you need to start putting your finishing touches on your snowmen because our special guest judge should be arriving soon..." she said with a little nod.
She flicked her wand and a stage of snow and ice was created at the front of the snowmen building area. And then she continued with her announcements, "When you are satisified with your final touches, please levitate, very carefully, your snowman to the stage so that our judge can see them all in one easy to see place." she said with a smile.
OOC: Okay everyone, you need to start finishing up your snowmen. Our special guest judge should be making their appearance sometime tomorrow so let's say that all snowmen need to be levitated to the stage by noon tomorrow CST.
Here's what will make it easier for us to figure out whom built what snowman, etc. Please RP your charrie(s) levitating your snowmen to the stage and then in your posting include the names of the students that built the snowman with a description of your snowman.

Patting the surface of what would be the head of her snowman, Mina placed it atop her snowman. It was starting to look like what a typical snowman was supposed to look like, but she didn't want it to turn out just like a boring plain snowman.
Stepping back, she gathered some wet snow and started to add it to the areas where all her snowballs met. She needed them to look solid and full. The way it looked at the moment, you could tell it was made in three sections. She didn't not want that. It needed to look like one solid pillar of snow. It didn't need to be uniform in size, it just needed to look like one pile of snow. An oddly shaped triangle of snow would even work.
Packing the snow as tightly as she would, she stepped back to look at her work. It was as good as it was going to, she thought. It was a starting ground for sure.
Pulling her wand back out, she started to trace out an outline in her snow pillar.
Ira finally completed her dragon! She wanted to put some color into it but then decided against it. She went backwards a little and admired her dragon here. It looked even prettier than she had imagined! Well, magic certainly helps. She smoothed the surface of the dragon's skin by applying the Glisseo charm and plopped down on the snow, tired by all the work...She sat there watching others.

Sure he had heard about the snowman building competition, but Gideon hadn't been feeling the greatest at first so he had stayed back up in the semi-warmth of the castle. No sense trying to have fun while feeling under the weather. However he eventually got curious and feeling a bit better, he made his way down to the grounds to find the group that was supposedly competing. It wasn't too hard to spot with all the creative snowy creatures and people he was created with catching him a little of guard.
Wow...
He was drawn out of his amazement by Professor Cerulean announcing the competition was just finishing up and he took the news with mixed feelings. Guess he was out of luck though perhaps it was for the best since he didn't feel he had any chance with the beautiful works he had already saw. Looking around the gathered students, Gideon tried to see of he could find any of his friends to see what they had come up with.

Hearing the announcement, Mina looked up toward the stage. She had to hurry if she wanted to finish in time for it to be judged with the others. Her mind was wandering before and that had just costed her even more time than she wanted.
Rolling up her sleeves slightly, she focused on starting to carve away the snow outside of the lines her wand had just traced out.
Biting her lip in thought, she continued to work on getting all the snow that she didn't need off her creation. Moving down the pillar of snow and then back up it, she then stood back and looked at her work so far. It was starting to look like it could be a person and that was what it was supposed to look like.
Moving on to working on the detail, she carved a bit more off the front of the pillar. At first glance it appeared that she was just drawing in the snow, but if anyone looked closer it was clear that she was carving out what looked to be a broom.
Getting the details of the broom done, she moved to work on the rest of the bottom half of the pillar. Moving around the base, she continued to carve way snow here and there.
Once the base was done, she continued to work her way up as quickly as possible. Not completely wanted to rush but still mindful of the time, she continued her carving away.
Working on the details more, it was now even easier to see what the pillar was supposed to be. Taking another step back to look at her progress, she smiled. It was taking shape will now but she still had to work fast. Everyone around her was starting to move their snowmen over and she didn't want to be the last person.
Stepping back up to her snowman, she started on the top portion of her snowman. Carving away a head, she added more detail to it. It wasn't going to look exactly anyone but she was just going for a general look. She knew she wanted it to look at least like one of them on the team though.
Taking another glance around, she frowned. Time was really starting to run out and she wanted to make her quidditch snowman perfect though. It looked decent at the moment, but it just wasn't what she wanted completely. Giving it one last go, she went back to add the details that she thought would make it clear what her snowman was.
Working on it for another ten minutes, she took a final look and sighed. It would just have to do. Pulling out her wand, she slowly and carefully levitated her quidditch player snowman to the stage. It was simply player with a broom but she had tried to carve out the details of her own Ravenclaw uniform. It wasn't completely clear but she hoped that the point would still come across to everyone.
Setting her snowman down gently, she charmed some near the bottom of her snowman to spell out her name.

She had to levitate...her snowman to the stage?
Merlin help her! The thing was massive. Thankfully, Kurumi had set up her spot not too far from the stage to begin with, so it would really only take one good lift and she would be all set. Rolling up her sleeves, Kurumi practiced her swishing and flicking several times in a feeble attempt to calm her nerves. After a few deep breaths, Kurumi mustered enough courage to perform the proper levitation spells and felt as though her arms were going to fall off from the sheer weight. Until now, she had only lift small things...quills, balls, a medium sized snowball.
NOTHING could have prepared her for lifting some seven foot tall house elf made out of snow.
Beads of sweat dripping down her face, one would have thought that it was summer instead of the middle of winter. With a smushed THUD, her snowman made its way to the stage and sat there waiting to be judged. She pulled out a piece of parchment and quickly wrote her name, house, and year on it before setting it next to her creation.
SPOILER!!: Kurumi's snowman
Kurumi Hollingberry // Gryffindor // 4th years

For fun, Ira had also made two heads, i.e. snow heads like these 'Snow Heads'. She decided to put them up for display too.
They looked so cute! and happy too! Now she had to levitate all her sculptures to the stage. The heads would be easy but the dragon? It was too large for her to levitate it alone. But, focus on the task and you will be successful, her mother used to say. So she attempted it. She first levitated the heads onto the stage which was easy. She tagged her name in front of it and then tried to lift the dragon. She hoped that her dragon would not break apart!
Carefully and slowly, she levitated it towards and stage and set it down softly. Thankfully her dragon was still intact Dragon
She put her name near the dragon too and eagerly waited for the special judge.
