| | The Healer's Office OOC Note: This thread, as well as the bench outside the office, is meant for non-patient meetings and greetings. If your character is ill or injured, please post in the Check-in Area for Patients then the Waiting Room for Patients and Visitors. I will quote your post and reply to it inside the office thread. Please wait for me to do so, before posting yourself. The Healer's office is the only room in the whole of the Hospital Wing that Elizabeth Brookes has really attacked with her own personal touch. Once you're called into the office, the first thing you'll probably notice is how pink it is. The stone walls are painted with a pale pink colour, and the windows blocked by darker pink curtains. The smell of all the vases of wild garden flowers might hit you after you realize that a couple of the orbs from outside the office have followed you inside.
One wall is completely lined with make-shift shelving. These shelves are filled floor-to-ceiling with books. Big books; small books; old ones and a fair number of newer looking ones, too. Instead of organising her books by name or subject, Healer Brookes sorts them by cover colour - mainly because they look prettier that way. Don't be fooled into thinking that is silly though: She could find any book on her shelf in a matter of moments. Just in front of the shelves is a small white sofa, which is covered in decorative pillows of various colours and sizes.
Her desk is crammed into the corner. Behind it is a very uncomfortable looking, high backed, bright pink chair. The desk will probably look ridiculously untidy, but Brookes will simply call it "organised mess". Usually sat on top of all of the paper work will be Tom; Brookes' 3 month old Barn owl. He's very friendly, so feel free to pet him and say hello - just don't feed him any sweets! Opposite the desk are two more chairs. They look far more comfortable than the chair that Healer Brookes sits on. These chairs are also disgustingly pink, though, and are also accompanied by some canary yellow cushions.
Just over half of the the L-shaped room is hidden by a folding partition. Behind the partition is where most of Healer Brookes' potion-making and medicine stores are. Students are not permitted to go into that part of Healer Brookes' office, ever. This office is her personal space and she will not be impressed in the slightest if you try to break into her office. The same applies for if you enter her office before she has invited you in. It is rude and impolite, so do not do it.

| YOUR Nixy. || Prefect Rainbows! || Deniz'in Müzik Kardeşi It'd been a busy first day, to say in the least. Beth made her way to her office and took off her heels. Back to being a midget again... but at least she was comfortable. She fed Tom some treats, and let him climb up her arm to sit on her shoulder. Tom liked to sit there.
Then, just as she went to go over to her bookshelves, there was a knock at the door. Really hoping that it was just someone wanting to chat and not an injured student looking for her, the healer walked over to the door and opened it... |

Isabelle walked into the healers office with a smile on her face. It was a nice little office. She loved how the books were organized. "Hello, my name is Isabelle Dupont," Isa politely began introducing herself. "I am a sixth year in Slytherin who transferred her last year from Beauxbatons." Isabelle explained nicely.

| YOUR Nixy. || Prefect Rainbows! || Deniz'in Müzik Kardeşi Closing the door behind the student, Beth returned to her seat behind the desk. She indicated for the girl to sit on one of the chairs opposite. The healer folded her arms and rested her elbows on the desk in front of her.
She listened to the girl introduce herself. "Isabelle Dupont..." Beth repeated. Maybe it would be a good idea to actually learn student's names. She'd felt SO rude not remembering her patients names. "You have a pretty name," Beth commented. "So... What brings you down to my office?" the tiny healer asked, with a cheerful smile. |

Isabelle smiled brightly and sat down in the chair the healer indicated. A pretty name! This healer seemed like she was very nice already. "Thank you," she said brightly. What brought her down. Well she began her talk...this was going to be long she thought in her head. Hopefully the healer didnt mind her longness. "Well first of all I wished to meet the healer of Hogwarts because I aspire to be a healer when I graduate. I was also wondering if you could advise me what it takes to be a healer here in England. I plan to stay here and I had talked a lot to the Beauxbatons healer, I used to help her out a lot. But I was wondering how it is here in England," Isabelle said.

So the girl wanted to become a healer when she was older! "Well..." she started, "It takes a LOT of dedication, becoming a fully certified Healer. It was six years before I was fully qualified." The healer twiddled her thumbs together. "I actually spent my time in medical school in America, so I'm afraid I can't give you any input on what the British institutions are like. I do know that St. Mungo's has an excellent range of training programs; y'know as an alternative to the traditional universities."
"It doesn't matter WHERE you plan to Heal, though... I do believe the necessary qualities stay the same, country to country. You'll do well in the Healing field if you've got the dedication, passion, and desire to help. Well, those and a decent background with Potions and Herbology..." Beth nodded and smiled at the girl. Beth looked to the door as someone knocked on it. Hmm. Whoever was outside could wait a moment until Isabelle was seen to.
The healer didn't notice the photograph on the floor. |

Isabelle smiled as she listened to the healer. "Six years," Isabelle said surprised. She hadn't been told that it took that long. "Well I must say I am very dedicated to healing. I spend much of my free time reading up on healing and brewing potions," Isabelle said. It was quite true. She was reading the guide to healing books. Right now in Intermediate Guide to Healing. "A well that is good to know that St. Mungos has healing courses, I have heard of it and it seems like a place I would love to work at."
Isabelle listened as the healer said it didn't matter where you healed. "Ah, I was assuming it didn't matter from different places, I was just wondering what you thought." Isabelle thought, dedication, passion, and desire to help. Plus, Herbology and Potions. "Well I would certainley say I have thoughs qualities as I spend much of my free time reading up on healing and such. I certainley have a desire to help, I was a frequent visitor to the Hospital Wing at Beauxbatons to help the healer. And I love Potions and Herbology." Isabelle stated.

There weren't many students that seemed interested in Healing when SHE was at school, so it made her really happy to see that there was at least one child who wanted to go into healing.
She stood aside, to allow the boy entrance to the office. ooc: Feel free to reply to this inside the office thread. Shannon nodded his head and followed the Healer into her office. "I was wondering what type of classes I need to take in seventh year specifically." Shannon commented as he looked around the office. He couldn't believe one room in particular could be so PINK. He thought his little sister's room was pink, but it was no where near comparison to the Healer's office. "I'm already planning on taking potions and herbology, because, well, it just makes sense to." He added on.

As the girl explained about her dedication, the Healer couldn't help but smile a little. "I can see already that you definitely have the heart for it. You'll do well in the Healing field."
When she carried on, Beth sat and listened to her, whilst ignoring the baby owl (who was currently finding his voice... and making loud use of it.). "Oh really? ... Well if the clumsiness of Hogwarts ever gets TOO much, can it be safe to assume that you'd happily offer a helping hand here, too?" Quote:

"Yes, those two classes DO make sense to take. There's a lot of sense in most of the classes that Hogwarts provide, though. From your perspective, I mean. Transfiguration and Charms are highly advisable. Wandwork is nearly as important as the potion-making." Beth pointed her head in the general direction of the hidden section of her office. "Some healers argue that Ancient Runes and Arithmancy are useful, but I would disagree. They aren't necessary for getting in the field... although, they might become useful if you ever intend to study the alternative healing methods." The healer smiled slightly. "And then there's Muggle Studies. Having an in-depth knowledge of how Muggles heal without magic is always usefully insightful." |

"Well, I guess it won't really matter how long it takes since this is really what I have already decided to do," Isabelle said with a smile. She was quite positive that she was going to be a healer, no matter the consequences.
Isabelle looked at the healer with a smile when she asked if Isabelle would ever like to help. "Of course I would love to," she said cheerfully. "It would be good practice." Yes indeed, and Isabelle wanted all the practice she could get.

Isabelle smiled at the nice healer. "Yes that is all," she said with a bright smile glad that she had meet the new healer. "Thank you Healer Brookes. I'll be here if you ever need any help."
Oh what a wonderful feeling it would be to help the healer. Isabelle felt her triphere was very worthwhile.

The healer stood up, and walked to the door. "If I need the help, I'll be sure to send you a note." She nodded, in a way that suggested that it was time for her to leave. Peaking out of the door, the healer saw that there were a couple of students waiting to visit her... |
